I’m visiting from out of town and can’t wait to visit this place again next time I am back! The atmosphere is charming and unique. The menu is large with an overwhelming amount of vegan options! I love that they offer Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Sushi in one spot. I went with my meat-eating husband and we both truly enjoyed everything we had (firecracker soy shrimp, lobster sushi roll, orange chicken, and steamed napa roll). The orange chicken was our favorite, absolutely phenomenal! We were greeted quickly upon entry and server was kind.

The best vegetarian restaurant ever in Ca!We came for twice in these two days and really love this restaurant. The chef and server they all are friendly staff plus the important part is that the food are awesome! Our favorite food is Lardna, BBQ pork, and hot sour soup.Definitely will come back next time when we visiting Bakersfield again.

The food here has always been delicious. The staff is very friendly, really kind, considerate and go the extra mile to remember you. They are also very considerate of allergies or food intolerances. The building may look a little odd style wise considering the menu but dont let that fool you. Its a wonderful place. Always been really great. I particularly love the braised green beans, and stuffed mushrooms, and dad loves the hot and sour soup. But everything has been delicious. Highly recommend.

This is a first time I have eaten here. The food was good the service was unhurried which made me feel at ease doing through the menu.The menu is a bit much. They have Thai, Chinese and Japanese vegan styled Asian meals. If there was a critique I think that the menu has too many items which makes selection harder but everything seems like it would be delicious. What I had with my family was very good. Very important to me is service! The service was friendly and I would return. We accidentally left our doggy bag and our host ran out to our car to give it to us. Thats good service.The ambiance in the restaurant could use some updating but its not bad. It will not stop me from going there again.

Ordered food to go. Im Vegan but boyfriend is a meat eater. We ordered vegetable pad Thai, chicken yaki udon, a small side of steamed rice, a large side of steamed vegetables, an order of egg rolls, an order of steamed vegetable dumplings and a fruit tea (green tea w/ pineapple). Prices were great. Portions were great as well. All the food was hot and fresh and seriously so good. Even my meat eater boyfriend liked everything. He ordered the chicken yaki udon and that was amazing. We stopped for food while we were passing through on our way to Fresno. Im mad we didnt order another yaki udon because that was seriously sooooooo freaking delicious. 10/10. Owners are nice and its so nice to be able to order anything and everything ai want from the menu wince its all 100% Vegan ♡♡♡♡♡

I was thrilled to find this restaurant as I was passing through on a road trip. I highly recommend it. I ordered:1. Tofu Satay. Loved it and would definitely order again.2. Mongolian Beef. Very yummy. I am not a big fan of mock meats (try to stick to whole foods) but ordered it because it was recommended on Yelp. I really liked the seasoning.3. Napa cabbage stuffed with enoki mushrooms. I liked it and would order again but the sauce may not be for everyone. It has a unique flavor and quite a bit of garlic.Next time I come to/through Bakersfield, Ill definitely be back!

This place has AMAZING vegan food! Their “beef” is really well seasoned, I would recommend the beef chow mien and the Mongolian beef. The decor could be updated but don’t let that frighten you, it’s worth a try.

If you are ready for ADVENTURE and lower the carbon footprint at the same time, this is the place!Might not look like much from the open side, but you will amaze once you walk in. It was like a small vacation to vegan land. There are so many food to pick from, we needed to go again to try every dish. This is the best place to eat in Bakersfield, hands down. There’s a huge variety and it’s all flavorful and well made, we have never been disappointed. The server is so great and kind. This is our go-to restaurant, we especially love the spicy tonkatsu ramen, the orange chicken, the katsu curry bowl, and the dumplings. The taro smoothie and the fruit teas are excellent.

I remember when this place was a Sizzler 30 years ago! And then Ichiban sushi (owned by my uncle), and then Shangri-la (where the current decor is from), and now Asian Vegan Bistro. Ive been here twice now, and the food has been great so far! The first time, I went for my birthday with a bunch of friends. Most of the food we tried was really good! The only exception was the tonkatsu ramen, which tasted a little funny. I had the spicy beef noodle soup, which was under the Chinese menu so I thought it was going to be more like Taiwanese beef noodle soup, but it ended up more like bun bo hue (which is Vietnamese), with rice noodles. It was still good, just not what I was expecting. The walnut shrimp was also decent but could have used more sauce (my standard for walnut shrimp was the version at Panda Palace back in the day). Happy there is a third fully-vegan restaurant in Bakersfield now (after Better Bowls and Vida Vegan)!

My wife and I have been getting food from here every other Friday for the past 2 months now and we absolutely love it. The quality and portions are great and their prices are very reasonable. I’d compare this place to another one of my favorite spots (Chef’s Choice) and almost feel like they’re equivalent.I highly recommend this place to everyone, even those that are not vegan, you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I used to visit vegan bistro at least once a week for date night. We recently moved away and we crave it everyday!The tum yum soup is her favorite, and the drunken noodles with faux chicken & spicy dumpling soup are mine.The Yaki Undon & Thai tea are also very good. The chili oil is good too bad she always refused to share the recipe.

The orange chicken here is wonderful. Different than the typical fare elsewhere, the sauce is slightly sweet and flavorful, and you can actually taste the bright orange flavor in the sauce. The spring rolls were large and crisp, with a nice savory peanut sauce. I think this place has a lot of potential! Im not a vegan, and I really enjoyed it. You should try it too. The decor is left over from a previous incarnation of this restaurant so it has a kind of almost jungly feel. The only disconcerting thing was the music. Old style country music from the 50s. Patty Paige? Jimmy Dean? Maybe theyre trying to avoid any kind of copyright issues. But I really would rather hear something more instrumental, relaxed, and Asian. Thats why only 4 stars.

The food was very good. I ordered the kung pao chicken extra spicy along with the mango sticky rice and both were absolutely fantastic. The service and atmosphere were very good, the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again the next time we are in Bakersfield.

So excited to have found this gem on a weekend trip!The chow mein tasted EXACTLY like my favorite local Chinese buffet that closed years ago and nowhere since has even come close, so it was super nostalgic. Service was great, our server was friendly and everything was delicious (ordered a bit of an odd variety out of excitement). The sort of jungle themed decor was fun as well. We had the chow mein, honey walnut shrimp, Mongolian beef, and cucumber avocado roll. I honestly regret not ordering extra to go and packing the cooler with it to have when I got home because it was also very reasonably priced, my partner and I left full (with leftovers) for less than $50.

So delicious! So glad we stumbled across Asian Vegan Bistro in our search! We began with the fresh roll appetizer (2 pieces-forgot to photo), ordered the spicy tofu & eggplant entree and yellow curry soy chiken bowl, entrees included choice of rice; we chose brown rice.This is a definite must stop when back in the area, alas over 4.5 hrs by car from home.

This is a hidden gem for vegan/vegetarian food lovers! They have a large variety of Asian foods which are very delicious, ambience is very good & sometimes there is a wait when theyre busy, but its a family owned & operated venture so its OK. My first impression I wasnt sure they were open when I walked into the building, the ambiance was very dark and there were no customers at 1130 am. The inside is beautiful, it transports u to somewhere beautiful. The food was spectacular! We had gyros, pad thai, fried shrimp made from soy, Thai tea and I had their salted ice cream. Amazing food. I would definetly come back.

A true vegan gem in Bakersfield. Love the food, portions and service at this restaurant. The menu has many selections which, from what Ive tried so far, have all been very yummy. I highly recommend their fresh spring rolls with the savory peanut sauce they serve it with (top notch). Food was very tasty, and there are lots of options on the menu. Our group ordered 4 dishes - beef and broccoli had lots of veggies and the beef was a good texture. Green curry was flavorful, good temperature, spicy, and filling. BBQ pork was a little small and pork seemed similar to a tofu texture, good flavor but probably wont get again. Dont remember the last dish but it was large, colorful with veggies, and the person enjoyed it.The atmosphere seemed a little sad, dark, and quiet. The building is almost too big. Maybe we just caught it at a bad time, but more even lighting and some ambiance music would help.

Wife and I came in today to eat. We arrived right at 11am. A family was already seated at one of the booths near the window. We could hear a worker in the back scooping ice. We patiently waited for 20 minutes. I said hello loudly a couple of times. We never saw the employee. We were hungry so we left to go eat at another restaurant. This may be a good place to eat. I guess well never know. Both my wifes Life 360 gps location app and mine; with real-time time stamps confirms my time frames and the truth / accuracy of this review. Along with both of us sending texts to our family that we just arrived and those have time stamps as well and also sending texts that we were leaving. I have no motive to be dishonest. So, the owner saying my review isnt truth is about all I need to know about this business. They wont own up to or apologize for their mistake. Also, I would argue that only 8 minutes is too long to wait just to be seated when it isnt busy. Even though it was 20 minutes. I originally asked my wife not to post a review. Now Im reconsidering that decision.

This is my new spot. The food is AMAZING. Not some super sodium filled vegan patty, they make their food with care, and it tastes a LOT like real meat. They make amazing food. I love it here. We are on a roadtrip qnd were looking for something vegan and we saw this restaurant on googlemaps.We arrived at 19:00, it was not so busy, we ordered some starters and 2 main meals, at 19:30 I only received 1 meal. We thought the other food was still in its way but after 15 minutes we asked about it. I think they forgot it.. so they ordered again and the second main course came at 20:00..by that time my meal was ofcours finished..The 2 starters we never received I also didnt asked about it anymore as we were already waiting for 1 hour for our main course.A couple that came in after us received all their food in 15 minutes time and left at 20:00...We had some verry bad luck I thinkBUT the food is amazing and really good!I wish I could go back and try it again but I live in Europe.Try to give a better service and this place is really good!

I would say more lighting the entrance is kind of dark .Also you don’t know if you should wait to be seated or just seat yourself.Portion could be better in some dishes you order .Other than that food is amazing.

This is the only vegan restaurant in Bakersfield where they seat you and take your order at a table instead of you ordering at a cash register and seating yourself. I am so glad that this vegan full-service type restaurant is here now. The food is great as I expected it would be. I ordered the fried wontons, steamed wontons, and chow mein. I loved it. I’ll be coming here every week because their food is great and to support them. Please try this restaurant. If you like it please support it by being a regular customer otherwise like so many other restaurants they won’t make enough to stay in business and when you want to have a nice vegan restaurant to go to in Bakersfield you won’t have one.

And let me tell you there food is soo delicious and nicely presented there menu is a couple pages long! just went today and had there soy chicken chow mein and my partner had coconut shrimp and it was a real treat although if you do go now be prepared they are just getting back up to business so expect some delays mind you there customer service is nice! So let’s support our local vegan restaurants and give them a try !!

I’ve been vegan for 6 years now and slowly bakersfield has gotten more and more vegan food. This restaurant was amazing. The meat texture was better than any vegan meat i have tried. My boyfriend is not vegan and is picky when it comes to vegan food and he thought the food was amazing.I am so excited for this restaurant and will be a regular customer there.
