We know that Santa Maria is the birthplace of Tri-Tip so we wanted to try their tri-tip sandwich and it was delicious!!We got it to go and they gave us BBQ sauce to dip it in and it was an amazing combo!! The meat was tender enough and tasted so good mixed with the BBQ sauce. The bread was toasted perfectly and very buttery :0)Would come back here! They also had cute decor and a clean bathroom.

My wife and I bought 2 sandwiches and we loved it. Seems like any sandwich you get is going to be good. They are also a meat market so give them at look see.We just went and bought a sample platter of meats. We are having the kids over for taste test. Such a great place. The owner has such great knowledge of the meats. If you dont know something just go ask, he can tell you best ways to cook these awesome cuts of meat. Not your grocery store tri tip, these are special cuts that dont need to be doctored up. Go in and get educated on different styles and cuts. Thank you, fun time at Woodys Butcher Shop.

This past weekend I went to try Woodys food, Tri Tip sandwich is off the hook!! Got to meet the man himself he sat at the table we had a very nice talk about BBQ and his process .... Great Great shop and the staff takes a page right from Woody!! I like it so much I came back the next day for some meats, pickles, sauces and Jerky... The Jerky is honestly the best I have ever had hands down! Thanks your making us feel so welcome!!! Highly Recommend if you driving through or staying in Santa Maria stop in and enjoy.

We were craving a good, quick bbq sandwich and we’re not disappointed! Good quality meats with amazing flavor. Next time will buy some meat from the butcher to bbq at home - quality looked top notch! Friendly service topped it off! To be clear, it’s a butcher/deli with sandwiches and a few tables if you choose to eat there.

Butcher was wonderful and informative however my NewYork New York was the saddest sandwich ever! Saw the post of the picture and was terribly disappointed to find it dry and missing 3/4 of the pastrami. Sad to say I won’t be going back!

Stopped in for lunch while on a road trip. Ordered the tri tip and turkey sandwich both of which were excellent! Also walked out with some beef jerky and seasoning. The staff was very friendly, totally worth the stop if you are venturing through Santa Maria!

Good food and warm people that work here. The Shop had clean aesthetics with red hardwood floor and a big rug in the center. When I ordered, my Roast Turkey and Jack Sandwich the young man with vilitigo told me that sandwich works best with our sourdough. He was spot on. Would recommend.Overall great sandwich place - M.taño

3/13/2022Just finished my first visit to Woodys. My dismay began by viewing the staff. None could be over 20. I figured Sunday, Owner needs a day off . Give the kids something to do. I placed my order: 1/2 lb of Pastrami slice thin.The order went to a young girl in the back. Got my order to ring up. A little over 8.0 of a lb. I questioned the difference. The boy said thats the way we package it. Pre -packaged? Why did I go to a butcher shop for pre-package. Sliced thin? All our meat is sliced thin he says. Nay, NayWhen I ask for slice thin I expect to be so. Girls had real long hair. How did I know? They had no head covering which I thought would be some sort of violation. The Boy wore a hat.I will come again in the near future but during the week. Hopefully it will be different. Mike

That was the most expensive sandwich of my life...but Im also pretty sure it was the best sandwich Ive ever had. I had a turkey and jack on a french roll with chipotle mayo instead of pesto, they were out of sourdough, but it was still amazing.The staff was friendly and quick getting the food out despite having multiple orders at once.Ill definitely be going back.

Just had the Santa Maria sausage. So many layers of flavor are released as you’re eating. I never had anything like them. Next time I’m in Santa Maria, I will buy more. It’s the star of my barbecue this afternoon.

In Santa Maria in the midst of a 2,500mi Motorcycle ride through the Eastern Sierra and Central California. Rented a nice Air BNB with a kitchen fit for a king. Stopped by the local VON’s and was severely disappointed by their selection of meats. Noticed Woody’s Butcher shop across the street and glad we stopped by. Picked up the nicest Delmonico Pork Chip I’ve ever seen. Great tips from the young staff as to how to best prepare it. Service and selection was just outstanding. Will head there for a sandwich tomorrow on the way out of town. Thanks guys! The it’s the little things make the trip memorable!

Woodys is the best! My boyfriend and I go almost every Saturday and we have never ever not loved something. Best fish and meat in town! Their salsa and sausages are a hit too :) Such friendly, talkative, and helpful staff as well. Highly recommend!

They do the restaurants All You Can Eat deal. The presentation is really nice. I usually get the Bama roll! You get a lot of extras with your meal if you dont do all you can eat. Miso soup, salad and even a fried banana dessert. I havent tried yet because toooooo full!

I wanted to go to another bbq place but they were closed. Found this place on Yelp so came to give it a try. It is a small butcher shop bit they do have a handful of menu items. I got the tri-tip sandwich. It was very good in my opinion. The meat and bread were soft. They didnt put any sauce but I bought some from their store.

Went to Woodys on Sept 14th 2019. I was looking to purchase beef ribs. There were 2 packages inside the case. Thats 4 slabs. Anyhow, I paid approximately $90 for the 4 slabs. I asked the man if he had anymore in the back cause they didnt have good color. He changed subject and put both packages on counter. I bought 2 other items. One was for $9.99 & one for $6.95. My total was over $130.00! I took ribs home and put in fridge for bbq on Sunday the 15th! The very next day after purchase! When I took them out to prep for bbq, I saw the sell by date was the 14th- the date of purchase! When I opened packages- I knew immediately that they were bad! Two slabs even looked a bit green! i rinsed & seasoned! After cooking & cooling, I gave both my dogs a rib. I ate one. Family wanted to wait til later to eat! Both dogs have been vomiting, diarrhea, & heeving since about 45 min after eating ribs! I did not get sick but am afraid to eat anymore! I was afraid to allow my family to eat this meat! Furthermore, I felt like a fool for not checking dates b4 leaving store! Worst $100 Ive ever spent! I will never return or recommend Woodys Butcher Block to Anyone! 24 hours later and dogs are still vomiting! C.Bailey

Ive been going hear for a while, four years Id say. My favorite cut there that Josh introduced me to, would be the Hanging Tender also known as Hanger steak. Funny name I know,sounds like something I would have after a hard weekend back in the day. LOL, well I have served this at Thanksgiving and Christmas for the family. Its a huge hit every year.

This is the best, without a doubt, but butcher shop in the Tri Counties. The meat is fabulous and the owner, Tim, is great. Highly recommend, without reservations. Their sandos are great for lunch, too

Went in there twice in a row and could not get a tri tip sandwich. One time because they ran out of bread. Other time there is “no tri-tip” . Also the owner is rude.
