Yummy Desi Food in SF!! Loved their papadum (ask to put chaat masala to elevate the flavors), damn good chai, mango lassi, pakoras.. also really enjoyed their chili kulcha and paneer tikka korma. Great options for non-vegetarians too .Special mention to the hosts, they are super welcoming and warm!!

February 2022:Enjoyed a pleasant meal here. Saw this place on Check Please and wanted to give it a try. The lady who greeted us was very friendly. Asked if we were vaccinated but didnt check our credentials. ☹️We ordered the dal, bengan bartha (eggplant), saag paneer, naan, and roti. Everything was tasty. We asked for medium spicy but it was weird in that both the saag paneer and the bengan bartha had chunks of green colored peppers (serrano maybe?) that was quite spicy hot. I would have preferred the hotness to be more subtle. Also the food was only lukewarm. I would have preferred the food to be warmer.I liked the roti. Very tasty.All in all, rating four ⭐ because of the areas of improvement noted. Id come back again to try the place again.

Food is amazing.Rasoi’s Rogan Josh, my all time favorite. Shrimp Vindaloo very close to my favorite but… taking 2nd place. Tandoori prawns are bomb.If I’m permanently vegetarian, Paneer Tikka Korma all the way.The service: 10/10. Super friendly and chill waiters/waitresses.I’m a frequent customer already. We were 3 days in San Francisco and ate twice at Aslams Rasoi (because they were a day closed). Sonja is so nice for her clients. She gave tips about the city and helped us finding an Uber. Her father in law made us the best indian food weve ever eaten. So sad that we are from Belgium and will never taste this great food again.

Hands down the best biryani in town! All ingredients are very fresh and the taste reflects that. Several vegan options available. Staff is extremely nice and attentive. Family owned business with the chef and owner still spending his day in the kitchen and will welcome you with a smile and a wave all the way from the back when you walk in! A must try place in the mission!

I thought that the Rogan Josh and the garlic and basil naan were really terrific. A spice level of 4 on a scale of 1 to 5 was great for me, spicy but the faintest flavors came through. The service could not have been better. It’s too bad that at 6 PM on a Thursday they were only a few diners. This is an excellent restaurant, spacious inside, and reasonably attractive.

Great spot that I saw recommended as having some of the spiciest curries in SF. Got a 4/5spice level veg biryani, 5/5 lamb curry, 6/5 chicken curry. Spice level was a bit low, so will have to try to negotiate a high heat level next time I stop in.Highlight of the meal was the garlic naan - some of the most well prepared naan Ive had in SF. Service was welcoming as well. Not much by way of atmosphere.

Sonja/Sonya is so kind and inviting! They have given great suggestions and recommendations. There are plenty of Indian restaurants in this neighborhood but honestly this is top of the top. The murgh makhani may have been the best entree of food I’ve ordered! Don’t forget to get the goat cheese naan!

Outstanding! I went here with a group of my friends and this was by far one of the best meals Ive ever had.The service was incredible! The staff is extremely friendly and is top notch when it comes to running a restaurant. And when it comes down to the food, it was out of this world. Ive been to other places before that have had some pretty good traditional Indian dishes. But this place, they easily hit 10/10. The lamb is perfect go the point it almost melts in your mouth.I highly recommend this place if you are looking for fantastic food and an incredible staff.

Well-made Indian food. Nowadays they know me and actually give me real spicy food. The Chicken Jalfreezi is my go-to, but when Im with friends or just not feeling like the full body experience, the Navrattan Korma is a favorite (vegetarian, and has cashews and pineapple), as is the Paneer Tikka Korma. Im a personal believer in no rice, just naan, but your mileage may vary. (I once saw a friend pick up rice with the naan... but he was also ordering his food mild, so nothing about his methods would correspond with my recommendations.)I recommend the pickles (achar pachranga) as well, and the raita.But everything is good, and theyre super friendly, and you should give them your money.

If I could give this restaurant more starts I would! The food is absolutely exceptional!!! Not only are the ingredients quality, but the aroma of each dish are mouth watering. I frequently visit Aslam’s Rasoi for lunch and dinner and I have never ordered something that I didn’t like. Every dish is great- from vegetarian to sizzling meat plates, they execute it every time. The service is also outstanding. The servers are outgoing, caring, and so sweet. I love that I can also see what’s going on in the kitchen through the clear windows! Love love love this place!

I went to Aslams Rasoi tonight for my birthday with my Mom, sister and her fiancee. We were all blown away at how good the food was. Every single thing they brought us was great. Absolutely the best naan Ive ever had anywhere. The cook was in top form tonight across the board. And our server Sonia was soooo friendly and on top of things. I love this place. :)

They are very friendly and eager to please!I ordered a pizza that had three toppings including olives and when they forgot the olives they took care of it before even bringing me my order. We learned about this restaurant via Check Please show and were quite disappointed. The quality of food was good but the service was very poor. The service was clearly way overwhelmed initially. The server was polite but inattentive and messed up our order. We had a larger group for a birthday dinner. The service continued to suffer through the course of dinner despite a crowd that thinned down. I found it to be very pricey for the amount of received. They had no dessert available which seemed especially awkward and disappointing for a birthday celebration.This is actually the first negative review of a restaurant Ive ever written. We went here for New Years Eve and the food was delicious. They had some very unique and interesting flavors for the curry, meat and rice dishes. They were very accommodating for a table of 10 and I was able to book a spot a few hours before arriving. Good place for big groups.

I tried this restaurant for the first time tonight, and I was greeted by the wonderful Sonia who could not have been sweeter and more lovely! I saw them on the show Aslams Rasoi: Check, Please! Bay Area reviews and really got intrigued and wanted to come and personally try the food with my family. And luckily i was most certainly not disappointed and in fact in my humble opinion i think that this restaurant for sure makes it in the top 5 list of best indian restaurants in the bay area hands down. They have an open kitchen and all their food is halal which is extremely important to my family and i. I got some samosas, chicken saagwala and karahi gosht and wow was the food phenomenal! Some of the best indian food i have ever tried in my life! I got to meet the owner and his son Assad and they were some of the most humble and down to earth people you could ever meet. They showed us nothing but love and hospitality. Will for sure be coming to this restaurant again in the near future with my family much love and blessings to Assad and his father!

Have been to many great Indian restaurants in the bay area, and I wouldnt go back to this one or recommend this place to anyone. My first experience at this restaurant was really poor, so my review is based on the same.What made the experience horrible was the interaction with one of their staff members, Ernesto. While placing the order, my friend had asked if we will get some onions, (which is normally the case in Indian restaurants where they provide onions and mint sauce already on table). The server said yes and later returned with food, mint sauce and smallest portion of onions. When we got the bill, we realized the onions were charged as Onion salad, and we called Ernesto to clarify, but he was outright rude. Honestly we didnt even mind paying for it, if only he had spoken to us properly. He just insisted that its a part of the menu, so its a charged item and we asked him to show that, because we were sure its not on the menu. After checking, he couldnt find it to be in the menu either. Only for the sake of arguing, he also commented the restaurant also has a minimum 15 dollar per person but we are not asking you for that. Firstly, that rule doesnt even make sense, and secondly we told him its then their responsibility to set that expectation while seating the customer. Even after all this, he continued to be rude which was honestly the first time any of us experienced this kind of curt behaviour by restaurant staff with their customers.As for the food, we had asked it to be spicy, which we normally do (as restaurants here tend to be more conservative when it comes to spicy food). The food was so full of cut green chillies that made it really hard on the stomach for all of us and made all of us sick that night. It wouldve been nice if server clarified or asked for level of spiciness, or even for the chefs to know how much level of spice is beyond normal in food.

Came here about 45 mins before they closed and they were really nice about it. The food was very flavorful and the curries were very creamy. For one of the dishes that came out, I immediately smelled all the buttery aromas in the air. I am usually not a huge fan of mango lassi but this one was pretty good. Their salty lassi is also really good. It goes well with almost any dish you order. Its very cooling, refreshing, light flavor and the perfect palette cleanser for all their spicy dishes. (Im not great with spicy). The waiters were really nice and had some nice recommendations as well.

We went in with a group of 14 people on a Saturday evening. The food was great - the samosas with the chutneys, bhindi curry, dal saag, baingan bharta, navaratan korma. The food is authentic Indian without being too spicy. It is very good simple food. The service was slow, very slow(probably because we were a large group?) hence the 4 star. Nevertheless, recommend the place.

The most authentic & delicious Pakistani-Indian food I have ever eaten. The mouth watering smoky flavor from the traditional coal fired tandoori clay pot ovens and the sound & smell of the sizzling platters let you know youre in for a big treat, Chef Mohammed has the most delicious sauces,freshly baked nan, freshest ingredients, creamy delicious mango lassies,good selection of wines & ice cold domestic & imported beer(Taj-Mahal) theyve got you covered. This is our second time at Aslams. We all can’t say enough about the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff and the service. What’s good? Everything!!! Aslam prepares his food with love. The lamb kebab dish took this restaurant from 4 to 5 stars. They offer a typical selection of yummy Indian/Pakistani food, but the lamb dish is great. Its very tender and just cooked perfectly. Try with a veggie dish like okra.

The kind of Indian place that may only appeal to non-Indians. The food was brought out so quickly there was no way it could have been freshly prepared. 5 minutes to cook a lamb biryani and daal saag. The lamb was overcooked and flavorless and the biryani oily and made with non-authentic ingredients. The paratha wasnt cooked all the way through. Minor saving graces were the roti and daal but barely. 2 stars had this been a $ restaurant but such food for the price was nothing short of a joke. We decided to skip the beer and try the rasoi chai. Ive made bad chai in my life by overboiling the tea grinds but this was wayyy worse. Average service with the waitresses asking to take your plates before they were empty. It was an hour and a half before closing time but it looked like they couldnt wait to be done and shut shop.

This is one of the better indian restaurants in the mission district! they have amazing non veg and veggie dishes. Id personally recommend the lamb curry, the aloo saag and the okra curry! One of the good things about this place besides the food & the ambience is that it is one of the few places open after 10.. I have been here many a times and no regrets! :)

Overall the food tasted pretty good but for the price I expected more quantity. If you are to come I would recommend the chicken biryani. The mango lassi was good but $6! The aloo gobi was also good but ridiculously expensive for a tiny dish of curried cauliflower. The lamb vindaloo was very very dry. Aslams has some of the most delicious Indian food I have ever had. Their naan is to die for (especially the goat cheese), and their curries are all phenomenal. The paneer tikka masala, saag panner, and all of the tandooris are a few of my faves. I have definitely never left here hungry! Excellent. Do yourself a favor and skip the pompous, loud sizzling (although Im sure very delicious) tandoori and go the veg dishes at this exceptionally authentic Indian spot! I got the bhindi masala and (homemade) paneer makhani. The paneer is wonderfully textured with a deep, spicy sauce. The bhindi (okra) is spicy and followed by slight sweetness from the sautéed onions and red peppers. Dont miss the goat cheese naan!

DEE-LICIOUS. Started with the Bombay Pakoras and Samosas - both very tasty. The boy and I shared the Murgh Makhani and Pulao. We had the Murgh Makhani prepared medium hot, and as a girl who likes spice, it was just perfect. Of course, we had to order the Goat Cheese Naan - you dont want to miss out on this! Wasnt too pleased with the service, but the food? Go try it, you wont be disappointed.

The best indian food in SF.I know, those are big words, but its so damn true. Its sometimes only good but its usually spectacular. Ive eaten at about 15 indian restaurants in SF. Some are really good, but none are this good.Enjoy!

If you want to pay a lot for bad food, this restaurant is the place to be. Horrible tea and poorly heated food that is brought to you in minutes. The paratha was undercooked and daal was lukewarm. Extremely bitter chai which was again, barely warm.

This is some of the best indian in the city. Besides Dosa, I would dare say it is the 2nd best in the city. Fresh and flavorful. The owner is super nice and friendly. Everything is just delicious and doesnt have that overly ghee taste as many other restaurant s have.
