Aozora at Danville serves Japanese cuisine of various flavors and style. We ordered Sapporo Beer, Sangria and Masumi Arabashiri for drinks, Avacado Maki and Karaage for Starters; and the main course was Jidori Chicken Dinner Plate, Inari Nigiri, Chef’s Assorted Sashimi and Tempura served with pickled ginger. The entire meal was fresh, well cooked, authentic and delicious. A pleasure to dine there.

I wanna start things off by saying almost all of the food was excellent! Sushi was clearly higher quality than other similar sushi restaurants in the area. We had a spider roll, Baja California roll, evil roll, hamachi, tempura, edamame, chicken karaage(!!!!), and a few others. The only food item I wasn’t crazy about was the card because it was a bit fishy. Otherwise everything was excellent.However this place is severely understaffed. We sat here and ate for almost 3 hours. The food came out as such a bizarre pace, we had the main entrees before anything else.However that said I do want to come back once they have worked out the kinks

Great Japanese restaurant in Danvilles Livery. We like that we can make reservations at this restaurant especially on a weekend when its quite busy. It has a fair amount of seating inside the restaurant as well as outdoors with a few portable heaters.The staff is courteous and attentive despite it being a busy night when we were there.Food was delicious and we were served very quickly. I was amazed at how quickly everything was prepared. We had several sushi rolls, Salmon dinner, and Okonomiyaki (prawn and cabbage pancake). All the rolls and salmon dinner were great! The Okonomiyaki could be better; it was just too doughy for me.Overall, the experience was good.

Delicious!! Great staff ! We stuck to small plates and sushi. Sushi was a bit backed up but no worries small plates came out quickly and were tasty. Sushi was also great and kinda worked as a finisher. Honestly they could have earned a 5 Star If the service was better. The food was excellent. Sushi ripe are delicious. Stars of the show were Karagi chicken, and miso black cod.Service really lacked. I’m assuming the waiter was new….☹️

We received a gift card for this place and went in with zero knowledge. The spicy garlic edamame was a welcome surprise and def worth to get. I think every single drink is overpriced and its better to get another sushi roll that might even be cheaper. The fish was super good and all the rolls while a bit pricey were very tasty. Hot tea is $2 a person, not on the menu? The fire warming stations outside are nice and fun. Our waiter was fine, the waitstaff were great. I would only come back with another giftcard as this price per roll is high. But i did enjoy my time.

We came for my brothers birthday and had a great time. We dined outside, had delicious drinks and the food was outstanding. Also enjoyed the music selection that played. Overall, just a really great dining experience!

We went in with high hopes but came out with deep disappointment. The sushi was below average, other dishes were either stale or flavorless or just cooked bad. Server was nice but condescending at the same time (weird!).This isn’t your regular strip mall sushi joint prices either. So naturally we expected great food. That made the disappointment that much worse.Advice to the owners…you have a great place, awesome location and an impressive array of solid reviews…take a step into the kitchen, ensure food is consistently of high quality. Otherwise, more experiences like ours.Here’s hoping you will change for the good - this area can use a high quality Japanese joint.

Amazing food, great service, even gave our compliments to the chef. The sashimi was excellent quality and expertly cut. Highly recommend the spicy garlic edamame as a side. Overall, would definitely go back and enjoy again.

It was a very pleasant experience for us! We drove to that place specifically because of its rating, and the food turned out to be delicious. If you don’t want to wait for your order during the rush hours, I would recommend arriving at 5 pm. We were the only one at the place for some time.

I would really like to give the place 5 stars as the food is superb .. service however is questionable.The manager is curt and basically “ I don’t care “ attitude. My husband and I walked in at 5 intending to leave by 6. The place was empty albeit reservations for later in the evening. The manager insisted that we sat in the middle of the restaurant on a cramped up 2 seater table despite me mentioning that we were going to leave by 6.. the staff and manager would not budge on letting us seat elsewhere.. end result we ended up leaving without dining and gave business to a restaurant that was more accommodating.

Ordered takeout for my virtual holiday party and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and freshness of the fish. We tried the spicy garlic edamame and karage chicken and both great. And the tempura was excellent considering it was takeout and not really warm when we had it. The tempura was still crispy. We will definitely be back again!

How did I not know about this place??I received a gift card to Aozora from my family in Austin, TX for my birthday. They asked if I ever heard of this restaurant (Ive been eating out in Danville for years...) and I was like, Nope. They hoped it was good.Its, outside of NYC, the best sushi restaurant Ive ever been to. Replaced my favorite CA one in Carmel-by-the-Sea and my previous Danville favorite, Taro. And Taro is amazing. Yos is also amazing but I dont consider them a sushi restaurant per se.Anyway, I dare you to find fresher fish. For me, thats the key.Prices are typical Danville, but if youre going to pay typical Danville prices, you might as well have the best!The atmosphere is great. The restaurant is appropriately stylish. So is the presentation of dishes.And make sure you sample from the best sake menu Ive found in Danville, as well. Oh, and the bartender is attentive, fun, and cares about your experience. Shout out, Curtis.Enjoy!

We used to come here all the time. I love the quality of their food but the service here was never good. (Theyre usually reluctant to even give recommendations. )Recently we had one of our worst experiences there since they were super busy the waiter wasnt attending to our requests at all. We got a wrong order, and they were incredibly slow and unapologetic.I was finally able to ask our waiter to give us the check and after I gave the credit card, he simply never came back to us.20 mins later, I had to go to another table and ask him about my credit card. He didnt care much and rudely responded that he is busy with so many tables .Last attempt to make sense of things: I asked for their general manager (Ryan) and he explained to me that he was holding to my card.Terrible reactions, not even sorry at any point.Im changing my rating from 5 to 1.

We recently dined at this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The menu consist of small plates and full menus. And a large selection of sushi and sashimi. We ordered tempura for the three of us as a starter. It was a mix of prawns and vegetables very light and done perfect. One guest had short ribs that came with the coleslaw from the small plate. The portion was very generous didn’t need any more. My husband had pork cutlets very generous portion again it came with Miso soup and coleslaw. The third guest had salmon two generous pieces she said they were marinated and cooked as she had requestedNone of us had sushi or sashimi but will give it a go on a return trip. I would highly recommend this restaurant it is new and well worth going to. And during this pandemic it’s nice to support a new place.

Weve been here twice, and everything we had was delicious. The fish is wonderfully fresh, and simple as it is, the miso soup is particularly good. Definitely try the matcha cake for dessert.

I felt they were very attentive to my party and the food was good in my opinion. My in laws werent impressed however, but I think that was mainly to do with not favoring sashimi. My wife and kids enjoyed themselves.

Its been on my todo list to try Aozora, and I finally got around to it tonight. Im glad I did. I started with an Old Fashioned made with a Japanese whiskey the waiter recommended, which was made perfectly. Then I had okonomiyaki, salmon sashimi, and a red dragon roll. I was intrigued by the okonomiyaki. Im no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I discovered this dish on a trip to Tokyo a few years ago. Its very common there. There are two styles- Hiroshima style and Osaka style. Aozora has the Osaka style and my preference, from my limited experience in Tokyo, was the Hiroshima style. But not many restaurants in the US carry this dish, in either style. The few I have found in the Bay Area have not been that good. I will say it was DELICIOUS at Aozora and perfectly just like what I had in Tokyo. I dont know if a Hiroshima style would be any better, because this was so good (for anyone going to Tokyo- try Tepan Baby in Shinjuku!). Then the sashimi was just right- very fresh and expertly prepared. The red dragon roll was also very fresh and tasty. The staff was helpful, friendly and outgoing- even bringing me a free extra dish after my meal (jalapeno hamachi which was also very tasty). The staff really made me feel like a welcome guest there.For years Ive been going to another popular sushi place in Dublin. The food at Aozora is at least as good as this one, and the overall experience was much better. For sure this is going to be my new go-to sushi spot, and Im looking forward to trying some more dishes and rolls with my family (I hope the beef is as good as everything else). Highly recommended!

The food was good, but not spectacular, which would be expected for the prices. I would have considered 4 stars, had the service been at least attentive, but we had a reservation and then sat for 30 min at our table before our drinks arrived. Our waiter forgot to bring two food items we ordered and then we felt rushed out when it was time to pay the bill. I don’t think we’ll be back anytime soon.

This is the best Sushi place in the Bay Area, it is beautiful inside, beautiful outside and the food is amazing. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Great food and great atmosphere. Food tasted great and it may be pricey but its what to expect, especially since I believe its harder to acquire ingredients and its hard to stay in business during this time so the restaurant would have to probably increase prices just to stay in business. Either way I am definitely going back. I love this place. Gotta support your local business.

Picked up an order of chirashi (sashimi over rice) the fish was really fresh and in generous portions. Went really well with the house-made pickled cucumbers and ginger. This is my sushi spot in Danville. Friendly staff. Intimate and relaxing ambience inside and out with several outdoor dining tables. Very open area nestled in trees.

Wow this is a total package place. Amazing food amazing drinks amazing staff. Expansive options on drinks. We got some gyoza and some different sushi dishes. The Toro just melts in your mouth and I dont even remember all the names of the rolls we got, I wasnt in charge of that decision tonight but they were bomb. And again anything Toro just melts in your mouth so get it.Drink wise you got a full sake menu then you also have a nice selection of beer/wine foreign and domestic and not just your typical sapporo and kirrin beers. Im talking Japanese ipa, herbal beer and a few others. Really nice spirits selection with nice Japanese whiskeys and I think some Japanese rum and maybe even vodka. Then you got true mixologist/bartenders piloting this ship and creating seriously craft cocktails. We could tell our bartender Arthur loves what he does and does it to perfection. He made some absolutely impressive drinks and he was totally full of positive vibes/energy. Next time we go we wont forget to update this with pictures of everything we got. Cant wait to go again.
