2023-10-12 02:24:13Kanpai is an excellent little Japanese restaurant found on Wilshire and 22nd in Santa Monica. I have been to the original location many times and decided to try this location closer to my home. It did not disappoint. The sushi and the salmon teriyaki was delicious. The quality of the food is elevated with a great presentation so this is a must for foodies. My compliments and respect to the chef. You can find menu items here that are original and only found at this restaurant. We tried this new cucumber dish. Mind blowing. The service is personable and quick. The atmosphere is casual and feels cozy and works with the delicious cuisine. I wish I had taken photos of the food.

2023-11-21 19:07:26The place is small but they have good service. The rolls are a little bit pricy but it’s good. I love the ramen, broth is good and they serve really big bowls.

2022-08-26 00:20:45THE best sushi in LA hands down. Quality of and variety of fish available is a second to none. Order off the menu. The menu and sake variety is so large it doesn’t fit on the menu. Truly exquisite. Peter is a great guide through the menu if you are unsure. Parking is ample at the back of the restaurant.

2023-03-08 17:52:27$$$Great quality Japanese food. If you sit at the bar you can watch them make the sushi. My date and I were mesmerized as we watched the process, with the chef artfully preparing the sushi dishes. Good combo of authentic Japanese food and also westernized Japanese food.We ordered the deep fried gyoza, and deep fried salmon roll appetizer to start. Then we ordered a spicy salmon roll which wasnt on the menu but they made it anyway, and then we shared a spicy miso ramen. The ramen was delicious, broth was good, the pork slices were soft, and my date enjoyed the pork even though she doesnt normally like the pork. I also ordered their Japanese beer on special that day. Perfect pair for the food. For dessert we ordered matcha mochi ice cream that paired well with the sliced strawberries.Overall 8.75/10. Would order the ramen again.

2022-08-07 20:32:45Absolutely amazing! Not what we expected from what appears to be a hole in the wall type restaurant from the street. Everything was perfect. From the tempura veggies to the sushi to the chicken. Perfection. And the wait staff? Just as impeccable as the food. Cant wait to go back.

2022-12-26 03:09:01Really wanted to like this place, but its pretty mid. The tamago was off, but they kindly replaced it. The food was okay. the music was so so. the interior was plain. Not a very special place. The uni did not taste good (on toro). The display of food is very, very pretty, though. A+ on placement.

2023-02-25 07:50:19Hands down one of my top favorite spots for ramen now. The sushi bar threw me off but the ramen kept seated. The ramen here is unique, and what I mean is, they have this Yuzu Shio Ramen, I’ve never had Yuzu in my ramen and I don’t think I can have it without now.The broth was immaculate, rich on the front and citrusy with back notes. The noodles were to die for; Al dente and rich in flavor. The chashu was next level, crispy on the edges and so tender you can rip it with your tongue. And lastly the portions were on on the generous side. Nothing but things about this place, servers were nice and the ambiance of the restaurant was clean and prestine. I can’t wait to come back and try they miso ramen!!

2021-12-03 04:51:46Part of a small chain (three locations on the west side), good fresh fish and very interesting chirashi sushi. One small quibble is the sesame chicken is a bit on the salty side. Quick tip: while street parking may be hard to find, there are spaces accessible in the alley behind the restaurant.

2022-06-20 20:30:13My boyfriend and I went here because there was a wait for another sushi restaurant down the street, and it ended up being one of the best meals! It is an unassuming place but the food was incredible. We got the spicy miso ramen and it was amazing!!! We split that as well as some sushi rolls. There was also a sake flight for $15 which was great.Overall, I highly recommend!
