Its the best ramen place for me. The taste of the ramen is authentic. I love it. Ive been going to Kai Ramen ever since I moved here in Los Angeles. Wow. Now THIS is ramen done right! I ordered the Volcano Ramen and it was amazing! So delicious, not too hot (just right amount of spice), and looked amazing when brought to us. Came here with a party of 4 right before the dinner rush (around 6pm on a Saturday night) and we were luckily able to get a table within 10 minutes of getting there. The service was excellent, we got seated, got our waters, and they were fast to get our orders to us. Definitely try the appetizers, but make sure you save room for the ramen because it is so delicious you’ll want to finish the whole bowl! I’ll definitely come back here again to try more of their ramen, hoping to be a regular here soon.

Does nobody in Sherman Oaks know what good ramen is? I came here with high expectations because of the high reviews, but every ramen dish we ordered was extremely disappointing.Another review had said the tsukemen was similar to Tsujita on Sawtelle, but it was a far cry! No bamboo shoots, the soup was too sweet, the meat was tough,and the noodles were not cooked properly. Unfortunately that was still the best ramen item we ordered out of 3.The volcano ramen came in second place but was barely edible. They ran out of the usual chicken it comes with, so we subbed the sesame chicken as our waiter recommended. Bad idea! The sesame chicken was so hard there were many pieces we had to throw out. The soup was again too sweet, and the other flavor was just tasteless spicy.The last ramen we ordered was the dry ramen, which is supposed to taste like mazemen. But when they say dry ramen, I guess they mean the noodles and everything are really DRY. And the flavors were terrible. It was basically inedible and none of us really touched it. We hate wasting food so we ended up taking it home with the leftover soup from the volcano ramen and tsukemen, and its at least edible the second day.The only things that were decent were the appetizers and the service, which is why Im giving 2 stars. The shishito peppers were the best thing we ordered, and the takoyaki was not bad either. A bit pricey at $7 for 4 pieces of takoyaki though.All in all, Ill never come back here even if Im craving ramen. Its worth the drive down to Sawtelle on the westside for some REAL ramen.

Definitely one of the best Ramen Spot in the area! We tried the Chicken and Classic Ramen. They give really good portions unlike other places, definitely worth checking out if youre ever in the areaDont park in the street, theres enough parking in the plaza if its your first time visiting, maybe even call ahead of time if youre in a rushWill definitely be coming back and try the other Ramens they have!

Its a small location inside a shopping center so parking is a pain they do have some street parking but thats also a pain. But it is so worth the wait. This was our first time here and we left super happy with not only our meals but with our service. The staff is super nice and friendly. The dining area and restroom was very clean. It doesnt have kid friendly food unless you child likes eat this type of food. At least mine didnt want to try anything. We will definitely be coming back for more. Dont let its location or parking fool you it very well worth the wait.

Awesome experience! Felt like a very authentic Japanese Ramen shop. For Naruto fans, it felt like I was sitting at Ichi Rakus.Service was excellent & very fast! There was a fairly long line when I arrived, but I was seated very quickly. Servers were also very personable!

Its hard to find an amazing Ramen shop in the valley but Kai Ramen takes the trophy. They dont have many options on the menu but the quality of their food is where they shine the most. I recommend ordering some of their delicious appetizers such as the garlic edamane or spicy fried chicken. For cold days, I suggest the spicy chicken ramen especially on rainy days. The wait time isnt bad but its usually busy. I dont recommend large parties due to how small it is.

Delicous hole in the wall ramen that is usually busy, immediately proving its popularity in the neighborhood. The space itself is small and modest inside, so its not the place youd wanna take a first date, but definitely a place youd want to take your girlfriend if she cant decide where to eat. This place is full of flavor with a pretty fair-sized menu. I only had chicken dishes with the spicy chicken, spicy chicken ramen, and my girlfriend with the regular chicken ramen. They were delicous and the protein itself was amazingly tender. Im used to ramen places boiling or preparing their meat beforehand and it being a bit more dry or bland, that wasnt the case here!The only cons are that it is small, whenever they are slammed, service may be a little spotty, and there is no beer available like in many ramen spots...otherwise, its a quality ramen spot that you have to try if you love ramen. Full of umami!

This was my first visit at Kai Ramen and what can I say I’m in love with this place. I am living in Hawai’i so I’m kind of spoiled when it comes to good ramen and I’m also very picky.The staff was very friendly and we were greeted with a smile :)I ordered gyoza, fried sesame chicken and Kai’s Black Ramen.The gyoza were really fantastic. So much flavor in every bite (well they actually melted in my mouth).The chicken was really good too and it was a huge serving size (bigger than I expected).My (Kai’s Black) Ramen was sooo delicious. So much flavor and the ramen noodles had just the right texture. The egg was perfectly seasoned and cooked. So very ono (yummy).This was hands down the best ramen I had here on the mainland.The restaurant was also very clean and we were seated and able to check out in a very timely manner besides it being a bit busy. And again everything was served with a smile. I’ll definitely recommend this place and I will be back to try some of the other ramen dishes.

Phenomenal spot for Ramen. We ordered the steamed buns for appetizers and black ramen for the entree. All of it was great! Highly recommend the buns. Our server Noriko (sp?) was very helpful and nice. Would definitely come back if in the area again.I rated atmosphere specifically low because in and of itself, it’s not great. It was a bit toasty inside, small space, and had a leaky air conditioner. However, this doesn’t really take away from the experience and quality of service and food.

I just have to go back before returning to Manila (maybe for good?). Im going to miss the place, the food and the staff especially the girl with short hair and glasses....i dont even know her name. Lets start off with the somewhat harsh news. If youre unvaccinated you will need to dine outdoors and they dont have many seats outdoors available so the wait may be long. Other than that the ramen is great! Very tasty and flavorful. The egg is yummy and the noodle is cooked perfectly. Great ramen. I got the tonkotsu classic and it was perfect.

Still shaken by the loss of Anthony Bourdain, I did the only think I could think of to do... take my family for noodles. Kai Ramen was one of the highest rated on yelp, so I thought we’d give it a try.The food was very good. My wife was in love with her bowl and I liked mine as well. The pot stickers and Mochi were very good too. The staff was super friendly and attentive.This is in a plaza so there is parking. Don’t let the B health rating fool you. Two stars for a disappointing bowl of ramen consisting of undercooked and underwhelming noodles, an over cooked egg, and one very thin slice of pork belly. Broth was bland and lacking flavor. I also tried the fried rice spicy tuna appetizer. Rice was overcooked and tuna was rather bland. A health inspection grade B hangs on the door. I will say that the service was very good though.

The Japanese curry is delicious, their beef bowl keeps me coming back, and the attentive staff make you feel welcome every time you’re there. Im not sure what the owners problem was but Ive never been to a restaurant where customers (or a selected customer) is told to hurry up and leave by the owner because they were apparently busy. Telling a paying customer whos dining in to get out after their late meal is unheard of. I work in customer service and the tone and approach in this manner this is very unacceptable. But if youre the owner I guess you can get away with it and people let them. Do not support this restaurant at all. Go to a more welcoming diner with good vibes, great customer service and one that needs the support.

Broth is amazing but be careful of it being slightly being eggy.The bad: Appetizer came out after the main dishes. Parking pretty limited and difficult but great news, parking is free. 2 stars bc of better experience in the past, but last night was potentially a crime, not joking. First it took nearly 30 min to get the food; I complained after 25 min, but waitress said yours is almost ready! so I sat back down and shut up. Maybe I was a d¡ck, if so I apologize. When the food came out, it tasted ok, not great then a couple hours later I was doubled over in stomach pain and multiple trips to bathroom. Now idk whether they intentionally gave me food poisoning because they thought I was a d¡ck for complaining about the long wait, or if it was unintentional. Hopefully the latter. The food here gets 5 stars for sure. But last time I was there the boss, or what I think was the boss guy, treated his staff so rude I felt indignation for them. Using total tech bro talk to pretty much say they are too slow and need to be trained again and telling the cook in spanish that hell be in early to make sure they actually work. The vibes were just off completely, which sucked because the food really is yummy. The moment we walked in to get a seat he was berating the waitress. I dropped the biggest tip I could muster because no one deserves to be treated that way. My perception of this place is just totally stained knowing my money goes to someone like that. Idk, come here I guess for the good food and treat the waitresses nicely, you might be the only nice voice they hear while on shift.

We wanted ramen after 9pm and this location popped up. The staff was friendly. We ordered different ramens, and I got to try the bomb and regular ramen. The bomb was okay, it had lots of ground pork which wasnt easy to grab with chopsticks. The regular ramen was great.

Ive worked in kitchens more than half of my life, and in many on and around Ventura Blvd. Im disappointed that Ive never come into Kai Ramen before l, even though I live so close by. Hands down, this place crushes Tamashii, Jinya, and all the other more popular valley ramen spots.First of all, our kitchen got hit hard by the pandemic as well, and we all know its impossible to find decent staff right now. My friend and I drove up around 8:30 and saw they were packed with a help wanted sign in the window, and only one waitress, a busser, and two cooks. Even still we were greeted and sat immediately, and well taken care of the entire time. Its a small spot with about 8 tables inside, bar seating, and new patio seating. They had a ton of pick-up and third party orders but we still got our appetizers and meals within 15 minutes.The pork buns were a perfect two person appetizer, with a huge portion of insanely tender meat, and the garlic edamame was standard, but delicious nonetheless.We both ordered massive bowls of ramen with tons of add-ons and extras, which I still somehow managed to finish (before hobbling home with a newly pregnant belly). Usually anytime I find a new ramen joint, if they have it I go for the black ramen, or some other heavily pork based broth. With the extra bok choy, scallions, black garlic, and double noodles, it easily could have been 2-3 meals. The food isnt cheap, but its honestly underpriced for how solid the quality is. The broth was insanely flavorful without being too thick or fatty. All the proteins for both of our meals were generous portions and ridiculously tender.Honestly Im writing the review because I feel so much for kitchens like this that are understaffed, overworked, and still pushing out such high quality food and keeping their cool. Its not easy to work in the restaurant industry even in the best of times, so much love and thanks to the kitchen and waitstaff of Kai Ramen. The terrifying Los Angeles heat keeps me away from soup a lot of the time, but Ill probably swing by every paycheck I get!

We love Kai Ramen!!!! We go there for family dinner nights and they never disappoint. My son and I always get the tonkatsu classic. Mine with extra noodles and his with and extra egg. I’m going to be honest, I love food. This place is an insult to the food world. I got the teriyaki chicken rice bowl, and the rice was poorly cooked, the chicken was of inferior quality, and the egg was just sad. Everything was low quality. The lemonade tasted like they put dishwater and lemons together. In my personal opinion, the only good thing was the Ramune soda. I am begging any newcomers not to go there. You would be making a big mistake.

This Ramen Bar is absolutely TOP TIER. I used to live near here and this restaurant was the reason ramen surpassed sushi as my favorite food. Now that I don’t live near here, I can’t find any Ramen Bar that even competes with Kai Ramen. Kai Ramen is an absolute blessing to have near you, so you should seriously eat there.

Sadly this was a poor choice for my son and I today. Quality was nonexistent. Rice was poorly cooked - I expect better from a restaurant that serves Japanese food. The vegetable fried rice had zero vegetables in it (unless you count canned corn and bean sprouts!) and was greasy, sloppy and unappetizing. We only ate a tiny bit because we were starving, but frankly, it was not good at all. Will not be coming back.

I ordered the Kai Ramen Red and some takoyaki, and as you can tell it was delicious! The staff was very welcoming, energetic, and just welcomed you like family. It honestly is one of the more hidden spots in the valley when it comes to ramen, but it genuinely is a gem. Im so glad I tried this place out. Waitress was very polite and friendly and helped guide me through the menu (I am a ramen novice). I wish I had taken some photos of my meal, but given how hungry I was, there simply wasnt enough time. Everything was promptly devoured after being placed in front of me.The service was phenomenal! Greeted as soon as we walked in, expeditiously seated, and within a few minutes my order was being made! I cannot describe the flavors of the ramen I ordered, except I will say it was unlike anything I have ever tasted before. Everything was seasoned perfectly, the pork melted in my mouth, the broth had just the right amount of spiciness. Not too salty, not too savory, just perfect really. I ordered the Kais Red (Spicy) with Gyoza Potstickers. Omg.... Heaven!The parking was a little tricky because the amount of traffic this single Ramen shop generates is enough to cause a lot of congestion. Honestly, most of the businesses in this plaza seem to be pretty popular. I asked why since they close at 10 and was told that it is the north hollywood branch that closes at 10 but the evidence remains that online it says their location closes at 10. I tried to call to place an order and no answer before or after I showed up in person. I HAVE OFFICIALLY FOUND MY FAVORITE RAMEN SHOP IN THE VALLEY!- Parking -For starters, it is located in the same plaza as some of my other favorites like Sushi Mac. The parking is free for one hour only and if its particularly busy, like lunch or dinner rush, it may be very difficult to find a spot.- Ramen -Theres a good selection of ramen to choose from and I did see tsukemen as an option, which Ill certainly have to order on my next visit! I ordered the Kais white ramen $10.50 and my mom ordered the Tonkatsu classic for $9.00.The broth is so rich and the noodles are thick and cooked to a perfect medium. What I like about their ramen is that there are already so many toppings included, such as a soft boiled egg, dry seaweed, garlic, green onions, and bean sprouts. You can always add more if you like. One gripe I have is that the soft boiled egg isnt as runny as I certainly enjoy having it, but it was still very tasty. The chashu cuts are so thick and juicy with a perfect amount of fat to keep that flavor locked in. Everything came out in perfect portions!- Special offers -On Yelp you get 7% cash back bonus if you have a linked card. They also have a check in offer for a free side of garlic or spicy pickle jar but these are both already free toppings, so I hope they change that promo. They do, however, give you a free dessert in exchange for a review. My mom ordered the almond tofu and I got green tea ice cream. The almond tofu comes in a small ramekin and the ice cream comes in a bowl that is perfect for sharing. The tofu seems to be homemade and it is absolutely delicious! The green tea satisfies a craving, but isnt too strong in flavor.One thing I really like is that they give you garlic cloves in a jar with a hand mincer for you to squeeze into your ramen.- Service -To be quite frank, it was alright. My server seemed to rush us very often even though she was very sweet. She was patient and a decent server so I have no complaints there.- Ambience and presentation -Theres something off about this place and I blame part of it for the lighting and the organization of their store. Perhaps if they invested in dimmed lighting it would work better. I also didnt like the way the store was organized. It felt very off-putting to see a table near the back stacked with cups and pitchers and some plastic shelves on the front. Not to mention that the light up sign for their entrance only says RAMEN instead of its business name. I think presentation and ambience are vital to a restaurant, so they lose a star for this.--Overall, I absolutely enjoyed my visit here. The food is definitely worth coming back for and with their to-go and Grubhub options, I know that they are only a phone call away!

The spinach noodles, veggie and broth really are a rave. I was told the Popeye Ramen is also a winner and can be done without flavored egg... Definitely next on my list. Run to this place, its a must eat for Ramen in LA. A bowl runs between $10-13. Get there before 6pm and you can just walk in and get a table. Expect a wait if you come at dinner time (Saturday night, 7pm, 35 mins wait for 2) but you can count on the ramen being well worth the wait. Rivaling Daikokuya in Sawtelle and even the one in Little Tokyo, Kai Ramen offers amazingly delicious and authentic ramen right in the valley.The broths are complex and delicious, from their signature Pork based - Kai (white, red, and black) to the classic tonkotsu. The chicken broth is also fantastic and easily the best Ive ever tasted. The chashu bowl is absolutely delicious and a steak at $8.50.Speaking of, the pork is the best Ive ever had in a ramen dish. The soft boiled eggs were marinated all the way to the yolk (done the right way!). The noodles were fantastic and there were plenty of them! She offered us the toppings of garlic, ginger, and spicy pickles. The spicy pickles are so good!!!!! Never had them before. Would be so good with plain white rice. Best ramen in Los Angeles. The popcorn chicken is incredible and I recommend getting a side of it regardless of which ramen you choose. Ate there about a hour ago paid 33.00 for two soups left them full one of them had hair the other was full of oil waitress didn’t ask what was wrong with the food nothing I left the hair on the top of the plate so they can see they messed up never again
