We love Eric’s Deli! Eric’s in Capitola is one of our regular haunts and we’ve been coming for years especially when we have a craving for soup and half sandwiches. Everything is freshly made and the place is clean.

In the 20 minutes I was waiting for my turkey sandwich I got to see one customer return with the wrong food, and another customer had to ask for her food because they had forgotten her order, and to top it off, they made me the wrong sandwich. I asked for a refund at that point, but there was no Im sorry, no anything, just a blank look, and then he asks me for the receipt, After he tells me what the total was for my refund. Im sorry, but this was a major let down, if the guys are working, dont go in. Just wait for the ladies.

They messed up all 6 of our sandwiches, after taking forever to make them. Definitely choose to walk out if you see a bunch of just teenage boys working. Theyre more interested in talking to each other than making things right and quickly.

Unfortunately, the Eric’s on 41st Ave has gotten really poor. The last two times I have ordered food to go, they have gotten it wrong, and not like it was a special request and they made it wrong, like gave me the complete wrong thing. I got clam chowder instead of beef stew, and this last time I ordered a Reuben, that is supposed to be warm, and on the swirl bread, but what I got cold pastrami on sour dough. Its just poor, and disappointing because I have been coming here for years and the food is still very good, but service, not so great, and as its to go, I never notice till home.

My family and I have patronized Erik’s since the 1970’s.Times have changed.In the last 3-5 years, we’ve found staff to be apathetic, unfriendly and sometimes rude.Additionally, the soups and chili are not made there; they are made by some restaurant supply chain. So what is the big back kitchen for? All the salad and sandwich ingredients are up front.Their chili used to be thick and rich, but now it’s been probably at least 25% diluted with extra sauce in place of beans and meat.Staff often forgets to supply crackers or toppings (cheese and onions for chili) all of which are supposed to come with soups and chili.The chicken pesto sandwich has been disappointing. Not hot, and some of the chicken had straw-like texture. Weird. Like it wasn’t chicken at all.I presume the staff is unhappy, perhaps under paid. That’s how it seems, anyway. I know Covid was difficult for restaurants, so we do try to take that into consideration.

Noticed another review saying the staff seems unfriendly. I think theyre overworked and slightly disorganized. Never thought they were actively trying to be rude or unfriendly. But the food is decent and reasonably quick. Slightly more expensive than what I would prefer, but what isnt?

I cannot believe my good fortune in finding this Erik’s. There are 3 young women who work here, and one is more courteous and competent than the next. Erik’s food generally is good, but rude staff has kept me away from other locations.But this location is consistently excellent! I hope these three ladies are appreciated and acknowledged by their management, as they truly are exceptional!

Service was great. Came fast. Been liking for years. This time was just as great as always. Had the turkey, dressing, and cranberry. One of my favorite.

100% fresh and delicious. Got the farmers market and it was amazing!
