Asaka Sushi & Bar in Berkeley

Visited this place just once and were really happy with the quality of their rolls. The fish was fresh and the ingredients were well balanced well. Their menu is pretty big so it took some time to pick different rolls (meaning with different fish) We ordered three sets for two people and all of them were pretty good. The service was fast and overall experience was nice as the neighborhood where this place located is very cute. 4/5 from me just because the place is good but not special

Good sushi and general very nice service. I’ve been her 4-5 times, but be careful when getting takeout.Unfortunately, last time I ordered they forgot to add any soy sauce, napkins, chopsticks, and ponzu to the to-go order. Be sure to check your bag before you leave.

Ive had sushi in prestigious restaurants, make no mistake, this is quality sushi at a very reasonable price. The seafood/fish was fresh, and the ingredients were done perfectly. Even the tea was exceptional. I havent enjoyed a sushi this much for a while. Try it out. You wont regret it.

10/2/22Our first visit here the day after their grand opening. Good Menu variety, particularly with vegetarian options. The price was about the same as two other Sushi restaurants in the North Berkeley neighborhood. They are open on Sundays and early! This is what separates Asaka Sushi from the others.

Food is okay, service is okay. but the serving lady asked for a percentage higher than a normal tip which just because were more than 5 people, 2 of which were 5-year-old and a 9-month old. Im not against tips, I could have give her a decent one, but she didnt say it before we started. also we were charged dinner at 1pm just because its a holiday.

This is a legit sushi bar. It has the highest quality seafood I’ve found in Berkeley. It’s excellent. The service is great and it’s just a little off the beaten path which is a nice change from other parts of Berkeley. The restaurant is clean. There’s a nice mix of diners. Prices are good (it’s not overpriced like every other restaurant in Berkeley). The only thing I wish was different is the plastic tableware. Eating from ceramic and glass is so much better than plastic, but never the less, it’s my new favorite sushi spot.I had the mango jalapeño roll (excellent), sewers salad (excellent), miso soup (standard), sparking yuzu water (excellent), kagatobi super dry sake (very good). We left full and very satisfied.

4 stars because we ordered a bento lunch box and the chicken teriyaki and fish teriyaki werent freshly cooked but rather reheatead, which is a bummer! Generally, the sushi is quite good here, although the special sushi could be quite pricey.Parking could be a struggle if you come during the rush hours!

I ordered from here today and was very specific about not wanting any tobiko (fish eggs) on my rolls due to allergies. I got home to discover that someone had put tobiko on my food and rather than make me a new roll even though I had been specific that I was allergic to this they just scraped the eggs off in an extremely poor way when they noticed their mistake and didn’t mention it at all.It’s pretty clear that the cost of a roll is more important to these people than the health of their customers. It’s a shame too because the other roll they made me was pretty good.

I ordered tuna and salmon roll. The food is very delicious and environment is nice. Perfect service. I definitely will come again.
