I am never disappointed when I order food from Appus Cafe. I have tried almost everything on the menu and found it to be delicious, a good value for the price, and always ready on-time when I order online. The staff is kind and pleasant and very accomodating (sometimes I need to ask for the spice level to go down a few levels!). Excellent value all the way around!

Delicious innovative food in a medical office building. Its a nice medcial building, but well its all medical with a few dentists and labs... so I usually do takeaway. They have a nearby restaurant too. Excellent food with better atmosphere. That would have 5 stars...

I just cant say enough. We love the food and the owner and other guy there too. The food is amazing and the 2 people there are SO dang nice. The food is fresh and made from the heart with care and love put into the food. My husband does not like trying different foods but we went back 2 days in a row and he ordered the Docs burrito. He LOVED it twice in a row now. I just cant say enough, just try it.

We ordered 5 things and only one of them was edible, hence 1 star. Im flummoxed by the other good reviews. The terrible tacos were surpassed only by the terrible burrito. The soup is better described as water. Im a healthy eater but this gives vegan food a very bad name. We got take out, otherwise I would have asked for my money back.

This is place is so good! Healthy vegan and vegetarian options. Im so excited I found it! You must try it. The location is hidden behind a medical building and theres no dining in options but theres a small patio. I would recommend ordering online. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Will be returning for sure.

Friendly owners, great menu and fresh ingredients! Hope to come back to try more of their food. This time I ordered the vegan Maharani burrito which was good, but the main ingredient was turmeric rice -- I prefer when theres a balance between rice and the other ingredients so Ill try the Healthy Mex burrito next time which supposedly is prepared with less rice.

Came here out of curiosity and it did not disappoint. It’s sort of a hole-in-the-wall type of place. I got the mushroom masala and a chai. Both super duper tasty. I couldn’t stop eating once I took a bite. The price is a bit expensive (I assume bc it’s vegan) but totally worth it.

This is one of the best Indian restaurants Ive ever been to. Ive eaten at Indian homes and businesses all over the west coast and this is incredible. So many vegan options that taste better than most dishes with dairy elsewhere. Their prices cant be beaten, especially for the quality. To top it off, their service is spotless and they are so friendly. This is a new staple in my life.

Very delicious and affordable! I really recommend Appus. Yes it is in a medical office building, but it is worth seeking out this gem. The burger was a delicious twist on the formula, not like your standard veggie burger, full of great flavor and smooth consistency. The side Salas was fresh and equally full of flavor. The mango Lassi also was a delight. Service was friendly and attentive, outdoor seating is spare but nice. Eat here, you wont regret it!

This place is such a hidden gem and my new favorite restaurant. I’ve had a lot of Indian food in my life and this was the most flavorful and definitely one of the best. I got the samosa chat and an Indian burrito and it was so amazing. The people were really nice as well. Definitely coming back here as often as I can.

We stopped here after two weeks working out in the Channel Islands eating mostly processed foods and wow, what a treat! So much flavor packed into the dishes. We had the mushroom masala and maharaja burrito and thoroughly enjoyed the healthiness and homemade quality of the food. The masala tastes like it could cure covid—rich and reviving. The mango lassi is spectacular! Thank you, Appu’s, for the very friendly service and a wonderful meal.

Best Indian burrito I’ve ever had. So light and fresh! I could smell Indian food when I opened the door. Made me smile.The little cafe is so friendly and inviting.They even waited to make the chai tea until I got there for pick up so it would be nice and hot. VR the owner/chef went out of his way to explain the preparation methods he practices and its evident in the quality and taste of his masterpiece menu . He is passionate not only in the food he serves but the ultimate health benefits. where do you find this in a restaurant but Appus Cafe. The place is hidden behind a building (hole-in-the wall place) and I had some trouble locating it. The lady doing the customer service and cooking is very friendly and helpful. I tried the Rice bowls with different type of soups and it tasted good. Not very authentic, but good. It was not very expensive either. Tried the lemongrass chai too, which was great. They serve only vegetarian (including eggs). It was not crowded at all, I did go around 2 PM. Very Impressed and will definitely be returning back, and trying the other items on the menu like the Maharaja Burrito.

Ive been Vegan for a few months and its hard to fund and good food on the go but this place was great. I got the veggie burger, salad and yellow curry soup for lunch and it was hands down the best lunch I have had in a long time. I washed it down with a lemongrass tea that married with the spices of my lunch so well I had a very happy tummy. I will definitely go back with some friends in the future.

Their food is delicious and they use mostly organic ingredients in their salads. Some of the best salads I have ever had - especially Avocado Black bean, always hits the spot for me and I am NOT hungry afterwards which is rare for me with salads. Their breakfast burrito is fantastic. Everything is vegetarian and most of it can be made vegan upon request. Very friendly staff, its always a good experience coming here!

V.R. and his staff are amazing. Made us feel so very welcome from the moment we arrived. And the food... ah the food is glorious... so flavorful and yet so very healthy. We were looking for a place that served vegan food that was located half way between LA and San Juan Capistrano. After speaking to VR on the phone, we decided to take a chance on this decidedly low key place located in the back of a medical building in an unhip part of Long Beach. What ensued was a memorable experience with phenomenal food and exceptional service. If you are looking for fancy atmosphere, this is not the place for you but if you are looking for terrific food and warm and welcoming service, you are at the right place. If you are there on a Saturday, ask VR to tell you some of his story. You will be amazed.

I have tried several food items, and they were all delicious. The flavors are very unique. The rice, Black Bean Avocado Salad, and Maharaja Burrito are especially good. My two-year-old and four-year-old especially like the rice. My least favorite item so far is the Taco Salad because it was overly citrusy, but I would even order that again.They get busy around lunch time, so call ahead.

Appu’s is a go-to favorite of ours. Flavorful, vegetable-heavy food with great service. Some of our top menu items: lemongrass chai, paratha (flat bread), paneer tikka masala tacos or entree, eggplant panini, maharaja burrito, mushroom soup, samosa chat, and the bahji pav (Bombay vegetables). Be aware some dishes are spicy for the unsuspecting (somosa chat and bahji pav). A great vegan/vegetarian option and a locally owned business we feel really good about supporting.

Appu is title, not a name. This lunch counter is great. It is run by a doctor in this building. He there, promoting vegan cooking and is really excited and helpful. Im not the vegan in our crew, but I am the one suggesting Appus. Try his avocado and black bean salad, or any of his burritos or soups. Portions are good, so be careful when he enthusiastically suggests a second dish to try.

Is Appus Café delicious or poo-poo? Lets see, shall we?Located at the back of the Woodruff Medical Doctors Offices building, Appus Café is a small eatery serving vegetarian & vegan food.Interestingly, eggs are also on the menu. Eggs are vegetarian? Really? Being an omnivore myself, seeing eggs on the menu is A-OK with me. The healthy fat & cholesterol make eggs a super healthy food to eat. Forget about eating egg white only omelets and such. The nutrition is missing when the yolks removed. Fat, is where its at!Lunch buffet, served from 11am - 4pm, is NOT a buffet. Lunch buffet = 2 item tray which is not all you can eat, for $7+. It consists of biryani rice (with choice of soup poured on top), vegetables & 2 soup items. Considering the buffet would be the best method in trying several options, I went with yellow daal on top of my biryani rice, with mushroom soup & saag paneer as my items.The rice was fluffy & light. Of the soup, my favorite was the mushroom, which had great flavor & the mushrooms were cooked correctly. Surprisingly, everything lacked heat. Good for Appus, the woman working the kitchen had various hot sauces at the ready. After a liberal dousing of Cholula, my meal improved. Finishing my meal within a few minutes, I enjoyed it, but it wasnt satiating for me. For about the same price, I can hit up a lunch buffet at Little India. Put it this way - after leaving, I directly went to Blue Agave Mexican Grill in Artesia for Taco Tuesday. I left Appus Café having the lunch buffet still hungry, which isnt good.If you want a complimentary cup of water, itll come by way of sink.Appus menu includes oatmeal, sandwiches, quesadillas, waffles & burritos, like the Maharaja burrito. Eggplant parmesan & pasta dishes are also available.Service was good. The woman working behind the counter was friendly. For a fast casual place, payment was after completion of my meal. Stools are available to sit for a quick meal, Appus is not a place for groups. A few outdoor tables by the parking lot to dine al fresco. Just park in the back of the office building and look for the tables & signage to find your way.I feel bad not giving Appus Café a higher rating, but buffet means all you can eat! What I got was less than what Id get at Panda Express. The mushroom soup was very good, and apropos for the cold weather weve been experiencing. Perhaps, trying the Maharaja burrito will facilitate my having a better view of Appus, but I left disappointed after having lunch here.
