We had a great time here last night. Delicious food in large enough portions for both of us. We had a large bowl of Ramen, Spicy Garlic Edamame and some Fried Gyoza Dumplings. We also had meatballs with veggies in sweet & sour sauce. The service was fantastic and this might just be one of regular spots going forward as we are eager to come back to try more of their entrees. Perfect spot for anyone looking for authentic Japanese Food!

Great food and atmosphere. Came here with my wife for lunch and were happy to have some good authentic Japanese food.It was a very nice atmosphere with a lot of Japanese, something we appreciate and missed after moving back from Tokyo.We will come back soon! It was delicious!

I went to Aoki No Chuuka on a Thursday evening and was the only person dining in, which felt a little strange. I got the mapo tofu, which is a popular Chinese dish in Japan. It came with a clear broth soup and rice. It was good, but lacking the strong flavor I expect from this dish. The ground pork was also very sparse. Overall I thought the food was just okay. Theres plenty of parking because the restaurant is located in a plaza with other businesses.

Delicious little Chinese/Japanese spot with tasty dishes! The Spicy Garlic Edamame were wonderfully blistered and the sauce was delicious. The Mapo Tofu Ramen was yummy with a slow creeping heat.

This place is great! The food is prepped fast and it comes out hot and so tasty. Authentic Japanese style Chinese food. I love it here and can’t wait to come back. I recommend the fried rice, pan fried gyoza and the subuta. Please try this place!

Not bad! Ive tried quite a few items here including the curry omurice, ramen, cold ramen, etc. Most are good! But I prefer rice dishes here because ramen isnt their specialty.

Small, cozy, AUTHENTIC little Japanese bistro with fantastic, amazingly cooked and presented meals. I had the Pork Cutlet Curry Rice (deep-fried pork cutlet, sliced and placed atop a bed of rice with thick brown curry sauce underneath) which was just as good as my Japanese Moms take on this traditional dish. Great service, as well. Highly-recommended for any Japanese natives living locally but especially for Americans whove lived in Japan and who are wanting a bit of delicious nostalgia.

They have a fairly decent menu for a Chinese style Japanese restaurant. Got gyoza, tenshin han and beef with bell peppers. The portions are enormous. Gyoza was done well, the pepper beef was okay. The tenshin han tasted a little weird, not what I was expecting but overall the food was ok.

I love everything about this joint! The food is excellent. I’m a huge fan of chuuka style and Aoki no Chuuka does not disappoint. Whether it be champon, niraleba, gyutan kare or really anything else, it always hits the spot. The owners are great people and I always look forward to seeing them. I’m not sure if you call a place with younger owners a “mom and pop” shop, but the sense of community invokes it.

This is not the best ramen you will ever have. But its VERY GOOD. I cannot stress this enough. Couple that with very reasonable prices and some fun variety on the menu, and you have an absolute winning combination that honestly turned me into a big fan even on my first trip.If they upped the prices too much Id say go elsewhere, but for now they are at exactly the sweet spot of quality to price ratio. One thing I will say was one of the best Ive ever had was their Takoyaki. Oddly good.Give this place a shot.

I would have given them 5 star, if they didn’t make a mistake on our order today. The food was delicious, but for Our order of Tenshinhan, which should have came with sweet and tangy sauce over egg/rice…. But somehow they gave us chuka-do type not so sweet thick sauce. This was pretty disappointing because we were the first customer of the evening (take out) and the kitchen was not even busy. Subuta and Cha-han, with Wakame soup were all very authentic to Japanese-Chinese dishes.

First visit, very early dinner with daughter so place still empty. Ordered pork cutlet curry and stir fried pork in kimchi. Service was fast and food was well prepared and tasty. Nice surf themed decor. Clean toilets. Price range about 9-12 dollars per person which is very reasonable for the quality and quantity. I would recommend this place.

Keep forgetting to review this place from before the pandemic, but because of how much they upset my wife and i people need to know. We were ignored for a long while after being seated. Had to get our chopsticks from another table. The waitress gave us attitude. Our order was wrong and late. It was so bad other patrons noticed our frustration. It wasnt busy that evening, so no excuse for this terrible service. I am not sure if our ethnicity had anything to do with it but we were definitely being treated differently from the other customers. Also, the food, when it did come, was below expectations. Yakisoba was watery and the gyoza were cold. Not sure if it was a coincidence that the food was cold, nasty and late and the service being terrible were all connected. Dont come here if you look a certain way, as we did feel discriminated for how we looked.

They deserve less than 1 star for the service I received, very disappointed and upset. The two female staff members that were waiting on the restaurant ignored my party (of 2) completely after taking our orders. They never offered to give us any eating utensils, napkins, sauce or water refills so by the time I had to get up for chopsticks from another table our food was already cold. Felt discriminated and deliberately bypassed while the tables around us were waited on continuously and no one noticed we didnt have any utensils to eat with or even a napkin to use. They gave their back to us every moment they were near our table and avoided eye contact when we tried to communicate with them, going as far as walking away from my partner when they attempted to ask for the check.We were never at any moment disrespectful to them so this behavior was uncalled for and upsetting, it turned the whole experience sour.The food was bland to say the least, I had never tasted a more sloppily made yakisoba dish with such sparse proteins. Too salty and watery. The steamed dumplings were basically frozen by the time we finally had a chance to eat them.Worst experience at a Japanese restaurant by far, I have never encountered such rude staff. Saddest meal Ive ever had.Do not reccomend.

I was really looking forward to trying this place. Unfortunately, it wasnt as good as I was expecting. The pictures in the menu looked really good. I ordered an omelet rice with gravy, but it wasnt anything I couldnt make at home. It wasnt bad, but not something I would pay to eat again unless I really didnt feel like cooking at home.

Had the chashu ramen and chashu fried rice. Both are very very good. Definitely ask to add an egg to the ramen. Its very worth it! Even though food was great, service was lacking. There were 3 empty tables and the entire bar area was empty. But nobody would clear the dirty dishes off the table. The two waitresses refilled peoples water, bring people bills, walking around, but would not clean the table and seat us. Another two parties and I waited to be seated for 20 minutes. Love the food, but think they need to improve on service.

Chinese food japanese way. Clientele mostly japanese which tells you it is authentic taste. Dont expect monterey park style chinese. Good value and food comes out quickly. Izakaya foods available.I went there today april 2019. The pork cutlet curry dish was not good. Rice dry, the pork katsu over fried and not soft. Had to ask for a knife to cut in pieces. Would be 2 stars today.

First time having Tenshinhan here. It is a super large portion of gravy, egg, and shrimp over white rice. I enjoyed it and the service was nice as well. Ill have to come back and try the mabo tofu next time.

My absolute favorite place to eat in Costa Mesa. I have enjoyed everything I have ordered from the menu. I highly recommend a chashu bun, mabo tofu, and a pitcher of Sapporo to make an excellent meal.

This place is really good, you cant go wrong with ordering anything off of the menu here, however my favorite item is the tenshinhan, its super good, basically scrambled eggs on top of rice and everything is covered in this thicc soup

Unfortunately the basic chuuka Ramen and Fried Gyoza was NOT delicious at all. Is this really made by Japanese??? Disappointed as you see the photo, Ramen Topping was just barely floating /small amount/egg was COLD / never seen TINY Gyoza like this before. It is obviously NOT hand made.If you are from Japan, ever lived in Japan, you will know what I mean..The staff need more real Japanese OMOTENASHI spirit when you serve your customers.Their service was COLD like the foods.I would never go back here.At this restaurant, the servers and the chef working in the back are unfriendly and dont greet you at all, and the food is still very bad, and the quality of the food is proportional to the people who are making it. Not recommended.

I was fooled by the 5 star rating comment. I cant hide my surprise at the people who said it was delicious. What have you been eating? I tried to find somewhere good, but I couldnt find it. Not really. Maybe the products that my companion and I chose were not good... I had beef tongue curry, my companion had champon, and then gyoza and fried chicken. Maybe even the gyoza and fried chicken arent delicious... My companion had champon, but the ingredients didnt taste good and the soup was bland. I could still eat the curry, but it tasted like it was in a retort package. You can eat Japanese food! Did that expectation make me feel even more hopeless? Even in Japan, I have never had such a disappointing taste. I dont often give it 1 star, but if I could give it 0 stars I would. There are three reasons. First of all, the plates that were served to the customers were missing. The price is high considering the taste and quality. Even if the food isnt delicious, you can make it through customer service with effort. However, the customer service is such that they quickly chase customers away. I can go to any restaurant and feel good, but this is different. I dont know why the store is still open. It makes me sad to think that foreigners will know that this is a Japanese flavor.

When I heard that there is Machi-chuka in America⁇, I went with my friends who are Machi-chuka fans. Very disappointing, Japanese town Chinese is not lost, generally delicious and no less than 80 points. But its not even comparable here, it doesnt even deserve 4 points or even 1 star. Simple, fast, delicious town Chinese is zero. The bad taste that makes me angry even if I remember it. I dont really recommend it to Japanese people, and my American friend was angry that it wasnt good, so who can eat it? Its been a long time since Ive been killed by an American fake fake Japanese food.

Huntington is Aokis Chinese. I learned about it from a YouTuber, but the taste, quantity, customer service, and price are comparable to those in Japan. This is a shop that I want one nearby. I was only able to meet the famous ⁈ shopkeeper for a short time, but he is a very good person. If youre in the area, please stop by, I recommend it.
