Asia Wok Chinese Food in San Diego

Read this through, and dont let the photos fool you. Youll thank me for not wasting your money...So, I had a strong craving for salt and pepper chicken wings, went here tonight because its located maybe 5 minutes from where I just moved to. Thought it looked okay online, and would save me a 20 min drive to Imperial Palace or Royal Mandarin in National City, my fave places to go for good wings! A few reviews said the S&P wings were good. They lied!Firstly, the cost is crazy at $12 for 8 pieces. I can go to either of the aforementioned places and get 12 wings PLUS fried rice for the same price or close to it. No rice comes with the wings at Asia Wok. I was feeding three people, so I ended up ordering a 2-item combo meal to make up for the extra pieces of chicken I was expecting, as well as for the rice.Secondly, although they were friendly enough, the service was very slow. Very. The chick at the counter was pulling double duty packing to-go orders and counter orders while her co-worker rang people up, and I respect that its a lot of work. But she had absolutely no pep in her step! Moving way too slow. There were four worker-guys just kinda standing around in the side and back areas of the kitchen not doing anything or helping out at all. I was in line maybe 6-7 minutes before she even greeted me. Then I had to wait for more wings to cook, which I thought was a good sign at first, like, They cant keep enough wings at the counter, must be tasty! 😊 20 minutes later, the wings come out. They looked a little dark, but I was ready to go and didnt feel like complaining...Got into the car and I could smell the salt / old grease. Not a good sign. Got them home and tasted them - WAAAAY too much table salt! I had to dust some of it off. You can tell they arent using the authentic seasoning mix. S&P fans know that flavor. You can barely wait to drive off in the car before digging into the bag when that aroma hits your nose. 🤤 This was literally just table salt, some red chili flakes and green onion. No kosher salt flakes, no fried garlic, not even any pepper!? And I know its not the best for you, buuut, if theres no MSG in the seasoning, its a fraud. No MSG here. The batter had a kinda thickness to it. Too much batter. Not light and crispy.They arent the worst Ive ever tasted, but darn close. I definitely will not be going back. Ill just make the drive to National City and get the real deal. $25 for some salty-as-ish blah wings and some fried rice. I coulda bought a large pad of chicken wings next door at Food4Less and made my own that wouldve tasted more authentic and been a more satisfying meal. 2 stars.

I’m going to keep it real…this food is extra nasty. It’s like it was mad with a hint of mop water. You can taste a funk in everything.The house egg roll was so nasty..my kids literally spit it into their hands after trying it. I tried it and agreed…gross af.Everything is extra greasy too. My mouth was coated in grease like a dang candle.Cute girl at the counter was cool. Had a genuine smile and was quick to pack up the food.Portion sizes are huge! Huge because the food taste like the Chum Bucket.Don’t eat here at night. Maybe try daytime.

Ive been coming here for years. And have never been so disappointed lately. When the young ladies fix my plate the proportions are just right. But when the men fix my plate I never have enough of anything except for Rice and noodles. This place has went down tremendously. But if you want to take a chance on this place its best that you show up in person. Because if you dont you dont know whether or not youre going to have enough food. And if this is happening more than twice then what is happening to the food itself. So you can trust this place if you want to but dont be a fool believe me dont be a fool. To the young ladies thank you very much for your polite and great service. I am sorry for you all.

I came across this local restaurant after getting off the trolley at Euclid station. Walked in and was surprised by what I saw. Asian food hot and practically ready to go all I have to do is order? Amazing deals 3 entrees two side for under $15? OMG! Two or a single entree is less. Still wit two sides fried rice or low mien. The hot and sour soup is amazing to large $4. I’ve eaten there almost everyday since discovering this place. Friendly workers, clean environment, and great food pretty much sums it up. I have not tried the sushi yet but I will.

Now originally when I first visited this place, I had quite a literal day of hell. Pulled a double, with 30 minutes in between during the rain/ thunderstorm, with no hood or umbrella, for 16 hours.My Saving Grace was this meal. It is very low cost, I quite frankly would say its better than Panda Express, and you get a decent amount of food for the price. This is my second time being here, and I absolutely recommend to any and everyone

This place was so good at lunch... had to reorder for dinner!! The wings are the bomb!! I’m so addicted to them!! The sushi rollers delicious!!! Got a second order of wings for hubs with some Beef and broccoli.. he is now addicted!! And the hot sauce and sweet n sour.. just pour him a gallon of the stuff!! #doordash delivery!!

Sushi was the worst sushi Ive ever had. Spicy tuna was literally taken out of a can of tuna. I spit it out... I understand this is a Chinese place but why would they put something inedible on the menu! The orange chicken was good though so if youre gettin regular Chinese go for it.

This is one of my favorite spots. Service is always top notch and their food is delicious. Theres a beautiful mural painted on the ceiling to admire while you wait for your food.

The staff was very Friendly. They made me feel comfortable being there . I would say its also a place that you can bring kids but the food itself was not tasty at all. The portions were great. The price was okay. But it taste like old and bland food.Ive had food poisoning for almost 3 days now. I have been vomiting perfusly. I cant keep anything down now and its getting to the point where Im hungry but I have anxiety about eating because I am concerned about throwing up again.I wouldnt come back ever again. Sometimes the people with the kindest treatment are the same ones who will smile in your face as you begin to be poisoned.
