I can see why Gayles Bakery is so popular. There are so many choices, and its all delicious! Their bakery items are made daily, and to die for.You can take the family there, and find something that everybody likes or you can go there by yourself. Or you can take it home. The main place that people eat is a large permanent tent. You take a number, get in line, when your number is called, someone helps you with your order. After you pay for your order, you can take it home, or you take it to a table. After your meal, you take your dishes and bus them.Everything Ive gotten there, Ive loved! The atmosphere is cutesy, artsy, and comfortable. There is a free parking lot. It is wheel chair accessible, and the bathrooms are available outside and around the building.

Have been coming to Gayles since I was a little kid. Its always a delicious treat to stop in when Im in the area. They are a family favorite and a community staple. Its been wonderful watching them grow over the years. When I was younger they didnt have the covered/heated patio, nor did they have live music. Last time I stopped in they had a jazz band playing inside the warm and cozy patio and it was fantastic. Its good to come early in the day before they run out of items in the evenings. They can be very popular throughout the day. Come in and grab a number from their ticket machine by the door, and wait for your number to be called after having browsed their delights. My personal go-to pastry items include their Bear Claws, Maple Pecan Crocodiles, Marionberry Turnovers, and their Pecan Schnecken. The Marionberry Turnovers are great if you have a sweet-tooth like me. The Crocodiles really show off their baking skills in my opinion, and are super tasty. My go-to deli items are their Balsamic Citrus Glazed Quarter Chicken and Spinach Gorgonzola Pasta (vegetarian). Or if youre catching breakfast, their Scrambled Egg Croissants (vegetarian) are delicious. They do a huge variety of salads and sandwiches as well. Their soup rotation is also amazing.Dont let my suggestions limit you though, they have so much more to choose from that will satisfy nearly any palate. They make cookies, pies and cakes as well, and will do personalized cakes for parties too.Theres something extraordinarily unique about how Gayles does their pastries, specifically their breads and crusts, no joke. Its always a perfectly warm taste of home thats just right. That perfect Maillard reaction...If youre in the Santa Cruz area at all you need to grab some Gayles.

This place made my heart sing for joy!!! So many options to choose from. Somebody has put a heck of a lot of thought, work and effort into this menu over the years. Very good price for good quality food. I loved how you can get quality meals to go. And I mean quality!! I got the green chili enchilada to go along with some carrot cake and a few more pastries. Delicious!! Be ready when they call your number. The staff has this down to an art! They were very helpful and did a good job guideing new people like me through the ordering process. I loved how well they packaged up my order!! Great job everyone!

Real cakes, pastry and bread baked in old fashioned french style; with full fat butter and quality ingredients. If youve grown up on costco baking, this is a treat.

I, like a lot of folks in the area, have been a fan of the chocolate mousse cake is the picture, a birthday tradition in our family. I love the Capitola sour round bread, croissants and a wide variety of their products. They tend to be on the high side for price but equally on the high side for quality.

They have some of the most delicious Savory food on top of having some tasty baked goods! This place is a must visit and you just have to try a little bit of everything. They have a little cafe seating area to enjoy your goods.

The food is very good but pricey. The grounds whith all the colorful flowers are beautiful. The place is always crowded and has good vibes.Payments with credit card only.I was wondering 🤔 whatever happened to the cute paper coffee cups with green stripes. I want them back 😩I would also change the ugly plactic plates and bowls used to serve food for customers who dine in.

Been coming here over 20 years, never really had an issue with food or service. I love this place, its a staple in the community. This time I walked in and grabbed a number no big deal, looked up saw 4 on the screen, and was spaced out for maybe 10 sec and then I realized the person who was helping me was calling my number, so I quickly raised my hand, said Im 5, and they were shaking their head! I noticed another employee also visibly upset that a customer was a little spaced out and took a while to respond.I brought it up with the person helping me, and hashed it out kind of, but it definitely feels like Im being gasllit here.I dont want to go into one of my favorite places to eat and get treated that way, no one should. No system is perfect I get it but be nice to people 👍

A trip to Gayle‘s when in Capitola is obligatory! Walk in, grab a number, and then you have some decisions to make. From the deli, bakery, coffee counter, there are so many delicious options. I’ve basically decided I could live on their Italian sandwiches on thin baguette bread. There are usually 3 different choices and the ingredients vary, including a vegetarian option. They have a nice covered seating area, or take something to go and enjoy on the beach. This last visit I had a croissant that was a bit dryer than it should have been, but most often everything is perfect. Sometimes difficult to find parking in the lot and you do have to wait, but it’s for a reason.
