The appetizers in the photo were good, but the main food was really bad. I got the chicken katsu curry hoping it would be a rich and unique curry. But there was barely any curry and the tiny amount of curry somehow got soaked into the katsu so every piece was soggy. The flavour was very uninspired and tasted like the cubes you can buy at the grocery store and the veggies and rice had no flavour to save them. For $20, it was pretty disappointing. It’s a shame because the owner was super friendly at farmers market and made some really good shishito peppers. I feel like the quality at the restaurant when i went didn’t reflect his standards.

This place is the worst. I would never come here again. The fish did not look fresh and the noodles in the udon were soggy. Avocado in the sushi roll was brown. I am hoping i dont get food poisoning. What a waste of $50. I hope they step up their game so they can make it downtown.

Ordered the ocean salad (seaweed) and chicken teriyaki bowl. The portions were huge! The salad was tasty and refreshing on a hot day and the teriyaki bowl was very tasty. The restaurant is self serve which is nice, and we had the option to order up front or with a QR code. The woman helping us was very attentive and friendly. I would come here again the next time I am in the area.

Came with a friend we both got poke bowls and shared a Gyoza. The fish on the poke bowl was very fishy and the bowls were not wide enough to get a good bit of rice and topping at once. The Gyoza was over fried. We both came in looking for ramen but were put off by the pictures on the menu. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly but that was the only upside unfortunately.

Oh my gosh this is my favorite restaurant in slo by far! i am a regular that comes in at least once a week and the service is absolutely amazing, everyone is so nice. the man that owns this business is just too kind and even gave me and my boyfriend a free roll just for supporting the business. the quality of their sushi is astounding, definitely the best sushi ive had in my hometown :) i will always come back to this place as it is now my comfort restaurant

What a pleasant surprise, great food at a reasonable price with great employees. Thank m so glad I stopped here. They also serve liquid gravity IPA, a local beer which was excellent.

Expensive prices, cheap on product. Fish was so thin you could see the under cooked rice. They butterflied an already thin slice of salmon. Rice fell apart just by looking at it or if the wind blew too hard. Rolls were an equal mess. Maybe spend the money on training the cooks and not on the interior decor. Would have been better to just eat my debit card.

Tried their spicy yuzu salmon poke with quinoa kale salad and miso dressing base. Overall it was okay, I would go back. It wasn’t spicy, and there was way too much miso dressing, it out flavored the poke, even though there’s a good amount of salmon. Also, why add 2 types of onion and so much of both to this signature poke? It had both green onion and white onion, and so much that it overpowered the dish. I ended up pushing all the white onion to the side. For being one of their signature poke bowls, I would expect the ingredients and flavors to be well thought out. Next time I’ll just order a custom bowl.

Nice little Japanese food restaurant, no lunch specials or bento box. The variety of a bento box would have been nice. Ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura and what was plated was a extremely large piece of broccoli and two smaller pieces as well as two onion rings, thats it, no fried carrots or sweet potato, very disappointed in the veggies as it was actually just broccoli. Steamed buns were just ok, nothing spectacular there, gyoza was decent, white dragon or whatever the roll was called was good, as well as the hot tea. Service was ok, you order then sit and wait. Would come again for the sushi. Not the other items.

Considering that there’s only a few other ramen and sushi places in SLO, I’d definitely say it’s probably one of the better spots. Kept it simple and got a California roll and tonkotsu ramen, with both really satisfied me. If your a huge foody and have had top tier ramen (which I’ve had), don’t go in expecting perfection. It’s a family style restaurant and to have a hot bowl of soup & a sushi roll is nice on its own. Chef Sunny is also a super nice and friendly, plus the ambiance is pretty nice.
