Amami Sushi Bistro in San Bruno

We came on a Sunday night with reservation and it was super busy. It took a while for the waitress to take us to our table.Parking might be hard to find since it’s street parking in el camino real and the service is a bit slow, but the sushi makes it all worth it.I highly recommend the omakase! For $42 you’re getting 10 pieces of big pieces of nigiri. The fish was quite fresh and tasty, and I love the fact that they’re so much bigger than the rice. Their popular sushi rolls were also really good. We got the melted in the mouth and Romeo & Juliet rolls. The sauce and combination of ingredients worked really well. Tempura was also good, battered well and came out very crispy.They were also kind enough to give us ice cream on the house, which was a nice surprise and a sweet ending to our meal.My only complaint about the food is our grilled squid came out lukewarm. It was still tender but definitely didn’t taste as good as if it came out fresh and hot.

For less than $50, we were able to get a decent plate filled with sushi and sashimi. It was enough to feed two moderately hungry people and leave on a good note. The quality was actually really good. The service was too good so it felt a bit invasive, but overall REALLY GOOD.

We dined here during the lunch time. Everything on the special menu are great. Everything on the normal menu seems fine. Recommend the Kobe beef and uni.

Their omakase was very good. The rice was a little flavorless and sushi were falling apart a little. However, for that price, it was very good.

I ordered the shrimp/veggie tempura and the omakase. The tempura was crispy and the shrimp was big and juicy inside. The omakase is such a good value, they are very generous with the portions. I enjoyed trying the different types of fish!Service was quick and pleasant. They give you free tea and are very proactive about refills. They even gave me a small scoop of green tea ice cream at the end of the meal! They’re so nice! Definitely recommend this place!

Three of us went here for lunch.We got 2 sushi specials and 1 Unagi don. We also had 2 orders of Uni sushi.Overall, portions were very generous on all of our orders!Sushi was very delicious.Unis portion was 2-3x of what I would normally expect ( MP was $25 for one order, which is 2 pc). It unfortunately had slight smell and a tad bit too cold.

Very good sushi and very good value. Their $42 Omakase has great value. The fish was so fresh. The uni melted in your mouth. Highly recommend this small chain restaurant!

Very friendly staff and chefs. I sat at the sushi bar, and the skill of the cheff was in full display. My sashimi was delicious! I plan to go back many times again!

Best Bang for your Buck omakase right here at Amami sushi babyy!Long cut fishes over a pillow of rice is a match made in heaven. Definitely get their omakase setup and if youre feeling it, a whole plate of sea urchin. Lets get you fed.@phidingthefam

Absolutely insane tuna fatty rolls, so fresh and literally melts in your mouth! The omakase set also has great value! The sweet shrimp is kind of hit or miss, but overall definitely recommend this place!
