You will know when youre passing this bakery, the smell that resignates in the air while passing by, and the line formation you see as people start to grab their lunch or breakfast to the checkout line. The buzzing cars and people chatting inside waiting and just the smiles on their face as they are about to devour the best bite of sourdough for the day, ahh, what a great store to be in Suck a lovely treat.

Loved the espresso drinks here. Great vegan option too. Friendly fast service. We love to support local business when we vacation, and this worker-owned co-op was a hidden gem. We also loved our vegan lemon poppyseed muffins with the unique over flowing tops, with crunchy edges....yum. (4/20/24)

Eh, their pastries are ok. The pizzas actually smelled really good and it looks like they change their lineup daily? Wish I had saved some space in my stomach for it. Might come back another time. The pastries are your run-of-the-mill kind of fluffy, sweet treats though. You can buy them elsewhere.Spot also gets pretty busy so expect a line!

I’ve been coming to Arizmendi’s for a while now and it never fails to disappoint. The food is always delicious, and the people are friendly. You can’t beat their prices, and it’s nice to support a co-op too.My favorites are their focaccia and pizza (which is made fresh). The coffee is also fantastic. Do yourself a favor and swing by.

My review is mainly for the pizzas. They have a daily take-n-bake which I enjoy. I appreciate that it also provides plenty of leftovers for a single or couple. The pizzas typically are less saucy and more white, and they are often topped with things like figs, asparagus, and leek. I have probably tried about 7 different pies and they were all solid. Ive also tried the cookies, and I liked them well enough to buy again when the mood hits. I bought the granola once too, but it didnt really do it for me. This location has some spots to sit inside and out, but seating is limited and it can get a little busy. Parking isnt impossible, but Ive learned not to bank on it.

I tried several things, so I’ll break it down by item and give individual ratings. The 4/5 stars is overall but the true rating is 3.7/5.Pizza slice: (2.5/5) nothing exceptional about it. Weird paring of what looked like pickles and cheese. Bold but not my taste.Iced Mexican Mocha: (1/5) this just comes down to personal taste. I could tell I would like their regular coffee but they put cayenne or some other chili powder in this. Another bold choice that just didn’t work for me. Too much pepper overrode any other taste in the drink.Peanut butter cookie (4/5): not overly thick or peanut buttery. You can still tell you’re eating a cookie and the salt adds a nice balance to the sweet and richness.Chocolate chip cookie: (4.5/5) damn good cookie. Great crunchy texture on the outside, chewy on the inside. The salt again adds nice balance to the sweet and richness of the chocolate. If it was fresh out of the oven I could see it being a 5/5.Will come back again to try a different pizza slice (only one option per day) and a different coffee.

This hole in the wall of a bakery in the Mission has some of the best pizza and pastries I’ve had in a while. There were a ton of different vegan options as well. The pizza here changed every day and the combinations are some of the most inventive I’ve had. When I came, the pizza of the day had tomatoes, Arugula, queso fresco, mozzarella, and salsa verde and it was delicious. The pizza slices are pretty hot when you get them but they’re so so good. There’s a huge list of pastries you could get and it’s fun to sample a bunch of them with friends or family. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for pizza and/or baked goods.

Its in a terrible location, and they open and close other locations whenever they feel like it, always undergoing renovations. Their pizzas are good, but they sell them whenever they want. They love telling customers theyre out of stock! I dont understand how a business like this survives!

Pizza slice was fire! Ratatouille style pizza with veggies. They have red pepper flakes. It was something like $3.75 for a large slice, note that they do charge a fee for credit card under $10. All the baked goods looked great but didn’t get one. They have a bathroom and indoor and outdoor bench seats!

A great and popular and long-lasting, worker-owned bakery that offers a wide selection of delicious baked goods, drinks, and pizzas. They have a small selection of wheat free items and a few more vegan items. Everything I’ve tried has been pretty good so I always like coming back for more.

They have a rotating pizza and sourdough menu that changes each day! Tried the mushroom pizza today and it delicious. Their savory items are sourdough based and it has a unique taste. Tried the tomato cheese Focaccia, cheese roll, Wolverine roll and raspberry mufffin - Oh my! Each item was fresh and soooo good. The staff are super friendly and service is great as well. There is seating space outside and there are tables for dine in as well. I just can’t stop raving about their baked goods. I would definitely recommend this place for pizza and baked goods.

Cool & trendy, but most importantly delicious coffee/Bakery joint. My man helping me out recommended the pecan roll and he nailed it! Holy smokes it was better than any cinnamon roll you will find out there. Latte was excellent and perfectly made. There was also a man-made cool chic area to wait or enjoy your purchase right outside. I will definately come back anytime i am in the City

I was walking by and stopped for the incredible smell. I said “whatever I’m smelling is what I want.” It was the pizza. I went to a Michelin star restaurant during my SF trip and if I had to pick which to have one again, it would be this pizza slice. Roasted brussel sprouts, red onion, toasted walnut, goat cheese, mozzarella, and balsamic vinaigrette. It was heavenly. 😍

Love this bakery - it’s one of my favourite places to go every weekend. I always get a slice of their pizza of the day - probably one of the best things you can get in the mission for under $3. It has interesting and tasty toppings and a crunchy yet soft inside sourdough crust.I want to try literally ALL their other baked goods, which often vary by day. Last Sunday I had the blueberry snail which was lovely. I couldn’t wait to bite into it so unfortunately it is half eaten in my photo.It has a nice cosy, community feeling and the staff always seem like the kindest people yet very efficient at serving customers.

Fantastic cooperative bakery. A different tasty pizza. They usually update the menu on their website. They also have specials on different days of the week, and a fresh fruit scone that changes based on whatever is available.If you want something very traditional, the chocolate chip cookies are buttery and a bit chewy, with big hunks of dark chocolate. And the baguette pieces are a steal at 75 cents, and the perfect size for a small sandwich.

This is a great branch of Arizmendi in SF - far away from the busy areas of the city. This place has the outdoor seating and allow indoor dining again! Im from South Florida and Ive never seen a bakery like this there. I loved the feeling I had the moment I walked in and already want to repeat it. My wife enjoyed the coffee thoroughly as I did the baked goods. We sampled a lot. Lol It was great treats and we would definitely return the next time we make it to the west coast.

I dont live in the Mission anymore, but I try to stop by at least once a year for their pizza of the day.I forgot to pre-order pie from my usual spot in the South Bay and I was running errands in the city. Decided to come by here after dinner at Barzotto. We grabbed whatever was left in the pastry baskets that looked tasty. The standout is the cookie (forgot which one we got). If you’re like me you really appreciate the simplicity of In-n-out because it’s menu doesn’t intend to put you in a state of analysis-paralysis. For the same reason I appreciate arizmendi too. On my hunt for a perfect plain croissant in SF, I have come to this bakery. They have a large selection of baked goods - lots of different scones, bread, etc. The plain croissant did disappoint me - didn’t taste like croissant at all (not enough fluffiness and air). I highly recommend the raspberry millet muffin and the chocolate chip cookie. Im picky about pastries (I didn’t like most of Tartine’s). They nailed these two items. I liked the hibiscus shortbread too but a bit too floral for me, so if there’s another shortbread flavor or if you like hibiscus I highly recommend it too. The oat scone was very hearty and thick, which I enjoyed but it’s definitely not a typical scone texture. I will have it with black tea. The okay thing I didn’t like was the bran muffin which was a little too tough and I didn’t like the raisins but that’s a personal preference. Overall I highly recommend this bakery and trying out a variety of things, but especially the raspberry millet muffin (like a crunchy berry corn muffin) and the chocolate chip cookie (not too sweet, just right).

The wait at Barzotto next door was much too long so we ventured here for a quick snack. The cookies we got were beautiful and delicious. Mine was mint chocolate and more than enough to tide me over past a disappointing dinner. I would go back here and would definitely recommend you do the same. Absolutely give this place a try if youre having a poor time at Barzotto, though do be aware this is a bakery so they close earlier than a restaurant would (I think 7).

Awesome staff, and still very reasonable prices, despite the minor increase to the cost of cookies and pizza just prior to the start of the pandemic. Some of the pizza toppings are a bit unusual for my taste, but they have some pretty delicious combinations on occasion also. Their peanut butter, and chocolate chip cookies are good, but I think the molasses ginger are probably my favorites. There are also some excellent muffins and scones.

Its not cheap but its the same price you might find for a bakery loaf at a grocery store, so just come here. Everything Ive ever bought here was fantastic.I come here all the time for pizza -- they have a daily special, always vegetarian, and they heat it up right when you order it. They even have salads and a small refrigerator with snacks like olives and drinks.The best part, though, is how great the customer service is! Every time I go there, no matter whos behind the counter, they seem genuinely excited to see me and to give me whatever I ordered. Like, to the point that I want to work here. Great bakery with lots of baked goods in the menu. I ordered a cheese stick and an oat scone. I loved both. They also have coffee and other drinks. I ordered cortado and it was very good. Was telling my friend about this place and how great their Pizza is! I usually walk past this bakery on the way to a coffee shop and grab a few slices to enjoy outside on the parklet. To be honest I havent tried their baked goods yet, but have had their Pizza about 10 or so times now. 9 out of 10 have been great. The Pizza of the Day is usually a combo of fresh veggie and cheeses with some sort of rub or sauce. Of course their dough is tasty, give it a try!

One of the best bakeries in the city. Instead of just providing standard french stuff, they experiment with many types of sourdough bread with many types of fillings. Also great pizza, cookies etc.Try the vegan chocolate mint cookie, it is addictive. Good place to stop in for a carb-fix. The pizzas are the highlight - always fresh and tasty. The bread/muffin/scone/cookie selection always looks great and has some interesting items, but Ive always felt the stuff Ive got doesnt taste quite as excited as it looks or sounds. One of the best bakeries ever! A visit to San Francisco is incomplete without at least one morning goodies raid to Arizmendi and then coming back later for their pizza of the week for lunch. Highly recommended. Locals swear by it, coffee and music are good too. I was a regular for several years and always drop by when in San Francisco.

Im big fan of Arizmendi Bakery/Cheese board. It is the only place to get a good scone in the city (Ive tried about a dozen other places). If youre in the neighborhood, its worth stopping in to see what the pizza of the day is. When we went it was a three onion pizza with goat cheese and sun dried tomato pesto. Phenomenal. One of the best pizzas Ive ever had.

So I come here about 3 or 4 times a week. I love the variety of pizza flavors. They are always inspired and get me to think about flavors in new ways. Standouts for me are anything with corn, mushrooms, and the heavenly balsamic vinaigrette. But Ill eat whatever they are serving.For a snack, the X-roll is delicious, especially when the cheese has spilled over and baked into a crispy frico. Yum!A couple months ago they started serving croissants 3 days a week and my croissant-consumption has increased by about 1000%. Life is definitely good.If you can get to the bakery before 11 am, try the special breakfast focaccia and snag a day-old light bake pizza from the fridge (only $10!). I stock up on these so I can get my pizza fix on Tuesday, a.k.a. the worst day (when Arizmendi is closed).

Everyone wins if you get pizza from Arizmendis cause you get affordable, very delicious pizza and the workers are supported because they are a co-op. They sell their pizzas by the slice, half pizza or full pizza. Their ingredients always taste super fresh whether it is the cheese or the random produced used on the pizza of the day. Also did I mention that the crust is sourdough? Very delicious indeed.They have great baked goods and very tasty coffee, including a decent de-caf. They have some salads too. For one thing, I know their staff is efficient and the line moves fast; for another, its worth the little wait. Their marquee has faded and the parklet is littered with random graffiti and reeks of urine. Unfortunately, their food has also taken a turn for the worse. This morning my oat scone was too sweet, hard as a rock and dry as a bone. Last week, I ordered a blueberry vegan muffin, which I had to feed to the birds because it literally tasted like sweet saw dust.There are never enough workers in the bakery anymore. Perhaps, this is a prime factor in the downgrade. Whatever is causing this, I hope they improve and survive.

The people are REALLY cool, but the pizza not so much. If they weren’t so cool, I’d prolly give this 2 stars. The pizza just didn’t taste fresh or hot and the crust just wasn’t good (maybe they don’t stay fully staffed or something. Not sure). Do NOT recommend. This won’t happen to you at Lakeshore Arizmendi or maybe even Emeryville. I would not go back to the Valencia spot again and will stick to the fresh baked pizza experience in Oakland. I’ve never been disappointed in the quality there.

I love both this location and the one in the inner sunset. The pastries are to die for -especially the pecan roll. The key to the pecan roll is warming it up in your oven before you eat it. The staff is always very nice and yes theres usually a line but it moves quickly. So, if youre going, get on board with deciding on your treats and dont be the one that slows down the line.

This is what more cities should have, a local bakery that offers various foods that changes often. They have a daily pizza that is imaginative and tasty. I would go there daily just to see what they come up with. But they have so many baked goods to try you can get one of each and eat well for a week.But what I had to buy there was a Thai tea cookie and wow was it good. It was the taste of Thai tea in a cookie. Crispy but not too dry it was fantastic and I wish I could have got a dozen of them but they were down to a few when I was there.

I am a costumer at Arizmendi for years but recently I have experienced some changes in the quality of their bread. First, some days the bread I buy is much smaller than the size they used to be and today I bought a Kalamata bread that almost had no Olives in it. Is this a post pandemic way to not increase price but make the ends meet? On my visit today I noticed a man who was ahead of me picking (choosing) his muffins using his bare hands. Now at the Valencia location, you can choose your products and go to the cashier to pay for and people are not using the sleeves provided. I mentioned that to the cashier but I am not sure I was heard.

Delicious baked goods from a local worker cooperative. Part of a small group of co-ops started in Berkeley and selling yummy baking including vegi pizza. My personal favorites are the corn cherry scones and the English muffins. I always take people here when Im trying to show off. Its more expensive than some other places, but its really great, and much better than other local options near by, although the Now Valley Bakery up the hill on twenty forth is quite nice too, this one still gets the prize!

Last time I bought some bread here it was tough to chew and I wasnt pleased. I came back here many months or year later and their sour dough baguette has definitely improved and its tasty. Theres always a line here and it moves kinda slow so you need to have a bit of patience. The other day we had a blackout in the neighborhood and it affected their bakery schedule. Arizmendi is a fantastic little bakery that churns out a bunch of great bread, pastries, and, of course, pizza. I went to pick some bread up on a Saturday for a house party, and we selected the wolverine loaf (which was kind of like a harvest bread with dried fruit) and the apple sage sourdough loaf (lots of dried apples along with the classic Thanksgiving herb). We also got two sesame/sunflower seed rolls, and of course, I had to try a slice of the pizza of the day, which was a three mushroom, ginger vinaigrette.

I know many Arizmendi fans….but I don’t seem to get the magic. I have visited both of their locations – the sunset and the mission. Both stores are crazy busy with people coming for grab and go pastry/pizza. Had the chocolate things pastry, dry farmed tomatoes pizza, and, spinach, feta cheese, garlic oil pizza. The pastry was pretty much 95% bread with a little chocolate chips. Pizza were thick with lots of bread, little topping, and lots of oil. Hopefully youre not behind someone with 20 pastries and a faulty memory because the staff will then make them take everything out and show them what they picked up which OMG could have been done quickly by the staff originally and would have avoided the two line/crowd system. Im still coming here every week, I just wish a cashier was forced to use the queueing system to see how much better organized it could be.

Pizza was not bad, but I didnt realize they only have one pizza option per day. While it wasnt bad, my mushroom and leeks pizza was a no-sauce pizza, which was different than the red-sauce pizza I was expecting. Ill have to come back on a day where they are serving red-sauce pizza.

30 years from now, Im going to be diagnosed with adult onset diabetes. The doctor will ask, whats your diet like? and Ill respond sheepishly, lots of veggies and fruit, lean protein, no added sugars, and about a dozen Chocolate Things from Arizmendi every week.Hell kindly suggest I stop eating the Chocolate Things; Ill ask him to recommend a new doctor, and Ill regret nothing.
