You need your whole group here to be seated. It seems to get busy closer to 11am. Talk to the host and be added to their wait-list when you get here. Parking shouldnt be too bad (compared to more central mission) as there are a lot of residential streets around.Our server didnt give us any water refills, and kept asking us if we were done eating even though there was definitely lots of food on our plate and it was only 30 and 45 minutes into our meal...Food is quite yummy though and good portion size. The drinks were really good too - Uber horchata is nice and so is the strawberry calamansi. My favorite was the chicken porridge.Enjoy!

Alnico is a Filipino fusion brunch spot located in an unassuming building in the Mission District. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a slightly different experience than your traditional American brunch! They incorporate some traditional Filipino ingredients such as ube, sisig, and longanisa. I ordered the tito boy and the ube hotcakes. We showed up at 11 am on a Thursday. There was no wait for a table as the restaurant was quite empty.The tito boy was essentially a liquid-heavy shrimp and grits prepared with longanisa consomme butter. The corn and jalapenos were a nice touch to the dish, although the shrimp was a little overcooked.The ube hotcakes were delicious and fluffy. They were served with an extra generous helping of ube sauce which tasted fantastic, and thankfully was not as sweet as it looked.

Went here for brunch! Our waitress said the chefs are heavy handed with the food portions and it was true! I couldn’t finish my food. So happy they had gluten free options and they also had vegetarian options. Tried the Vietnamese coffee with ube foam. Delish !

I would do heinous, vile, evil, grotesque things to have this meal again. The ube pancakes had perfect ube flavor. The sauce had a nice consistency and added so much decadence, and the shaved coconut rounded everything out real nicely.The chicken was amazing, perfectly crunchy, sweet, and savory. Hard to beat a good piece of korean fried chicken. The waffle was solid, and the black sesame butter added a nice nutty flavor and unctuousness.The only gripe i’d say were the drinks, which were a tad underwhelming. But overall, amazing brunch spot and one of my favorite meals ive had thus far during my stay. Will be back next time! Love from Houston

We came here with reservations for Mothers Day and had to still wait a little before we got seated due to the table before taking their time. Everything was solid! My mom and sis loved the ube coffee drink and I liked my regular ube drink. The pancakes are good but you must have every bite dipped in the ube sauce. Next time, we can go for the smaller portion to share vs a whole order. The sesame chicken wings with waffles had delicious sesame flavor that was strong on the waffles which we were a fan of. The loco moco was the best one! The sauce was so rich and tasty! Highly recommend and service was great :)

I didnt like it. SorryCoffee wasnt good and was $7. The iced tea is like a sugar bomb (if you like it go for it)Maybe the purple pancake is good but I couldnt try it since it has dairy. I had a bad chicken sandwich for $21 and w tea and coffee was $40. Totally not worth it.

Food:10 out of 10 would recommend. Honestly, if everything else--service, ambiance, wait times--were horrible, Id still recommend going, just for the food.We were fatties and ordered way too much (Bistek, Tito Boi, Ube Mini Pancake Stack, Turon). It was all good. Just a heads up the mini pancake stack of ube is PLENTY. Unless youre carbo loading for some athletic event the mini pancake stack hits the sweet spot. Seriously, go get the food there.Oh and we got the Matcha Latte and Vietnamese Coffee with Ube. Also delicious. I wish we could taste more Ube with the Coffee but 🤷🏾‍♂️, its to be expected, as with most things coffee related, coffee tends to be the dominant flavor profile.The food arrived in a relatively quick manner. Considering how packed it was, I was expecting the food to take a really long time, but it didnt. Id say about an average wait period.Service:Absolutely fantastic. They were attentive without hovering, friendly without being too pushy, and were there when you needed them. What else could you ask for.Additionally, I was able to ask them to switch out my longinisa for vegetarian sausage (it was delicious btw). They did it all with zero fuss 👍🏾Ambiance:The place is really sunny and bright, nicely decorated as well, and since theyre so busy theres a constant humdrum of social conversation. Honestly, their popularity is a bit of a double edged sword here because the only noticeably negative thing that I could point out is that the place was very crowded and the tables are kind of close together. Even that kind of goes away once the food arrives lol. A stomach full of delicious ube pancakes and what is essentially shrimp and grits will often do that 😅.Wait List:Because of its popularity, Id recommend doing a reservation. They say wait times are usually about an hour. However, because were both lazy and impulsive we just decided to walk up, and despite being fully packed we were seated in like 15 minutes. Another kudos! 👍🏾

Alnico is a super trendy brunch restaurant in SF, and its worth the hype. The food here is very delicious; I especially love the chicken porridge — its always nourishing after a long weekend.Theres lots of delicious ube beverages and dishes for anyone visiting for the first time; I would highly recommend getting the mini ube hotcakes — even the mini portion is very generous, and is plenty! My friends and I like to get an order of the mini ube hotcakes to share, and order our own savory entrees separately.Be prepared for a wait if you show up after 11 AM on a weekend — to skip the wait, just show up at 10 when they open!

Got the Poached Chicken (gf) which is a congee and the Tito Boy. Loved both of them! Dishes we’re beautiful and food was comforting, well executed and had a lot of different flavors to keep it interesting the entire time. Left very full.

My friend and I have been wanting to try this place out. Weve been seeing posts and articles about the food and were curious. We decided to have brunch at Alnico on a Saturday at 11. My friend took a while to find parking, but she came just in time for us to get seated. It took about 20 minutes of waiting in a virtual line, but we luckily got seated quicker coz most of the other parties were bigger. I got the chicken wings and waffle and the mango mansi drink. My friend got their version of a loco moco and the ube latte. We decided to share the ube pancakes. Flavors were good and I really enjoyed the sauce on the pancakes. Wished I got something alcoholic. The interior is lacking and the staff basically rushed us to pay and leave. Cant blame them coz they were pretty busy. Is it worth another visit? Id go if someone else wants to try it.Edit: went again with a different set of friends. We were seated outside at around 1pm. Better service coz they werent in a hurry to get us out of there. The rib-eye Bistek was delicious! And as always, the ube pancakes had to be ordered. Everyone loved it.

A Filipino-style brunch, what’s not to love. Yes, the wait can be quite long during peak hours, but we arrived reasonably early and were able to be seated right away. The chicken and waffles, as well as the short ribs with rice, were delicious. The signature ube made for beautiful drinks like the Vietnamese Iced Coffee or the Ube Hotcakes. However, the taste may not be as enticing as the visuals suggest. With that said, the food was very good and all in all the restaurant was a great choice for brunch. Recommended.

The ube hotcakes are a must. We got the mini version, and it was more than enough to share. The hotcakes were light and fluffy, and the ube coconut cream was delectable. It wasn’t overly sweet either. We also tried the nicoloco mo ako, which is comprised of beef short rib in a gravy sauce, with garlic rice and two eggs. I wasn’t a fan of this dish. The gravy was very salty and there was just too much of it. The short rib was also pretty dry, and not very tender.Make sure to make a reservation for brunch as the wait can be an hour+.

The brunch food here is wonderful, and the ube drinks and dishes are incredibly eye catching. The savory dishes are largely portioned and the smallest dish our table received was actually the French toast (pictured). The mini hotcakes are actually quite large!The service can be improved. We originally rsvped outdoors but they had recorded an indoor on their records. We were accidentally given another table’s check and had to void our payment. The restrooms sadly needed attention.

I went on a solo date to Alnico for brunch on Friday. The staff was extremely kind, especially the girl who seated me and took my order. I ordered the mini ube hot cakes because I saw another table with the large one and there was no way I can finish it myself. I also got the ube horchata drink. The ube hotcakes came hot, beautifully presented, the cakes were fluffy and the ube cream was not too sweet, the fruits were great to pair with. I had a little trouble finishing it near the end even though they were the mini cakes. The ube horchata was sweeter than the hot cakes, it was good and you can taste the horchata. The tables are seated closely together, you can easily hear peoples conversations. I’m glad I got to try Alnico, I would definitely come back to try the other savory and salty brunch items—they look great!

Expect a bit of a wait, or make a reservation beforehand!All the dishes looked visually amazing and tasted great as well. My table ordered the niloco mo ako and the chicken & waffles.The niloco mo ako is a comforting and filling meal. All the ingredients were braised to perfection. The sauce was slightly too salty and I wish the egg could have been a tad more runny. But otherwise, it was a great dish.The chicken and waffles were also great and the black sesame butter was quite the interesting combination.We also ordered the ube hotcakes for the table to share. The sauce is really yummy, its sweet and sort of mango-y.I also had a ube horchata and it was decent.Overall, we had a great time. Would definitely recommend coming here for a unique brunch experience!

Went at 9am when they open on a Sunday and there was one other group there waiting. Was seated immediately. I recommend going early if you’re not a lines sort of person.The chicken karaage and waffles with sesame butter was good! Fortunately I was fashionably late to this brunch reservation. And when I say fashionably late I don’t mean arriving late to my brunch reservation. Actually my friends had arrived 45 minutes before me to add their name to the wait list and when I arrived that had just been seated. So right on time!!! Basically the wait is hellaaaaa long so if you are super hungry don’t come here because the wait is long. Now the waffle with the black sesame seed sauce on top was fire 🔥🔥🔥 like in a very delicious way. And no this is not spicy or hot. When I say fire I am referring to delicious. Anyways the Ube horchata was ok. Looks cute for pics!!! Now the short ribs with rice was amazing. Very flavorful to satisfy many taste buds. It’s the picture with the egg on top. We also ordered the crab Benedict looking type dish with the arugula. My friends and I agreed that there was something missing in this dish. Perhaps it needed more salt or maybe some garlic I dunno. We did agree that if Alnico added too many spices to the crab dish it can over power the crab flavor. Overall I enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Luckily I arrived late but my friends literally waited almost an one hour. so now the million dollar question is, is this place worth a one hour wait?

The hotcakes were great- not too sweet and fragrant coconut flavor from the Ube sauce. Ube doesn’t have a strong flavor on its own.Vegan tofu sisig was tasty. Vegan sausage was a good addition. Yes, the ube hotcakes are the star of the show. But the surprising thing is everything was good at Alnico!Its a brunch spot on the corner of Valencia and 21st which you can overlook because there isnt a lot of signage. Its a popular brunch destination so make sure you make reservations in advance.I love ube anything so I ordered the ube horchata and my friend ordered the ube thai iced tea. They were both so pretty and tasted delicious. We then each ordered our own entrees. I had the tocino with the traditional sunnyside up egg and rice. Reminded me just like how my Lola makes it. The fish plate was just as good and served a big helping of fish. The longanisa is not your typical longanisa and didnt have enough caramelization, but my friend seemed to enjoy it.We shared the ube hotcakes - which I heartily recommend. The portions are HUGE. Three of us couldnt finish one order, and I saw one table ordered one per person. I think you do get a smaller order if youre two or less, but its still a lot!I highly recommend this place for brunch, especially if you love ube!

The Ube flavored items on the menu actually tasted like Ube which I love. The pancakes were fluffy, not too sweet, and def meant for more than 1 person. I also got the Ube Horchata (the pic with the purple whipped cream) and it was perfect.The portion size for all of our meals was huge so come in with an appetite.There is usually a very long wait so recommend you get on waitlist 2 weeks before. Food is great BUT:1. Waited about 30min before being seated. Should have reserved in advance. That’s on us.2. WAITED ONE HOUR for our food to arrive. After one hour we called a server and asked them why our food isn’t here while the other table that ordered after us got theirs. They rushed to the kitchen and checked. Apparently they LOST OUR TICKET. The servers quickly gave them to us. It’s obvious that our food has been sitting there for a long time because it’s only slightly warm/almost cold. Not a single server questioned why the food sat there and wasn’t served & why we sat there for 1 hour straight with no food on our table. Nobody checked “how’s everything going” with us either for that whole hour.I get staffing is tight around holidays. But we’re paying a pretty high price for a long wait and cold food.

Food and drink we very tasty! Pork belly was tender, waffles in the waffles and chicken wings were just right, and the shrimp and grits and poached chicken congee were great. Drinks were also fun and refreshing. The ube pancake was very photo worthy though not our favourite as it was fairly sweet. Appreciated how you could make reservations via Yelp.

- definitely one of the best brunch spots i’ve been to in the city! thought it was going to be one of those places where the vibes/aesthetic were nice and food was meh but so glad this wasn’t the case and exceeded my expectations.- pretty authentic filipino dishes- a little on the pricier side, spending around $30 per person- make sure to get on the yelp waitlist since the line up was huge- service was a little slow, wish they brought out our drinks before the food. understandable though since they were busy- mini ube hotcakes: soo pretty and tastes even better. the sauce had a good balance of ube and coconut, was on the thicker side but still light and not too rich. the pancakes themselves had a good amount of fluffiness but the sauce was the star. recommend to share, as it might be too rich to have alone- chicken arroz caldo: porridge similar to congee. large portions couldn’t finish. everything worked so well together - the eggs, chicharon, sauce, garlic, and especially the chicken which just fell off the bone. great hangover food and so comforting- branzino: soooo good!! this dish reminded me of home and was cooked perfectly. loved the toyo-mansi sauce to dip it in and the side of tomatoes and onions- steak and eggs: must get!!! the best dish i’ve gotten here. steak was perfectly charred with so much flavor and the chimichurri was delicious- ube horchata: better than i thought it would be! not sweet at all and the ube wasn’t too overpowering. would get again and worth

Bike pass this brunch spot every day and there is always a small group waiting in line so I decided to try it. I ordered the The Ube hotcake (really are Ube pancakes). The coconut sauce is phenomenal: rich but not heavy. The pancakes are decent (nothing special other than the ube flour additives). Photographic, delicious, large portion.I came just after opening so there was no line, but it took a while until a server came to take my order. Great experience regardless.

I came here on a Sunday morning and was surprised that we didnt have to wait to get a seat! This place seemed super new and I feel like it definitely deserves the 5 star review on yelp - the food is so aesthetic.FOOD:My favorite dish that we ordered was the boiled chicken - it was congee and pretty typical congee and super warm and comforting after a night out! The dish didnt look like itd be a standout dish but each spoonful of the dish packed such a big burst of flavor.The side of the hash browns was a nice addition - the sauce it came with was a nice twist on a classic dish.I liked the korean fried chicken with waffles because Ive had a lot of normal chicken and waffles but the soysauce and the crispy texture made the whole dish feel unique and more special than other variations.The final dish we got was the pork belly - the pork belly itself was nice but the rice to pork ratio was pretty bad - we didnt finish the rice part of it but ate a lot of the rest of it.I also really liked the ube pancakes - the aesthetic and visual look of it was probably the highlight of the dish - but the flavor was quite standard in a way. It was almost too sweet.SERVICE:The food came out super quickly and the staff were really nice about getting us an outdoor seat.AMBIANCE:I liked the outdoor seating here since the area that the restaurant was in was a nice place to sit down.

I have not been lucky in scoring a box of the Ube Mochi pancake mix at Trader Joes the last 2 times it was available. And Im not willing to pay 20 dollars for a box on Ebay!Alnico makes some of best tasting ube pancakes Ive had. Not too bland, but not too sweet either. The pancakes alone make it worth the wait. The Chicken and Waffles were a good choice with the sesame butter slowly melting on the hot Waffles. Was not a fan of the poached chicken- too much work to try to eat it!

My friend and I visited around 10 am on a Sunday and were able to get seated right away. The food was so amazing! The Ube pancakes are a definite must-try. They’re super fluffy and not too sweet and very filling! I also got the Ube horchata and it was so good. The right blend of Ube and cinnamon. My friend and I also shared the chicken wings and waffles which were really tasty! The wings were so crunchy and flavorful. 10/10 would recommend for any brunch or fusion food lovers!

I came here for brunch a couple weeks ago with my wife and a few friends as our very first dine-in restaurant since the pandemic started and it did NOT disappoint!Ive always enjoyed asian fusion restaurants (if its done right), but most of these restaurants primarily focused on dinner, this may be the first asian fusion brunch restaurant Ive been to. Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical at first, but this place really hits it out of the park. Their menu selection has just the perfect balance of go-to brunch dishes with an asian twist to them.Even though our entire party were all vaccinated, were all still a little bit covid paranoid and it was very reassuring seeing how spread out the tables were inside the restaurant. At the end of the day, its a restaurant looking to turn a profit, so we didnt tables to me yards apart, but it was enough for our entire party to be extremely comfortable.Our waitress also stayed masked up the entire time and was super friendly throughout our time there.Now, on to the part that were REALLY here for...the food!We ordered family style so that we could try as many things as possible. We ultimately ordered 6 dishes split between 5 people.Crab Omelette - my favorite here. The eggs were on point, the avocado & chilis added a nice kick to it, and most importantly, they do NOT skimp on the crab whatsoever. Mamas in North Beach has always been my favorite crab omelette in the city but this one gives Mamas a run for its money.Steak & Eggs with Chimichurri - Ive always loved steak & eggs, whether its making it at home or whenever I ate at a diner so its always been an all time favorite for me and I must say, I never thought of adding chimichuri to this dish and theirs really took this dish to another level.Korean Chicken & Waffles - waffles? good. korean chicken wings? really good. Together in a single dish made both even better! I was always used to regular fried chicken with waffles, but the korean chicken wings made this even better. The bit of spiciness in the korean chicken wings really put a kick with the waffles that Ive never experienced.Poached Chicken Porridge - this was ordered by someone in our party and I wouldnt have ordered it myself. Growing up in a Chinese household, jook was a staple dish...and I ALWAYS hated it. It was always just so bland. No flavor and just bits and pieces of meat (if there even was any). Alnicos may have been the first porridge dish Ive ever enjoyed in my life. The depth of flavors was something I never associated with jook and just like the crab omelette, they did NOT skimp on the meat here.Pork Belly & Beans - this was probably the most questionable dish on the menu when we were ordering. The description didnt really stand out much and we were pretty close to not ordering it, but Im glad we decided last minute to add it as well because it turned out to be one of my favorite dishes of the day. The pork belly was perfectly cooked, just the perfect amount of crunch and incredible depths of flavors.Ube Pancakes - I was never a fan of pancakes, I always preferred the crunchiness of waffles (see above), but Ive always LOVED ube. Ive only ever had this dish at a restaurant in Honolulu and taking a bite into these brought me back to the beaches of Oahu. The ube pancakes combined with the coconut flakes was just on point. It was so good, it was half gone by the time any of us realized we forgot to take a photo of it!Our waitress also mentioned they may be offering dinner in the future and if their dinner menu is as good as their brunch menu, I look forward to making a return for dinner!All in all, it was a wonderful experience and the food was great!Alnico was every bit worthy of our first dine-in meal after getting fully vaccinated.Hell, Id go even if I didnt get the vaccine yet!Might even be worth it if a vaccine didnt exist!Just kidding...not really...

Alnico is pretty good, but definitely on the pricier side. I went with a couple of friends and we split the Ube Hotcakes, Chilaquiles, Chicken and Waffles, Tofu Sisig, and daily Omelet (dungeness crab). We also got a pitcher of Guava Mimosas.All of the dishes were pretty good, but the standouts were definitely the Ube Hotcakes and Chicken and Waffles. (The Tofu Sisig tasted good as well). The Ube Hotcakes are massive and come with a delicious Ube/Coconut sauce. Mimosas were pretty standard.I would definitely come back occasionally because of the price - almost every dish was over $20. The line here is pretty long, so I would recommend making a reservation if you have a larger party.

Surprised by the glowing reviews tbh. We were here on a Saturday morning. There’s not really any atmosphere per se—a big tv had four sporting events playing on it and there was music playing, but the tables and chairs have seen better days and the plastic drinkware was covered in water spots and looked dirty. We ordered ube pancakes, bacon and eggs, a guava mimosa and French press coffee.The coffee came out and was lukewarm at best. It was gross. We told our waiter and he said “oh yeah we were having trouble with the water temperature.” So why did you bring it out? Odd. The guava mimosa just tasted like cheap, sour champagne. No guava flavor was detected.The ube pancakes were good and the portion was huge. I’d maybe get them delivered but it’s not a place worth going back to. I wish they had an east coast location! I had one day in the SF Area, and I’m glad I made a stop here.Friendly and fast service. A clean and spacious spot with natural sunlight peering through, a perfect place for breakfast!I ordered a specialty drink, mini hotcakes, and a side. My whole order was brought to me within 6 min. On their waitlist for 45 mins before text us the seats are available, seating outside on the sidewalk. The food was OK, looks pretty but missing some flavor. Also because its windy day, the foods came out barely warm. The most uncomfortable thing is, one homeless guy standing close to us, later on used a knife cut down a bunch from a tree, dragged out back and forth near us, but he never leave.

Nice brunch spot for some decent Asian fusion.Came in on a Saturday at 11:30am and was seated right away.Korean fried chicken and waffles - the fried chicken is delicious. Very crispy and crunchy. Good soy garlic flavour. The waffle though was meh. Very doughy and too soft for our preference. Also, lacked flavour with just a little bit of some butter on top. It ended up being very dry. This makes this dish only really good for the chicken and quite pricey for the 5 wings.Poached chicken congee - the chicken drumstick was fall of the bone. Lots of toppings made it quite tasty. Could do with a bigger flavour punch but it was good as it was still. Definitely a healthier dish though very filling.Mini ube hotcakes - it was very purple but the ube flavouring was a tad lost to me. I did like the coconut flavour and also how fluffy the pancakes were.

The food was really good for a very reasonable price, which made me all the more sad that I can’t recommend this place based on my experience.We went here for Sunday brunch, and left after waiting an incredibly long time for service and also frozen to our bones. The waitlist wait was a bit long, but that was understandable considering it’s so popular. The issue that day was just an incredible lack of efficiency maybe from being understaffed. It took us such a long time to order and get our food (a few tables that had been seated maybe 10 mins before us had finished their food and paid the bill before we got our food). We were also freezing cold in the restaurant since their side entrance was open the entire time for serving outdoor dining customers. Our food was ice cold before we got through half of it, and we were eating really fast because we couldn’t take sitting there anymore.All in all I wish so badly that I could recommend it, but we were just miserable at the end of our meal.

This Filipino styled brunch place was delicious and I would definitely come back.My table ordered the ube pancakes, tofu sisig, grilled branzino, loco moco, and a bunch of drinks.I would recommend the grilled branzino (very light and tender fish) and the ube pancakes. The ube pancakes was hands down the best dish we had. The ube sauce they used was amazing - I could probably drink it if I could.I took off a star because of the service. We had a reservation beforehand so we didn’t have to wait in line. Our server came to our table once to ask if we wanted the loco moco because they had only 2 left… And didn’t come back for another 30-45 minutes. Luckily we got the loco moco or we would’ve been hangry. I think the waiter forgot about us or didn’t think we came to order more because we didn’t get water for the first 30-45 minutes of being there and they did not look like they expected us to want more food.

Highlight of this meal was the ube cream on the hotcakes, absolutely delicious 🫶 Their tofu dish had a ton of tofu on it that was well done. This and the other dishes are definitely meant to be shared so come prepared to eat family style to try lots of different dishes. Overhyped brunch food that is more instagrammable than it is tasty. The chicken and waffles featured soft, weirdly doughy waffles and chicken wings that were flavored with a shiny and very empty soy sauce. The ube pancakes were better, sweet and coconutty and bright purple, but failed to make up for the depressing shrimp and grits, which came with 4 overcooked little shrimp in a bright orange sauce. Most puzzling of all was the pitcher of DIY guava mimosas - we were given a carafe of wine, but the guava didnt arrive until several minutes later (after wed already had some wine, and couldnt figure out why it didnt taste at all like guava). The little vessel of guava puree added a bright pink color, but none of the promised flavor to our wine. On the way home I bought guavas from the corner store and reminded myself of the taste.

The seafood grits with the soup taste like the soup with corn called (swam)you grate a young corn sauted with shrimp chicharon or crispy pork belly. Misleading reservation/wait-list system. The Yelp wait-list can be submitted in advance prior to arriving at the restaurant. The app will update you on your position on the list. The restaurant also has separate reservation wait-lists. So the app may notify the you are up next, but the restaurant has their reservation list and they get priority so the wait time may be much longer than anticipated. Today, when my group submitted their name for Yelp wait-list we were 10th. Got to the restaurant and waited 20-30 min. Finally, said we were next on the list. Waited another 20 min and checked with the host. They said technically we are 4th up because their are 3 parties on their separate reservations list. Meaning wait time could be an hour + more. You can understand why we felt it was very misleading on our actual position in line and true wait time. Its was an unfortunate and frustrating situation.
