No frills, bang-for-your-buck Japanese food in downtown Fresno. Friendly staff and quick service. Plenty of seating, plates came almost cafeteria/counter style. Poke was very over-sauced (wished the fish was highlighted more, seemed to be decent quality but couldnt really tell with the sauce). Noodles and gyoza tasted fresh with hearty flavor. Easy metered parking nearby, though it can get busy during peak hours. Good option for an easy and filling meal.

Kikku Japanese features traditional Japanese and fusion dishes; e.g., spicy chicken. I ordered #2 Teriyaki Tri-Tip Beef and Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura. Both were served with salad and sticky rice. Both were large portions and tasty. I arrived about 11 on a weekday. It appeared that most were regular customers and ordered ahead. Those that ordered ahead received their food first. I did not order ahead, and as I stood there waiting and watching others walk in and out with their lunch, I began to be a little concerned that my order was overlooked. I was glad when the owner or manager stopped by to let me know that my order would be out shortly. I really appreciate that. She also thanked me for my business and said she hoped to see me again.

Normally, I most likely would never return to a restaurant that used Styrofoam plates. I just cant stand them. But this place I plan on returning to repeatedly.The food was great. Tempura shrimp and vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly. There was plenty to eat as well. The place was very clean and the staff was as friendly as could be.As for the value; Ive spent more and gotten far less at many other restaurants. Im anxious to return with my wife and daughter so they can enjoy it. Even with the Styrofoam plates.

I used to love kikku downtown but they just arent what they used to be. Their food quantity keeps shrinking while their prices keep going up. Its over 16 dollars for a chicken salad which is just lettuce and breaded chicken. I asked for an extra cup of sauce and I was told it would be an extra 1.25 for a tiny cup of sauce....and then Im supposed to tip? Sadly 20 dollars for a salad is just too much ....and especially when other restaurants in the area offer similar food at better prices....Im sorry kikku but your ever increasing overly high prices are challenging my loyalty to you.

Soooo not the same restaurant from the beginning days. Quality of food went down while the prices went through the roof! The recipes and the care that went into, why we crossed busy streets to get to this place, totally lost its luster. The salad dressing totally watered down of its flavor. The amount of veggies is sadly disappointing.

Lovely staff. Very friendly. Ordered the Spicy Crispy chicken, the Downtown spicy chicken and tempura appetizer. Everything was delicious. I would definitely go here again and recommend for a quick bite. The decor was chill, lots of seating, and very clean restaurant. I hear it gets busy during lunchtime thought. I was here for dinner and it was fairly busy but food came out quick steaming hot. Definitely give it a try.

Teriyaki chicken plate is very good. Chicken has a nice char on it that pairs well with the sweet teriyaki sauce. The spicy crab roll is one of the best I’ve had. I would definitely go here again if I was in Fresno.

Went to lunch with 4 coworkers. The wait was decent. The service REALLY surprised 😮 me. We were asked by a live person, about 3 times, hows everything? Semi finer dining in take-out containers. Tempura veggies were cooked to perfection. Salmon too. Who knew you could ask for three of the specific veggies? Not me, but I know Ill be doing it on my next visit. Thanks for such a lovely dining experience.

Im a fairly normal customer to their location at palm and nees, and it was my first time to the downtown location. I was kind of disappointed with the cleanliness and appearance. An interior remodel is overdue if you ask me. That and I honestly think the food is better at the palm and nees spot. Or maybe it was the atmosphere that made the food seem less appealing 🤷‍♂️ That being said, the food was still really great. The sauce used for the spicy chicken dish is out of this world... no joke.

The customer service was great, the food was delicious and the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. Not only were we greeted upon entering, but also acknowledged by those leaving. Its not much but it does add to the restaurants environment when someone passing says bye, have a good day on their way out.I was expecting a little more vegetables then the one cold carrot & broccoli. The proportions were good for the price I paid & the 75¢ charge for white meat wasnt too bad. But overall, I enjoyed my experience.

I love this downtown restaurant, their app is flawless and their service is speedy. I can order, walk the 1.5 blocks and its ready when I get there for quick turn around. Everyone that works there has been very nice and cheerful even through the lock down and other adaptations that have been necessary. Try the spicy chicken rice dish. YUMMM!

Tempura is over a dollar each. I think their downtown location has lower prices. Chicken has a unique taste that is delicious. They also have yummy sauces for dipping. The food is great, however Ive dealt with owner who literally doesnt care how he treats his customers. He charges the same price despite running out of vegetable and no salad because of recall. Offered no discount or substitute. I told him how disappointed I was on how he treated his customers; he had no care whatsoever. I will not be supporting an individual like this any longer. We were excited to order Japanese food for my brothers birthday. He is disabled and Japanese food was all he could talk about. We had ordered food from Kikku twice in the past and find it to be good. We ordered from Grubhub and when the order arrived, a dinner was missing. I contacted the restaurant immediately. Initially, there was some question about the missing item even though the app and receipt could verify the order. The Grubhub driver could also validate that only two bags were delivered. They were willing to make another dinner to replace the missing order but required someone to pick it up. This obviously wasnt an option given we had ordered from Grubhub. It also would mean more expense to travel and take time away from the birthday. They ultimately refunded the dinner. It did not resolve the issue which was simply to have the dinner replaced and delivered.

This is one of the most frequented lunch stops downtown due to convenience and variety. They also have an app you can use to preorder so you can navigate the lunch rush. Thats great.Im going with 3 stars because of three things here that bother me:1. The food is decent. If you order a chicken or beef plate, youll get a good deal for the money paid. The potstickers, egg rolls, and sushi seem to be pre-made, but I could be wrong. It would explain how they are made so quickly.2. The prices could use an adjustment. Spending near $15 to $20 for one person is a bit much for me.3. The negative reviews left on here are met with prompt negative response from the owner, which is very bad customer service. Most companies would in response leave contact information to ask how they could have better served their customer. This one shifts the blame. Not acceptable.

As soon as I got here the manager was yelling at a customer, because she misunderstood her order. As soon as customer left the manager was making fun of the asian lady, mocking how she was talking where everyone could here here. Food was so bad, they served my food first and almost 30 minutes for the other order. They were all rude and unprofessional. I dont know why this place has 4.6 star review. Never going back again

Its nice to have options, so we were thrilled to have Japanese food nearby.It was good, portions were reasonable, but prices were a bit high. Parking is unavailable, and you have to find a meter on the street(and pay to patronize this establishment) we had to go around twice to find a meter.There are 2 parking lots surrounding, but they all say permit parking, and no signs direct you to the parking that the establishment should include for customers.1 combo plate teriyaki chicken, white rice and salad, 1 combo plate teriyaki chicken and beef, white rice and salad, add 3 piece tempura veggies and 2 drinks and total was $30.Served on styrofoam, drinks in styrofoam cups, plastic utensils which are fine, except thats Eat-In ware too.For the money, Id expect real plates and cups, real silverware to dine in.Overall, meal was good.I think prices are high because their rent must be high.
