Came at the recommendation of a friend. Lounge seating outdoors was perfect for us w a toddler. Love the water view. It was pretty busy at 6pm on a Wednesday!Happy Hour was sooooo valuable. For 2 adults and a toddler, we got kids chicken ramen, kalbi fries, ribs, and cashew prawns. OMG we were so filled. We could’ve ordered one less item. Great value and quantity!

We moved to the area earlier this year & haven’t really explored all the restaurants just yet but came upon this after my wife gave birth & wanted her sushi fix after a long 9 months. We were seated right away on a Friday evening and the place was packed & vibe was amazing.Staff was super friendly & gave awesome recommendations on popular items from the menu. We loved every single item we ordered and they all tasted amazing.We sat indoor and they had beautiful decor all around. Hope we are able to get seating outdoor next time!Will definitely be back again to try out more of the menu!

Beautiful view of the fountain and delicious food. We ordered rolls, ramen and miso soup, everything was perfect, especially fast service (about 10 min☺️). A cozy place looks like somewhere in Italy, quiet street, sidewalk and nice patio.My kids were playing in front of me and let me enjoy the lunch

Aji Japanese Bistro was epically good! Not cheap, but great value. Im a celiac (no gluten). They were knowledgeable, accommodating and had a special menu. It was somewhat limited, but extremely delicious. The cuts of fish were amazing. The spicy tuna roll (forget name) was so great. The chefs sashimi cuts were top notch. The salmon was so nice - cooked perfectly, crispy on the bottom, and well seasoned.I didnt try the beef sukiyaki, but it looked amazing and was described as being delicious. Id highly recommend. A+++.

We have had incredible service both times we’ve been here. This restaurant is much more vegan friendly than others in the area. That being said, I’m really hopeful that in the coming years chefs and restaurants will expand their skills to include more plant-based options that don’t sacrifice on taste.It’s silly, ironic, and a little frustrating to pay the same price for a plate of food that simply omitted ingredients to make it vegan and often means taste has been sacrificed.

Great service, food and atmosphere. Bibimbap & peach cheese cake. Yummo!Update: February 28 2020Came in for celebratory beverage and grilled shishito peppers.The Smoked Old fashion arrived 15 minutes after my shishito peppers which trailed the waiter with water by 8 minutes. I was seated 8 minutes before I was approached by the server.So service is now very slow and seems to be on the shoulders of the bartenders. The shishito peppers timing was reasonable but the time to take my order was lacking. Food and beverage was as expected.Update: May 2022My wife an I came in and had a great meal. The service was outstanding sitting at the bar. People have good and bad days and because of the many times I have had a wonderful experience I have concluded the one time I did not may have been someones bad day.

Have been here many items but this trip was a big let down. Service and ambience as always was great. Food was a major let down. Calamari and Gyoza were under seasoned and bland. Spicy chicken ramen was surprisingly bland as well, broth was oily and lacked any flavor beyond the spice. Worst was the salmon salad. Salmon was clearly the end cuts of the fillet, small and hammered. Salad was unappealing. Overall very disappointing

First time visit... was very pleased. We enjoyed a dragon roll, and a duck appetizer. As well as the lunch special a teriyaki bowl and I forgot what my son order but he loved it. Prices were reasonable, service was amazing! The ambience was great! I will be back and I am interested in trying other items on their menu.

I had Spicy Chicken ramen and some fries as a side. The noodles from the ramen were so flavorful and I liked the texture. The water was spicy, in a very good way, and the rest of the ingredients complimented each other nicely. I really liked the layout and design of the restaurant as well.

Phenomenal experience and food. I would recommend Aji to anyone. I have had the opportunity to eat some amazing sushi in my life and this place was a great contender with them all. Also had the ribs and they were fantastic. Outside patio has a fantastic view as well.

Creative food and drinks! They do a great job of traditional favorites and creative fusion dishes. Theyre just as creative with their specials, what Japanese restaurant does taco Tuesday?!?! Great happy hour including late night happy hour. The classics and creativity also stretch to the bar work seasonal specials, local beers, great wine choices and great bartenders.

Very pleasant and laid back staff.The sushi chef definitely appreciated his work and welcomed the gratitude for his artisanship.Which we gave to him, because it was awesome!They are still working on some of the place, near the bathroom mainly, that said, the place has a very modern/chill/laid back feel.The music wasnt too loud, the food was served at the perfect temperature, it wasnt too dark or too bright.I had a great time!The food was fantastic, the staff was great, what else can you ask for?20-30$ a head and well worth it!Thanks guys!

I love that we stumbled into this place, without reservations, and it was surprisingly good! We were on our way to Red Hawk Casino and wanted to grab dinner on the way because I dont like the food at Red Hawk. Aji Japanese Bistro is near Higway 50 situated in the El Dorado Hills Town Center. It was Saturday night and the place was busy with great weekend vibes. We were lucky that a table had just left and we were seated shortly.The menu is an interesting mix of Japanese fusions and street foods. Since this was our first time, we stick with the basic. We got two rolls: Angry Tuna Maki - spicy tuna, maguro, cucumber, siracha and togarashi and Rainbow Maki - tempura shrimp, spicy tuna, crab mix, hamachi, sake, ebi, and maguro. Hmm....I noticed most of the rolls had tuna in it. They were both good and fresh, but not memorable. The 7 pc sashimi (Chefs choice) was fresh and good size but lacking presentation. It was 7 pieces of fish on a plain white plate. It was odd! We end the dinner with the best dish of the evening - Tonkotsu Ramen! The broth was flavorsome and filled with all the good toppings like tempura shrimp, char siu, perfectly cooked egg, etc. I would come back just for the ramen. Yeah, it was that good!The restaurant had a nice wide bar. Small booth lined one wall. Big outdoor area with patio heaters. This place is much bigger than I expect.Excellent service! It was a busy night and understandably the kitchen is a backed up. Our server checked on us a few times, informed us about the delay and offered her apologies.

The best salmon I’ve had in a long time. I ordered their lunch bowl with salmon and my partner had the same with crispy tofu. The rice was perfect, the tofu was excellent and the teriyaki sauce was flavorful and perfectly subtle.

The Hamachi Jalepeno is the best Ive ever had! Its so soft and fresh, laid in a bed of ponzu sauce and the kick from the fresh Jalepeno just kills it. We also had the spicy chicken ramen and we both had dealers choice rolls AND drinks. Everything tasted amazing. Not to mention the outdoor seating area next to the water with the bistro lights and the soft music just made it that much better. Do yourself a favor and come here next time you visit EDH 🙌

Not much of a sushi fan but did dine there because of a family event. I ended up ordering a hamburger that came with a side of fries. The burger was a disappointment, as it came on a couple slices of toast. Very cheaply done and came with a high price tag of 16 bones I believe. Beware of certain wait staff - lately they will recommend the most expensive items rather than listen to the customer. The atmosphere is great but thats about all it has to offer. Food was mediocre and nothing really grabbed anyone at the table. Everyone left hungry and feeling like they didnt get anywhere near what they paid for. The quality of the ingredients as well as the way the food was prepared and presented were also very mediocre and what youd get at any fast food seafood place except youll pay 2-3xs as much and wait twice as long. Service wasnt great either, didnt even get offered a refill or additional drinks.

We had a 5 Star dining experience with delicious food and excellent service. The cocktails were perfectly garnished and we enjoyed the fresh sushi, ribs, cashew shrimp and artichoke hearts. The attention to social distancing and huge outdoor dining patio were an added plus. Chef/Owner Russell Okubo touched our table and shared his recommendations along with the attentive service staff. We have been coming here for years and it is consistently such great sushi! The fish is always ridiculously fresh and their outdoor patio is so relaxing. This place used to be good but there business decisions lately have been all over the place. I scheduled and planned a big dinner for a birthday party in January when they said they were open, we went to dine in and they said they couldn’t allow people in as of two days prior. They canceled our reservation without calling me to cancel the reservation so the whole family drove from different locations only to find this out. Now today, I call in to do take out and they stated, “they can’t do take out because their kitchen is overloaded from Valentine’s Day” I have ordered for Valentine’s Day take out before and have never heard of anyone doing this. Good luck guys, hopefully management wakes up. Never eating at Aji again. Great food, terrible management.

Great place! A little hard to find at first. They have indoor and outdoor seating, as well as seating at the bar. They offer a nice happy hour with drink and food specials. Their artisan cocktails are amazing (Im a beer and wine girl, but I know Im getting cocktails if were going to Aji!) The food is amazing. Weve had sushi and ordered from the rest of the menu and have never had a complaint! Sometimes it gets busy and the bar staff is slow to serve their tables (too busy making those incredible cocktails that take extra time and attention), but other than that we have no complaints! Would definitely recommend!!

From the food to the drinks to the service, everything was amazing!The poke tacos were crunchy and filled with poke that has a nice sweet spice.The flourless cake was just decadent.The braised beef was tender and had great flavor.The panko breaded fish and chips was amazing!The panko breading had good texture and it wasnt oily. I visit this restaurant pretty frequently. The atmosphere is great both at lunch and dinner. Lunch isn’t typically as busy as dinner, which is great because the food is great and I hate waiting while I think about getting my good food. If you plan on eating here for dinner definitely call ahead, and if you don’t, come in sooner than later because the wait is generally pretty long. Can’t blame the place for being popular. The Japanese-Korean-French-American combo is to die for and if you’re in the mood for something, there’s a good chance they have it

We went here for happy hour and kids meals =). Happy hour is all day Monday and 2-6pm Tuesday - Friday.The kids meals are a great deal with plenty of food for the little ones. Specifically, the karaage and the grilled cheese were both good portion sizes with great crispy fries.The drink menu has something for everyone and the kalbi fries were good to pick on while enjoying a drink. We didnt get to try a lot of sushi, but we had 2 rolls that were decent but maybe a bit heavy on the sauces (Tsukiji and something else...). Overall it was a nice place and well definitely come back to try other things.

Hostess didnt tell us to scan the code on the card we were given to access the on line menu. Waiter walks up to ask if we are ready (after 20 mins). Now another 20 to let us finally see the menu. My birthday dinner at Aji Japanese Bistro was excellent. I give it a solid A rating and consider it to be one of the best restaraunt experieces Ive ever had, and without traveling too far from home. Every protein served had a near perfect tenderness and texture to it. Some of the sauces served with each dish complemented the dishes they were served with better than others although the sauces themselves held their own and worked well with some of the other options. A relatively expensive price to pay for a meal but you definitely get what you pay for. I have to give a shout out to our server and restaraunt host Matt for amplifying the experience as a whole due to his thorough guest interaction and service. I will certainly be coming back sometime soon.

I would have never known about this place had my fiancee not gotten a job in El Dorado Hills because this guy is safely tucked away in the town shopping center there. I was home visiting my parents and given the stellar reviews decided to take my dad out to sushi here. Overall, while the atmosphere/decor is pretty good, both the food and service left a lot to be desired. A few general comments:- Seated promptly and told a server would be with us shortly. Waited for ~20 minutes without anyone coming by to even ask about drinks (other than putting a bottle of water on the table). When someone finally did show up, no apology or recognition of the fact we had been waiting at all (almost like they were clueless).- Food presentation was poor (sashimi was smushed together on a small salad plate with carrots on the side).- The actual taste of the food was either incredibly bland (e.g. calamari) or completely over-seasoned (e.g. seaweed salad). Fried pork spring rolls seemed like they came out of a frozen package.Thankfully there are two other sushi places nearby, as I wont be going back here anytime soon.
