Quite a wonderful bakery! This place is a hidden gem in a normal strip mall. You might just pass it by - but don’t!The locals know about this bakery, and it becomes quite busy.The breads and food here are delicious, and the staff are friendly and professional.While there is not much of a view or atmosphere, they do have an outdoor patio, which actually is quite nice to just sit and enjoy coffee and pastries.The coffee is very good as well!I would definitely make the effort to come back here, as everything is quite delicious!

The French onion soup was pretty salty to my personal taste but I liked that they gave 2 extra pieces of cheese toast to soak into the soup cause that’s the best part right? My friend seemed to enjoy her smoked salmon avocado toast. It was little hard to enjoy our food because of the aggressive bird problem. They have no fear and will come right next to you to get your crumbs. It didn’t help that I just watched Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” movie not too long ago. Scary…

A sensible bakery. Ive definitely had better pastries but I admire their and non-frisky storefront. Theyre the best in the area thats for sure but its a small pond. Docking a star because I suspect their croissants are made with oil and not butter because I feel quite lethargic after I put one down.Big fan of the yogurt!

This is one of my fav spots. Its a cute little bakery with just the freshest breads and baked goods! Grab a baguette on the weekend for the perfect addition to your breakfast! The fruit pastries are the perfect blend between sweet and tarty. With such a wide array of options there is bound to be something for everyone! They also pop up at the Mission Viejo Farmers Market. The staff is super friendly and helpful too!

I recently visited Chaupain bakery and was impressed by the quality of their croissants, bread, and yogurt. The food is definitely worth trying, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty breakfast or snack.However, the service could have been faster, but it did not detract from the quality of the food.Overall, I would still highly recommend Chaupain bakery for their delicious offerings. Just be aware that service may be slow even during quieter times.

Quaint and absolutely fresh little bakery Cafe, we ordered an eclair for an appetizer - it was scrumptious and filled to the brim with delicious cream filling! The California Club and French Dip sandwiches were got were made from the most delicious baguettes weve ever eaten! The combination of crispy crust and chewy sourdough was spot on and very filling. At first I thought they were a little pricey, but it helped that the sandwiches were nicely loaded and we got to choose a side - I got a fresh fruit cup and my daughter opted for a tangy side salad. I was only able to eat half because I was so full, and so now Im happy to have another one waiting for me for later. Wed definitely go again!

Croissants here are very fresh and delicious especially because they are not too sweet and greasy. I had a chocolate croissant which was well balanced between the chewy bread, crunchy cover, and just enough chocolate. An almond custard chocolate croissant was also delicious because custard was not dominant or too sweet. A mixed berry bateau croissant was very different from almond custard chocolate although they kinda look alike. I enjoyed them all. The servers were very nice and generous. I tipped them with all my change, and they were very grateful as they should unlike some other places where they do not acknowledge. The prices were reasonable. I wish they had some gluten free options as well.

This is one of the best French bakeries if not THE best French bakeries in town. We ordered the egg royale, French toasts and a bunch of croissants. The ‘everything cheese’ was delicious (ask for it warmed). It’s like every bite was meticulously baked to satiate your taste buds. You can never go wrong at this place no matter what you eat. Semi the owner and his staff are all so nice and generous. We love this place.

I’ve never been here but a friend brought me a cinnamon twist 7 hours after she bought it and I couldn’t even tell. It was so delicious and the outside of the bread was nice and crunchy with the glaze. It was perfect to say the least.

We tried a variety of baked goodies from bakery and it’s definitely one of the best of the area.The croissants were really good, with a great layering and great balance of ingredients.We were pleasantly surprised by the pistachio croissant too which was really good! The cinnamon roll is 10/10 one of the best we’ve tried. Ever.The ganache was the only one that we didn’t personally like since it’s filling was more of a pudding than ganache, but the rest of the pastries were delicious.The baguette and cake were really good too!

Small but amazing bakery with some great breakfast items. We ordered the avocado toast and it was fantastic. Then saved space for some great pastries, a croissant topped with pistachios and another flaky pastry with creme and berries. Just something as simple as this can put a big smile in your face and a great start to your day. If you are ever in this area, its a must to visit. It gets busy though.

This place has gotten more and more popular. It is usually pretty good. I have eaten some croissants that are not that crispy (flaky), almost like they were not baked on the same day. In general, I do recomend this place and it is nice to sit there and drink a coffee. The outside patio is a good addition to the place.

A bakery specializing in Franch-inspired bakeries.The pastry here was delicious both for adults and elementary school girls. These pastries taste better and feel more comfortable when purchased at a specialty store rather than making them at home.Chaupain Bakery has two branches. There are new stores in Laguna Hills and San Clemente that I visited. I felt that it was a good place to eat outside or take out on a sunny day.

This is one of my mom and Is favorite bakeries. Although the pastries arent the cheapest, they are so fresh and delicious! Worth every penny. We recently tried the breakfast burrito and croissant sandwich as well, and were very much satisfied. Will be returning for more!

Met a friend at this easy-access spot near the 73/5. We joined the queue and loaded up on quiche and pastries. Seating is outside patio (adjacent to the parking lot) only. Nice umbrellas, so plenty of shade. This place is very flexible - meet for a meal or just coffee. Take home or enjoy on site. Really impressive lamination on the croissants.

After a disappointing visit at Moulin bakery in Newport beach ( pic with the 2 coffees), we decided to try Chaupain Bakery and everyone loved it. Those were proper French pastries: super flaky, buttery and very fresh! The kids especially loved the almond custard croissants with chocolate chips but everything was delicious 😋 will definitely go back!

The Chaupain Bakery is a wonderful French bakery with delicious pastries and coffee. If you’re looking for a bakery with great atmosphere for a quick snack, a sweet treat, or your morning coffee, this is the place. As a cafe, it’s not ideal for studying or working, as all seating is outdoors and there isn’t complimentary wifi. As well, I found the meal options to be a bit more expensive than I’d like. I got the eggs benedict with potatoes. The portion size was alright and flavor was pretty good, but the biggest issue was that it was served on a baguette. Again, it tasted great, but the shape and stiffness of the baguette doesn’t really work well for an eggs benedict. Still, the experience overall was positive, and I would recommend.

Tried them twice and wont waste my money anymore. French omelet was dried out! Scrambled eggs (ordered four eggs, got 2, not four) and potatoes had chives when I specifically ordered without chives. Potatoes were weirdly cooked and dried out. Strawberry Croissant is just ok, Ive had much better elsewhere. Baked goods are always over baked. Never again!

This place is delightful my bosses and partner won’t stop talking about amazing this place was so it’s around the corner from our office. I must say the pastries are so delightful and delicious freshly baked and packed with the right amount of sweet and savory. The place is so clean and the staff is so delightful. They greet you upon walking in and they ensure you are left super happy. Heads up each day they have different pastries so don’t get comfy getting the same one everyday which is totally fine with me they have taken care me even on my second day so I highly highly recommend anyone to come check them out. The montecristo is cooked to perfection the savory and sweet tender crisp of this sandwich is so divine. There omelette is tasty. You have to get their Borgia is soooooooooo amazing the mocha and orange dance on your palette lord mercy if I die today I would die happy. Stopped here for the first time this morning and it lived up to the hype! The line moved fairly swiftly, and there was a massive selection of pastries to choose from. I ordered one croissant and since it was my first time, they gave me a second. I absolutely loved the berry custard croissant. It was sweet, refreshing, and the pastry itself was flakey and delicious. Highly recommend!

Run dont walk to Chaupain Bakery, my favorite French Bakery in the OC.They recently added more outdoor dining in front of the bakery, but they have fantastic bread, pastry desserts, and Kefir cheese (a wonderful spread that comes in a lot of fruit flavors in additional to chocolate).My particular favorite item is the Sunrise Croissant which is similar to BLT but with candied bacon and a wonderful sauce and side salad. They also serve excellent coffee and have my gf’s favorite a cafe borgia (with orange zest)

Emotionality aside, because yes, the people were nice, and one wants to reward them for it, but at the end of the day all those high praises were not justified, because the selections we picked from turned out to be much less than 5 Stars. Sometimes you see 5 Stars in abundance, and then a rare 3 Stars, or even 2 Stars, and one thinks that those reviews were posted by naysayers. Well, not really, because after trying the goods for a tune of $50 plus combined, the results for us were definitely not 5 Stars, not even 4. Items purchased:3 kind of Baguettes at $3+ each? The regular very nice, soft inside, a little crunchy outside, nicely baked (not too light, not too dark). 4.5 Stars. Olive Baguette: dark beyond repair, toasted at the ends. This dark statement has a lot to do with this place, perhaps too long in the oven? This olive baguette 2.5 Stars. Sourdough Baguette (bought 2) better than the olive, not as good as their regular. 3.5 Stars.Pumpkin Muffin, $2.15+? Bought 2, received banana instead. Let’s just say Costco’s put these ones to shame. 2.5 Stars.Almond Croissant, $4.30 each? Dark beyond understanding. Bulky, and the almond paste inside ratio was 5 to 10%. See attached photo. Croissant inside nice, since it was mostly sweetened dough. This is not excellence by a long shot, which makes one wonder where all those perfect reviews validate themselves. 3 Stars.The dough is the same in multiple items, the baking technique were the products look definitely dark, and when I asked the nice lady why so dark, she replied that it was normal due to the dough. I arched my eyebrows and held my peace. Here is a good point: if Chaupin is a 5 Stars, then the best bakery from France is a 15 Stars. I went there based on the glowing reviews, and by all means, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but pretty please, slow down on the 5 Stars, it is a little disappointing to arrive and find out it isn’t so. Bought also Scones, Lemon Tart, etc. 2.5 Stars.

I went on a weekend midmorning and this place was hopping. There was a line and the seating was all full. The selection of pastries was nice- I got a spinach and cheese croissant, chocolate pistachio croissant, and a chocolate almond cream croissant. They were beautiful but too heavy; I normally eat pastries like this effortlessly but these didnt sit well with my stomach. Ive had light, delicious pastries at other bakeries so I dont think Ill be back.

What a delicious find!!!! I am so glad I searched Yelp for “best muffin” and Chaupain was a top hit!! I had the croissant egg and cheese sandwich to which I added ham. My son enjoyed a pain au chocolat (surprise surprise). My iced coffee was really tasty too. The cafe is small inside but has A/C and they let us use the bathroom in the back. The staff was super friendly and it’s really great to have this kind of place in Laguna Hills. We will be back soon!

My girlfriend and I went here for lunch. A mistake was made and one of our items did not get submitted to the kitchen. When I initially brought up the question of that item, the staff and I figured out the issue and they were helpful, courtesy and accommodating for the error. Very disappointed. I had been looking forward to my first visit to Chaupain and trying the Croque Monsieur. I asked for no chives. When I received my plate, there were a few chives, which I removed without issue. Also on my plate were some chunks of green bell peppers. I had fresh fruit and not a salad. Again, I can deal with it. Then I found a short hair on the side of the bowl that the fresh fruit came in. This bowl is sitting on my plate too. I went inside and let them know and get a new bowl of fresh fruit. Unfortunately, I just could not get over the hair and finding that my sandwich had somewhat of a bell pepper taste which this sandwich should NEVER have. I know that I am picky but this was just too much. I could not finish my food. I would have given 1 star but my husband loved his sandwich so the 3 stars are from him.

Honestly, dont know how this place gets such high reviews. I had a ham and cheese croissant and a blueberry croissant. Ham and cheese was just so so. Blueberry was okay, but Ive had better. Wife had a strawberry croissant and a chocolate chip cream cheese croissant. Both just average at best. Service was good, but probably wont be coming back.

They have an amazing French Dip sandwich. Employees are very kind but have made mistakes on 100% of my orders over 3 visits - despite that, the sandwich is so good that I am happy to go back and at least the employees are very kind. The side salad was too green for me and the soup with the sandwich (au jus onion soup) was way way way overly salty but the sandwich is so good that you should try it! Love it.

Our church ordered 100+ mini quiches and mini pastries from Chaupain for Easter Sunday, and we were blown away not only by the deliciousness of everything, but by the excellent customer service as well! Usually fantastic but this last time was very disappointing. French roll on the club sandwich was hard and painful to eat. Potatoes were barely cooked and had little to no seasoning. Iced coffee was served plain, no cream or sugar added and none was not offered. I used to recommend this place to my friends but I dont think Ill be eating anything except pastries from here. The best croissants I’ve ever had in the states. Rich and buttery, and the chocolate is dark but not bitter on the chocolate ones. The many flavors offered are less “traditional” but they are all done with quality, and artistry. The ham and cheese is Gruyere and so rich. Stayed at an Airbnb near here a few months ago and found this bakery while exploring the area. Me and my friends loved it so much we came back every single morning of the trip! Chaupain Bakery is a small bakery. It is an exceptional find. As others have commented, the staff members are friendly. I ordered a large coffee and the sun dried tomato quiche. That made for a yummy breakfast. I took home a baguette, which was very fresh. I picked up basil, cheese and meat at the grocer, and made a sandwich that placed me on the Seine.I love that the bakery opens at 6 am on weekdays. Consistently excellent and well prepared food, the bread and baked goods are delicious. Great service and reasonable priced and a very nice eating area.

Love Chaupain. Delicious sandwiches and delicious pastries. Owners are very friendly. Tough to beat this spot for quick French fare.
