This is a no frills, cash only hole in the wall. My family has been coming here for years. We go out of our way to get the banh mi sandwiches and the egg rolls. This is one of the few places that make the egg rolls with rice paper instead of the wheat paper. Their fresh spring rolls are good too but can sell out throughout the day. And the ice coffee is a perfect jump-start in the morning. I recommend this place to any foodie. But remember cash only.

1 star for the spicy Jalapeno zero stars for the sandwich. Other than that the chicken Bahn mi was the worst we have ever had. It seem they didnt care and just used old, dry leftover top portion of chicken and no sauce. The chicken was old and dry, very hard to chew. We couldnt even salvage any parts to eat because it was so bad. Into the trash where it belong. Not worth $7 in our opinion.

This place does have some of the best egg rolls and theyre cheap. $.70 or $.90 depending on the wrap. Perfect to bring to a party. The other food was good too and well priced. Its cash only. Theres an ATM at the market across the street.The only negative is the parking. Its very limited and not much street parking.

A lot of different kinds of Vietnamese food conveniently Togo !!!! They sell an assortment of different foods and beverages. I would say tho there banh mi is lacking I would only recommend the BBQ pork because the meat is very good. But sadly there banh mi lack any kind of mayo or pate unless you buy an option which has that. And also make sure to bring cash they don’t accept card. There egg rolls etc other than banh mi very solid. (Not trying to take away customers but right next to them Paris Banh Mi is right around the corner if your Trying to get banh mi)

Prices out of control now. $1.35 per egg roll. One of those things that used to be beautiful and special is now just a cash grab. What do we as the consumer gain for it’s the prices doubling? Is it twice as tasty? Do they no longer make you feel bad for asking for the fish sauce? Goodbye Achau. I once loved you. Now you’re just a memory.

I love this place so much. Affordable good quality Bahn Mi, friendly staff, homey vibe, and you can also get these sandwichws without having to use single plastic wrappings or bags at all. My husband and I LOVE this place. Bring cash and happiness is about to happen.

The only thing you need to know, is no human being on earth, comes here for anything other than the eggrolls. They might get other stuff while theyre here, but they came for eggrolls. If you came here and didnt get eggrolls, something is wrong with you, and you probably didnt have a 5 star experience, because the eggrolls are the reason this place exists.The eggrolls here are so good, that when you get back to your car that was illegally parked (because there is no parking) and youve got a ticket on the window (because there are homeless people and crackheads everywhere and that brings cops patrolling) and someone dented the side of your car (cause the parking spaces are smaller than your bà nội) youre still gonna have a good day. Cause you got eggrolls from A Chau bro. Its like that.

No sir, this is not the one. The people here are not nice, but if the food is right I could overlook it. The food is terribly overpriced for what you get. The banh mi was sad, sad looking and tasting. We’ve had delicious banh mi’s all over the world, coast to coast all the way to VN. This place is not it. We aren’t from SD, but came here on a recommendation and left puzzled. Go to Bale French, I believe it’s close by. The meat from Bale was SO MUCH BETTER, all the way down to the aioli and bread. I repeat, do not come here unless you like overspending on subpar food.

At the last Kensington Talmadge Business Association mixer, the host provided trays of egg rolls and sandwiches from A Chau and it was such a hit! People kept going back for seconds. Lots of vegetarian options, flavorful dips and sauces, just so delicious! Really a great easy takeout option for a party. Can’t wait to visit and try more in person!

Apparently many people don’t have a clue as to what an Egg Roll is. I sampled A-Chau’s products and found them to be the worst “Egg Rolls” I have ever had in my life.If you want nothing but “Pork” wrapped in rice paper then you might like these but the taste was not good and no cabbage or egg in the product. I tried both types they offered and ate 1/2 of each type and threw the other six in the trash. I will never shop there again. Friendly people, terrible food.Sad too. Because Szechuan-Mandarin on Mission Gorge Rd. had the best in town but they closed after years of great egg rolls! Now I can’t find a good roll in San Diego.

The egg rolls! These are one of my favorite snacks! I can taste the years of experience that it takes to make egg rolls this good.I found out about this place online. A Chau’s was voted one of the best places for egg rolls so I decided to test that theory.I went on a weekday. The parking lot was crowded and full so I parked at the restaurant next door and walked over to A Chau.There was a small line of about 4 people ahead of me. The line moves fast. There are lots of authentic food items to choose from but I just went with the egg rolls. You got 2 bumpy and 2 regulars. What’s the difference? The texture.The egg rolls are always fresh when I get them. They are well seasoned and cooked to perfection.I don’t know if there’s a sauce that goes to it. If so I’ve never had it.

This place is my go to for Egg Rolls. I usually order party trays, they dont take phone orders, but I promise if you order 100 egg rolls, you wont wait past 10 minutes. YES, they are that quick, and it taste great. Parking is terrible, I usually end up parking on the street, and at times, that can be full as well.

Been going here I since I was in the WOMB, when I was a kid, and still when Im an adult! A Chau is a staple of City Heights. The best place in town for eggrolls (i swear its like they put crack in them because I always come back). Every time I meet someone new, this is one of the spots I always recommend if they want a quick bite of Viet eats.

Used to be the ideal spot to go to before work or after work. Price has gone up quite a bit within this past few months. The two son that are always there are pretty consistent with pricing. The lady owner on the other hand is not. Current eggroll price is $1.05 and $1.15. There been times where she charged $1.25 for each, doesnt matter what kind you get. Also, if you spend $15.01 and hand her a $20, shell short change you by giving you $4.95. She will take your .04 rather than give you the .01. It happened numerous times, so I just stopped going.

Best egg rolls Ive ever had! Staff is always fast and friendly and it appears to be family owned which is cool. If you look in the back you see them rolling flavor coma inducing egg rolls nonstop which is important cause while I ate there I saw 4 people come in to pick up orders of 100 egg rolls each. Found this place driving by, and had to check it out. Hole in the wall local favorite. This place was definitely a mom/pop joint. Im usually skeptical when the prices are low, so I had just a sandwich.....then I bought 5 more items. This place was unreal. Everything is pretty fresh. Id like to see a bit more veggies in the sandwiches and the pork loaf sliced thinner...but the flavors are so good you dont even care. Ill probably stop by everytime Im in SD.

This place is ridiculously good. First of all, they always have such friendly fast service. Second. The rough wrap egg rolls here are the greatest food to touch the plates of planet Earth. They hardly touch the plates cause everyone eats them so fast. Some people hear egg rolls and they think of just your average meh egg rolls. The owner/cashier is funny too, and he prides himself on being speedy, which he most definitely is! If I had to drive anywhere for just egg rolls,hands down I would come here. Other places Ive been to leave their egg rolls sitting under a heat lamp all day. Not here though, theyre always churning out a fresh tray when their other one starts getting low.The sandwiches here are ok, and a bit on the small side, Ive had better.

My boyfriend is majorly in food lust with the egg rolls here. The first time I tried them I hate to say they were a super greasy and not hot... disappointing to say the least. Time to give this place some tough love. I have been a customer for years and I return because the food is top notch. Having said that, glaring problems still exist.1. They keep screwing up my sandwich. The problem stems more from the owner than the person making the food it seems. The owner would shout out the sandwich order with hopes of the correct sandwich being made. This method leaves a lot of room for errors especially when things get busy. I noticed that they sometimes write the order down and pass it along to the person making the food and that seems to be more successful but I still get the incorrect sandwich sometimes. They need to reorganize. I just dont want a certain item in a certain sandwich sometimes. Its not that complicated.2. Customer service isnt terrible but could use an improvement. Instead of looking miserable all the time, a smile and a thank you goes a long way.

This place has the best Vietnamese baguette sandwiches in SD! You get the biggest bang for your bucks when ordering their sandwiches, which comes with freshly cut cucumber and onions which sometimes are missing in other sandwiches stores. I think their portion is even bigger than Vietnamese sandwiches in OC and LA. My other favorite is the rocket fried shrimp rolls. Get it!

I was in line waiting to order some spring rolls which was already pre made on the counter top. I had my money in my hand next in line and another customer (asian) just came thru the entrance door. The old Asian lady behind the counter top allowing the other customer to cut in front of me. I already step to the register to show her I was already waiting and she still let the customer to cut in front of me. Im Hispanic grew up in biracial environment and the old lady behind the register made me feel like I wasnt welcome here. Ive been coming to this restaurant since I was attending to Hoover High.
