I was overly surprised by the high quality dinner received with such a competitive price. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Cruz. The quality ingredients were better than I’ve had for awhile from a smaller place like this one and I was delighted with the balanced flavors with every bite! Service was pleasant and professional. I got the falafel wrap. It was sizable and absolutely delicious! Below is a picture of a plate and as you can see the portions are sizable. Highly recommend this restaurant! Quick, affordable, highly authentic and exceptionally delicious!

It was amazingly awesome, I had the beef and lamb plate with a side of falafel and an a delicious desert that I dont remember the name of. The staff was extremely friendly and it was just a good time. Large portion size, I was very impressed. I even had to get a to go tray

Me and my family are Turkish, and ironically our last name is Arslan so seeing the name we decided to check it out. Seriously was not expecting it to be as amazing as it was. Almost as good Döner as the ones sold in Ankara, which I do not say lightly. Dolma was immaculate as well. Everyone was nice and its a nice place too!

Everything is great, but the pricing is definitely very high for the amount of food you get. If they could reduce their prices to $12 for a wrap instead of $15, and $16 for a plate instead of $20, it would be much more fair and theyd get much more business.If you get a side, youre easily spending $20-25/person. If you get a drink too, you will spend $25-30 per person, easily.I assume they have very high rent, and thats why the menu is so pricey. Its still more than other counter service, fast-casual style restaurants in the area, though.Food is really good, 5 stars, but the price on Google should be two or three dollar signs, not one dollar sign.

So, we happened by as where were going was packed. This place was empty, and probably for a reason. The food was very edible, fresh and seemingly good quality. However, it was uninspired, not very seasoned and just something to eat. The meat, beef/lamb was dry, the pita was not cooked through and the creamy yogurt sauce desperately needed salt. The Istanbul salad was just ok, and I used it with the meat for moisture. The Coban salad side actually turend out to be the star along with the red chili sauce. The gal taking our order was not friendly, did seem to care that were were there and kept nagging at the two cooks. That atmosphere too was dry and unseasoned. No art, no music, nothing that suggested Turkish culture. After eating we left feeling, eh... Well, it was something different. Unfortunately, I feel no need to return, nor did the staff ever try making us feel good about being there. I know they are new, but Santa Cruz has many more delights to choose from.

Compared to the prices of nearby more expensive eateries in the tourist trap that is Downtown Santa Cruz, $25 for a Chicken Doner plate was a pretty much acceptable fare. The plate came with pita bread, urugula salad and bulgur on the side as seen in the attached photo.My main complaint with the chicken itself was that it was EXTREMELY salty. I hate to break into hyperbole but it felt like that my Chicken Doner had way more sodium in it than the entirety of the Dead Sea! If the restaurant owner is reading this, kindly take this criticism constructively and reduce the salt content in the chicken doner!Besides that, everything else about the restaunt was great which is why I am still giving it 3/5. Service was prompt, the tables clean and the restroom exceptionally well maintained.

This place was so good. The food was amazing and the guy working there at the register was awesome, we went for a walk after we ordered and when our food was ready he came outside looking for us and was extremely sweet and helpful. This is legit middleastern food! We tried the chicken doner (shawarma in most arabic countries), it was awesome! We also tried the dolma or grape leaves wrap! I feel like it still needs more soarness so they just include a slice of lemon. I am assuming they are trying to adapt to the american taste. :) None the less it was still good! They gave us free baklava and I might come back tomorrow to buy more!

I went there with my family and was really looking forward to it based on the reviews. The place looked nice and was clean on the inside. I thought the prices were high but figured being downtown Santa Cruz, rent must be outrageous too, so understandable I suppose. The person helping us was not very friendly or helpful in answering questions. I ordered a chicken wrap, chicken plate, water, coke and fries. The fries were ok, but the chicken was just not good. It really tasted old, both in the wrap and plate. It was very dry and tasted like how old chicken would taste and pretty much ruined the entire meal. Maybe our mistake was not getting the beef or lamb but we expected more for a meal that cost about $51 including tip. Finally, the handwritten sign in the bathroom about what to throw and not throw in the toilet with exclamation marks is just silly. For those who do such things, it is not because of lack of knowledge but rather lack of character and a handwritten sign will not change anything but make the place look bad .

We usually dine in here, but this time we chose take out. The döner plates and wraps (beef&lamb and combo) were very tasty as usual, pita and hummus are the perfect accompaniment, the white sauce is divine, salads are fresh and crispy. Everything was packaged perfectly to keep warm (or fresh) for the 40 minute drive home and we enjoyed every bite.Our 4yo loved the coloring options last time we stayed to eat in the restaurant. The staff is always super nice and helpful too.

What an absolute (Turkish) delight! We had a last minute large gathering that Arslans accommodated with just a few hours notice. Food is overpriced for what you get. Do not get the plate as it is definitely not worth 20 dollars of food or anything like that. Just stick with a wrap. Service was also fairly average. The water is tap water not even ice is in it so enjoy drinking warm water.

The food is fantastic! Just do your best to not have to interact with the blonde woman owner. She is short tempered, aggravated and ready to argue. I’ve been there a bunch of times too. Always arguing with her husband and storming around the kitchen.

We ordered the combo plate, the beef/lamb plate, with the rice and lentil soup sides. We also added wraps for the kids, the combo wrap and a beef and lamb wrap. We ordered over the phone, the man told us it will be ready in 15 minutes. We got there 20 minutes later and had to wait another 7 minntes, we didnt mind that though since we werent in a hurry.The portions for the plate seemed bit less for the price...I think the people dining in had more food on their plates...The wraps were very good. Although I feel like the combo wrap didnt have the meat balance... the chicken wasnt evenly filled in compared to the lamb and beef.Never the less. This was a great place to eat from, the flavors of the food were different which we all liked.

Awful. Avoid it. I ordered the $14.95 beef and lamb wrap with fries. I dont know what kind of Beef or Lamb theyre using, but that wasnt meat. Fries are too salty and not worth my $5. Highly recommend Arslans! They have a great menu selection that offers something different from the other Mediterranean restaurants in Santa Cruz. After visiting Istanbul I can confirm their food stands out as authentic. I especially enjoy their drink selection, which has everything from Turkish Coffee and Tea (excellent!) to turkish sodas. The döner wraps are tasty and well seasoned, and their selection of baklava and turkish delights are great for desert. Service is very friendly as well!

I bought a lavash wrap with dolmas, since I am vegetarian. The wrap was so fresh I felt comforted by a meal made with care. I honestly wish I could have stayed and eaten more on the menu. The fries were outstanding. *Perfectly* salted and crisp. I spent the time sitting there reading the rest of the menu and glorying in the thought of future visits. The best Döner Ive had outside of Germany, by far. If youve traveled to German speaking countries or eastern Europe, youve probably had or seen Döner kebab places, and this is spot on. Its just as good as I remember, and very healthy to boot.The food is made from fresh high quality ingredients, and the sauces are amazing. Such a unique flavor that you just wont find anywhere else. Id highly recommend you start with a wrap with all the fixings, and to try the hot sauce. Otherwise, the plates look really good, too.This place is worth sitting in traffic on 17. I absolutely plan on coming back again and again.

Food is delicious. Although they serve very small amounts of it. But the thing is servingwas very slow and they forget some items. I ordered gyre plate with soup. They forget to bring my soup which I already paid for. And when I asked extra bread twice they didn’t bring the bread. If they fix these problems they will be very successful. I recommend the lamb gyro platter.

Okay food awful reception and treatment! When ordering for sides I asked what side you have they pointed to display hanging above my head, not easy to read for me, he instead of telling what are the options pointed his finger toward the display like that could be of any help! They charge for hot sauce which is very weird!!! Besides that they keep plastic forks and napkins behind the counter and conveniently forget to give you, which is very stingy.Not recommend bad experience!

Hi, The cook/chef changed the waterbottle and touched quite a few things in the process and he just ran back to touching peoples foods like pitta bread and everything else that goes into food without changing his gloves or sanitizing them. So, thats pretty gross and insanitary even in normal times, but during a pandemic, its super gross and irresponsible and in my view, rises to the level of negligence or even recklessness. So, we left without eating there and we wont be back.
