Food is standard tasty… quantity is sufficient as well… the Thai Curry’s don’t come with rice and are comparatively thicker than other Thai joints, the Chicken Satay has a hint of tandoori flavor to it which makes it a bit unique in taste, the Tom Yum soup is very light in flavor and a lot can be improved in the taste… whatever said the cost is extremely high for a restaurant of this standard…literally shocked seeing the receipt!
Food was OK! My food was too spicy, even though I requested medium spicy; the manger was kind enough to change my dish salad. Thanks 🙏 to the manager. My friend couldn’t finish though, because it was extremely hot spicy. So make sure - you ask the sever about spicy level between 1 to 5.
There are few places which i want to go back over and over whenever i am in the area. Amarin is one of them. Their roti is out of this world, and many other items on the menu definitely worth to try. After about 6th round, its time for a review, isnt it? After a usual start of rotis tried their coconut soup this time, and the chicken. Neither disappointed. After pandemic i could see a big uptick in the crowd, and once again enjoyed the atmosphere and décor.
One of the best Thai restaurants around Bay Area, easily beats each one of them. Hands down to the authenticity and no frills restaurant. Whether its lunch or dinner, seating outside, having that wonderful meal, paired with the vibes of Mountain view Castro street is a delightful experience. A must visit restaurant, loved every meal I had ever since.
I usually go to this Thai food for lunch once a week, this is the first time for dinner. The outside seating was all full, so we took the inside table and ordered the favorite dishes of Green Curry Chicken, Musamun Beef, and Chili with Green Beams and Tofu along with jasmine rice. Singha is a must for dinner at a Thai restaurant 😎🍺 Cheers!
Our first time at their new location. The food was as usual amazing. I wish they brought back the Papaya Pad Thai to their menu, we greatly miss it!

The cauliflower curry was good. They are apparently “short staffed” and still full with people. The waiters were literally running around the whole time. A business should do better than this. On top of this, they charged a 15% service fee for 2 people and then when I didn’t tip on top of that, they had the gall to ask me why I didn’t tip more.
We sat outside last Saturday evening about 6pm. There was excellent people watching from where we were in front of the restaurant in Castro Street. The servers all wore masks which was appreciated and the food was delicious! We ordered the chicken fresh spring rolls which were some of the best that I’ve ever had. We also ordered chicken satay, super green curry, and mango salad with tofu. My only complaint is we ordered extra tofu for the salad but it didn’t look like any more than normal. Next time we’ll just order the fried tofu as a separate dish. By the time we were finishing up there was quite a line waiting for food and inside it looked like the restaurant was full.I’m happy that this restaurant and all the ones on Castro Street seem to be making a come back after the pandemic hard times. It’s so wonderful that Castro Street is closed to traffic it really feels like a European vibe there.
Nice flavored, Authentic Thai Cuisine.(+) Just enough coconut milk balanced n mixed with slightly acidic curry spices to incite your tasting palate and open up your appetite.(-) Some dishes however are a bit too sweet or overpowering.(-) Most dishes come in “small” amounts, in the $20s n don’t come with rice. You MUST order Rice because Rice goes BEST with curry!(-) Dish portions can be larger to satisfy most diners appetites n satisfactions
This was tasty, fresh and fine for a quick meal not very authentically Thai. It was not particularly spicy and the service was so so.Is it a mixture of styles as I noticed some Indian food on the menu and cilantro in everything which I would associate with Vietnamese not Thai cuisine.Portions enormous so good value for money if you want to take home and have lunch for the next 2 days.
My experience here was more than good. No problems with service when my husband and I were nearby craving for Thai food. Red curry with chicken I ordered was so flavorful and rich! Eggplants made it even more delicate. My husband had super green curry and also was happy with his choice. I really liked the atmosphere of this place. Nice wooden furniture, peaceful music, dimmed light and nice tableware put it on a level higher than a lot of Thai restaurants in the area. Definitely recommend this place and gonna come back occasionally.
Great service, ok food, small portions.Food is nothing out of the world. Menu has a lot of classic Thai dishes. Tasted ok, definitely not worth the price. The servers were great though and checked in often.There are better Thai spots out there, but its not bad if youre craving something on Castro

I love this restaurant, the food is the closest Ive had to real Thai food, but unfortunately they leave something to be desired in terms of protein, I ordered a chicken curry and paid for an extra shrimp, they added only 3 shrimp, unfortunately the amount of protein leaves something to be desired but the flavor and quality are very good.
Amazing meal! We got takeout and we loved every single dish! The roti was absolutely delicious, not greasy. The green curry was so good. We also got the pumpkin curry, the spicy green beans, pad thai, and the mango special. Everything was delicious. Our favorite was dessert, mango with sticky rice. Service was excellent too! Highly recommend.
We used to like Amarin Thai cuisine but the quality of the food has declined seriously over time. We ordered 2 dishes at different spice level. Both didnt taste good and the one that was supposed to be a medium spice (a pad thai) tasted weird and was more than super extra spicy!!! Not a good experience and I dont think that we are going to be back anytime soon.
I have tried couple of their dishes in the past and every time I visit them I order their pratha which is so flaky and crispy like a croissant but in the form of a roti.Their mango salad, papaya salad and larb (I ordered it with chicken) have very refreshing flavors.For main course, I usually go with spicy red curry paste fried chicken and basil fried rice.You can’t go wrong with any dish they serve!Note: Their spicy is medium-spicy for Indian palates.

My review is mostly based on the food. I ordered Khao Soi, and it was super super salty, I could only manage to finish half of the food when I no longer felt hungry, with the help of many grasses of water. This kind of food should not have came out from any restaurant. That being said, other people in my group were pretty happy with their food orders.

This Thai place has been around since I was in grade school. That was more than 15 years ago. The fact that this place is still thriving on Castro street is a testament to the authentic and delicious food served here.My go to order is the Tom Yum Hot and Sour soup and the seafood Pad Thai. The soup comes out on a burner and the sourness of the lemongrass is perfectly complemented by the savoryness and spiciness of the soup. This pad Thai is my favorite because its not too sweet. Ive tasted many Thai places in LA and found the pad thais to be not as savory and more on the sugary side.Also bonus points for asking for the Thai Chiles in fish sauce. It is a spicy and umami kick in the mouth. Prepare to feel the heat!Also the Roti was a new dish I tried. It was crispy and the sauce was excellent!
The sitting arrangement inside is not that great. Doesnt feel very nice or welcoming. Definitely not high end. And the service is just ok. However the food is amazing. Really delicious. Flavorful and texture.

Worst worst worst possible place !! Used to love it before pandemic but now the quality is just too bad !!I ordered Thai Basil fried rice and panang curry and all I received was just tofu and no rice for the fried rice and panang curry was just tofu in coconut milk ! No veggies nothing !! It’s like I paid 50$ for just tofu !! This is insane !! Where is quality control?? Last time I ordered soup with tofu but got chicken! Stay away ! This place is going downhill !! I tipped them during online order for crying out loud !! Never ordering again !!
Food was average. Being a thai food enthusiast, the flavors and taste did not meet my expectations. The tomyum soup was very good. Other dishes like panang curry which i ordered did not give a fresh feeling. Considering numerous options for thai food in the bay area, i would nof recommend this place
Its a decent Thai restaurant, a bit higher in price compared to other Thai restaurants in the bay area (probably because its in Mountain View). The service was fast, and the food was average.
The food was pretty decent but very small portions. Servers are friendly and accommodating. I was a bit scared after reading a bunch of reviews about poor food quality and people getting sick afterwards but my food tasted fresh and pretty yummy.

The panang curry I had here was so delicious!! It was on the spicier side, but still managed to have a saucy and delicious curry flavor. The service was pretty fast for us, and they were attentive to our needs. The one downside was that they charge extra for steamed rice :(
This is a great Thai restaurants with other locations. It serves consistently seasoned and aromatic Thai specialties. It will be a delight to have their lunch buffet back. Chicken leg appetizer stuffed with noodles was dry and chewy this time. Always bustling, and attractively presented dishes is a constant reminder to come eat here again and again.
Best Thai food I have eaten in South Bay. Have been looking for a good Khao Suey and finally I found it here. It was sooooooo yummmm. Mtn View downtown has such fun vibes and with outdoor seating and yummy hot Thai food on a cold night, just a great experience.

Food was good and delicious, but service was the worst and they had less staff. Customers are treated in a terrible manner like mentioned other reviews. I would assume a takeout for food since it was good.
The curry we ordered for pick up was very delicious and great quality! I would give five stars but my suggestion is that at the price point they could have certain dishes such as curry or other non-noodle dishes come with at least a small serving of white rice or bread as it doesnt satisfy your hunger and not as enjoyable without rice or some kind of starch. Here is a photo for anyone planning to order pickup, $16 chicken curry this is the portion size, not enough to be a full meal so you would want to order something else with it or you will still be hungry- but again that becomes quite a pricey meal. Good Sweet pumpkin curry and Spicy pad Thai. Service was hit and miss. Waiter good but we had to get our own plates for dinner after the dishes were served. They must be short on staff.
Pretty solid lemongrass pork (big serving) and great mango sticky rice. They served our food in like 10 minutes it was crazy fast. Lots of other menu items looked tasty like the panang curry, pork neck appetizer, BBQ ribs etc. Would come back and try more.

I love that Mountain View closed Castro. I can enjoy vegetarian Pad Thai on the streets during sunset, with the sonorous choo-choo-choo from the Caltrain tooting in the distance.Would recommend.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and overall it was a nice experience. The food was decent and offered a good variety of Thai dishes to choose from. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant and gave off a cozy and welcoming vibe. The service was good too, the staff was friendly, attentive and very patient as we were a bit late. I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a nice Thai dining experience.
The waitress cannot clearly communicate. I ordered house special fried rice. The rice is soaky and doesnt taste that good. It is below average Thai restaurant quality. Theres a reason why the rating is barely 4.0 while the restaurants around it have better ratings.

I tried this place with my friends. I ordered a pad Thai noodles with tofu. It was very filling. I wish it were more spicy even though I asked for a spicy one but I think that is how they make it.

Amarin used to be 4/5 stars but after my last two visits, I can no longer recommend this place given the far better options on Castro St.I’ve lived in Mountain View 10 years and frequented Amarin often. However, the food quality has recently become mediocre. I ordered the Tiger Cry beef and they forgot to add the marinade!! No flavor or seasoning at all.Worse, they brought my meal too quickly…. the meat had clearly been sitting under a heating lamp. Dried out on the outside edges. They’ve definitely optimizing for fast food.The couple next to us also complained about their order. Amarin is not worth the price anymore.
We had a very good experience in this Thai Restaurant. All associates were so good to us and our 16-month old twins. All food was really good. Selection of drinks not big, but very decent. We will be back.

Delicious! The chicken satay is really good, and well cooked. Roti is not too oily or buttery, and well seasoned. Chicken yellow curry is really good as well. Pineapple fried rice is served in a pineapple, and is delicious. Always a 5 star experience and definitely a favorite!

Amarin Thai has been in bay area for ever and has done well. I stopped going as the food is tailored for mass market and not authentic at all. I am pretty sure they can make authentic food. A friend whom I did know well went on Sunday eve and the place was packed. We ordered two authentic dishes - hangar steak and catfish. The steak was burnt from outside and uncooked/tough inside. We had specifically asked for spicy catfish but they it was mild which tastes wierd. Thai food needs a decent amount of heat or it tastes yucky. So I left a small tip and the lady came and asked me if I made a mistake and I said well the food was pretty bad and instead of empathetizing she went on and on as how it is unfair and hurts if I dont leave a big tip. She asked me twice if I was going to leave more tip or not. It was almost like she was demanding a tip. I understand everyone is hurting with inflation. But this was a pretty bad and awkward conversation. Probably the last time I eat there.

I brought my family here for food; during the pandemic they have a great setup of eating outside. We ate the super green curry, Tom Yum soup and spicy Eggplant. Everything tasted great and the service was excellent. This was my second time here and I enjoyed it! Adding this to my list of Castro fav restaurants
Havent been here for a while and was happily surprised by mostly excellent food. While the rating is more than 4 stars, it wasnt quite 5 as the chicken in the Tom Yum soup (and one other dish) had the unpleasant taste that typically results when the chicken is incorrectly cooked, e.g., reheating it after a cool down. I am a bit sensitive to such taste. Anyway, the soup base was excellent. And, all other dishes were very good except for the chicken itself.

The food was average... but what I had a difficult time with here was their bathrooms... I think i have seen better bathrooms in 3rd world countries. 😔One was broken and so the female restroom was used for both male and female, the signs were confusing... they just felt very dirty and unkept. I think they need to remodel their bathrooms and make sure they are always functioning... especially in a place like Mountain View with as much money being made... the standards need to be a bit higher and more respect needd to be given to the customers. 🙏💜I will probably not return here because I prefer cleanliness & functionality. Especially when you are paying over $100 for a meal 🙏
One of the best Thai restaurants I have been. Hot Tom yum soup was made of shrimp, mushrooms and tomatoes and it was very sour. Hoa Mok Fish was tasty and the spice level was pretty good.
Overall the quality of the food is very poor and lacking in flavour. We ordered on DoorDash - there was no option to add extra peanut sauce (we would’ve paid) so we kindly asked for an extra peanut sauce. We ordered $60 worth of food so didn’t think this would be a problem. They did not give us any extra sauce. The Tom Yum soup was not good; thé quality of the seafood in it was quite bad as well and tasted frozen. We also ordered the Pad See Ew - the noodles were over cooked, practically no flavour, and they put maybe 3 pieces of broccoli in. The noodles were all stuck together so it was somewhat inedible. We also ordered the vegetarian chicken satay which was just mushy. I would not recommend this restaurant.

This is our go to that place in mountain view. Decent menu and big portions. The chicken satay is particularly good. I would only like to get a lime wedge with the pad Thai, and a little more spice.
Amarin has been around for a long time, and 15 years ago it was good but unexceptional. However, since Ive returned more recently (post-2021) I have found that the food has improved significantly. I particularly like the angel wings, the pumpkin curry, and the beef medallions.

Good grub. I ordered a pineapple fried rice to go but didnt expect them to pack half a pineapple. Its great to eat out of a pineapple if dining in, but takeout should not include the pineapple shell.Edit: Have been eating here more frequently. Had the basil tofu last time, where they decided to remove the sauce from the dish. We asked it to be added and they obliged. The chef (owner) came out to apologize and told us the story the behind the sauce. Good place to hang out and eat since the road is still closed to traffic.
Amarin never failed to disappoint me. Who gave you the courage to say you are the best Thai in MTV? Im pretty confident you can compete for the worst though. Amarin is on my personal black list but after so many years I had to come back to them for a dinner with colleagues. They said we didnt reserve for outdoors so no outdoors for us. I didnt make the reservation so I was not sure of all the details but then I said I can wait here and if an outdoors seat became available can you at least give it to me? He said no and left. Zero coordination. Its not like there are people waiting right now. There were 0 parties waiting and thats their response. Typical Amarin, consistent service all these years.There are so many wonderful Thai places out there, dont ruin your precious nights out here.
Ordered take out for a Pineapple Fried Rice, Pad Thai, and changed from Mango Chicken to Basil Chicken.The restaurant shows a menu where the chicken fried rice is $14.99 and told me so. But when I received the check on my take out the charge is for $18.99. The argument is that the pineapple in the pineapple fried rice warrants the extra $4. This is by far the most expensive fried rice dish for an average, non-high end restaurant who charges $4 for a few slices of pineapples and hides the item as a House Special Fried Rice on the bottom of the menu while the fried rice options costing $14.99 are featured in the middle of the menu.Moreover I changed my Mango chicken to a Basil Chicken. The basil chicken costs $1 less than the Mango chicken yet the restaurant refused to refund my $1 difference after my change order.I will not be returning to this restaurant due to their unfair practices. $19 fried rice costs more than most sushi rolls at nearby sushi restaurants in the area. $19 is basically an entree item at most places yet at Amarin Thai it buys only rice, very few chicken and pineapple.And no refunding for the $1 on the change order? I dont care if your customers are billionaires. The restaurant should refund the appropriate money back to customers unless the customers clearly waive this transaction.
Great prices, service, and overall experience.This is without a doubt one of the best bang for your bucks you can find in the area.I ordered spicy pad Thai and my girlfriend ordered basil fried rice. We both loved it and had plenty of leftovers for later.Also, if you like spicy food then you definitely need to try this place! Enjoy :)

I went with a group of three other people. Our server was nice and competent. The food was well-prepared and tasty. Out of the three dishes we ordered only one was a little too spicy. If you order the chicken Thai basil anddo not want a really spicy dish,I would give a heads up to the server that you would like it less spicy then their typical. The restaurant is clean and is decorated nicely. There is outside seating if you would like to sit on Castro.

Now this is my favorite this place. I love Thai food and of all the places I have tried in south bay, this is the best. But this review is about their phone ordering service and this happened twice. An extremely unfriendly lady answered the phone, which is fine cz I care about the quality of the food. Twice I have ordered soup over the phone and asked for THAI HOT. They messed up both times as the soup could barely pass off as mildly spicy!! To add to this, they messed up my veg soup order to seafood!! This is horrible and unacceptable. Next time, please answer the phone with your ears open!!!

Most of the vegetarian dishes were well made, while the non-vegetarian (chicken) dishes were decent, nothing to write home about. The quantities are good to share with a group. Amarin has a good mood of Thai food to suit most people. The food is not very spicy, so its a good place to introduce people to Thai food. The menu is quite complete and most meat items can be substituted for tofu or soy protein. So, its not creative with the vegetarian/vegan cuisine, but its no problem to get enough food.They accommodate larger groups with no problem. Ive taken my team of fifteen there several times. They have more traditional table seating at the front for medium sized groups.The bar is not incredibly well stocked, but it does the job for dinner. There are lots of places nearby for fancy cocktails after dinner.There are multiple locations. Make sure you pick the right one when getting directions or making reservations.
Food tastes pretty good. Portion is decent. We ordered 2 apps and a few main courses. All of them turned out good. Service is a bit on the slow side, maybe its because there are lots of people here. Parking can be a problem if you come during busy hours. There are a few lots nearby and I think they are all free under 2 hours.
Amarin Thai offers an extensive menu with dishes that go beyond the usual standards. Last time my friends and I tried a golden curry with cauliflower and chickpeas. In the past, weve also had the forest curry with bamboo shoots, pumpkin, bell peppers, baby corn, mushrooms, green beans, and sweet basil. I appreciate the separate vegetarian menu with lots of choices.The entrees tend to be better than the appetizers. We shared Thai samosas last time, but they were small and oily. Service is fine if you come near the start of the dinner service. After that, the restaurant gets very busy. Keep that in mind if youre seeing a show at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.
Thai iced tea was great, the house fried rice was spicy and tasted good.
I was quite impressed by their extensive menu. We ordered 4 dishes and all were quite good. The Tom yum soup was very flavourful and tasty. Thanks to our server Tiew who gave us fantastic service. There is a big public parking little ahead of this place and its free :) So dont worry about Re to adjust the spicy level to your taste .. else you may find food on the sweeter side !
Who cant like this restaurant? We love the uniqueness of the dishes (beautifully balanced combination of Asian tastes blended into core Thai dishes leading to savory - and spicy, as needed - options on the menu (while also liking the traditional Thai fares that are featured). Service is quick, attentive and down-to-earth. Their kitchen discipline isolates the vegetarian concerns from being mixed with the rest.
We love this place! Food is great and the service was fast. I like the way they serve their soup:) Theres a lot of places to eat in downtown Mountain View but not too many Thai restaurants. This is definitely a great place to have Thai food in the area. I would definitely go back to this place again.

Thai place on Castro street, very interesting decor, prompt service, may have a wait at peak hours. They have a whole vegetarian menu. Food is not exceptional but fine. Overall experience is pleasant. This place is good for groups and kids. At peak hours, parking near Castro street could be a problem, even though there is a parking lot right behind Amarin.
This was my second time at this restaurant. The first time I ate there, the food was okay, but since my friend and I love Thai food we decided to try it again. We ordered the fried rice dish, green curry and crispy chicken. Not only was the food subaverage, but the crispy chicken was soggy and greasy. To add injury to insult, the server was rude and didnt care that the table was too small for our food. Twenty minutes after we were served, a server came by to ask if we were taking a break from our food since we had not eaten. I told her that the food was tasteless, greasy and unfit for consumption. A few minutes later, she came by with our bill for 78.00 dollars. I asked to speak to the manager and told him that we did not eat our food because it was inedible, he came back and said he talked to the waiter who said that the food was just fine. I told him that it wasnt fine to me. He said that he was willing to give us a 20% discount, but would not do anything more. I told him that we did not eat our food because it was terrible, yet he insisted that according to the cook the food was fine. A few minutes after we left, my friend started vomiting because the food made her sick. I ended up with bad heartburn and an upset stomach as well. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
I love to come here for lunch. There usually isnt a wait unless you are with a larger group. The lunch menu is extensive and has something for everyone. Good prices for being on Castro. Service is generally good, although the water cups are small so you might want to pace yourself during your spicy meal ;)
Our waiter was pretty rude and made myself and my coworkers uncomfortable, and it took a very long time for us to get our meals. Food tasted good, but I found a long piece of hair on my plate and the meal left me feeling like someone had punched me in the stomach. Overall a bad experience :/
We had the house fried rice, spicy pumpkin curry, spicy sweet basil stir fry, and mussamun curry. Everything was fantastic and we fought over who was taking home leftovers. Outdoor seating was lovely.

I ordered a medium Tom Yum soup and Mussaman Curry for a takeout. The Tom Yum was $14.99 and the Mussaman Curry was $17.99 +$3 for beef replacement. When I opened the container, the Tom Yum soup was in a really small food container and didnt even have the vinegary taste, which is what I have tasted from other Thai restaurants. The curry dish tasted good but there were only 6 pieces of beef stew chunks, 4 pieces of potatoes and the rest was seasoning and curry soup, poor amount of food for $21. Really disappointed. This is a really bad experience with this Thai restaurant and I will definitely not go back. 😥

This is a very good place for large parties as well which is a big plus as we have team lunch here.The service is relatively fast which is needed during lunch times.It’s not the best Thai food but you would generally have no complains with the food. My favorite is musumun curry and green curry.
Really good vegetarian options! They have a separate vegetarian menu and they cook tofu multiple ways. I always get the house curry, it’s served in a pineapple and is so incredibly delicious. One of my favorite restaurants in this area
Restaurant is huge. One of the few places to have no wait to eat dinner on a Friday night on busy Castro St. Vegetarian friendly as they have a multi-page menu just for vegetarian entrees.Thai food was solid although the portions are on the smaller side and the prices are higher than what Im used to for Thai. Pad Thai was nicely seasoned and I really enjoyed the papaya salad (tasted fresh and had some heat to it.)We did have to flag down our server both to order and for the check but they were friendly and food came pretty quick. Would come back again.

They handled a big group well, and most people liked the food, but the mango salad was a missed opportunity. The mango wasnt ripe, and it was cut sloppily so there were bits of peel at the edges.
Large Thai restaurant with a broad menu, including many vegetarian dishes, and reliable cooking. The food feels a bit bland, but it is always pleasant enough. I can easily recommend their versions of Seafood Tom Kha, Pad Thai, Honey Pork and Pineapple Fried Rice, all on the sweeter side. Amarin is certainly a good choice for families and groups, but it may disappoint Thai cuisine connoisseurs or passionate foodies. Service is pretty reasonable, and it has improved over the years.
I loved this place. But the last takeout I got was very disappointing. The spicy basil chicken was just a coconut curry filled with squash. I apreciate using fresh local vegetables but the coconut milk was too sweet and it was not the same dish I was expecting.

Waited exactly 55 mins on the table after placing the order on a Friday evening. Reminded the server thrice about our order and he just kept asking us to wait. Left without eating.This restaurant is so greedy, they fill people up at full capacity inside, full capacity outside and then keep making online orders for pickup. There were other tables that kept waiting for their food and complaining, servers couldnt care less. The menu was handed on a weak paper, spoils the entire feel of dining out.We went in after 55 mins of placing order to tell them that we will have to leave now, the response was Okay and no apology whatsoever, neither in words, nor in behavior.
Poor service. I ordered non spicy pork and they gave me lime spicy pork. Came here a week ago and they also were too busy on Friday to give proper service. Mango sticky rice for dessert had sugar cubes that were not smooth. Also less mango than my favorite Thai place in MV!
Delicious Pad Thai (chicken or veggie, both awesome), can even make a vegan option if that’s what you’re hoping for! Consistently delicious, been coming here over last 4 years - this space can fill up so I’d say try to arrive early on Fri & Sat evenings. Huge menu, including whole separate menu for the vegetarians in your group, so you should have something to satisfy everyone! Try now :)
My partner and I went for lunch a couple of days ago, and it was very tasty. I enjoyed the Red Curry Chicken, which was tender, and the curry sauce was just spicy enough to make me sweat (I ordered the 2 pepper spice level) We also indulged and ordered the Naan...and it was delicious, crispy, and came with a side of peanut sauce.Great spot, but seating fills up quickly, so hurry in.
The food doesnt seem fresh. Its dry. Customer service was slow, had to ask 3 times for everything. The food quality and service can certainly get better.

Fast service and really good tasting food. The fried shitake mushrooms were amazing with the jalapeños and cashews. The eggplant curry was a grain more salty and the house curry was excellent. Unlike typical Thai restaurants they never asked us for the spice level. You get chilli sauce separately if you want extra heat. This made the dish taste as it was meant to be. They do have special seating for big parties and families.
Everything is too sweet… We ordered two spicy dishes, but both are not spicy but very sweet. The tea is also too sweet. I dont understand why do they put so much sugar. Its too much even for Americanized Thai food…
Love their food. Lemon grass coconut soup, green curry and spicy pad thai are our typical order. This is a great place for either lunch or dinner. The room is pretty quiet and it is easy to hold a conversation or even a business meeting.
I got some killer noodles (forgot the name, but they were right after the pad Thai on the menu) and the staff were very friendly. The portions and price were also very good compared to the rest of Castro Street
I might be spelling this incorrectly but their Hoa Mok Fish dish is amazing. I always get it along with some curry and rice. Owner is extremely friendly and staff is nice as well. Parking garage nearby makes it convenient to go to. Highly recommended.
First of, let me say I went there on Thanksgiving night so the atmosphere was probably a little bit more quiet than usual and the staff was probably more available as well. So the overall experience was probably a little bit better than usual. I hesitated between 4 and 5 stars.The food was good, although Im not an expert in Thai food. Its a more expensive than the average Asian place around but coming from where I live thats still pretty cheap (less than $20 for all dishes).Last but not least, another thing that is different from other average Asian places around: they have a good selection of alcohol besides beer: good red wine and many good whiskys.
This restaurant has a nice atmosphere and decoration. The front area has short tables where you sit on the cushions on the floor, which we prefered that but couldnt book it. The food is decent with good prices. However, the restaurant was a bit busy during lunch time so we had to wait a bit long to be served.

After meeting for coffee with a friend on Castro street in Mountain View we decided to get dinner before heading home.Amarin looked interesting and not as crowded as other places. The interior is simple but still classy enough to be a proper restaurant.We ordered chicken curry and spicy pan fried noodles. The mixup with the curry (they initially brought chicken tofu) was solved without any issues and very fast. Im not blaming them for the mistake.My spicy pan fried noodles where over cooked but surprisingly spicy.The staff was as friendly as I expect them to be in a large place like this.The food was good enough, but nothing to write home about. If your on Castro and crave for Thai food - go for it. If youre open for other food, this area has better options.One plus: they offered to pack the food we asked to take home. In most places they just give you containers and leave you to do it yourself.
Loved the options available here especially for vegetarian people. It was crowded on a Saturday night. They also have traditional sitting options but it for a party of 6 or more. Service was bit slow since we got a table at the end of the room. We had ordered roti creamed curry and golden bags. Both were super delicious. Will visit again to try different items on the menu. Definitely a must visit.
Foods taste just ok, not impressive at all. Overall, the foods are overpriced for the amount given. Roasted duck with asparagus dish was extremely salty and there are only 5 little pieces of duck for $17, like what?!?!? Totally NOT WORTH IT!I was very annoyed and frustrated with the customer service especially. The host was polite, friendly and helpful, but not so much the servers. A slightly above-average Thai and Chinese restaurant. Good vegetarian choices. The food is good. The service tends to be no-nonsense rather than friendly, probably due to a language barrier. The restaurant itself is very small inside. But comfortable enough.
Bad experience - to start off the water tasted soapy. The waitress was really rude. We ordered the lemongrass pork and green curry- both were disappointing. The curry looked like it had a pound of oil and the chicken tasted old. The pork was just okay. Don’t recommend at all.
This place was not bad. I had the duck curry. It was not as good as other duck curries that Ive had. I wish the duck had crispier skin. I would like to try a few more things on the menu and then perhaps they can bump up to more stars. Rating them on the duck curry alone, Id say 3 stars.
This is one of the best Thai places in Mt. View. The food never disappoints. They have a full bar, but it seems to be easy to confuse the wait staff if you try to get fancy with your drink orders, so keep it simple. Service is efficient, and its pretty casual.
Food was excellent, service was not. We felt like a burden the entire time. When we ordered we chose the hanger steak, our waiter informed us that it takes 25 minutes to make and that they close at 2 PM. It was only 1 OClock. The appetizer took a really long time and no one came to check on us to give us water. When it finally cam they dropped it off and didnt ask if we needed anything, so then later I had to flag a waitress down to ask for some chilli sauce. I asked for 3 things the entire meal and she seemed extremely bothered by eaxh request. I really dont know what we did to upset her, we did our best to be respectful, put masks on when they were here and be polite because we are never rude to any service provider but it seemed that we should have just not come here and intruded on them at all. I feel bad for the owner who is probably trying to make the best of outdoor dining and the their staff would prefer to not be at work at all.
Heavenly soy protein satay!I was hoping for the vegetarian house special in a pineapple but this was nonetheless yummy with just the chunks of pineapple! The pad thai was good too but I preferred the other two dishes. Good service and pretty outside dining!
Always freshly made wonderful thai favorites. Parking is available in the garage behind, and when the weather is nice the patio is lovely. I keep trying new dishes and loving them. They also have a full vegetarian menu.
Decent Thai food. Tried the exotic beef green curry, yellow curry, lemongrass chicken, fried noodles and Thai iced tea- all tasty. Wish they were more flavorful but I guess this is as good as it gets away from Thailand. Service was quick and the restaurant was packed by dinner time.
Amarin Thai has for many years our favorite restaurant.But we tried it after the Covid shutdown and it was not the same. The pineapple curry didnt come in a fresh half pineapple It was just some pine apple and squash peaces in a sauce. The servers were very unhappy the whole atmospher was unpleasant. May be the place is sold, but I sure hope that the original food comes back again.

We tried a ton of different soup, curries with rice and noodles.Suffice to say, the taste of all the dishes exceeded our expectations.Though they could go easy on there use of lemon in there dishes.
The food is delicious and the service is good. The spicy sweet basil tofu dish from their vegetarian menu is amazing. It makes my mouth water as I type the letters s-p-i-c-y s-w- ...... oh I have some left-overs. The furniture and ceiling tiles need some updating but that can be forgiven for now given the tasty food. The seat cushions need to be firmer. They felt like they had a few too many sittings. The ceiling tiles have seen their days and are getting dark around the vents.
Extremely rude staff, specially person on front desk. Literally forced us to pay for the bill while we were still eating. Couldnt even wait for few mins and without even asking if we need more food bill was kept on the table. It use to be my go-to place when we use to live in mountain view but unfortunately last visited had to be last. If they continue this behavior I am sure this restaurant have to close soon.

Great food, but mediocre service. We went, got a table for 3, ordered, got our soup 5 minutes later (good soup) and then the first dish came out a full 40 minutes later, the second at 50 minutes, and the last at an hour and ten minutes because they were short staffed. They were kind about it and gave us Thai teas.
There are so many things wrong with this place. I don’t know where to begin.1. The water we were served had big obnoxious particles of dirt. It tasted funny to say the least. On asking for the water to be replaced, the servers rudely mentioned that they have only one filter at the restaurant and the water is what it is.2. No one in the staff but one person knew how to speak and comprehend English.3. We ordered a couple of appetizers and a Thai iced tea. The appetizers were both loaded with oil and heaps of sugar. Not very appetizing.4. After we finished eating the small bites we waited 45 minutes for someone to come by and ask about placing our main order and for our previously ordered ice tea to be served. Apparently they forgot to punch in the order.5. At this point we were so frustrated we just wanted to get the check and leave. The check took another 15 minutes to arrive.We wasted 2 hours in this place with terrible service, not so great food and not a single apology. Well below the standards of Mountain View. Appalling.
Good food deceptive pricing. Would recommend the curry. The menu says the curry is $15, but if you have it with rice they charge $4 for rice without clearly saying so on the menu. $4 for a side of rice is a rip-off! I dont mind paying $20 for a meal, but I do mind sleezy tricks and dishonesty.My gf had the pineapple curry and liked it.
Savory vegetarian food options with moderate to huge portion sizes.. The restaurant is clean and has a very nice ambiance and very well suited for a small group of friends.. The table service is not the quickest.. Also, finding a parking spot near the restaurant is simply a pain..
Ordered a spicy dish, but asked for it mild (I like spicy, but was headed for a six hour flight, so I thought I would drop it down a notch). Food was good quality, but zero spice ... which was disappointing. Id come back to try the dish with its intended spice allotment.
I love the food choices here, but the service can be terrible. We had a group of 4 who arrived right after opening on a Sat. to avoid the rush. There was great confusion taking our order and one item was left off and arrived late. Then a man stood and stared at us(literally) as if we were overstaying our allotted time which we were not at all. The only reason he stopped is that I stared back until he walked off. Odd.
The service was very nice! But the food was pricey and getting rice cost extra money. If price is not a concern for you, Ill tell you that it was very tasty and my tummy is very full from the portion size.
Ive been to loads of Thai places during my time on the east-coast and absolutely love the cuisine. I really wanted to like this place due to its prime location and good-natured staff but disappointed that the food let us down.Amongst the food, we ordered the Roti, Thai Samosa, Fried Rice along with Panang Curry. There was oil dripping from the samosa [literally] and while the Roti tasted good, I couldnt just ignore the amount of grease.Again, not all places have the luxury of training their staff to be friendly and customer centric and unintentional lapses can sometimes come off as rude. I felt that the staff in this case was kind and had great intentions but somehow lacked the tools to run a place like this at a prime location like Downtown Mountain View. A simple example would be when we asked for a to-go box, we were handed a plastic box that just wouldnt close and needed a server to help us out.Then again, I still feel Ill get to like this place sometime soon and will be back for a better experience :)
Short version: we had two dishes and both were horribly sweet (it were entrees not desserts) and we were actually unable to eat them. The waiter couldnt have cared less.Long version: the starter was ok (spicy corn cakes), the main courses (green pad thai noodles and eggplant curry) were really sweet in the sense of throat burning sweet. We both were not able to eat any of it despite being really hungry. When we asked for the check the waiter was not even surprised by the full plates. When telling him that unfortunately the food was too sweet he did not say a thing to it. What a pity, the place looked nice from the outside and we were excited seeing the variety of vegetarian food they had. For me a waste of money - bad food and bad service.
Extensive menu options, nice atmosphere and good tasty food.But what spoiled the great experience is the staff, which is not the most pleasant and constantly hurries you up. (Wednesday evening at 8pm when there are some tables available, so cant be due to a line or closing time)
Staff was very unfriendly when ordering and had a hostile attitude. She gave us time but kept on saying we needed to order more when all of us were not very hungry. Had a very demanding attitude and did not make customers feel welcome. Food wss good though at an expensive price but its Castro, what do you really expect?
I ordered my dinner on DoorDash before Amarin Thai’s posted cutoff time; however, my order was canceled by the restaurant after they closed. I didn’t receive notice until an hour later when I was looking to see why it was taking so long. I am incredibly disappointed with how they handled this situation.I want to clarify that I’m sure doordash is full of issues, but the message sent said the restaurant cancelled the order. If they need more time to prepare food before closing for the evening or to have a larger buffer for technical issues, I wish they would state an earlier time in the app.
I have been a patron since 1999. In the recent year, the taste has gone down, the this curry has become watery. Overall decline in taste. This used to be the best Thai place in South Bay for many years, for me and friends. Now its just not what it used to be...
Went there on a Thursday evening with my husband and 18-month old baby. Ordered green curry with chicken and rice. A few morsels and we could tell the food was stale. And sure enough all three of us ended up with the stomach flu that night. Looks like they just reheat stale food and serve it on weekdays. Id keep away from this place if you want to stay fit and fine.

Excellent dishes! Five levels of spice - medium was very fine for us. Well-cooked! Waiters and waitresses were friendly and courteous.
The place is a little shabby but atmosphere and service are great. Portions are very generous - everyone in our group took home enough for another meal. Prices are reasonable, especially for the freshness and quality of the food.

Used to be great place and one of the best Thai restaurants in south bay. It is a shadow of its past and the dishes are nowhere close what they used to be.
Ive been to several thai restaurants in and around the bay area, but something about the flavors here set it apart, its subtle touches such as the flavor of their cashew nut curries, or the wonderful peanut based accompaniment to their roti, that keeps me hooked and coming back.Food may seem to be on the expensive side, but the pricing is relatively normal when compared to other restaurants on castro.
Food was average at best. Tom Yum soup first came o it very bland. Sent it back to the kitchen and they fixed it by putting lots of chili becoming not drinkable. Sent it back and it was acceptable. Thai ice tea was watered down. Service was pretty good.

I was expecting a lot reading all those good reviews. But what a disappointment! The sour & spicy soup with shrimp was just some sour water and was served with a hair in it. The main dish was not much better. I got the red curry duck where the duck had more fat than meat - the taste was OK.
Went on a regular weekday for dinner and had to wait for more than half hour after we ordered food. The crowd was okay, but still only got food after asking the waiter twice. Food was decent, not that special, but just the servcing and wait time was terrible. Not even an apology after we complained. Would never go there again.
Always a solid option with consistent good food good flavors and friendly service. Spacious seating. Be careful asking for making the food Thai spicy because it will be super spicy, be warned.

The food is delicious and the portions large. However, it was not the best pad thai around, so I rated it 2/3.The decor is nice, but it is best to sit outside on a warm day. Also, the service can be a bit slow at times, even when the place is not packed.

But I didn’t find the food worth the buck.The fresh spring rolls weren’t that great. The tofu and the veggies were not holding up and with one bite everything fell apart.Basil friend rice was pretty good.Pad kee mao was okay.

Apart from this the overall quality of food was awesome and the service was also good. Along with it they also helped us by keeping the cake in refrigerator as went to celebrate one of friends birthday. Fried rice, spring roll, pranthey and chutney and special salad was too good but the quantity was less as per price. I am definitely going there again!!

2023-11-03 03:35:54Best Pad Thai Ive ever had. Savory, balanced and the noodles were served hot and tender. Plated nicely and sizable portions. Also had the chicken satay, which was delicious as well. Lastly the spiked Thai Tea was smooth and very tasty. Swan was very personable and friendly, my drink was never empty. 2023-06-01 06:36:54This is part of old school Mountain View on Castro that I enjoy going back to. The service and food is great. The recommendation was so beautiful that I had to bring it back to my family members to share. It helps that after the pandemic, the restaurants allow for Al Fresco dining. It reminds me of Europe.

2023-02-04 06:03:46The food is okay. Not the best Thai food Ive ever had, but the staff is very friendly. Definitely one of the highlights for me and my team. The food came out pretty quick but there was a ten minute delay almost from the first dish coming out to the last. The pad Thai (very basic I know) wasnt special, but hey I still ate it all. Not a place Id especially recommend to friends as a must try but worth a try if youre on Castro street and want some food.
