Sushi KATSU-YA Encino
16542 Ventura Blvd #100, Encino, CA 91436, United States
This is the Los Angeles area’s best Japanese restaurant for top notch traditional sushi and creative dishes at a very fair price. Nobu is way glitzier, but no better. Sushi Zo is the quintessential omakase for the sushi connoisseur at $200 per person and Urusawa is the fussiest sushi feast on the West Coast at $550 per person. But Katsu-ya in Encino is my go-to option for super-quality at a sensible price.

Sola Japanese Izakaya Dining
15928 Ventura Blvd #120, Encino, CA 91436, United States
Love this little izakaya. A nice hole in a wall in middle of Encino. They serve up delicious food and we love the owner. She always makes all her guests feel welcome and shes really good at remembering her guests. Cant go wrong especially if you like izakaya style food. On top of that, theyre one of the only Japanese restaurants in the valley that stays open late!

Kopan Sushi & Ramen
17547 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
KOPAN SUSHI & RAMEN is an intimate, izakaya* eatery thats part of a twelve restaurant, southern California chain. Named Kopan to honor the flavorful meals of KObe JaPAN.The restaurant contains an enclosed patio, sushi bar seating, and intimate booths.Kopan does not accept reservations. You may request seating on their website or on the computer tablet located at the eaterys entrance. We requested seating on the Internet from home, and were seated about 30 minutes later. (Home is 15 minutes away.)The app reported there were four groups ahead of us. You are notified on your cellphone when a table is available and must be at the restaurant when called. The colorful menu contains beautiful thumbnails of artistically created sushi. Our server, Jose, made helpful suggestions. Kopans chefs elegantly re-create the thumbnails.I ordered the Vegan Ramen Bowl. The large, delicious stew is a mix of lightly cooked vegetables (cabbage, red cabbage, broccoli, mushrooms, spinach, cherry tomatoes, corn, bean sprouts, seaweed, Ramen noodles, and tofu, served in a rich, slow cooked vegetable broth. Offered at three levels of spice, I choose the mild flavor. It was warm, flavorful, and lightly spicy. My wife ordered the Bento Box: miso soup, teriyaki chicken, brown rice, garden salad, and her choice of a sushi roll. She choose an avocado roll and found the combination delicious. (She shared a couple of pieces of the vegan roll with me. It was really good.)Kopans unique, aesthetically pleasing eatery provides a comfortable environment in which to enjoy their excellent sushi, ramen, and caring service. (Yeah, we liked it.)A Word Of Caution:In the evening, park in the free ADA compatible lot directly behind the building. Reached by driving down the entrance ramp into the lower garage, stay straight, turn right at the wall, and make a quick left turn into the narrow up ramp to the ground level lot. The path to the restaurants entrance is ADA compatible. Exit by reversing.STUFF: We came for dinner and parked in the ADA compatible garage, located under the restaurant. Leaving, I discovered the elevator was turned off and could not find a staircase. The ramp into the garage was too steep to walk. I returned to the restaurant to ask for help and was first told there was nothing they could do. A few minutes later the restaurant manager, Joshua, saved the day by offering to drive my car to street level.* The Japanese word izakaya (居酒屋) is made up of three kanji with the meaning, “stay-drink-place.” A spot to grab a drink, settle in, and get comfortable. Okumura Restaurant

A small, comfortable upscale Japanese restaurant that offers excellent foods and warm, carring service. Both sushi bar and table service are available.Im a vegan and sometimes a sushi purest give me a bit of a hard time. Not here. The servers are friendly and provided vegan and gluten free information.I ordered a veggie roll and Agedashi Tofu, fried tofu cubes in a light broth. I found both to be very good. The sushi chefs are artists. Their serving are large, delicious and simply elegant. The rest of the party ordered sushi, that was beautifully made and Im told, delicious. Their serving were also generous.Free wheelchair accessible parking at the rear of the restaurant. Okumura is ADA compliant including the bathrooms.

Starlight Sushi
15928 Ventura Blvd # 123, Encino, CA 91436, United States
Look no further, tons of sushi restaurants on this block, stop here! My brother and I were driving around the valley looking for sushi spot at 8 pm on Friday evening and other spots were long wait or closing by 9 pm. Saw not much reviews on this place so was stoked to see what this spot is about.Well my brother and I were so glad we did! One of the best spots weve had, and Ive had sushi in motherland. When it comes to Los Angeles standard this place is the benchmark. The sushi and rolls here are not saturated with rice, its a perfect balance of fish with rice. Also their rice is delicious!Tried lots of items but you cant go wrong with anything here it seems. We ordered Toro, and baked salmon roll with eel and avocado and edamame with baked scallops. The service here is wonderful too! The owners are here jump starting the place and theyre lively and very sweet. The green tea is great too, the owner tries and drinks a lot of tea on her own time so she selects the stuff that she would drink herself. Make sure you try the mochi! Definitely coming back for other specials.

Benihana
16226 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91436, United States
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Benihana, a renowned Japanese restaurant that offers a unique teppanyaki dining experience. The highlight of my evening at Benihana was undoubtedly the exquisite culinary journey that unfolded before me. The skilled chef Juanito dazzled us with his impressive knife skills and theatrical cooking techniques, creating mouthwatering dishes that were as delightful to watch being prepared as they were to savor. Each bite was a burst of flavor, showcasing the freshness and quality of the ingredients used. While the food at Benihana undoubtedly stole the show, I must mention that the service was a bit lacking in one aspect. Our server, while efficient and attentive in delivering our orders and ensuring our dining experience ran smoothly, seemed a little distant and not as friendly or welcoming as one might hope. A warm smile or a friendly greeting would have certainly enhanced the overall experience.Nonetheless, the minor hiccup in the service did little to diminish the overall charm of Benihana. The restaurants vibrant atmosphere, delectable cuisine, and unique dining concept make it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to indulge in a memorable culinary adventure. In conclusion, Benihana is a gem of a restaurant that excels in delivering an unforgettable dining experience that tantalizes the senses. Whether youre a food enthusiast or simply looking for a fun and entertaining meal with friends and family, Benihana is sure to leave you with lasting memories and a craving to return for more.

Zeppin Sushi LLC
16733 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91436, United States
Update: decided to give this place another try. The service was amazing. The $29.99 AYCE menu was absolute trash. Any decent sushi or rolls are now extra. For all you can eat all you get is basically large chunks of rice and crab immitation. A tinsy piece of salmon or tuna on top. If you are here for fish, go somewhere else.Had great expectations for this place, sadly every minute turned to be an epic fail without possibility of redemption. Our server had no idea about the sushi off of the menu. Stating that she hates sushi and cant tell us about it.Our bus boy was standing over our table as he was too busy watching the basketball game on television hanging next to our table. Though getting his attention was nearly impossible. We opted for an all you can eat option. Our orders were coming out extremely slowly with down times for nearly 10 minutes between entrees. Each next order came with a larger chunk of rice and smaller piece of fish. We had to ask over and over for things that we ordered on round 1 while round 3 was already painstakingly slowly coming in. Last set of sushi was served on warm mushy rice.By the time we asked for our check some stuff still did not come in. Our server simply failed to even enter some of the things into the system. The fish is very fresh and high quality. The sweet shrimp are simply amazing. The execution and service need major improvements.

Shin Sushi
16573 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91436, United States
This restaurant completely deviates from the Japanese service spirit and the spirit of omakase course sushi, and it is possible that unimaginably terrible things could happen, such as ignoring, disrespecting, and even insulting the customers. There is a good chance that the restaurant will not only be responsible for the food, but also the experience and even the customers personality. If you want to experience an authentic sushi omakase course and Japanese culture, please stop by.
