Went there twice this week. Once for the proper dinner and then for the drinks on a later day.The ambience, the drink menu and the food choices are amazing. Most importantly, a very professional and courteous service staff.I didnt like the quality of the Steak I had though. I had Ribeye and my friends had KC strip and overall feeling was OK. For this price we expect better quality of the meat.

Food, service and decor 5 star! 2 bars we sat at the back bar, a little more intimate back there! Had the 20oz rib eye and added a lobster. Martini’s had fresh blue cheese stuff olives. The skillet buttery bread was yummy but don’t fill up on the bread. Attention to details all around. And they have valet service. We will be back!

Steak 48: A Chic and Upscale Dining ExperienceSteak 48 is a new restaurant in the neighborhood that will quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. With its upscale Newport or chic Vegas vibe, impressive decor, and delicious food, its no wonder why.The restaurants decor is both classy and polished, yet warm and inviting. There are unique features in each room, making it perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends. Theres even a casual bar club feel in one area, so you can enjoy a drink and some appetizers before or after your meal. One of the highlights of Steak 48 is its wonderful view kitchen. Here, you can watch as the chefs prepare your meal. The menu features a wide variety of steaks, seafood (on display), and other dishes, all of which were cooked to perfection. The service at Steak 48 is also excellent. Our waiter was well-seasoned and knowledgeable, and everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant dining experience. They are personal without being intrusive, and they ensure that you have everything you need without feeling rushed. The food at Steak 48 is on par with some of the best steakhouses Ive been to. They have an extensive wine list and feature a wide variety of traditional steakhoue choices on their menu. I was very impressed with their HUGH seafood selection. There is nothing shrimp about their SHRIMP. They are colossal!!The steak was perfectly prepared to the right temperature, and the Chilean seabass was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend keeping room for and choosing dessert. They have their own in-house pastry shelves.Overall, Steak 48 is a wonderful new addition to the neighborhood. Its a great place to go for a special occasion or a leisurely dinner with friends and family. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch. I left extremely impressed and cant wait to go back again soon.

As soon as you walk up to the entrance, the door is opened for you with this phrase delivered perfectly with a smile, “Welcome to Steak 48”.I can sum up my Steak 48 experience with one word… incredible. This was hands down the best dining experience I have ever had in San Diego, and it’s not even close! The Mastro brothers, Jeffrey and Michael, James Beard nominated chefs, are the brains behind this amazing restaurant. They are the original owners of the Mastro’s Steakhouses (which was sold to Landry’s over a decade ago). This is the Mastro brother’s return to steakhouses, Steak 48, and are we lucky they chose San Diego. Located in the space that use to house Burlap / Searsuckers in Del Mar Heights, Steak 48 looks nothing like those previous restaurants and it shows. Multiple dining areas, a great bar, endless types of wine on the wall, a butcher shop, a raw bar, and a wall of cleavers that is very IG worthy. The ambiance and decor are something that we’ve never had here in San Diego. This is all next level. The service is easily the best I’ve experienced in San Diego. Everyone was very attentive, welcoming, and friendly. Brian was our server, and he knocked it out of the park. Gave great recommendations, awesome sense of humor and good vibes. Russel, the bar manager, was also very attentive making sure everything was to our liking. The food, buckle up, because you are in for a treat! We started with the bread, which I almost completely devoured. Next up was the Superfood salad, which had a great champagne fir dressing and some very flavorful berries. I’m telling you the bar kept getting higher with everything that came out. The Bone-In Ribeye, medium rare, phenomenal. Add the truffle butter, it is out of this world! For sides we got the Truffled & Salted crispy fries, which are highly addictive. Sautéed sweet corn, amazing, and the sautéed wild mushrooms, WOW is all I have to say! For dessert we got wild, the Triple Chocolate Bomber, just get it. You’ll be happy you did!Just to keep this easy:-House Bread-Superfood Salad-Bone-In Ribeye with Truffle Butter-Truffled & Salted Crispy Fries-Sautéed Wild Mushrooms-Sautéed Sweet Corn-Triple Chocolate BomberWe both absolutely loved everything here! I was bummed when we left, if I wasn’t so full I would have kept ordering, so come hungry! The bar gets hopping. I would shoot for an 8-9 reservation if you want to be in the thick of it. Great energy! The complimentary cookies at the end were a nice touch. As full as I was I ate them… both. I can’t wait to go back!Steak 48, Welcome to San Diego :-)

We went for our anniversary dinner. Normally we go to a steak house so we were even more excited to try a new one in town! Steak 48 did not disappoint. From excellent service (only open two weeks and the waiter had the menu memorized) to amazing tasting food. I had the dry aged bone in ribeye. It was in the top 3 steaks I’ve ever had. Generous side portions provided as well. The wine prices were extremely reasonable and fit anyone’s budget. Make sure to take a tour of the kitchen and dessert case. It’s a huge makeover of this space from the previous searsucker. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Hands down the best steak house in San Diego. A great go to for special occasions. My husband and I were Trulucks fans and since Trulucks closed, the nearest place for Stone Crab is now Vegas. Steak48 had jumbo Stone crab claws shipped in. From the service to the dessert this place was exceptional. Extensive wine list, great cocktails, several Wagyu options, and the praline sweet potatoes made Ruth’s Chris sweet potato casserole sub par. For a new restaurant, the staff here were absolutely awesome, well trained and can’t wait to go again.

We came in for our second anniversary, and everything was amazing from start to finish. Unfortunately it started off with us being late due to an accident on the freeway. But the hostess team was more than helpful and accommodating and was still able to get us a beautiful table. We were then greeted promptly by Ronaldo who was incredibly friendly. As well as our server Taylor who was kind enough to go over the entire menu with us. A couple of the staff including the managers Bree and Stacey congratulated us on our special night. I had the pork chop which was perfectly cooked and seasoned, I highly recommend. They then sent us out a delicious vanilla cake that was amazing. It was an incredible experience and highly recommend to anyone.

I dont even know where to start, but the dining experience at Steak 48 Del Mar was absolutely marvelous! Service was very prompt, also with a personal touch for my partners birthday. Our server, Christina was such a gem. She explained things very thoroughly, and knew the menu and the food like the back of her hand. Some of the food we tried were the filet, shrimp and calamari, truffle fries, and Daniels potatoes. Everything ordered was very tasty. We look forward to coming back here!

I’d heard a lot about this group of steakhouses, and online reviews are generally very positive, so I was greatly anticipating dinner at Steak 48. While my experience was generally positive, there are definitely some things that kept it from being a five-star experience. The good:The staff was uniformly excellent. They are very attentive, friendly, and professional. They have been trained well. The steaks we had were high quality and cooked exactly as ordered.Portions are not stingy. The wine list is extensive and nicely curated. The markups on the reserve wine list are reasonable. The menu has a little something for everyone. The toilets were very clean, which is a good indication of how clean the rest of the restaurant is.The not-so-good:We found the restaurant to be very dark - dark enough that it was difficult to read the menu and a little hard to see what we were eating. The other issue with the physical space is the noise. Like too many restaurants these days, Steak 48 has a very noisy interior, with lots of hard surfaces that don’t absorb sound. I’m sure it didn’t help that we were in the vicinity of the bar, but it made dinner conversation a challenge. While the food is generally good, we agreed that nearly everything was more salty than it needed to be. It didn’t make it too salty to eat but it was definitely heavy-handed, and I’m someone who likes my food to have enough salt. With the amount of fat in most of the dishes, that much salt is not necessary.Overall, eating at Steak 48 was not an unpleasant experience. The food was decent, the portions generous, and the service excellent. However, at this price point (the bill for our party of five was ~$1300 including a very nice bottle of wine, but not the tip), I expect the food to be transcendent, and it just wasn’t, which is why I probably won’t go back soon.
