Solid quantity and quality of food for its pretty reasonable price. Ordered a shrimp udon and though the noodles were not true udon, it was a solid quantity of food and came with six shrimp. And a bowl of miso soup. A nice environment too. Tastes pretty good.

Great Japanese & Taiwanese food 🍱The portion is satisfying while the price is relatively affordable! They also have free hot green tea and would serve you a cup of miso soup along with your order! (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎)The waiting might take a little longer than fast food restaurants of course, but you’d know they make your order freshly, and it’s worth it! 😌The vibe in the restaurant is unique and antique. A nice place for people who love hanging out with friends in the special place, or just enjoy yourself 🏮🎏# Fried Pork Noodle Udon

Been coming here quite a bit. Speedy service and nice clean tables inside. Super close location so it’s very convenient if you are coming from Soda or Cory Hall. Personally I do find the tables outside to be a little low in level when eating. I love their Beef Udon and Chicken Katsu! I usually leave satisfied and full :)!

Self served tea, and a bowl of miso with each order (if you ask for it). Very tight interior space, but the service is nice. The two homies who take orders and bring out food are very friendly and respectable. Theres a nice lady as well who will bring out food and clean. They speak mandarin too!The food is what youd expect from a crowded small japanese restaurant in Berkeley for maybe around or a bit over $10 per entree.

Teriyaki chicken served tepid. Tempura veggies pastie. College acceptable since students usually have no pallette. Salmon seems to be gone, ALWAYS. Miso Soup is good

Theres a reason that Akis has thrived for decades at the back of the little food court on Hearst, just uphill a few yards from Euclid—fair prices for excellent food served by friendly and competent staff.My favorites are the bento boxes, most of which come with tempura, yakitori, miso soup, and rice. I avoid carbs, so they kindly leave potato out of the vegetable tempura and give me boiled cabbage instead of rice. I particularly like the sashimi bento and fried fish bento. Meals include self-service tea.

This might be the best value for money in Berkeley. Great choice of delicious meals, friendly staff, and very reasonable prices. I come here every time Im in the area. Big thumbs up.

Akis has become a once weekly destination for myself and friends. I love the food, and the employees are wonderful. My buddy loves the Fish Bento (very crispy), and my favorite is the minced pork and udon! They have self-serve hot tea indoors. Recommended heavily if you need a meeting place over dinner near campus.

Best fried pork chops and Taiwanese style noodles around! Great miso udon. I left my backpack here by accident and they kept it safe and sound until the next day. Can’t say enough good things about these amazing people!

At 11-16 a plate, the place doesnt really stand out much as a value, like it once did. The quantity of food might be large but thats about it, and the food itself isnt very noteworthy either. Seems fine if you live very close by, good atmosphere if a bit cramped. Nice staff, theyre most of the stars Im giving.

Went there almost every day last semester. Good value - $5 for a solid amount of actually good sushi. The bento box is great for $9, with tempura and everything! The downside is that the chicken that comes with it is never very good.

Consist Japanese-style food, albeit a bit pricy compared to the surrounding stores. Wait times can be quite long for some items; not a place to go for quick meals.Chicken tempura bento set is tasty, although very heavy; it makes me want to sleep afterwards.

Hidden away in the back of a little food eatery strip, is this place. Lots of atmosphere, with cool wood, lanterns, and little nick nacks. There are paper sliding windows that they usually open, and when they do there is a great breeze and the sunlight shines in just right. I usually get a Sushi Bento box and it is always great. It comes with tea and Miso soup prior to your meal. Good place.

I had a fine experience, but I was disappointed in the food. All the dishes either had meat in them or were battered and deep fried. My tables food was mostly brown.

A nice place to get some decent Japanese food. One of my biggest complaints would probably be the cramped seating that they had. The place was fairly small and did not have a lot of seating. The pricing is standard, but the service was on the slow side.

Food is normal. But the restaurant does not like you to pay in cards. OK, so I pay in cash. And one of the staff complains in Chinese about giving me change back (saying 這樣也要找...) which makes me feel very bad and I will NEVER go to this place again. Its dishonest if you do not give me the right amount. The tip should depend on your service, not a forced thing. I wonder if they will say the same thing to non-Chinese customers like that...

The food was good but I got a lot of hair in my makis. I am not exagerating like some angry/upset people when they leave a review. There was hair under the makis, in the makis, it was really gross. It can happen that you have hair but not that much! Looked like someone had turned bold making the makis. My friend told an employee immediately and they gave me other makis but they didnt apologize at all and brought back the makis with all the hair as well just in case you want them anyway. At the end a manager came to take the empty plates and I told her what happened. She didnt even look at me and only answered yes but we gave you some others. Should I feel like I owe them something because they gave me makis with no hair?Because the customer service is horrible and I am not sure of the hygiene in the kitchen I dont recommend that place at all.

Ever crave Chinese style Japanese food? Yeah I never do either. Youll find your standard teriyaki and katsus here. None of it will be anything special. The sushi/sashimi is not very fresh.

I ordered the sukiyaki bowl and my friend ordered the cutlet bowl. The sukiyaki had tough meat and for some reason had a lot of broccoli in it. The rice was also hard. The cutlet bowl was mostly batter. Also, while it was called a bowl, it came out on a flat, large plate. I wont go anymore
