A very well-stocked Chinese supermarket with a ton of products for a one stop store, but great only if you shop carefully for the sales and lower-priced items. For example the Chinese vegetables are usually great quality for the price.For example today, a dozen eggs for $1.49 and 6 for $1 green onions excellent!But 100 average-quality, Japanese green tea bags for $26.99 horrible!Get the store points card for extra savings.

I usually go here to buy fish, they have good verity of seafood, reasonable prices and good service, fruits and vegetables are also fresh. Conveniently located, in this shopping center parking is little challenge especially on weekends, but you will always find it. Best time to go is in the morning when not too many people are shopping.

This is one of the close and moderately clean Chinese markets in south Orange County. I usually go there to buy Asian groceries. I don’t know what has happened in recent months because the staff there are becoming really rude and discourteous more than usual. I only put up with them thus far, because there aren’t many Asian shops in south Orange County. There were a few rude staff member before but now, it has increasingly grown for the worse. It’s horrible that I don’t even want to go there anymore. The majority of the lower level staff (the stockers, cashiers, and produce workers…) are nice. The majority of the higher up Chinese staff and Chinese workers at the food court and bakery center, are so very rude and ill mannered. Learn some good manners people. Be better human beings. You are not helping yourself or your business by treating your customers like that.They are especially rude when you ask them questions. It’s like you’re not allowed to ask questions or something. They’re so stupid! Such nasty unacceptable behavior. I am never going back there. I am noticing other shops carrying Asian items now, so I will check those out from now own. I am not returning to ranch market. This kind of bad service is very common for the most part at Asian (especially Vietnamese and Korean), Middle Eastern, and Russian markets or restaurants. There are better options available and there should be better options for good customers.

Great spot to pick up some hard to find Asian food. You will find authentic meat buns, a full bakery and meat market, also fresh fish. You can also get interesting things like fish balls, mochi and shrimp chips. The store is laid out well and also very clean. Checkout lines can be long, but it goes by pretty quickly.

My daughter and I visited both 99 Ranch Market stores (within 2 miles of each other) today.This store was significantly better:- More space / much less crowded- Much larger produce section- Seafood odor was only immediately around the seafood sectionThis store’s lighting wasn’t flickering like the other store, but it was a bit harsh with the fluorescent tubes at the top of the shelves.

Great place for steamed lobsters! $7.99 a lb, the best most tender ones are 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lbs. it takes about 15-20 minutes to steam them. Best to buy them up to 3 hours ahead to let them rest at room temperature. Don’t put them in the fridge if your going to eat them in a few hours.

We often buy fish and fry it here, then take it and eat it at home. Also many kitchen ingredients and Asian food ingredients are sold here. There is mutton, rabbit meat and others. There is also a bakery inside, and ready-to-eat food for sale

I ordered 6 big fresh Tilapia fish and needed it fried. Gave instructions to cut the tails off, slice the steak, add some salt to it and regular fry it. Guess what! The fish was fried whole, the only thing they got right.I wasnt surprised because at first encounter, the crew member was grumpy, and rude. Had I discovered the state of the fish then, I would have returned it but I had already arrived home, some 50 miles away. I am still angry about it.Otherwise, the whole store is clean and well stocked with a great variety of mostly Oriental groceries. Go and visit.

Well stocked Asian (more Chinese variety than Korean or Vietnamese) with reasonable prices on most goods. Fresh seafood selection is one of the largest in this area, with H Mart down the road comes very close. Otherwise this should be on your top 5 list for grocery if you live around Culver Drive in Irvine.

I shop at this location at least once a week. The store is pretty clean and bright. There is a bakery and a hot food area with tables and chairs for dine in. Prices of items are good qhen on sales. On weekend busy time, there will be lunes to pay at the cashiers but for me, I usually go during weekdays morning with less people. On weekends, they sometimes have people giving out samples. There are plenty of parking spaces available, but on weekends, you may have to wait or park a little farther away.

This is a newer facility with same setup. The cashiers and people at customer service speak English, but most of the staff working on the floor dont. I NEVER could find any assistance for locating products because the staffs language barrier and their unwilling to help customers. One of my family members recently slipped and fell in one of the aisles, due to large grease mark on the floor. I found a man who stocked the shelves and asked him to get the manager and place a orange cone before clean up. He didnt speak English and ran away saying something I dont understand. My family member was fortunate that she walked away without any serious injury. It took us about 15 more minutes to grab the rest of the items on our shopping list. When we walked past by the aisle with the large grease mark, nothing was done. Its amazing to me that no one who worked there cared and theres their company culture. What a dramatic contrast of the business culture we are accustomed in large grocery stores like Ralphs, Albertsons, and Whole Foods. Im glad that H-mart is opening up more locations in Irvine and more American grocery stores are stock more Asian products. H-marts price is more competitive than Ranch 99 and has more friendlier environment. Places like Ranch 99 had no future because it has less and less competitive edge in the American market. I rarely go to it now.

4/1/2022 - I stopped in to grab food when I noticed Samwoo is no longer open.. I asked for single dish order, I was told $13.99.. little did I know... it is $13.99 per pound!! Its about the same amount if I had order a 2item meal.I ordered 4 dishes, and 1 duck that came to over $80.The employee knew she was ripping me off because I told her, I am being ripped off... she didnt allow me to stop the transaction.Dont get ripped off~!! Good selection of merchandise and a convenient location on Culver just off of 5 but severely limited parking. Finding a parking spot can be an exercise in patience so be prepared. In addition the individual parking spots are quite narrow so theres a much higher risk of door dings than in most lots. Update: with Sam Woo having closed the parking situation is much improved.

The small store that sells household items does not accept your card, only cash and no receipt. They ripped me off over $40 for a pair of six dollars slippers. Never returned the money back to me.The female boss was extremely nasty. Do not buy anything there.

The fish cleaning staff in fish dept was rude & unfriendly seemed he hates the job. I threw the number away because the number system did not make sense to me. The number screen displayed #24 where I took was #7. I forgot how much I love this place. Our 18th wedding anniversary was last Friday and we had planned to purchase some Live Maine Lobsters from a local market and have a Lobster boil dinner to celebrate. We do this because you cant get Maine lobster in most local restaurants and when you do, they charge you 3-4 times the price that youd pay at the local market. We dont mind splurging for sure but we just cant accept being taken advantage of. Ill tell you how.I called around to local markets and inquired about Lobsters. The first place wanted $30 per lb., last place I called which happened to be 99 Ranch Market after seeing their online flyer, blew my mind. They said they had a special going for small ones (one to one and a half pounds) for, believe it or not, $6.99 a lb.I knew immediately we were taking a short 30 minute drive to the market that evening.99 has everything Asian and plenty of everything else. There are so many exotic fruits and vegetables along with cuts of meat that represent many cultures. If you want fresh fish this is the place to go to. They have frozen foods from all over the world. Amazing! I mean this market has it all. Plus it was clean and organized and the prices or less than the large grocery chain stores.Again I forgot how much I loved this market. Were already planning our next trip and its on the calendar.Do yourself a favor and go check out 99 Ranch Market. You wont regret it. BTW- we devoured the Lobsters 🦞. Even made lobster rolls the next day with the left overs. 😋

The store has been upgraded. It is so clean and pleasant to go shopping here. They specialize in Southeast Asian grocery items, with other products from other parts of the world, too. If you are used to places like Vons or Safeway, you will find the shopping here entirely different! Even the housewares are unique and fascinating. Its a large, easy to navigate space with several kiosks inside including a hot food bar, a bakery, and a travel agency.

Purchased boba tea at the bakery and while waiting, my 11 year old boy took a look at refrigerator and grab bottle of juice. caucasian guy working at the bakery about 6 30pm told my boy with very aggressive manner “ Don’t mess up with my drink!” My boy just took a look at the bottle. I don’t know what his problem is. Then he came to me and said “tell your boy not to mess up.” Boba tea came out very poor… top plastic cover melted and folded. If you go to bakery with your kids, be careful that big caucasian employee. He is not supposed to talk to kids with that nasty manner and customer has right to take a look at product before purchase. If he does not like people touching it, then put the sign on!. Spoke to store manager and did not hear back yet.

Competition from markets like H-Mart have apparently prodded the chain to make the shopping experience nicer through great pricing on produce, and other items, as well. This is a Chinese market so many Chinese shop here as they have a very large selection of Chinese food. They also carry other Asian foods. Their selections are pretty good.. The market is large and well laid out so it is easy to get around. Their prices are average. I only shop here when I need specialty items that other markets dont carry.They have a Chinese food court with tables where you can dine. This is where I sometimes buy roast duck, salt chicken, Sar shiu or roast pork.

Ignore all the bad reviews, theyre just mostly Karens. This market is exceptionally busy at all time so the attitude of employees are explainable (I usually dont care about them, customer service is basically just a job and theyre just trying to get the money; if I got what I needed Im happy). Besides, I honestly respect the amount of work the workers over here have to deal with every single day. Came by to have some food while waiting for my friends to drop by, what I witnessed is an Asian version of Costco. Incredible works fellows!

This is the place for anything in Chinese food culture. The selection of fresh fish is outstanding. So no matter what youre in the mood for, they likely have it. The fish mongers are kinda funny too. They entertain me! They have quite a selection of Asian veggies and fruits as well. Plus, if youre a big hot pot fan like my wife and I are, you will find everything you need, including the hot pot, here for your hot pot gathering. Its pretty cool. Be warned, if this is your first time that youll be heading into the market, the fish smell is strong. So just be prepared. But after youre there a while, youll hardly notice it. Doesnt even bother me anymore as I shop here frequently. I still smell it, but its expected and I dont mind.

Worst customer service ever. I called to see if they had a certain type of fish . The gentleman who answered Transferred me to the seafood department. The phone rang and rang and rang and rang and rang, with the phone being picked up and then placed back on hold again. I called back a second time and the gentleman said he would transfer me again but I asked him if he could just check himself. He told me he was too busy and that he would transfer me again. Ever since Sam Woo BBQ place next door closed down, their deli is the only place one can get BBQ pork and duck and of course, prices are inflated as well. This location has a lot of options, and is one of their larger stores. A portion of the store is under construction, so some of the aisles are narrower than usual, but theyve done a great job placing inventory in a way that is easy enough to maneuver around. My daughter was excited to see all the Hello Kitty options and turned it into a scavenger hunt to see how many items Hello Kitty represented. The produce was fresh, the meat was well stocked, and I look forward to returning to see whats going to fill the construction zone.

They are renovating/remodeling for quite some time now. I feel the place is now a lot more congested but the items are still ok if you need Asian ingredients such as live seafood and various types of meats and condiments. Everyone wore masks and kept 6 feet distance. Safety dividers at check out. The only thing is that entrance and exit are the same with about 6 feet wide space to pass through. (-1 star) This was the quietest shopping experience Ive had, which was calming for me. Usually there are a lot of overhead announcements and music playing loudly, but Im glad that when I went it was quiet so I can focus on getting in and out quickly with my groceries list.

When you need certain items for Asian cuisine, they will usually have it here. There always seems to be a fishy smell in this store and its not the cleanest, but people seem generally helpful. On a funny note its also fun to see all the live seafood especially for my young children. I go here to grab ingredients for homemade pho.

Ive been to this 99 Ranch since I was a kid and also liked how they renovated the restrooms recently. I recommend this supermarket as a place to get good food.

After 10+ years of missing this place I took the chance to seek it out and explore it after my visit to my doctors office which is coincidentally around 4.7 miles away! I am a petit Asian woman and I am hearing impaired. I was here trying to shop two weeks ago, around 8:30 am in the morning. I wasn’t allowed to go inside even though I had a face mask on. Another Caucasian woman in her 30’s came around the same time with me but she was allowed to go inside to shop. It was all because she quickly said, ‘I am disabled’ when she saw I wasn’t allowed to go in. She was obviously an able person walking on her own two feet, yet no ID or questions were asked of her. This 99 ranch has a good point to give samples for some products; however, one of the lady that was supposed to give dumpling sample, I saw she has a whole tray of cooked dumplings and covered but didnt serve any sample to any customers. Saw some customers stop by and she just stood up there and sometimes she was trying to look busy opening another bag of frozen dumplings. I was cashing in some bottles and the worker came up screaming to me for taking the wrong garbage can to put my bottles their were so many also 3 times my son went to cash his check/paper thing and didn’t even give half of the money why saying sorry I did not see but i could see the 5$ and 54¢ she needed to give half on the counter and someOn the register
