We sat outside which was lovely since the weather was nice! Great service and food! I am not familiar with Indian food but I still enjoyed it so much. We got a big bottle of beer, appetizer, and a big plate to share and the bill was only $40. I would love to visit here with my family!

The food was good. They were able to accommodate jain options (without onion and garlic). The menu has jain options highlighted in asterik which is soo good to see.Their server was very responsive and hospitable. We ordered veg korma, mutter paneer, makke di roti and tandoori roti. Also their mango shake was fresh and good.

Overall, the food was flavorful and definitely worthy of another try. This was my first time ordering here and it should be noted it was via a delivery app. The food was still hot with steam when it arrived. Ordered at 2:26 pm; the food arrived at 3:02 pm.Chicken Tikka Masala: Amazing texture. Slightly melts which I certainly was not expecting. My only negative is I ordered mild and I can barely eat beyond the bite I had due to the extreme spice level. I presume they did not give me mild.Aloo Gobi: I was slightly underwhelming. The vegetables could’ve cooked a little longer. It had a crunch to the cauliflower and the potatoes did not have a smooth bite.Garlic Naan: It did not hold well. It was soggy, chewy and moist. I presume this be better suited by dining there.Vegetables Samosas: Wonderful size! However, they did not have much flavor and left a slight grease film in my mouth.I’d definitely go there for the chicken tikka masala. That one bite it had was AMAZING. I had a wonderful experience at Ashoka the Great. The food was delicious and authentic, with a variety of dishes to choose from. I especially enjoyed the chicken tikka masala and the garlic naan. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant had a breezy and spacious environment, with comfortable seating and nice decor. The service was friendly and attentive, and they had a IPA beer to go with the food. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Indian meal in Artesia. Its one of the best restaurants in the area!

Amazing restaurant, one of the best stops in Artesia for Indian food. We ordered Tandoori chicken, malai kofta and fried rice and everything was flavorful and delicious. I’d highly recommend their tandoori chicken, which surprisingly came in a sizzler plate. Food was not pricey, we were infact surprised by the generous portion sizes for reasonable price and beautiful ambience. The servers were kind and smiling, overall this place has everything you’d generally look for in a restaurant.

We discovered Ashoka The Great Cuisine of India a couple months ago and have now ordered food delivery from them several times. Ive personally been in search of a new favorite Indian restaurant since the one I went to for years closed about six years ago. ...at long last! Ive found it. The flavors, the texture of the spinach saag, the density of the chicken tikka masala sauce, the crispiness of the samosas and the spiciness. It seems every Indian restaurant has their own preference / style and I had grown to love the food prepared a certain way . I was crushed when my other go-to restaurant sold to a new owner. The food was never the same. But now that void has been filled and Im completely happy with my Indian food again. Thank you!

Went in for early dinner, very mediocre food. Had high expectations owing to reviews. The chutney stood out, it was greener than grass. Too much food coloring!! The paneer tikka was undercooked. Paneer masala was so orangey in color, again too much food color. Malai kofta was eh. The nans and kulchas were exactly the same, so just order kulchas because what we ate today were not nans. Won’t recommend. The only thing I liked was the outdoor seating.

This restaurant is incredible! Our families favorite since I was young and Im 50 now. Its the best East Indian food in California and the area is beautiful, fun to explore. Trust me you will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxed and very nice, as well as the staff. As well clean. Prices are middle of the road not cheap or expensive. I recommend the mixed tandoori grill. Delicious!

Ahsoka is such a classy Indian dining establishment. I came here with a couple of friends after winning at our weekly poker game. It was their first time so I used the money I won to treat my friends to an exquisite medly of spice & flavors that only the great country of India can provide. We were sorely underdressed for such a classy restaurant, however the staff treated us kindly and were super attentive. The waiter, with the immaculate curls, was on top of everything and made my friends first Indian cuisine experience one to remember. It is a shame I did not take photos, will be back solely for that. 12/10 would definitely recommend for an intimate date or a group occasion. I forgot to mention they even have TVs with sports on! Give Ahsoka a try I promise she will not disappoint.

Authentic Indian restaurant.We had lamb Curry, chicken butter curry, naan, basmati rice, salty lassi, and mango lassi.You can choose the spicy level from mild, medium and spicy.For us the medium level was spicy enough.Both curry tasted very well.I think cilantro goes well with the curry.While mango lassi was so sweet, salty lassi wasnt sweet at all.Thats just mild salty.Its my first time to have a non sweet lassi but I felt its sweetness slightly after I ate the curry.I think cilantro made it more.This restaurant is very clean and the staff were very kind.

The outdoor seating is great and perfect for a night out with friends or a date. The food is very reasonably priced and the customer service is great. The food was delicious to say the least and my chicken tikka masala was great… I have to admit the garlic naan stole the show. I will definitely go back to this place.

We keep coming back to this restaurant because their food is just delicious! We try something different every time and have nothing to complain about yet. Their long islands are a must have! Service was good, but upon delivery to the table we (6) were tasked with moving the dishes around and handing them back vs the staff walking around the table for pickup and drop off. A bit weird. Like they were only allowed on one side of the table 🤪 Street parking is not easy.

Food was Indian style so no complaints, a small cockroach walked up to our table, indecently the server was right there so he smashed it right there and put it in the napkin on his hand. He also offered to not charge for the samosas( not the entire buffet bill) that was few years ago, me and my two children never went back. Kids are big now but we always remember it when it walk by. To be fair it was over 3 years ago. So may be they have cleaned up.

A dozen or so tables are set for the outdoor dining and several heat lamps nearby to keep the customers comfortable. The buffet service is unavailable at this time. BTW their buffet prices for lunch and dinner prices are a great value for the number of hot dishes and desserts you can try, much better than ordering a la carte.The naan ($1.49) and garlic naan ($1.99) are cut into four pieces each and go well with the chicken tikka masala ($10.99) and saag paneer ($8.99). It contains a good amount of chicken in the tikka masala, and few cheese cubes in the saag paneer. I went with mild for the spice level and would love to try spicy/extra spicy levels next time.I would rate this below Saffron Indian Restaurant. Ashoka is more comparable to the nearby The Indian Restaurant, which offers a buffet service (pre-covid) for a great price. The carryout a la carte dishes are not the same as experiencing these Indian buffets. Looking forward to returning here and few other Indian buffets in Little India.

The best Indian food I’ve had yet? We lived in Fremont, CA before and We had delicious Indian food there until we checked out this place! The only thing I wouldn’t order again is salty lassi which is super salty I cant finish. The rest is so yum 💯😋

Little India in Artesia is great and Ashoka The Great is my favorite. There are many very good restaurants there but I think the food at Ashoka is the best! The outdoor dining tables are nice with fine tablecloths and matching cloth napkins. A nice touch. Even the silverware and glassware were of high quality. But by far the food is what makes them truly The Great!

Anniversary dinner... We always choose Indian cuisine for our 1 on 1 dinners because we enjoy it more than our kids.Veggie korma is our go to dish but it was only soso here tonight. The peas were slightly under cooked and the flavor was not as buttery and creamy as other kormas weve had at other restaurants. We also had the saag paneer which was ok but had a tangy aftertaste. The goat curry was all bones and fat but the flavor was average and not gamey. The rice costed more than the naan which I thought was weird.Our server was very nice but forgot the citrus we requested and didnt come back to check if we needed water... There were 2 large parties of 8 though so...

Fell upon Ashoka, after finding out desired Indian restaurant was vegetarian cuisine only. During lunch, buffet or menus driven. Went menu, and the Tandoori mix (the sight, smell, and sound upon arrival..). Amazing! Sides of Garlic, Chili, and Disco Naan is a must with the yogurt cucumber dipping sauce! Only downside is the music...not the Indian genre itself (I enjoy all music), but the fact, that the music, fades, breaks up, pauses, restarts...very annoying.

Last night my family and I went to the restaurant, we saw reviews and thought it we were going in for a treat and once our food came in we were exited to feast but all of a sudden my mother found hairs in her chicken mixed with vegetables and fish. My mother had bad experiences before with outside food and she couldnt stop throwing up or feeling sick after our stay. We know it wasnt the waisters fault. He was very sweet and very apologetic. Hopefully this doesnt happen again in the future! 😕

Beautiful restaurant and nice south Indian style food. The spices were wonderful and robust and the breads were always fresh. My critique is that the biriyani rice wasnt fluffy and was more wet. When we cleared off part of the plate there was a shadow pool of water at the bottom. Not ideal. The flavor was good though.

This place is amazing - good, authentic Indian food. Everything we got (spicy chicken curry, tandoori chicken tikka, lamb curry, garlic naan, etc.) was phenomenal. It’s seriously out of the way of where we live, but I’d consider making the two hour round trip again just for their food. The waitress/hostess who took our order was also unbelievably sweet and helpful!

Other than finding a sharp piece of bone that couldve killed me, and a piece of hair in my food, which I paid the full price for, I would say I had a decent experience. The biriyani was horrible, they just added some chilli powder and gave it as it is.. it was so raw and looks like they don’t even know how a Indian Biriyani will be.. And on top of that to prepare this horrible biriyani they took 30 mins.. no one cared to even check on..I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I have been to this establishment before and was met with great service, food, and ambiance. Yesterday was not the same. The quality of the food and the portions have gone down hill. Not to mention when an item out of our combination order was not delivered they altered the dish to fit THEIR needs instead of what is on the menu. I would understand the explanation if it was my first time there and I had never ordered that exact meal, but since I have frequented this establishment, familiar with the culture and cook these same dishes on my own, I couldnt have been fooled. None the less, we were graceful and still left a tip. Sadly I will not be returning.

Very BAD experience. They gave me old vegetables and chicken. They gave me the rotten old and cold garlic naan’s. My whole family got sick 🤢. I don’t recommend this place at all. The food was 5 days old and very oily. Please don’t go to this restaurant. This will make you sick. Servers were really bad, I went to tell them and they didn’t listen and they hang up on me. If you wanna get sick then go to this place.

We ordered plain naan, garlic naan, shahi paneer, veg kurma, jeera rice and veg biryani and masala corn. We requested to make some of these items Jain. Everything was very well made and tasty.Only disappointment was Masala corn which was a starter but was made like a gravy style and very spicy.Also they took around 50 mins to get the order ready but not complaining as the wait was worth it.

I had a really enjoyable experience having dinner here. I sat in the outdoor area and it was lovely. The portions were large and I loved the mushroom masala curry. Very fragrant and tasty. I have just finished having what feels like one of the worst meals in my life from here. Everything on the plate was quite unfortunate. I came in with my daughter and husband today. We waited and waited, just to get water. Every other table had waiters or the manager checking on them. The manager looked at our table and kept walking. It was so obvious that they didnt want us there that we ended up leaving after ordering our food. Why would people from minoritized communities make other communities feel unwanted? this was really hurtful. My 21 year old daughter has experienced racism twice in her life. This was the second time. And its just really sad. I guess we should have been white.

The food was fine, not the best or worst Indian Ive had but it was some of the slowest and least efficient service Ive had in a restaurant in general.First our server forgot to put our order in and apologized and offered a discount and that would have been fine if that was all, people make mistakes and they were pretty busy.Im trying to figure out if we was the only server and also covering inside or what because before that he was slow and after that he was still slow and when our food did finally come he took forever to check on us.The weirdest thing was that other people checked on us and asked us if we needed things, which we did, but they never brought us the things we needed after they asked so maybe they were just going and telling our server to get us what we were missing?For example, they forgot the rice and the person who brought us our food offered to get it for us but never did.Another man asked us if we needed anything when we were done and sitting for a while and we asked for boxes to take food home.That guy didnt bring us boxes but a good ten minutes later our server showed up and asked us if we needed boxes.He then counted that we would need three and returned with only two.I get a restaurant being busy but I felt like I was constantly waiting for service even when our server was outside where we could see him and talking to other customers.The people to our right were in the same boat and kept flagging him down to ask for things.Maybe it was an off day, maybe just that one server sucks but I do know that there are an insane number of Indian restaurants on this street and unless somebody twisted my arm I think this experience has made it so that I would visit literally all of them before going here again and giving them another chance.

Not So Great!We tried this restaurant two times over the past year. One time they were on time and things were good. Second time they did not prepare the food. We completed our shopping and came back to be asked to wait for additional 20 minutes.Last week we went there with family (five members). We got a table around 3:50 PM. My favorite East Indian restaurant l hadnt visited in awhile and its still great! They have a wonderful Buffet until 3:00 but my friend was running late. My friend & i entered the doorway & waited to inquire about a table. a party of 4 walked in behind us. an employee walked past us, & up to them. she answered told them that for their party of FOUR, there is no table ready but instead a 20 min. wait.what about our party of 2?the employee walked away instead of answering us.the employee chose to ignore us when we were before the others. we did not complain. we thought we would eventually be heard. but your employee continued to ignore us. on the way out, we saw a table for TWO sitting there empty. too bad your employee chooses to ignore parties which this establishment is ready to serve. the rude manners here are definitely hurting this business.

Ive been coming here since the 90s, each time experiencing a FEAST at an affordable price for family and friends. Having lived in different far away places in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, I have come to appreciate and enjoy the different delicacies and all kinds of ethnic food, especially HOT and spicy meat and vegetarian dishes. My wife and most family members and friends prefer the milder Chinese, Vietnamese, Italian, Continental dishes. Very similar to classy and higher priced dishes served in English Indian restaurants and Chicago.In my opinion, I would rate Ashoka is the best restaurant serving One Price Buffet lunch. Sadly, the other restaurant in Brea, closed a few years ago due to location and clientele. Ive never experienced the complaints made at YELP.Please be open minded. If youre late, there can be more bones than meat left in the serving plate. This place is popular and you can only imagine what happens when there is a long line outside and the place gets busy; but in all fairness, the management and staff are courteous. For me, the food selection has always been great !!! Get the Gulab Jaman for your dessert!

Adding to the chorus of positive reviews: went there today for lunch. Ive been to this place many times for dinner, but today was my first exposure to the wonder of their lunch buffet. Dinner here is good, and Id go as far as saying its the best Punjabi style Indian restaurant I have been to in Southern California. However it is not so many miles better that it really merits a special trip if youre not already nearby. However, dear God that lunch buffet is amazing. I usually dont really like Indian buffets. The usual crowd favorites, warmed over and sitting around, and not very tasty. But Ashokas buffet is a monument near worthy of restaurants name! There was a great variety of both vegetarian and non vegetarian entree options, as well as chaat, appetizers and dessert. The restaurant was moderately busy, even at 2 PM on a Monday, filled with a largely Indian crowd (never a bad sign at an Indian restaurant), so I didnt get the idea that the buffet had been sitting there in its chafing dishes for much time - lots of turnover. My favorite dishes today were the potato and turnip curry (who doesnt like starch?), the creamy dhal makhani, the cauliflower and potatoes, and the goat curry (I really like goat meat in curries because the meats string taste holds up well to the spice). Nothing was very spicy, but it was all flavorful and fresh. Service was as expected in a buffet situation, just fine. I recommend this place very highly!

In an area with so many restaurants featuring Indian food, this one is a find. Good food and service, nice selection, nice ambiance, and very reasonable prices. Even the bar prices are reasonable, but there may not be a bartender on hand during the week. Its my go-to for Indian food.

Their all you can eat buffet is really good and I especially like the tandoori chicken as well as the goat Curry. They offer both vegetarian and meat eater options with a difference in price where the vegetarian will be charged less since vegetables dont cost as much as meat. The naan is very delicious especially if you get the garlic naan and the mango lassi is incredibly delicious as well.

Obsessed with the quality of the food and customer service from Ashoka the Great! Theyre always so accomodating with my order modifications and patient.I usually order the Ashoka the Great thali/combo with butter chicken (substitute white meat) with chicken curry side, all medium spicy. Combine this with disco naan and its pure flame emoji.Best part is that theres free parking (usually paid and metered) in Downtown Artesia/Little India, so please come support local businesses if you can!

Ashoka, The Great, can rest in his grave that his name is not being misused.I rarely go for Indian food because i either eat the same boring thing or i risk my tongue to burn silly.Buy today, it all changed. This food was exquisite. I ordered chicken tikka, veggie rols and garlic indian bread (sorry I dont recall the name). Wow.The restaurant gives you the choice of cooking for you either mild, medium or hot.Service is friendly yet professional.Ambiance is very pleasant and manicured. I love a table properly set up with a crispy tablecloth. Still, you can eat affordably or go bananas ordering lots of stuff. I tell you, itll be worth your money and your trip to little India.Albert my waiter did a great job explaining the menu to a neophite like myself and made me feel at home.

Just had lunch here. One of the worst indian foods i ever had. Service was good but food quality is really bad. I wont recommend this to anyone. Overall cleanliness and hygiene can be improved upon. All chicken and paneer dishes were stale. This restaurant had C grade fre years ago so i avoided this place for long. I wonder how they got A now.

Please save yourself the time, there are better options down the street. Buffet had stale chicken throughout every chicken dish. The flavorful sauces were this places only saving grace. Gajar Halwa was turned to mush. Naan was overcooked therefore crispy and brittle (should be soft). Served rockhard frozen peaches with evaporated milk as an option in the deserts. I mean come on, if that isnt a sign of a business in dire straights to save money what else is.

Surprised by the greasy, flavorless dishes particularly the curry. Was not asked how spicy we would like the food so took it upon myself to communicate medium spice please. The curry and lentils were bland, mild and very oily. Not many vegetarian options.
