I always come here when ever I can the food is fantastic am sad that when I move across country I wont be able to come anymore. Their lamb is fantastic every time I come I try to order something new or different and I have yet to find a dish I did not thoroughly enjoy

What a really great place in an unexpected location within the warehouses. I can say that the spreads were delicious, the Greek salads were perfect, and the sovlaki and Gyro meet was excellent.Service was incredibly fast and on top of everything. we sat outside and enjoyed the nice breeze and smell of spring.we started with the three spreed options.I had the horitiki salad with Gyro meat. My co-workers went with the Greek salad with chicken sovlaki.and another had the octopus. we also had the Lamb riblets to share. great little place.

Pretty good place. My favorite is the most basic thing: the gyro wrap which comes with fruit or garlic fries (always get fries!) and a side Greek salad for a few extra bucks. Really good but get some extra yogurt sauce. And the olive spread for the fries is great.My buddy got the steak which looked pretty good as well. Maybe I’ll try next time.

A nice little quiet place tucked in the middle of the commercial industrial area of Santa Clara. Mediterranean food is always lovely and healthy and this one is no exception. Very authentic food, good variety of chicken, lamb and beef dishes from Shawarma plates to sandwiches. A decent list of appetizers including a delicious Octopus dish paired with red wine or a Greek beer would be a great start to the meal. Perfect 10 for the waiting staff and I am that the chefs are extremely foodies to be able to make these delicious items on the menu. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Umbrellas are open so sit in the sun, order some appetizers, sip wine and try chicken or lamb kabobs. Finish with a Greek desert like baklava. Its a lovely place for lunch either during weekdays or weekends with family, friends or business colleagues.

We ordered the mixed grill, Mediterranean salad with Gyro, grilled octopus as a starter. And walnut cake and rice pudding as desserts. They were al very good, tastes pretty authentic to us.We came back for lunch, and the place was packed! We got a lamb gyro, spanakopita, and moussaka. The portions are huge for lunch! Dip for fries were good. We just love this place.

Food is great. Service is attentive. Offered free coffee then charged for it. They also automatically charge 20% service fee for a large party (8 people), then add tax on the service fee and still ask for a tip.

Enjoyed a nice lunch here on a weekday. They have tons of outdoor seating with shades for the summer. They do accept reservations as well. The food was good with the highlight being the vegetarian spinach pie. I also liked the falafels and the garlic fries. The portion sizes were perfect and the service was truly amazing.

A very good Greek and Mediterranean fare near Roche, Nvidia, corning, applied materials off Scott Blvd. The have 7-8 parking spots behind the restaurant. Great falafel, dolmas. Blueberry olive humus is a must try

I am sort of biased about Athena Grill. I have been going here for at least 15 years and have seen many changes. The Athena Grill today is putting out food almost like the first time I ate here.Outside dining is available at this time but because of the red/orange tier levels, there is in door dining.The food can be fantastic to good. Every place has a bad day but for the most part the food is very good. I enjoy the sample plate when I cant decide and the wife seems to order the gyro plate at every opportunity.Service used to be great, now just slightly above average.Still a most try for greek cuisine.

Athena grill is a good place to hangout with friends and enjoy tasty Mediterranean food. The food is very filling and delicious. We went as group of 14, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We tried out the spanakopita, falafel plates, couple of different meat plates as well. The service can be rated as first class.

The restaurant always looks busy, so I thought I would try it. I ordered few items. The only good thing was the octopus salad. The other dishes we ordered were not as expected.The bread and hummus that were served before the food were good, actually the best part of the experience. The staff were not professional also. First time here! Came here with my coworkers to eat with a visiting executive from our company. The service was great, servers were attentive and refilled our waters very quickly! The food did not take long to come out (about 15 minutes or so)!I ordered the swordfish and I have to say everything on the plate was amazing that I cleaned the plate (except for the two blocks of cheese and one olive LOL)! Definitely recommend this place if you have about an hour+ lunch break :)

Authentic Greek. Excellent Mediterranean flavors. Long lines during weekday lunches...Its now 2022 June, well past the peak of COVID - no lines yet during weekday lunches.They now have full table service, order and payment. Athena grill is one of the if not the best Greek place in all of California. I have been going here for years and everything is always delicious. One time they were a bit overwhelmed and threw in some free desserts for the minimal wait we had. Their atmosphere is fantastic usually quiet. The service of Athena Grill was really nice and the waitress was very well mannered, we had ordered a falafel wrap and chicken souvlaki with garlic fries. The garlic fries was not very good, it was not fresh, the falafel wrap did not have any hot sauce or sour cream and tomatoes was not chopped properly, and the chicken souvlaki was very bland and had no taste.

Good ambience, good food and variety, casual place, outdoor seating. They have variety options for vegetarians chicken, seafood, lamb, pork, beef. They serve pita and hummus upon arrival. We went for dinner, it was not crowded and we waited really long to get our main course but otherwise overall good experience.

It was a big disappointment 😞Looks like Covid changed the quality and recipesThe juicy biftekia I crave for was changed to simple thine burger petty over cooked and smirred with garlic butter . It was so bad that I left half on the tableThe falafel plate came with only 4 balls that are overcooked almost burnAnd top it all, they charged 50c on additional spread I asked forService was not around. Once the server asked about my experience and turned around once I told him I was disappointed, I hoped he would send the manager, but this did not happenI forgot to take pictures

We came here from out of town and my wife and I were feeling Greek food so we found this place and I have nothing but good things to say the atmosphere for one is very well themed with colors music and all so her and I ordered gyros with garlic fries house salad and grape leaves and the food was amazing also the staff was very friendly and got our food to us in a very timely manner I will definitely come back next trip we take out here my phone was dead otherwise I woulda taken pics of the food because it looked just as great as it tasted

Classic San Jose greek food. It’s basically like the sit down version of nick the greek, but better. Lots to choose from and lots to eat. Halal is also an option if you require that. Service is good but plz be nice to them if theres only 1-2 waiters when they are busy. Theres a limited parking lot but plenty of street parking. The gyro wraps is a good classic

I got lamb souvlaki plate and my gf got gyro wrap. They also bring complimentary plates, and my review for each here:Complimentary plates:They bring complimentary salad, humus and pita plate. They have deep fried pita (they call it chipped pita) which was included in the complimentary pita plate and it is delicious! They were kind enough to bring more of chipped pita when we asked for it. There was too much garlic in the hummus, it was like a garlic paste as opposed to hummus lol. But hey it was complimentary.Main plates:Lamb souvlaki tasted a bit dry, but it was still okay. It comes with rice and veggies. The gyro in my gfs wrap was delicious, it was thick yet tender. It came with fries which were also delicious.I should also add that service here was great, it was quick and the server was very responsive.

The food here is very good. A little pricy, but it definitely is quality and made with love. Everything was delicious. The portions were just right and the ambiance of the restaurant was interesting. A picture on the wall shows the owner carrying the Olympic torch in a relay event and a replica of the torch he carried also adorns the wall. It is very charming and worth a shot if you like Greek/Mediterranean cuisine!

Traditional San Jose greek food. Basically, its better than the sit-down version of Nick the Greek. There are many options and options for food. If you must have halal, that option is also available. Please be kind to them if there are only 1-2 waiters while they are busy even though the service is good. There isnt much parking in the lot, but there is enough on the streets. A good classic is the gyro wrap.

First visit after seeing this place reviewed on Check, Please! Bay Area and the shows unanimous positive reviews were spot on.Decided to have a weekday lunch, went early, around 11:20a to beat the peak lunch crowd. The ordering line gets long very quickly around 11:45a and available table seating sparse soon thereafter.My wife ordered the Swordfish Souvlaki Wrap and I the Lamb Souvlaki Plate. The swordfish wrap was a bit messy to eat by hand with the fish and sauce juices dripping. The fish was seasoned well, not overly salted. Overall, delicious. The lamb plate came with a Greek style salad, sauteed veggies, decent portion side of rice, single kabob of well seasoned lamb. Again, tasty and enjoyable.We plan to revisit and try other dishes.

One of the best Greek restaurants Ive ever eaten at outside of Greece! I was in a party of three, and every dish any of us had, from apps to mains, was truly excellent. The decor feels very traditional as well, creating an ambience that matches the superb flavors. In short, if I lived locally this would be the spot where I brought all my visitors/guests, and I would eat there multiple times per week myself!

Expensive for the quantity and quality of food. Fish wrap needed sauce with more kick as taste was flat, but nothing whatsoever on the table. Fries that came with Spanakopitas plate were minimal. Two dishes without beverage came to $40 (cash payment) and two persons left hungry still. (Save 3.5pct by paying cash instead of credit card)

I’ve been going to Athena Grill for past decade, off and on. It’s a great lunch spot for friend and colleagues to meet up for a quick lunch. Food is well portioned and delicious. I’d suggest get there by 11:45pm to avoid crazy traffic. But during Covid they have changed ordering system. You don’t get in line to place an order, you simply grab a table and someone comes by to take your order. It was fast and efficient with restaurant at 30% capacity. I recommend this place highly.

Went here for a late lunch, it was pretty crowded. There was only one waiter who was servicing everyone, he was doing the absolute best! He was very friendly, attentive, refilled our waters, always asked how we were doing— that aside everything else was downhill from there. The glasses were dirty, mine had black particles on the bottom of the glass. The calamari platter had about 6 small pieces on it, the Tsatsiki sauce wasnt fresh, the french fries were soggy, and the gyro pieces of meat were absolutely not greek style. I really wished this place was better, but I will not be coming back here again.

Spanakopita taste was a little off and somewhat bland. Whatever oil or butter was used in it tasted old. The garlic fries were lukewarm at best. He came up to our table and told us about his experience being an Olympic torch bearer in Greece. (Theres a torch on the wall so it wasnt out of the blue.) Overall, we had a blast. Went to this place for the first time, yesterday, because my family saw them on Check Please Bay Area. We went here to celebrate a birthday and were hugely disappointed.The visit was on Friday 8/14/18, at about 5:00pm . The place wasnt busy.The food was average at best, but average is being nice.The complementary meze hummus was the best item we ate. It tasted like it was made in house.As for our meals.. I had the Gyros Plate. It had a generous amount of meat, tomato and red onion flooded with tzatziki sauce. A little restraint on the sauce would have been nicer. The meat was ok tasting andvedible. The side of Garlic fries had zero taste of garlic, was cold and limp and inedible.Another member of my family had a plate with fish and shrimp of some kind and was also hugely disappointed. Way too much oil on the plate.No server came to ask how everything was, because we would have told them our fries were cold, limp, and didnt taste of garlic.We couldnt get out of here soon enough.We had hopes we could find a new place we could enjoy and place in our dining rotation, but this was a huge miss for my entire family.

The location was surrounded by office business buildings so it makes it hard to find parking, but considering the food well it was worth the effort to try it. The New York streak was delicious and it was cook right...only advice i will say is to fix the plate better...it was very sloppy.

Tl;Dr: great food, even better service.While waiting in the typically long lunch rush wait line, I was approached by whom I can only assume is the manager and he told me to watch where he goes. He then meandered through the full tables in the room to a small side table. At this place he looked back to me and gave me a thumbs up, after this gesture he placed a metal Reserved card on the table. This isnt something that has happened to me everytime Ive been there, but it shows that they care about the wait time customers face when trying to eat here. They have your typical Greek staples and if you like Greek food, you will enjoy this place.

I am the kind of person who really will drive hours for a bowl of chili. Im not a three-star restaurant kind of a person; Im just a food person. Nora EphronI have been eating lunch here for past 10 years, great place to eat Greek food. Long line at lunch time but worth it. The owner makes you feel at home and will help anyhow he can. I think, he enjoys hanging out with his customers and he is nice to his staff.

Came here for lunch with a coworker. Expect a line out the door during week day lunches, but just know that it moves quickly! Got the octopus appetizer and a chicken salad. Huge portions, fresh ingredients, and relaxing atmosphere! Will be back for more

Years ago it was a great place for good Greek food but sadly with he years the prices went up and the quality went down. The food is very average, the service is nothing to write home about. I got the gyro wrap which is ok but the fries it came with were horrible dry and overcooked. Much better for a quick lunch is Nick the Greek or Agape for restaurant setting.
