This place is such a hidden gem. Dangerously delicious cause we live so close. The chicken is super flavorful and crispy. We got the garlic and the devils hot is spicy enough and flavorful but not mean. The sides are also great. Worth it to eat there and get as takeout.

The wings were crispy. The tenders were more soft with less crisp factor. Waffle fries were crispy outside and soft inside. We got savory red, garlicky soy, and devil garlic. Savory red was supposed to be mild heat but I really couldn’t taste any spice. The devil garlic is supposed to be medium heat but was more mild. Of note, they mentioned they don’t have the furikake flavor anymore. Slaw was pretty good.

The chicken wings were really crispy and not too fatty, one of the things that puts me off. The demon garlic sauce was medium on the spicy scale, but it was more of a slightly spicier mild to me. I think that’s fair as I rarely eat spicy food. The fries were also really crispy, well made, and well-seasoned. Furikake rice was a nice touch, too. I’m not the biggest fan of cole slaw in general so I won’t comment on it here.

I got the wings box with extra 2 pcs of wings and it was a great deal. It came with crosscut fries, rice and coleslaw and it was delish. I will definitely came back here. The staff are really nice and effecient.

Hubby and I ran into this place on a walk. Its in a shopping center next to a few food places. I was hungry and saw the sign. I looked in and it was pretty empty. I dont know how this place doesnt have a line around the corner. The service was impeccable and the food that we ordered to go was ready in no time. The restaurant it self doesnt have much of an ambiance. Its a small space but when I tell you that this food was finger licking good!!!! Whew!!! Baby!!! My son and my husband killed this! The waffle fries are slightly seasoned with Cajun seasoning and the rice is probably the best white rice I have ever had!! Its steamed to perfection, then seasoned so well. Now these garlic soy and mild sauce tenders and wings we my favorite! 10/10 recommend this place!!!!!

Best Korean Fried Chicken in town! The tenders were reasonably good and the waffle fries were not too salty. Personally, I didnt feel the spiciness of the tenders until the Satans Kiss spice level. All the spice levels below were mild to me. 10/10 would recommend.

Fried chicken isn’t pretty, but here it’s done right. The place is tucked under the Musashi sign as seen in my picture. The price seems high until you see the large pieces of chicken in the box. There are three outdoor tables and no indoor seating. Flavor, texture, moisture, and portions were all excellent. Recommended if you like fried chicken.

100% the best gluten free fried chicken place in all of SD. I always like to order the cheese fries, and 10pc tenders... We also tried the wings (wonderful!), And this time tried the Devils kiss spice level... Great level of heat! The kitchen is always working, online orders keep rolling in, and people keep coming up to the door to pick up their foods. Located in a corner of la Jolla close to UCSD, its a great place for a relaxing weekend meal with friends. 10/10 would recommend to anyone

I was iffy on whether or not I should’ve ate my food because it looked funny to me but I paid for it and it seemed fine so I did anyway. Later on regretted that decision because my stomach has been in knots and I have been vomiting since then. I loveee hot flavors. I got “satans kiss”. It was more sweet than hot to me, but was not the best taste. They serve small party wings loaded in batter to make the chicken appear larger than it is. Nice music but very mid restaurant.

The best wings in the La Jolla/San Diego area! Tried wings and the sando. Oh My Gods of Chicken Sandwich. Hands down the best chicken sandwich ever. Their slaw is perfect. Chicken tenders are tender and huge. Their Cajun waffle fries are delicious.The staff is super courteous. Excellent.This will be a great experience for all who try it.Totally forgot to take pictures. This Korean chicken is the real deal! 😋 So flavorful, juicy, fresh. You can tell the quality KD chicken is high. We got 6 wings in mild and the sandwich in medium. The spice levels were perfect. We’ll definitely be back. Oh and the K-pop posters are 🔥

Fantastic little shop for some Korean Fried Chicken. It seems to be dine-on-patio only, and the phone ordering system could be a bitt easier to use. That said, we were completely satisfied with the food, and would be excited to eat here again. The spice levels were perfect, and both the waffle fries and onion rings were cooked to perfection.

This chicken really puts the National chains to share. The chicken was cooked perfectly on the inside, but what really makes it special is the breading which is extra crunchy compared to Kentucky style. You can pick a spicy level for the sauce for the chicken, which I recommend the Level 5 because, well, i like to suffer. On top of that, they present a Korean style coleslaw, some rice, and perfectly fried waffle fries.

They used to be nearby in the old Atlas supermarket and we missed them dearly. Found them in their new location a few months ago and the chicken is just like we remember. Very crispy, even after steaming in the box for a awhile, and the flavors are great. I appreciate that they dont drench the wings in too much sauce like most other places and enjoy them plain just as well. I would complain about paying $18 for 10 wings if they were small, but they never are.

Im generally not a big reviewer - I just had to tell the world how amazing this place is. The texture and taste of the chicken is just perfect. Even the super spicy option (Devils kiss or something?) has a great taste, which sometimes doesnt happen for extreme spice foods. Yum yum!

Super munchable juicy & delish - had well seasoned crunchy batter. Huge portions, got full off eating just one of their chicken tenders!! Chose the garlicky soy flavor with their secret dipping sauce for my 2-piece tender box, so yummy! Now in a much more convenient location!Ive introduced several of my friends to this place in the past couple of weeks. One of whom is not a fan of fried chicken. That same friend ended up going to Calvins two days in a row.Calvins chicken is the only Korean Fried Chicken that compares to the ones Ive had in Koreatown and OC, the foodie meccas. As a spicy lover, I am often disappointed when a restaurant calls something hot. The Pure Evil here will get you sweating a bit, with amazing flavor behind the heat.All of the flavors here are amazing. Breading so crispy. Meat incredibly juicy. There are some new items on the menu (jalapeno poppers, onion rings) but the chicken is so addicting that I dont dare stray from the path.

Wow. This place is SO GOOD. Seriously the best and crispiest chicken I’ve had anywhere in San Diego (maybe anywhere ever?). Given the good reviews, I really wanted to like this place. Everything about this place was average or below. It was my first time here and I purchased the three piece chicken tenders. I ordered the savory red mild sauce.My first impression was that it was not that mild, however that is such a relative term so I gave them a pass. Unfortunately the chicken was over cooked and dry. Also the flavor was very bland. Nothing was horrible, but it just didn’t taste good. The place is located in a rundown shopping center, and does not have an option for dine in eating. Although the person who helped me was not rude, they were not very friendly or helpful either. First impressions mean a lot, and this one was not good. I will not be coming back since there are too many other restaurants to choose from.

Delivery was 1/3 the cost of the meal.I ordered once via their website for delivery and my order never arrived. Garlic soy was my favorite which was so delicious.. during my 4 days trip, I even had this chicken two times. You will like the waffle fries too. Waffle fries are a nice change and done perfect, the slaw is a perfect tangy balance to the spicy chicken. As a spice lord, ecstatic to see super hots like ghost pepper and other top tier stuff. Wasnt until after we finished that we found out these are gluten free. How they get that crispy outside without using flour is beyond me but Im not complaining. Every so often, I come across an eatery thats worthy of being franchised. This place definitely fits that bill. Calvin explained that he spent lots of time testing recipes to make the crispest, crunchiest fried chicken possible and it just so turned out that the breading is naturally gluten free. Gluten free or not, the chicken is amazing. The ‘devil’s garlic’ was particularly delicious. An added plus is that most fried chicken is soggy the next day, but Calvin’s chicken was (somehow!) still crunchy and tasty. It was also not as unnecessarily greasy as some other fried chicken. Calvin’s chicken is magical- highly recommend !

This place has the WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced. They know they make good food so they think they can treat customers like s***. Bring back Musashis. They knew how to run a business and treat their customers the right way. Never eating here again. I hope this place goes bankrupt.
