This place is amazing! 20/10 stars. We came here tonight and we got there 5 mins before close on accident. We aren’t from here and didn’t realize it closed at 8. They were SO kind and the food is literally incredible. The fact that they have such a high quality menu in more of a fast casual environment blows my mind. The attention to detail in this menu is ***chefs kiss*** Don’t walk. Run. Extremely impressed. Go you won’t regret it.

We stopped to dine in but it took so long to get our food we had to get it to go which also took a great deal of time. They were in no kind of hurry. Menu looked awesome, we were the only people there so the problem with service getting our orders was really a bummer. I would not go back because of this. We had an appointment to get to and no reason food should take that long to prepare. The fish and chips was not great. The poke and Moroccan califlower was good.

Great food, great experience. It was hard to decide what to choose. I spent a few minutes scoping out the meals of the other diners and was completely torn between shrimp tacos, fish and chips, and the ahi poke bowl. I finally chose the poke bowl and it was one of the best Ive ever had. Fish was fresh and high quality. Pretty sure the greens were local Babe Farms. The very generous bowl included edamame, seaweed, avocado, cucumber, radish and crispy, non- greasy wonton strips. The dressing was a miracle. Not too salty and with the perfect kiss of wasabi. Seriously, the chef needs to bottle and sell that dressing so I can have it all the time. I could have drunk it with a straw. The chef/owner came out to see if everything was alright and spent some time chatting with us. This is my new favorite Santa Maria dining spot. The hard thing is going to be deciding if I just want the amazing poke bowl everytime or if I want to try the fish and chips or shrimp tacos, which all looked equally delicious. Chef, if you read this, the only suggestion I have is that the music was too loud to allow for conversation. Cant wait to go back.

Great new restaurant with a wonderful menu and large portions! Owner Mike is very nice and made us feel welcome! Had the local burger with linguica and homemade chips with herb ranch. My best friend had the deviled eggs side and a salad. Food was awesome and will be back to try the rest!UPDATE 9/18/21- Just tried their Grilled Chicken sandwich wth mozzarella cheese on focaccia bread and it was amazing!

Chef Mike is a delight.We recommend the Moroccan cauliflower (delicious and not spicy), Brigade burger (Add avocado), fish & chips, and dont forget the Steak Frites! Definitely one of the hottest, must try restaurants in the Santa Maria Valley.Hands down.Were talking about a real chef, with real standards, with quality ingredients, with really good food.After we ordered, Chef Mike introduced himself and offered us a taste of tomorrows menu: deviled eggs with a bit of chorizo. Delish.We got there before an hour of closing and we didnt mind waiting for our food because the kitchen worked as a team and the people ahead of us were being served accordingly. If you cant wait for good food made without a microwave, maybe you need to slow down. It is a smaller kitchen and they will only get better.We ordered from the Chefs Master Plate: Grilled Salmon and the Grilled Maple Texas Pork Chop.Wow! You can tell when you have a trained chef in charge. The salmon and the pork chop were tender, juicy, and flavorful.The quality of the ingredients and the cuisine for the price is a deal. You would need to drive an hour or more to get this expertise on display.Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the friendly service!Cant wait to try the whole menu and bring friends! This place was so awesome!! What took it over the top was the customer service!! The owner came by to check on everyone and how the food was, the younger guy at the register was so polite as well. I don’t know if they have 2 owners but another guy with a beard came out to check on me too and helped me get some cutlery for my to go order. The atmosphere was rad and the food was amazing. I see why this place has almost 5 stars! JOB WELL DONE to all at the Salty Brigade!!! Great customer service is sooo hard to come by nowadays so keep it up!! 🙌🏼*They gave a military discount too so thank you for supporting the military*

Absolutely delicious! I rarely leave comments on google but for this place I must. The Spicy Fuego burger was amazing and the fries were too. Definitely going back again some other time. Highly, highly recommend if you’re looking for a great tasting burger and fries.

This is the fourth time we have stopped in for lunch and we have always enjoyed ourselves. The menu is wide and deep with something for everyone including a lot of different beers on tap.The restaurant is clean and well lit, you can eat inside or out. Service and the food has not disappointed us yet and have had a few things that were very good. I would eat here again.

Honestly, very dissatisfied order 8oz stake no favor on it mashed potatoes where boxed potatoes 3 pieces of asparagus for $32 took them 45min. Made the right choice to post review, especially with the response I received from Chef Mike very unprofessional. This was the second time here. Both times I had a hard time deciding what to get. It all looked wonderful.The first time I had the Ahi tacos and I just had their Poke bowl. This food was fantastic and I cant wait to go back! I went with my wife and two kids and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I had the grilled citrus Mahi Mahi sandwich and it was perfect and refreshing after a trip to the beach today. My wife got the brigade burger and she thought it was delicious. Both the burger and Mahi Mahi sandwich were so filling and we enjoyed every bite. My two boys shared the kids Mac & cheese, and my 4 year old said he loved it! I can easily say its the best Mac & cheese Ive ever had. We had the house potato chips with a side of ranch dip, and those were also very tasty. The soda machine even has some natural ingredient soda options: root beer, black cherry, and cream soda.The restaurant staff was welcoming and very nice. We had an opportunity to speak with the chef and owner, and you can just see how much he cares about the quality of his food and the customers experience. He recommended the Mahi Mahi sandwich, and Im so thankful I followed his advice because it was the perfect choice.The music was also a great choice, almost as if picking music from my own personal playlists: led zeppelin, red hot chili peppers, Coldplay, modest mouse, etc.My wife and I were still at the restaurant when we started planning out the next time we will visit and what we will try next. I fully recommend coming to this restaurant for its amazing food and wonderful hospitality!

This place is amazing! Fancy sit down restaurant quality food in a Firestone type setting. Everything on the menu is fabulous, so delicious and fresh and unique! Pricing is great given that Id expect to be served food of this caliber at a high end restaurant spending hundreds of dollars, and its instead offered at totally reasonable prices. Id eat there everyday if I could!

Great little scratch kitchen spot. If you’re looking for some of the best pub style food in town this is where it’s at. Our family enjoyed an outdoor brunch on Mother’s Day with Kitchen Brigade. We each were greeted with a flower and a smile on heated outdoor patio. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Every Sunday has a nice brunch and mimosa menu, I hear there is live music on Friday or Saturdays. It was nice that both owners came out to greet us and see about our meal experience. I am very supportive of smaller new businesses. The food was good and we had a very enjoyable experience. Definitely will be visiting this establishment again.

Love this place! This is really the best place in Santa Maria. Really good food, all tastes housemade, and the owner/chef came out to see how everyones food is. We are from San Diego, and to our surprise, so was the owner, which totally explained why the restaurant vibe had us feeling right at home. This place is a total gem, and we will be back often. My husband got steak frites, and I got a portobello mushroom sandwich that hit just right. This is food that makes you feel good, instead of the heavy, processed glorified fast food so many restaurants around here serve.

Ordered the fish n chips. Waited waaaay too long for my food to arrive. Seating area was maybe half-full when I arrived. Fish was overcooked. The smaller of two pieces hardly had any fish inside, most of it cooked away leaving a batter shell. The batter was flavorful and the shoestring fries were good. Was never once followed up with after placing my order. The owner/manager (? guy with glasses) checked on every table around me multiple times. I must have been invisible....Thankfully, there are other places to eat in Santa Maria and Orcutt.

I was so hangry and we were having trouble finding somewhere to eat and we saw all the great reviews on this place so we went in and OMG! Food was phenomenal. We each got the All American, fries (best fries ever by the way ) and house made chips . So good! The drinks area had this really interesting yummy cherry coke and when has cream soda and root beer. I give them one of my highest praise for food selection options/quality/price.2022 - Certainly a must-go-to place in Santa Maria. This is the real deal. Probably this is, currently, the most cutting-edge restaurant in Santa Maria. You can only wish you had Chef Mikes resume. Yeah its in a strip mall, but a nice new one. Finally! Fish and chips are back in Santa Maria! Chef Mike does a great job of sourcing fresh rock fish from Morro Bay and serving it in a light batter. The price is on par with other fish and chip places, but you don’t have to travel to Lompoc or A.G. The dish came with shoestring fries, cocktail sauce, Thousand Island dressing and malted vinegar. Good sized fillets! They have a lot of burger variations as well as fish or shrimp tacos. Will have to try out the rest of the menu. The restaurant is spacious, clean and welcoming.

No thanks. Burger was so salty I nearly gagged, it was like a mouthful of ocean but worse because it was table salt. Wine had obviously been in open bottles too long, tasted like pure vinegar (2 different kinds). When we politely let a server know, she said ok, Ill look into it. Our meal was already paid, no apology or offer of a new glass of wine/burger or refund for a truly awful meal. Salty burger and vinegar wine aside, the general ingredients were nothing to write home about. Get a better burger at Wendys. Wanted to try some local, wasted $60.

We have been wanting to try this place and finally made it! We were just before the rush so that was great! The one major downside was that three things we tried to order were not available. The chips were fantastic as an appetizer. The chicken tacos are super crunchy and the chicken was tasty but I couldnt taste the pico and would have liked a little something spicy. I had the SD hot dog and it was very good but I did add a little ketchup. My very picky bf said the pork chop was the best he ever had and I agree that it was very tender and delicious. Definitely give it a try!

Ordered the Shroom Burger (+pickles, well done) with potato chips, and a chocolate milkshake. The burger was sized well and properly cooked to order, not too large to handle and bite into after I tamped down the brioche bun. I poured some of the garlic aioli in the burger as well. The pickles that I asked be added were a strong sour flavored bread and butter, but in the burger made for a great combination. (Ive since learned they have a bread and butter and a spicy pickle, which is mild) The arugula is a nice choice as it is in small leafs, so they remain evenly spread and do not pull out with successive bites. The house made chips were consistently salty and crisp, and lightly browned. The milkshake came topped with whip cream and a larger straw, and on the sweeter side of shakes Ive had, but no complaints there, and it looked like a 16oz.

Not only is the menu full of delicious choices, the owner and staff go above and beyond to assure you are enjoying your meal and their preparation. The homemade chips, fries, ahi salads, burgers, artichoke tacos are excellent. As an add on, the next day I realized I lost my sunglasses and called the places I had been the day before. The Salty Brigade searched, called staff who had served us and were at home. They called me twice to let me know what they were doing and regretfully they didnt find them. Thank you Salty Brigade for your superb food and amazing owners and staff.

So, lets start with the positives. It is a nice chic restaurant, I really enjoyed the industrial urban decor and atmosphere. In particular the witty bathroom sign reminding people that, regardless of who you are, it is of utmost importance to keep proper personal hygiene. Especially during this pandemic. That being said, the food was not all I expected it to be. Especially for the price.While the presentation was great and made the food rather appetizing. However, the food wasnt as tasty as it should have been. Especially for the price. We had the Local Burger with fries and the Grilled Herb Chicken Focaccia with house made potato chips. The chicken focaccia was good; however, the chicken meat barely filled half of the sandwich bread and the so called secret spread it was simply mayonnaise. The burger was even worse. The patty was undercooked (we ordered medium and we barely got it medium rare), thus the bun became so soggy, it was falling apart even before the first bite.I do gotta say that the french fries and the house made potato chips were rather good. Even though the sides and the chicken sandwich were good, they were not worth the price of the meal. $16 for the burger plus $4 for avocado and $14 for the chicken sandwich.This was our first visit and I am not going to dismiss this restaurant after just one visit; we will go back and give it another try. However, the food is not something that has me excited to go back any time soon.

A friend and I had an enjoyable lunch there. He went the extra mile to go get her some chopsticks for her meal and even offered to make up a side of kimchi for me to take home! It was delicious! Took the family for dinner yesterday, our first visit. It was not what we expected. Very casual appearance, clean, with a friendly staff. Had the tomahawk pork chop which was absolutely delicious! Its served over mac & cheese but I asked for a salad instead. Got a large refreshing caesar salad instead of mac & cheese. My son had the chop over mac & cheese and he liked it. My wife had the salmon and it was also perfectly prepared. Presentation on all the plates was perfect! Chef Mike knows how to make delicious food!The restaurant has a take out atmosphere vice a full service restaurant. As senior citizens, wed like to sit in a nice comfy booth to enjoy our meal verses siting on ordinary wood chairs. We got our own drinks and had our meal brought to us by the cashier. Since you pay up front, its hard to guage how much to tip because youve received no service yet so to speak. I gave 20% because of how friendly the staff was when we walked in. Customer service is a must for us and Chef Mike and his team provide it, a friendly setting to relax and dine in.Chef Mike came out twice to check on us which was very much appreciated! His food is delicious and came out fast considering the crowd he had, mostly take outs at the time of our visit. I know hes only been open for a very short time but I hope to see him expand into a full service restaurant in the future. Traveling through to Hearst Castle and we had the great fortune to run across this small restaurant/grill. I had the amazing Chicken Focaccia sandwich while my girlfriend had the Beet Salad with Tri-tip and my sister shared a Shroom Hamburger with a Beet Salad with her husband. Delicious all!!! Went to have some fish and chips, and went ahead and ordered a fish sandwich as well.I shouldve asked for my money back when I saw the guy at the register go to the back and help the cooks but failed to wash his hands.At one point him and the other 2 cooks were waiting for something to cook, they were just on there phones, which I wouldnt mind. We went to the Salty Brigade last night for the first time since they opened about 2 weeks ago. Food is ordered at the walk up counter and the menus are posted on what looks like rolls of butcher paper on the wall behind the counter, suggesting a changing menu. We ordered salad topped with hanger steak and a mahi mahi sandwich. The menu is basically burgers, sandwiches and salads with no dinner style entrees.First the good news. They do a great job on the proteins! The hanger steak was well seasoned with a good sear and cooked medium rare as it should. This could (should?) be an entree item. The mahi mahi was also very well cooked and very tasty.Now the bad. The salad was a huge mound of limp, soggy greens that I found very unappetizing. The mahi mahi sandwich also suffered from an over abundance of greens and an overly large slice of tomato. These somewhat smothered the great mahi mahi.Overall the meals could be better, the menu more diverse and the presentation more professional given the $17 and $18 prices. We will go back in a couple of weeks to see if Chef Mike has found his footing a little more.Update: It took us a while to make it back to the Salty Brigade but we went again last night and I am so glad we did! There is a new outdoor dining patio that is really nice AND they now serve local beers.The service has improved and the staff are super nice and Chef Mike makes the rounds to make sure your meal meets your expectations. This time around they did. I ordered the salmon over lobster ravioli. The salmon was cooked well (I prefer mine a little more rare and will ask for it that way next time) and I think most folks would be very pleased. The ravioli was excellent! Also the plating was more professional than our last visit.I can honestly say that the Salty Brigade now ranks as another one of the better dining experiences in Orcutt and I am glad to have them here. In world full of mediocre chain restaurants Orcutt has become a hub for unique restaurants that serve that serve specialty fare and the Salty Brigade joins that group.If I could I would rate them 4.25.

Dog food. The worst part is they are uppity about it. Waste of a trip, save your time. Also its staffed by teenagers and the chef is on an ego trip he hires little girls he likes to stare at. They have no accountability and basically the only answer they had to anything I said was brofurthermore, the chef is a dishonest goofball who has taken considerable time trying to discredit me instead of address the reality of the situation.Dog food reviewed by your friends is still dog food. Waited in line for 20 minutes on a Sunday, finally our turn to order and as she takes our order the phone rings she answers the phone and starts to take a to go order another 10 minutes transpires and she looks at us and says “it’s our chef’s phone order.” I said I don’t care can you please take our order now? She had the nerve to get defensive for the poor customer service provide by her. Not worth the time the poor customer service and the food.

The Salty Brigade has fantastic food in an area that suffers from adversity in choice of what you’d like to eat. The master chef is an undisputed talent in his craft. I liked that the menu changes and you can walk into something new and different when you least expect it. You can sit and eat in a modern open-aired experience, or take your food to go!
