Hot dishes are good and comfy, the chicken skewer was really great. Yes, the space is a bit rundown but honestly I think that’s a vibe. It’s charming. They did change the space since I last came here, though. I prefer how it was before, more open. Like this is good for romantic dates or meetings because there’s privacy. I wish they had the servers come in and talk to you though instead of just ordering everything on a tablet.

We went for late dinner, it wasnt that crowded and we sat right away. We noticed the ipad on the table, thought it was pretty cool, so started to browse the menu, but the ipad was a little slow and non responsive. The food came fast, and the tech and vibe are pretty cool.

A go-to for casual/late night dining and yummy comfort food! Sasaya is a cozy and authentic izakaya that offers a variety of Japanese tapas and drinks. Their kushiyaki is especially good and their prices are reasonable (for todays standards). I personally like their system of ordering via tablet at your table and our usual waitress is always friendly, thoughtful and efficient. If you order takeout, the packaging is done with care and hot items remain hot for a while. Their desserts are also quite delicious! Highly recommend!

This place is fantastic. We came in looking for a late dinner and everything was outstanding. I especially liked the smokey duck skewers and the salmon / avocado roll. My wife loves mentaiko so she got the mentai-udon which was perfect. The chazuke to end the meal was just right. Highly recommended

Furniture is janky and falling apart and the tables are sticky. Some of the skewers are absolutely amazing (the beef tongue was my favorite, and the tomatoes were splendid), but some of the food doesnt work (the uni scallop was a surprising disappointment, and the quail eggs had an unappealing texture) which is regrettable given the high price tag. Its a shame because the place was one of my favorites before Covid hit.

Kinda grungy place. Its pretty dirty and uncleaned, with junk strewn about and the ceiling falling apart. The waitress must have hated her job because she didnt say a single thing when she brought the food, and I ordered several times. The Kushi is good but the Okonomiyaki sucked. Took like 30 minutes and it was both burned and undercooked at the same time. Everything is overpriced too. Also I was served a warm glass with my beer :($50-60 per person so may as well go to a nicer place nearby. Although if you really want kushi yaki then this place isnt bad.

Been coming here since 2021, and it’s such a lovely place. The atmosphere is so cozy, the food is yummy, definitely get some skewers here, and the drinks are decently priced. I typically get an order of kitsune udon of the mental butter udon, and share sashimi with my friends. Service is good, too! Never had a problem here.

This is LA s best kept secret..not kidding. The owner Koichi is very welcoming and friendly and our absolute fav Assistant Manager Mio is super attentive and makes the best recommendations. Now to the food...you will never and I mean never be disappointed! The flavors are great and the menu is wonderfully curated. All in all this is one of my favorite places.

Can’t believe I have not come here sooner! Love the variety of izakaya foods on the menu. Everything we had was delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try more.
