We normally shop at 99 Ranch, HMART or Asian stores in Westminster. Our neighbors caught covid and we decided to make Pho to do a doorbell ditch delivery. You cannot have Pho without Thai basil to go with but we didnt have time to travel far so we went to 88 Ranch for some.... when we got home and unwrapped the package, we discovered the top stems were full of healthy basil leaves as we can see through the saran wrap but when you get to the bottom of the package there were multiple stems with hardly any leaves and the tips were removed as shown in the images. We never experienced this before... Im hoping that this is an anomaly and not purposely done to increase the weight of the package as a deception to customers. It was only $4 but this experience left me to give a 2 star review due to the staff at least seeming pleasant when were were at the store. May give this store another chance depending on if I have another basil emergency....Pho sure ;)Happy New Year, yall!

Came in for the first time and I was very impressed. The entire store is very clean, all items are stocked and organized nicely. Not much interaction between employees & customers (till check out.) Will definitely return to see what goodies are new. Would recommend to family and friends.

This place is super clean. Especially for an Asian super market. Their selection is really nice. I do feel like their prices are a bit on the higher side though. I once needed lemongrass and their prices were significantly higher than other stores I usually go to. Their produce area is quite well displayed. I try and stop here for groceries when I’m in the area.

OPENING DAY busy as hell. The store claims its an international store and carries products across various cultures, and it does. If youre looking for East Asian and Pacific Islanders ingredients. A very strong focus on Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean and Japanese foods and snacks. A good thing since the amount of stores with that focus in North County are few and far between and usually limited.Price wise, it is slightly pricey especially for the meats. But they carry some specialty cuts that the other groceries dont. If you want to shop around; some of the [snack] stuff they sell you can potentially get at Daiso cheaper by about 1$-50 cents. But you pay for one-stop shopping too so yeah.Considering the year and the problem of a pandemic and a need for social distancing; they inherited what has to be what was the SMALLEST Fresh & Easy in Oceanside and with them cutting a good amount of floor space out for the seafood and meat butchery; its hard to move around in that area because folks want their fresh meats.Same for checkout, it was opening day; 10 am when I arrived the checkout line was long. I stuck around about 45 minutes longer (1 hour 30 minutes) than I wanted out of a misguided need for the line to shrink. Didnt happen; and again because its a small store, opening day and EVERY ASIAN AUNTIE was stopping by; no distancing is really possible. Also there were some empty shelves; but I cannot be certain if they were intentionally empty in some part of the store or if it was purely because everyone bought it out two hours before I arrived (they have bread goods right at the doors and 95% of the bread was cleared out and in folks carts). So if you like pan de sal; get there early.Overall; a solid store that Oceanside sorely needed. After the first month I hope the crowds mellow out and the growing pains ease; until then 4 stars out of 5.

The Mecca of all Asian-Inspired Cooking, you can get pretty much whatever your heart desires here.88 Ranch has a nice variety of produce. I was impressed with the freshness & quality of the vegetables. We ended up buying 2 bunches of radishes, because they looked so good. They sell whole & sliced pieces of Jackfruit here, as well.The fresh fish & meat cases were both robust! A ridiculous variety of fish is displayed on ice here, & it all looked really good, including fresh caught Vermillion Snapper.My wife was preparing to make Pad Thai for lunch, & we were looking for the type of noodles used in this dish. With a whole aisle of different noodle varieties here, we searched unsuccessfully for awhile, before asking for help. A polite young employee quickly found & handed the Pad Thai noodles to us. We also bought some tamarind paste for this dish at 88 Ranch Marketplace.The tea aisle was impressive, with a whole aisle of Japanese, Chinese, Thai & many more varieties of teas for sale, both in bulk form, or in boxes containing tea bags.88 Ranch sells decorative tea pots, plates and everything needed to give your dinner the flair that matches the tasty cuisine you just created!I was impressed with the wide variety of different international products, including crackers & sweets, available here, plus fresh foods, as well as items you cant find anywhere else, like a particular rice wine youre looking to cook with.

It is rare to have an Asian grocery store here in North County. So when this growing multi-culture, military town of Oceanside was graced with 88 Ranch Asian Grocery store, my family was ecstatic as we didnt have to spend sooo much in gasoline and drive what feels like the other side of the world down to Mira Mesa or Convoy (which are the Chinatowns of San Diego) in order to prepare or grab some of our favorite Asian cuisine.88 Ranch, located off College and Oceanside Blvd, is much smaller than 99 Ranch in Claremont. However, it carries a majority of Asian products thatre hard to find in regular supermarkets (ie. fresh Japanese eggplant, ampalaya, galanga, etc). Fresh fishes and seafood (some live) are also available. Additionally, your choice of fresh fish can be cleaned, cut, and fried. Otherwise, this store carries most Asian products that 99 Ranch carries, but in a smaller scale.The prices at this 88 Ranch store can be a little higher than 99 Ranch. However, if you are in the neighborhood up north and need uncommon Asian produce or products, 88 Ranch may have it available in a pinch.... then again, i guess its a toss up between the price of gas versus food.

This is a fantastic grocery store. Im used to Asian groceries being a little more hectic than this shop, simply from the huge number of people usually in them and the extraordinary number of products they source and pack into a space. This shop was well laid out, had a large assortment of everything and generally had a good flow of movement, despite the crowds of shoppers. The produce was of excellent quality, the dry goods were well laid out and easy to find and their fish market looks amazing. This is definitely a shop I will continue to come back to.

The employees behind the seafood counter do not seem too thrilled to be there. I wonder if they are being fairly compensated? I left a 5 USD tip after they attempted to clean my mackerel pescados. I had to complete the task after I got home from the establishment and noticed the evisceration was lacking. Also I bought 2 multipacks of Chajjang myun and after consuming one my gastrointestinal tract was throbbing and cramping. I has to do a colon cleanse and detoxify my bowls stat. After about 10 bms down the hatch, my tummy felt better. Needless to say, I will not be frequenting this market anytime soon. BTW the second star is for effort!

As far as asian supermarkets go this one was lacking in a lot of items. They didnt have a single durian item, so its no surprise they Definitely had no durian. Also the seafood section had a double smell of rotten fish which stunk up all the middle aisles of the store. If you want an authentic Asian supermarket unfortunately youre gonna have yo go to San Diego because this aint it.

I love that there is an Asian market in Oceanside now. The prices of meats, veggies, and sauces is good. It is very nice to be able to get groceries that I need to cook Asian dishes. They even have a lot of the Asian kitchen essentials such as woks, Asian butcher butcher knives, steamers ect….However, I don’t like how a lot of the snacks in the front of the store doesn’t have prices. I bought purchased some since I wanted to try it but the prices of those snacks where outrageous.

I am so happy to have a local full service asian market in Oceanside. Its a bit smaller than most 99 Ranch markets but seems to have everything. The store is clean and well organized. Staff was professional and efficient. Prices were very reasonable. The fish and meat were fresh and presented well. The few negative reviews of this market did not correspond to what I saw. This is a very nice place to shop and very much needed and appreciated here in North County.

Granted, it had a strong fish market smell, but that is due to the pretty big selection of fish. They were also frying fish that day so that helped. An indispensable place to get the Asian ingredients I need :) has all of my necessities except for 盐焗鸡粉 and fruits of any usefulness, and loose-leaf tea. H-Mart has a wider selection obviously, but the nearest H-Mart is in SD. Great variety of meats, veggies, and snacks, although the pork is not the best quality in terms of taste. Love the pastry section in the front for $1-5 treats. Staff is kind.

I drove up to Carlsbad to shop at 88 Ranch Market that is basically a Japanese Market. Lately most cooking ingredients that are basic Japanese are missing in the stores around Encinitas.I found what I drove to buy. It is a busy store and the clerks are very helpful. I have never been to the store and finding what I needed was not easy to find. Great store.

Just moved down to Oceanside from the bay area. I am a cook and Korean and I was scared I wouldnt be able to find good ingredients. My server at a Thai restaurant recommended this market to me and I was blown away! This is the best market in North County. By far. Their produce selection is incredible, they have so many cuts of meat and animal parts, if you cook, come here!!!! Its truly amazing and I will probably not shop anywhere else while I am here.

This is the first Asian market that finally opened up in the Oceanside area, and I think the neighborhood is happy about this place. For those who are of Asian decent, now we don’t have to go all the way to San Diego to get Asian groceries. This place is similar and the closest to 99 Ranch Market. They carry a good amount of products that I would usually find in the Asian markets I find when I am in the Cerritos, Westminster, and San Gabriel Valley Area. They carry both Asian products and American products. I was looking for specific products, but they do not carry it at the moment. However, I believe I met the owner or manager, and he was nice and said that he’ll take my requests into consideration as they are continuously adding product based on customer needs.I recommend this place if you’re looking for Asian groceries/products.

Wide variety of dried noodle dishes for quick, low cost, but very tasty lunches. Supplement with canned fish or meats and still pay far less than fast food. I went the Monday after their Grand Opening and I was very happy with the visit. I went mid-afternoon and it was busy but not crowded. The patrons were not very careful with their PPE so I suggest being extra careful with yours.The staff were excellent and were very prompt at checkout. I was able to get an answer to a question about a snack Id never heard of before and their selection was really great.They have a great fish selection with staff who will cut specific fish for you or give you an order from their pretty vast fish selection. They have pre-packaged fresh fish as well, and I was sorely tempted to pick up a couple of Ahi Tuna Steaks from the fridge section.I was in a hurry and was in and out in under 15 minutes, even dawdling a little bit over the flavored Oreos.I am lucky this is on my commute to work and I definitely will be returning to shop there again. Highly recommend you go there at least once if youve never been!

Be careful about the price. They will charge you extra $$$. I bought euro custard cake 6pcs for a box, the price says on the shelf $2 something but when they charge me $5.49. And also I bought fish sauce (one 🦀) is $7.99 but they charged me extra a dollar. So it means they cheated on customer? I will not be back that store again. The store is not as big as those Asian markets youd find in San Diego, but its decent. Oceanside needed this! Wonderful fresh veggies( big bag of baby bok choy for $1.50), oodles of noodles from every Asian cuisine, sauces and hard-to-find condiments. We did not get the seafood, and yes it smells somewhat fishy like a fish market, but am sure will get meat and fish at a later date.

Glad this opened in Oceanside as it was much needed! It’s clean, great ambiance, and have tons of selections to choose. I bought the biggest kimchi and it tasted bad. It wasn’t expired or anything as I thought that was the case but it wasn’t. The kimchi was very soft, didn’t have that fresh crunch texture. And the flavor was not there at all. Decided it was a hassle to return it and just threw it away. It might be a bad one I got so I’m not completely sure since I never got the big container kimchi. Still a 5 star

I was going to prepare a stir fry dinner, went to my Albertsons and couldnt find most of what I needed. Went across the street to 88 Market and discovered Everything I needed. Its a fantastic Asian food market. Go there, see what they offer.

Heck yeah!! Finally an 88 Ranch Market in Oceanside!! Fresh seafood (blue crab, oysters, sashimi grade Ahi Tuna & Salmon, parrot fish & more), Palm Corned Beef, Coconut Cream, Taro, Taro Leaves (yup, Im Poly), and a variety of great Asian foods!! Too many good things to say + Management was super cool and helpful despite the chaos of a Grand Opening!! Go check it out for yourself... I hope this place stays here in Oceanside for good!!

Always appreciate having an Asian spice store in the neighborhood. Aside from not having some of “my essentials” which of course is understandable😉 the merchandising can use a little help. Different product category are all over the place. You might even see the same product in two different places… or maybe I’m just old school and this is a new tactic. Lol

Fresh vegetables and most importantly the store is so clean! Thank goodness I dont have to drive to Mira Mesa for Chinese market and Korean market. Short of hot food, they meet 95% of my Asian grocery needs. I have bought rice noodles, tofu, beef slices, leeks, herbs, onions, pho paste, instant ramens, kimchi for stew, tofu, udon packets... and a variety of frozen dumplings, dim-sum, red bean desserts etc. LOVE this store!

Very rude manager/owner would not let me shop in the store, no reason provided, told me I was trespassing so I said screw it Ill shop somewhere else, followed me all the way to the door with his camera from his phone pointed at me as if I had done something wrong, ive never done anything wrong there, never even ever had a chance to simply buy anything.I guess the owner just hates non Asian people.

Be careful when buying products from this market. My rice was infested with bugs and smelled rancid, and the meat I bought was spoiled. I called the market immediately, but no one answers the phone. When I went back to the store the next day, they would not issue a refund for selling bad food.

Plenty of options for Vietnamese, Thai, Filipino, Korean, and Japanese food supplies. Not so much for Indian, Malaysian, and Indonesian. Very few options for rice which was a surprise since its an Asian Supermarket. Prices of stuff, especially for snacks, are a bit more compared to Walmart (Asian section).
