One of the few local places to find asian ingredients and other ingredients in bulk at a fair price. Their house made products are very affordable (like seaweed salad) and delicious. Shop here instead for what you can instead of larges grocery chains- you’ll save money and keep this local gem alive.

Yes Kimbap is awesome. The cashier is not friendly, they lack customer service etiquette. Its better at the Asian Filipino store across town on Reservation.
Always go for their freshly made sushi rolls. You can eat this delicious snack right out of the plastic wrap.They have the sushi hand roll available by the register. If theyre out, you can usually ask if theyre sold out or if there will be more available. For the most part, they will make more. Definitely reminds me of the sushi rolls back home that you can buy at a local store. Yum.
Mom and pop style medium sized Korean grocery, stocking wide range of mainly Korean groceries and kitchen gear that mainstream stores dont carry. Notable for their store-made kimbap (Korean cooked sushi rolls) in a container by the cash register, steal of a deal for only $2 each, grab some if they are there because they sell out quick! They also make their own kimchi, sold in half gallon or gallon sizes, tasty and another great deal.
There is a variety of different foods to choose from, the workers are nice and the prices are good. The place feels homey and there is many different things to choose from, whether you want to purchase food or cooking materials like pans or cups this place has different things to offer. The sushi rolls are always really good and the prices are very affordable. Definitely recommend it! (:
I have shopped a couple times at this store, and I have noticed recently that they had made improvements on the display and appearance of store from inside. The first time I went there, the store hand an unpleasant smell and store items were untidy. It is much better now. They feature some international selection of groceries, meat and produce. Their prices can be competitive, and their location is convenient. It is easy to find parking there.
This location was cleaner and bigger than the Salinas location. Some of the vegetables and fish didnt seem that fresh though. But I needed a bag of ice and the owner was nice to give me some. Overall great place to find my Asian food needs.
Prefer Hongs Market but they never seem to be open anymore. Asian Market has better hours.Highly recommend the homemade korean sushi. It rocks!

Very cute little K-shop. It was my first time going here and it has most necessities I wanted to get. I mainly came for the Korean + Japanese snacks ☺ workers there were super nice too so overall it was a wonderful experience! Highly recommend and will be back in the future.
The one and only decent asian grocery shop in Marina. Usually fresh produce and seafood. Fair prices and kind service. I just wish they had a wider variety of japanese/korean goods. Still, youll find find something for everyones taste.

My daughter and heat friend like to shop at the Asian Market. However, since we do not have Asian ancestry the people who work there are not friendly as friendly as shed like. However, I encouraged her to speak first and maybe they might be more open to engaging with her.

This is my favorite place to get easy food to make lunch or just get snacks, but it has a wide selection for anything youd want to cook. I mostly like their rice cakes, noodles, and tea. Its always very quiet and peaceful.
Great little market.. you can find alot of specialty items here and foods.. Awesome Sake selections at all times. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is because its a little dirty.. and only one register. When its busy, and it does get busy.. the line is long. But the staff is helpful and very nice ..All in all... a nice Asian market ❤

This store is well stocked and has friendly staff. Since the turnover of product os high, the food is fresh. Im happy to have a market that supplies most of my Asian Grocery needs close to home.
Nice little shop. Never too many people inside but they have many things that you may be looking for. They didnt have any dark soy sauce this time but they did have it before.
Terrible service. Staff working there was unpredictably rude. I was standing behind a lady, and the man working at the cashier bluntly pointed at me and asked me to stand at a different position to line up. While I didn’t know the difference of two positions I stood(cuz there was literally no one after me), the worse thing was that don’t accept discover as a form of payment. After I tried using another Visa card, the cashier guy just yelled at me “PIN!PIN!PIN!” as if I don’t know how to enter my PIN. It turned out that my Visa card has expired, and I politely asked him if they take Venmo/PayPal. The man again pointed at me and yelled “you have the wrong card” without answering my questions. I just stood there for a second, didn’t know what to do and finally had to leave. I wish they had better customer service.
Love this little market! My favorite items are their fresh kim chee and their $1.50 sushi. Sometimes they are sold out of their sushi rolls, but usually the wait isnt too long. Very kind and helpful staff.

Great Asian Market! Def will be going there again, went for the first time and I loved it! They have all the Asian goods! Worth the little drive! And the people working there are so friendly. Store is really organized, which makes it really easy to find things!
You should try their amazing gimbab (Korean style sushi roll) and all their Korean side dishes (banchan in Korean) are freshly made and authentic!

Love this place. The prices are beyond reasonable for a wide assortment of imported instant noodles. The fresh hand rolls are delicious and the people are friendly. This is is a standard that all small stores should aspire to.

Steve the owner is not friendly his partner you hardly see is very nice. But now his brother in Salinas is nicer than Steve, so hopefully as generation get passed down the market might change to a different name and be well known and well liked. It must be the largest Asian market in Monterey, Santa Cruz area. Korean item is main. Pricing is reasonable. Weakend is rather busy here. May have some waiting at the cashier. There is Philippine market in the same center.

I really enjoy coming here for several Korean foods! I live in Salinas and I dont like to drive, so it is an effort for me that I am willing to make. When you are hooked on Korean coffee it is well worth the trip! I also buy ramen, bean buns, kim bap and today I bought japche ( which I do not know how to spell). I will be back again soon!

If you like live crabs in season this is the place to go. Steve keeps them in a big tank of water with a bubbling hose of air and they are fresh and alive. With almost every spice whole or ground up and food supplies from all over the world you wont have trouble finding the ingredients no matter what your receipe calls for. This is a large market clean and bright with fresh whole fish, salmon in season, slabs of pork belly, ready for you to cut into your own thick sliced bacon or put in the oven and roast .Walking into Steves place is just like any other market I have visited half way round the world. If its from India or Thailand, the Philippines or Korea you will most likely find it there.He has a surprising amount of produce that you might not find many places in Monterey area. Happy hunting.
A bit old fashioned, but have most of basic grocery items. Their home-made-like Kimbop and Japchae are very inexpensive and nice. Almost addictive. If only they had more offers for meat products... The largest Korean grocery in the Monterey area. Oh, and they dont charge tax, which is kind of standard for Korean grocery stores...
One of the better Korean/Asian markets in the area. Best Kimchee you can buy for hundreds of miles. Folks really go for the kimbap, which is good too. Decent selection of Asian staples,
Theres a big selection of produce and all kinds of packed goods and teas to choose from, along with some some strange fruits that I will slowly make my way through. Even if you dont plan on doing your grocery shopping here, its a cool stop to see something different and tasty.

I just moved to Monterey and Ill look around some more, but I have the feeling this will be my go to place for Asian food. Came here looking for Chinese sausage. I was able to stock up on Chinese sausage, as well as salted eggs, pho noodles, pho soup base, and the original Sriracha. They have an entire row dedicated to rice and egg noodles, and another row with just spices, soup bases and sauces. I found a lot of things I wasnt expecting. I also like Indian food. So thats a bonus that they have Indian spices and food too.

2023-12-06 23:29:52The Asian Market is the largest of the Korean markets in the area. This market offers a great variety of Korean food products as well as Japanese and other Asian products. Customer service is very good and the owner is very helpful. I have purchased several rice cookers and water kettles as well as many other unique things. This market also has delicious kimbap Korean Sushi rolls and japchae noodles. This market also has some neat gift items. Parking available on private lot.

2023-07-14 03:53:50This is our favorite Asian market. We go here mostly for Korean Food. The owners are nice and make fresh kimbap which can be bought there. Some well known foods they sell are Pocky and Shrimp chips, and they sell beverages such as Ramune and Soju too. Highly recommend!

I asked, politely and respectfully, if there was any and the man was rude and dismissive ... Its past mango season!! (a CANNED OR FROZEN item??) Wont go back, who needs to be treated rudely for no reason?

2023-08-20 04:22:59Update: August 16, 2023Went back today, still no kimchi. Everyone was really nice today and not too busy. The kimbap was super delicious! Just fyi, they dont accept Amex and Discover, so that was a challenge, otherwise it was a smooth visit. They were filming while i was there and this guy came to me and said hi! I think he is famous, i have no idea. I asked someone his name, and they said Lim Joo Han. I googled him of course and he really is famous! 🤪August 08, 2023Went there earlier to see if they have kimchi. It was pretty busy for some filming whatsoever. The store was really hot inside. I live close to the store, and a friend of mine said they sell really good kimchi, but i didnt see any today. I will try next time. Next to it is a filipino mexican grocery store which is nice.

2023-08-15 20:59:36It’s ridiculous that my husband and I were stopped by the plaza entrance. They told us that there is some legal issues for us to go in because they are filming. We realized later that the reason we are stopped and told to leave because we are asians. They only want “authentic Americans” to be on their show. It’s very unacceptable and outrageous. I am very upset and disappointed how this Asian Market treated their Asian customers.
