The only place I have had Pan Roast is in Las Vegas and it was delicious but let me tell you The Boiler is so much better. In Vegas its always a 2 to 3 hours wait time but at The Boiler you can sit at the bar or grab a table. The employees are friendly and the food makes you happy. My wife and I shared the shrimp scampi and the house pan roast. The flavors in the house pan roast was absolutely amazing! The shrimp scampi was good but too light of a dish for me. There are so many other dishes, I cant wait to try them all. If youre ever in the Chino Hills area you should definitely check this place out. And always remember Thank You For The Food!

There is simply no other place that could offer such tasty pan roast in the east area. Anything similar will be Vegas. However, at a slow Sunday night, the service is mediocre. I understand cost issues, but it is a sit-down restaurant, after all.

This place is comparable to the steam kettle place in Temple City. Despite the they were short staffed. The waitress was super attentive and kept on refilling our drinks. A+++ to her. The only thing I wish they did do is provide more rice. The rice and sauce ratio was off; I had only one ice cream scoop of rice and with plenty of sauce. As for the cioppino entrees noodle was the right portion. Overall, I would come back.

This was our second time here the last time was about four years ago. The service is still good and so is the food. I like that you get to choose your spice level. It looks a lot like the oyster bar at the Palace station in Las Vegas but no where near as good as the one in Vegas bit a good substitute if you cant make it to Vegas.

This place was delicious, nice atmosphere, and the customer service was great. Im not a fan of seafood and our server helped me decide what other options I had like chicken or sausage. My friends and I ate here and all of our dishes were good. I ordered the chicken gumbo (picture on the left) and it was delicious. The meat & vegetable portion was perfect.

Hands down the Best Pan Roast in the area. They used to have lobster in the house pan roast, but not anymore. All good, so much flavor still and loaded with other goodies (shrimp, crab, clams, scallops). Expect slow service, but the employees are working hard and understaffed. Be nice.

There was no one in the restaurant hardly and they have this rule on weekends that they cannot seat two people at a four-top but if theres nobody in the restaurant then it should be doable. I had the linguine with clams and it was not a sauce it was more of a soup and so the sauce didnt stick to the pasta. it wasnt the best, they needed to try to thicken the sauce because it runny. The sauce had broken and it was like they didnt know how to fix it or they didnt try to fix it.The fried oysters were very bland and they werent cooked long enough; they only had ranch dressing, they didnt have blue cheese for the sweet potato fries so they didnt have a lot of different condiments. The service was okay but it could have been way better seeing as there werent that many people in the restaurant. If they showed more care for their food then it would be better.

Long time patron of the Boiler. Always a solid choice. My favorite is the Lobster Bisque but I saw it is no longer on the menu. Good runner up is the House Pan Roast. Sit at the steam kettles if you want to see your yummy food get made and bask in all that yummy garlic. If you are used to spice I’d say 7 or higher, for me I barely get a burn under 7. Just visited after not coming since COVID, Hero was our server and gave some of the best customer service. Wish they had more of a beer selection. But regardless I will continue to return!

We waited 30 minutes to get our appetizer and drinks with very unprofessional server who doesnt even know what we ordered and brought us wrong drinks and wrong orders couple times. And one of the eppetizer even took longer then main dishes so we couldnt even eat that eppetizer, instead we had to pack it for to-go. And the house special pan roast is totally waste of money. The menu says it comes with variety of seafood (like shrimps, crabs, clams, scallops). But we only got two pieces of shirimps and 4-5pieces of small scallops with nothing really special tomato sauces. We cant believe this place running their business like this. We will never ever going back nor recommend this place to anyone. The worst serviced restaurant we ever been!!!

I lived in Chino Hills for thirteen years, and The Boiler was my favorite restaurant. Get the House Pan Roast and have them CRANK up the spice level. All of the food is so good there. It is one of, if not THE best restaurant in Chino Hills.The ONLY reason that this is a four star review is that the restaurant closes down between lunch and dinner, and that has affected my ability to eat there several times during the last few years. I live on the east coast now, but The Boiler is one of only a handful of restaurants in the Chino Hills/Chino area that I still miss even though I now live in walking/public transit distance of amazing dining options. I was out there earlier this summer, and I forgot they closed down between lunch and dinner and that day was a highly structured day; I ended up not being able to eat there because I forgot they close down during those hours.Thats my ONLY complaint; they close down for a few hours between lunch and dinner, and that closure has impacted my ability to eat there several times during the last seven years. It still remains some of the very best food in Chino Hills!

If you’ve never been to the Boiler, what are you waiting for! I’ve been coming here for years and they never disappoint. If you’re a fan of sea food, gumbo, jambalaya, etc, this is the place to go. Portion sizes are good, especially the dinner size portions. Give it a try if you’re in the area.

This was my first time trying steam kettle cooking and I dont really understand the process entirely but it looks pretty cool! After looking at the pics, I saw that the most popular item was the Pan Roast so decided to try that with shrimp. It was so good! They ask what spicy level you want from 1 - 10 and I found that the 7 was perfect (our waitress said that 5 is around Tabasco sauce level so you can go from there). I like that they have lunch and dinner sizes (we came here for lunch) but I still found the lunch portion to be too big. It is very creamy and filling; I highly recommend dipping some bread in it! Considering the portion sizes, I found the prices to be very reasonable.It was really empty when we came in with a group of 6 around 1:00pm on a Wednesday, no wait at all and got our food pretty quick. We ordered the Cajun Calamari to share which was super good! I really dont like calamari in general but this one was not chewy at all; super tender and flavorful. It was really thick so Im think that maybe it was octopus in there instead of squid but dont quote me on that.

So I went here about two weeks ago for a quick lunch. The food was quite tasty. I was pretty surprised given the fact that this type of food isnt nearly as popular on the west coast, but I was happy with the food. The interior was nice and it was pretty cool being able to watch them cook food in front of me.The only downfall, and the reason it has 4 stars, is because the service was pretty slow. It took a very long time to get seated and an even longer time to get food.

Hands down best cajun food you can get. The chicken gumbo was awesome, I did level 8 (not quite like a habanero pepper) spicy and it had the perfect amount of spice but still flavorful. I finished off with the red velvet cake that they have during dessert rotation and it was awesome.Everything portioned perfectly, the staff is awesome, the food is great, and the niche of steam cooking is awesome.Definitely coming back with more people

This restaurant is wonderful, if you’ve ever been to Oyster Bar in Las Vegas, this place is very similar and tastes pretty similar too. Personally I love their pan roasts, specifically the one with chicken and sausage. My wife loves their gumbo and pan roasts with seafood. What I love about places like this and Oyster Bar is that they both make their food fresh right in front of you. I think it’s just so cool watching them put the ingredients together. So if you’re looking for a great experience and want great food, this is a great place to come!

The food is very delicious and flavorful.However, Im not sure if its worth the wait.We went in and put our name on the waitlist. And was told that there were no tables, so we waited with a few other people who came before us. While waiting, 3 parties finished dining and all left simultaneously opening 3 seatings area. However only one party was seated.I knocked down another star because the owner should find more help for the staff sinxe theyre very understaffed. Which explains the wait time.

I ordered and paid over $ 180 dollars with food ranging from spicy level 0, 3, 5, 9. They all tasted the same. I ordered 2 more of level 10 just to make sure I and my kids were not dreaming. Again they all tasted the same.I brought the food back and demand an answer. The owner told me it is what it is. It is his restaurant, I dont need to come if I do t like it.Thats right. I. Not going back any more. Used to be good. Now just all tasted the same.Save your time go somewhere else.

First time having this and was impressed by how it taste! Added to my favorites list. Had the jambalaya, and presentation and flavor was just right. The wait for food to be served wasnt long. Atmosphere was really good as well in that it was was loud enough to drown out conversations from other tables but not too loud where you cant hear other people talking at your table.

You need to try their New Orleans dishes! The Etoufee is very good, and their pan roasts will make you a believer. Theres no other place like this is this area. Lots of other seafood options. Take a break from the big box chain restaurants and try something different. Their happy hour is not bad, but more on the fried side. Weekend can get busy, so best to go during the week.

This place has great food and a nice set up. You can sit up where there boiling is taking place. Quite a nice experience. However, the wait staff is very inexperienced. They do not do more than one task on a trip. Wait is very long in between service. They stand behind the bar and chat while I try to get their attention. Again the food is great. We go when it opens to lessen the wait, but it doesnt seem to help much. The wait staff is not help not because they are busy but some other unknown reason.

Southern food thats really spicy and good! I recommend getting a seat at the bar because you get to watch the chefs cook it in front of you! You pick your soup dish (I recommend the seafood ones with tomato-based soups), and your level of spiciness (on a scale of 1-10). Great atmosphere in the restaurant and friendly people! Soups are served with dipping bread and scoop of jasmine rice.

Dinner for 2 was $72 not including tip. 2 non alcoholic drinks, 1 broiled oyster appetizer (6 pieces) was very delicious but needed more time in the oven, came out just over luke warm. 2 entrees, mixed chowder was very delicious and the perfect amount of heat after adding a habanero pepper (extra cost for some reason) and Bouillabaisse regular which tasted very good but needed seasoning. I will say both were loaded with lots of seafood and the service was great, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Drinks stayed filled and got us everything we needed as we asked. 4 stars because bathroom needs some work and location is in a dead area, no vibe, and pricey for cajun food. This would be more like a 3.5 if the service wasnt so awesome. Bread service included at no cost.

Super friendly waitresses, one cook was more passionate about football than what he was preparing. Decent Cajun food (better than any other Cajun around Chino Hills). A couple of fruit flies flittering about. The blue point oysters were delicious. The jambalaya was average. The fishermans stew (Manhattan style) was average. We will return to try a couple of other dishes, but if the food doesnt wow is next time, we will not return. Stay tuned!

Finally got to try this place out, since knowing about it for some time. Place is nice and clean and took the advice of others and came in early. The calamari and crab cakes was great to start things off . Was able to try the Cioppino, Fishermans Chowder and the House Pan Roast .All was very delicious but the spice level of the Cioppino and House pan roast were both different . We had request for the same spice level and the Cioppino was spicier than the roast. Not to sure what happened, but next time Ill ask if the Chioppino is naturally make with a little extra kick to it .The pan roast was good especially with extra sausage in it .The Fishermans chowder is one of the best chowders I have had . It is now hard to have just a regular clam chowder, after having a great mixture of some delicious seafood .Not sure if they did not have enough staff, but it seemed like they were lacking a tad. Im glad the people I was with arent the type who would get easily mad. Since it took a couple of times to get the attention of servers . For extra napkins, refills, extra plates and all.Overall I cant wait to come back, I just hope this time their air conditioning will be working . Or maybe Ill just come in on a cooler day .

After so many times I went to eat at The Boiler, this last time I an my family were very disappointed.The food was cold, they didnt put rice at the dish we always order, but they they were going to make some extra rice and they were going to brig it in a while, which happened really in a while, but I really think they collected the left over rice and thats what they gave us.The waitress were nice, so I had to tip them, but the rest was very disappointed.

I gave this place a second try. First try I went with a family of 5 and sat in the waiting area for 1 hour and nobody even asked me if I wanted a table....years pass and I thought I would give it a try again.Went in, food was decent but it isnt even made in front of you. The whole point of the steam cooking is they cook the food in front of you. All they are doing is using the steam as a microwave and reheating the food they already prepared. What a waste of time. Plus the prices for lunch are $15+ and dinner are $20+ without any appetizers or drinks. Theres no excuses for not cooking because we were the only 3 people in the entire restaurant.They are a cheap knock off of the place in vegas that does this from scratch. Yes it takes long but its worth it. Never going back again.

In fact he told me this was his number one date place- so make sure to give me some points for hooking yall up with this info!Cajun food cooked right in front of you with your choice of how much heat you wanted. We arrived around 8:30, and the kitchen closes at 8:30!So we were literally the only one there...It was okay though because it seemed as though my friend closed down the restaurant just for the 3 of us- another extra touch for you boys out there trying to romance your ladies!Regardless the food was exceptional for Seafood lovers, this is a place that put a cajun twist on your yummies. I promised from the look of my girlfriends eyes..she was in love!I liked that they were able to make me a veggie gumbo for me..which was essentially pasta with marinara sauce and some veggies but it was still pretty good.in the end we walked out of there happy and full!

Hadnt been somewhere like this before - really good Cajun food. You get to choose from your dressing and your meet type. They make it right in front of you. Everyone gets their own boiler where the cook just boils your food right before your eyes. It might take some time though so make sure youre here to relax and not rush out.

This place is mighty tasty! Not Oyster Bar at Palace Station amazing but, this is the closest Im going to get lol.What We Ordered- Jambalaya- House Pan RoastThe Jambalaya was very flavorful! We opted for level 7 spiciness for both dishes and could have easily made it a 10. It was not spicy at all! We needed to substitute out the crab in the House Pan Roast because my friend is allergic. You can only substitute things out for chicken or sausage, not other seafood. The dishes looked small but, we left pretty satisfied. However, it might just be from all the bread we ate with the House Pan Roast haha. I definitely like The Boiler more than Ritters in the OC. Their House Pan Roast is more on the tomatoey side. I will be back!

I was just there tonight to pickup a togo order. I ordered the gumbo and also ordered an extra of the broth on the side for $4.00. When I got there, I asked where was my side order of broth? They told me that they they already added it to the regular container. I said I expected that when you charge me extra for a side of the broth, that that I should get an extra container of the broth.So I spoke with the manager/cook, Dave Gomez, about the problem and he insisted that he was standing on his ground that it’s already in the main container, and so I told him I’m not paying the extra $4.00 if he doesn’t give me the extra container of broth. Long story short, he literally took some of the juice from my order because as he said he was standing his ground coz I told him I’m not paying the extra $4.00.I am really shocked as to how this whole situation turned out. On top of that, you acted angry at me. I even asked the server why you were acting mad at me. She agreed with me that you were mad. This is bad customer service Dave Gomez. If you’re the owner, that makes it even worst. For $4.00. Wow!Also, I saw you put back the broth that you took out from my container back into the big pot of pre made broth.

This review is purely for the rude employee named Lyric. Shes rude, condescending, incompetent, and clearly doesnt know what shes doing. She doesnt know how to take an order or how to help a customer. She has about zero customer service skills. She seems like a rude & entitled little girl who wasnt taught any manners growing up. Refused to seat us. They had a table for 4 people and a table for 2 people open. They had chairs available. Our party of 5 asked if they could just add one more chair to the table of 4, they said no. Our party asked if they can just put the 2 person and 4 person tables together, they said no. We asked if they just didnt want us to eat therr, the hostess said that we can eat at the bar table. The bar table was very full and did not even have 3 chairs open next to eachother. After looking at eachother in disbelief, we left. Not sure if it was because we happened to be middle eastern men. Ended up going to Lucilles BBQ across the parking lot, it was delicous! Will not be coming back here.

The Boiler is located in a very large shopping strip mall at the Commons at Chino Hills near the Souplantation. The environment was casual with a few big TVs on the walls playing sporting events. The cooking in the steam kettles is done within a U-shaped bar that occupies the majority of the restaurant. Its a good experience to sit at the bar to watch your food cook and interact with the chef. At about 8 PM on a weeknight, The Boiler was about one-third full. Service was average and could have been more attentive. Huge parking lot in a big strip mall with plenty of parking spaces. Safe neighborhood.House Pan Roast (~$20):The pan roast was pleasingly rich with cream and butter but modestly flavorful. You get to choose the spice level on the pan roast. The pan roast had an intense richness that made it perfect to slop up with bread or the rice. Its a hearty meal thats perfect with a beer. Although the seafood could have been more generous, the rich stew, bread, and rice is plenty of food to fill-up a hungry appetite.Bread (Free):The bread was basic and meh. The crust was a light-brown, not really crusty, and somewhat rubbery. The crumb was dull, tight, and had minimal air pockets. The bread tasted like mass-produced bread. It was also served with small individualized Land OLakes butter packs. lolz.
