We decided to have lunch here after noticing their fantastic lunch hour prices. As advertised, the chicken teriyaki was priced at $8.95 in late 2023, which was unbeatable and there was no hidden fee. The portion size of the food was generous. The service was a bit slow, likely due to the fact that there were only two Japanese members serving. However, the quality of the food made up for any delays, so we had no complaints in the end. Highly recommended!

Great new discovery. Really tasty Japanese cuisine at a good price. Sushi was prepared in perfect sushi rice. The quality of the rice says it all. Freshest Sashimi and amazing tempura. Finished everything off with Tempura ice Cream! Got to come back again to explore the rest of the menu. The restaurant has parking (on Sunset Strip). Can’t wait and neither should you!

What can I say very good restaurant, one of the best in the area (and I was at a lot of Japanese restaurants). The food is good and the workers are very kind family. I absolutely enjoyed and I will come again.

An amazing person took me here in the early 1990s to have me try something new. 30 years later I still go here for the California rolls and Teriyaki Chicken with rice. I love the atmosphere and the owners

This place is a gem. Open for 40 years on Sunset and run by the same family. Go there for the sun-lit patio, the sake, beer and good sushi.

I’m not sure if these guys really know how to make more than a California roll. I didn’t try the nigiri or sashimi. That might have been just fine. We had the Sake Kama and the kastsu curry. Both of those were very tasty. I could have used more curry sauce, however.Oh we did end the meal with Chinese fortune cookies. What a treat.

I like this restaurant, because it feels like Japanese family-style foods when I was eating in Japan. The owners are very friendly. All appetizers are good. Sushi is fresh. Miso soup with tofu is awesome! We will come back when we are in town.

This Sushi Bar has been here forever, so they must be doing something right. Vibe leaves a bit to be desired, but its clean and comfortable. Service is a little hit or miss, but generally good. I think nights are better here all the way around, but the lunch prices are ridiculously cheap for the amount of food you get! And the food is GREAT! Definitely not a bad choice for a quick bite before a rock show!

Spontaneous sushi stop on our way out of town and I was so pleased with it. The inside doesn’t really give off sushi restaurants vibes, but it is clean and open. The sushi was so yummy! Simple, fresh and tasty. I would come back here for the rainbow roll, scallop California roll and the albacore sushi.

Excellent sushi. Usually I like my sushi with all kinds of bells and whistles but this was simple and amazing. Its difficult to make simple so delicious but they hot the nail on the head. If I lived around here Id be visiting again really soon.

I had some time ahead of a concert at Whisky a Go Go and sushi sounded good. I found the staff - who I guessed were family members - very friendly and efficient. The food was very good, and good value for the money. I had a delicious, flavorful miso soup and sashimi salad. The sashimi was fresh, clean and tasty as well. Washed down with a Japanese beer.Next time Im in the neighborhood, Id definitely go again!

Tenmasa has been owned and run by the same family since the Sunset Strip was home to the debauchery of the 80s and you can see how it has stayed open for so long! Extremely spacious interior eating areas as well as the sushi bar itself, extremely cozy and the service is next to none! The waitstaff at Tenmasa make you feel like youre dining at a close friends home, they are just so warm!The menu is vast, based in traditional Japanese-style cuisine and extremely fresh. I love their sashimi best but absolutely everything is delicious, you really cant go wrong.Come visit Tenmasa- its a must stop for anyone who needs a bite in LA.

This was our first time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered the Unagi and avocado roll which for some reason just was not pleasant to eat. My friend ordered some tempura and a miso soup. Some of the vegetables in the tempura were pretty much raw and the batter itself was overly thick and tasted of baking soda. The miso soup was very mild and tasted watery. The pickled burdock salad I got was pretty good and also the vegetable soup was not bad. For this price in this location however I most likely will not be ordering from them again.

We r neighbors, they are good ones. I worried that restaurant food might not be moving/fresh, but we were dying for japanese. Rainbow roll, salmon teriyaki - couple basics for take-out to split w asian lady ( tough audience). Greeted by the family, the senora of the operation opened each one, described it like carol merrill on the price was right. Her hands glided along the perimeter of the styrofoam saying i guarantee this $hit. THE FOOD WAS GLORIOUS! perfect in every way she sold me a big japanese beer and no lie - nirvana. Go here - its like, really japanese.

Just finished having lunch. Had their Chicken teriyaki and vegetables as well as a spicy tuna roll. I thought it was delicious, would eat there again, absolutely. Price wise, I thought it was a bit high, but everything has been here in LA so I cant fault them for that, but was it worth the price, I believe so.

We had a really, really good dinner here. Very good, high quality sushi. Everything was freshly prepared and brought to the table one after the other. We were served very friendly by the owner himself.The ambience is perhaps a bit simpler, no music etc. and there were no guests in the restaurant apart from us.Apart from the ambience, its a TOP address for sushi and other Japanese specialties.
