The waitress was super attentive and kind. The food was very delicious as well. The tandoori was oddly sweet, not bad, just a bit out of balance with normal tandoori recipe. Seems like a new spot as the inside was pretty empty for dine in.Only suggestion would be to have them decrease the music volume.

Been coming here since 2016. Either there was a change in management or there was a decision to try and cut cost somewhere. Main staple has always been Chicken Tikka Masala. Last time I ordered it for take out, there wasnt much chicken, the curry was not its usual consistency and the curry was broken. Thinking that it was a one-off, I ordered the same order the following week. To my dismay, the curry was more watered down than the last time, the curry was broken - the oil clearly separated from the curry and floating on top, there was barely any chicken pieces and the basmati rice was very dry, as if I had been served rice from the night before.Like I said, Ive been coming here for awhile, and theyve usually been on point with their food. The service is great, I usually order take out so I cant speak on the atmosphere. And I get it, times are tough and running a restaurant is extremely costly, especially with the increase in food and overhead costs.But the food I ordered these past few times is definitely different from when I remembered. GIven the sheer volume of Nepalese restaurants on Solano, I may have to seek other alternatives.

Winner for my favorite almost late night Indian spot in Albany Berkeley area, this restaurant makes some of the best non-around light, crispy, delicious flavoring, and just to test things out I always like to see where they will go with a chicken tikka masala, and a samosa. All three felt and tasted homemade, and this place is going to be a go-to destination for me, especially because of the fact that they stay open late I think till 11:00 p.m. while everything else in the area closes at 9:00. This is your later in the night Indian spot for the East Bay. Super friendly staff too.

I ordered to go through DoorDash for chili chicken and tandoori roti. The tandoori roti was fine and warm and nicely packed. But for chili chicken it was the worse. The old chicken was probably microwaved and put on the sauce and served. It was just horrible. I didn’t feel good entire day after eating it. The chicken was probably a week old cooked that was just put in.Edit: - I am editing my review to adjust the rating to 3 star temporarily until I try the Chilli chicken at this place again. As the owner mentioned, its a family business, dont want to cause harms but also want to give them another chance.

Coming from the east coast I have tried many Indian restaurants, however this was the best Indian food I have ever had. The food was very fresh and well prepared. Chicken Tikka was magnificent. Strawberry Lassi was delicious. Service was excellent and the ambiance was very comfortable as well. You must try this restaurant if you love Indian food.

Horrible tasteless food. Paid 40 bucks to not eat the food. We were really hungry but still couldnt finish even half of our meal. Tried Thali, Samosa Chana and veg Momos. Seems like I ordered the wrong thing for take out! I would recommend to not get the butter chicken as there were multiple pieces of cartilage and even a small bone in the curry. The curry itself was too sweet and unfortunately did taste like sweet creamy tomato soup as someone else mentioned.

My husband and I absolutely love their food. I live almost 15 miles away but drive at least once a week, only to enjoy the taste on their food. It is delicious! Every single time we come here, we go hope happy and fulfilled. To us, this is he best Nepalese food in the bay area. I used to come here before this family owned it, and the quality of its food and the taste has increased by a lot ( no comparison) since they bought this business. Tastiest Indian food I’ve had in the Bay Area so far. The staff is very friendly too (shout out to our server who did great on his first day). We had a few of their chaats and some currys with rice, my favorite was the lamb korma. Save room for dessert and get the pistachio ice cream, totally worth cheating on your diet with. Can’t wait to come back and try some of their other dishes!

Calling this place on their bluff. This isn’t worth the money.Butter chicken from hell. There were two types of chicken meat in this dish and both tasted off, as if it was reused from something else (one was red like tandoori chicken and one was a bbq flavor). The butter sauce was straight up roasted tomato soup from a box! Worst of all, GI upset the next day. Just bad when a restaurant serves a dish that makes someone feel poorly.The naan and lamb korma tasted fresh though.It’s a gamble, I’d say.

Delicious food! We tried a wide assortment of dishes, and everything was excellent. Nan bread was the best Ive ever had, and thats saying something. Try the samosas, which had a marvelous crust. Spice levels are as advertised. Atmosphere is casual, quiet and relaxed. Music is pleasant. One complaint: the dining room was very cold!

I love this place! I think it strikes a good balance between being a mainstream Indian-American restaurant and having an authentic Indian flavor profile. The food here may not win international awards, but has a rich and clean taste to it and feels well prepared. And its almost unbeatable when it comes to value (think Bay area prices). The environment is cozy and homely and has its own unique personality. Great place for a chill evening out without breaking your bank.

I was excited to try this restaurant and ordered the chicken makahni. It was good but the chicken was terrible. I kept spitting out hard chewy things and even bone. I ended up just picking out all the chicken because every other bite was like that. Staff was warm and welcoming though. The naan bread was great, too bad the chicken was terrible. Im a little disappointed.Edit: I changed to 4 stars instead of 3 because the staff felt so bad they called me to apologize. Seriously the nicest people. I will still return and try something else.

Super delicious. My husband and I once visited a few years ago and have been meaning to come back. We finally did about a week ago and decided to take my mother and our kids. We forgot what the name of the item we had the first time we went, described it to the waitress since the menu has completely changed and she made a recommendation on what it could be. She was right on the money! And it was just as delicious as we remembered. Im sorry I, again, forgot what it was. Its yellow and may be called Korma? Im not sure. I guess I just have to go back and find out. Oh darn.My mom was hesitant to go, she doesnt like Indian food... or so she thought. She ended up happy we didnt visit sooner because then we would have been here a ton more even though we no longer live in the area. Also, my mom loves Indian food now...This place is delicious. Best Indian restaurant in California that Ive tried so far (and Im Indian, so Ive tried a few). In terms of north Indian/Tandoori food, the fare was as good as a top-rated tandoori restaurant in India, which is saying a lot. (Dal tadka, raita and rotis were especially delicious). We had the veg momos from the Nepali offerings, which was rather yummy, too.Atmosphere and service are beyond par as well, and I felt, overall, that it was value for money. If I didnt live 40 miles away, Id come here far more often.

As a Nepali, we always expect very hot and prepared after getting order not only serving. We ordered veg momo, chicken Momo and naan and aaloo ko achar. After so many terrible restaurants at this location through the years this place comes along and not only lasts but is terrific. Which is great because I live about half a block away. Only eaten sit-down there 2-3 times but have gotten take-out for my wife and I at least 8-10 times. Wonderful food. Im not sure if weve ever ordered anything that was bad, its all good. Stand outs are the biryani, the tikka masala, saag paneer, vindaloo and the naan breads. Vegetable korma and masala dosa pretty darn good too. And nice people as well.

One of the places that my husband and I come back to again and again as it is our favorite Indian restaurant. Their tikka masala is always perfect, no matter your spice level, and they understand the idea of spicy! Even upon reheating, the masala isnt overly greasy, which is rather rare! Their butter naan is almost always fluffy and perfectly buttered and reheats wonderfully as well. The service is almost always spot on and the owner really makes a point of remembering repeat customers....he knows our order by heart now, even down to the spice level for each of us, even if it HAS been a few months since we went last!! Go here if you love inexpensive yet AMAZING Indian food!!!!

Radhika and her family are friendly, and obviously put so much love into their food. We had Aagan cater our wedding recently after enjoying the restaurants food for a couple of years. Our guests are still raving about the food months later. Aangan managed to get an huge amount of food to a venue that was tricky to access. We worked with Akash, Radhikas son on all the details before the big day. He provided us with suggestions to help cater to a host of different dietary requirements. They put together an incredible meal. The favorites were the saag paaner, tikki masala chicken, and curried sea bass, and the gulab jamun. We were worried there wouldnt be enough food for 115 guests, but there were plenty of leftovers.

Meh- Ive had better. Had the chicken tikka masala - should be a no-brainer for an Indian restaurant. The chunks of chicken in the masala were dry. They used breast meat instead of the thigh meat most places use - really a recipe for dry meat in a stewed dish. And after adding in the cost of rice and naan ( which admittedly was good), this added up to being kind of pricey for what you get.

Aangan is now under new ownership and unfortunately has really suffered as a result. Prices went up, portion size, quality of dishes and quality of service have all gone way down. I used to recommend this place as a go-to great meal. I can not reccomend Aangan nearly as highly anymore and that to me is sad.
