I’ve enjoyed living in Avalon. The leasing office is responsive, neighbors are kind and the location is convenient to BART stations, bus stops, grocery stores and restaurants. Cali was a great help to the whole moving process! She was very kind and responsive. When I checked in the apt, the apt had some small things to fix but they addressed it quickly. The only improvement suggestion is that I wish the maintenance team can respond to requests more timely but the staff are very responsible when they come to fix stuff so understand if they’re busy.

Ive had a good experience living here in Avalon Union City. This review is to give a major shout out to Eryn Thompson in the leasing office who not only simplified the leasing process for me recently, but when I had a UPS parcel missing in the thanksgiving parcel craze, she was kind enough to go through several hundred parcels in the Amazon Hub Locker manually, and find my parcel for me, which had really important contents that were hard to replace. Thank you Eryn!There are several advantages of living in the complex. The proximity to BART, walkable grocery stores, easy access to I-880 and Dumbarton bridge, central location to other bay area cities, big size pool, well maintained hot tub, well stocked gym, maintenance requests attended to quickly by diligent staff, but like any apartment complex, there are issues that come up from time to time that need addressing. The kind and efficient team in the leasing office here make it easier to address these issues, which makes living here convenient for me.

I had a great move in experience at Avalon. Rashmi from the leasing office was just great. She made sure I was taken care of and properly guided right from touring the property, signing the lease and moving in. She also followed up on my open items post move in.Also, having lived in another Avalon property for the past 6 years, I know their maintenance was top notch. Post move in, I had a light and a dishwasher issue. Kelvin attended to both very promptly and he quickly fixed them both. A big shout out to Kelvin as well.

Ive been living here for over two years. It used to be very good. However, it has declined significantly. Safety is a major concern - break-ins of the mail room, package room and storage room. Another issue is the smoking. This is supposed to be a smoke-free community. However, the management is unfortunately unwilling or incapable of enforcing it. Not continuing here for sure.

Its been almost two weeks since move-in to Avalon Union City. Overall experience is very good so far.To be specific, I got many help from Cali Paez (community consultant) including tour, move-in process, and setting up utilities after move-in. She is nice and responsive. When she was out for her vacation, she hand me over to her colleague to make my move-in process smooth. Seems like the leasing office is working as a team. Lastly, the apartment complex is clean and safe.Thank you Cali and Avalon Union City leasing office team.

Visited Avalon Community in union city on 11/13/23. We parked at assigned spot for new resident with necessary tags while touring the community with our resident friend for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, management got our car towed without any warning and it cost me 550$ to get my own car out. In addition to that, we got to hear verbal abuses from Tow truck driver and their management. So much fun!! would not recommend it though.Please save yourself from this predatory practice and find better community to live!!Thanks Avalon for ruining holidays for us.

My family and I had a great experience with our leasing process. Rashmi was so helpful! She made the move in process go smoothly and was always available to help. Its been a week now that weve moved in and we are loving it. We had one of the maintenance worker, Kelvin Wong, come in late at night to fix out bathtub and he went ABOVE AND BEYOND! He was able to catch a leak and fix it, even though it was so late. He made sure he did everything he could to fix whatever needed to be fixed. Thank you, Kelvin! You are truly the best.

On September 1st I moved into AvalonBay Union City apartment complex. I haven’t slept for a single night because of the frustrating noise inside the unit especially in the bedroom.The leasing office did not inform me of this situation during my tour of leasing the day one. After I moved in I noticed that the unit is sharing a wall with the pool electrical room which is where the noise is coming from because There is a 24/7 pump noise behind the wall inside the bedroom.I belive this level of noise can harm the hearing of any resident who decides to live here. It might also cause serious stress and anxiety issues.I spoke with the Sales and Service Supervisor and came to a conclusion that the person who was giving me a tour on the day one should have notified me of this situation but they have hesitated to do so.I decided to notify the leasing office immediately about this problem. So I contacted the supervisor and the way the leasing office followed up the issue was very unpleasant and unacceptable. After several follow-ups they offered me to move into another unit but asked me to stay in the current unit for 30 days.How can anyone live in a unit with that level of noise? also without unpacking my stuff for a month?I had to leave from work several times a day just to deal with this issue which has caused me a lot of frustration.I complained to the leasing office too many times and they have suggested me to move into another unit. Now i have to spend more money to hire a worker and a truck to get my stuff moving to the new place since the leasing office have refused to cover the moving cost when I asked them to do so. I am totally displeased because of this situation.Why should I spend more money to hire another person to help me with moving my stuff again just because the leasing office has not done they’re job right and have been totally dishonest with me.I haven’t unpacked my stuff since day and still have not gotten a chance to buy any furniture for my living space.This is truly not what I was expecting from Avalon.I am extremely disappointed and will definitely take action towards this issue since this problem has cost me a lot not only mentally but also physically and financially.

Rented an apartment here for 14 months. The apartment and building are fine, proximity to bart is convenient, and overall building felt safe. The big downside is that the building management is awful. A quick non-exhaustive list:- Landlord fixes to major problems including a leak in our bathroom ceiling caused by the upstairs persons bathtub overflowing.- If you need emergency maintenance outside of office hours youll get some kid show up 2 hours later with a bucket and no clue.- They laid glue for new carpet outside our apartment over an hour before the work was supposed to start so we had to walk through it to get to work on time. Our dog also had to walk through it to come in from his walk and it was very hard to get off his paws.- Charged us for $200+ cleaning services when we moved out even though we already had the place cleaned including carpets.- They basically made it impossible to quickly get in contact with anyone in the office. You have to create an appointment (which are very limited) instead of being able to walk into the office. Have had to knock on their door for 10+min multiple times because things are broken that need immediate fixes (e.g. building 34 fobs not working so you cant get in the doors, elevator not working at the same time as the only other elevator in the building is under maintenance). Ironically they marketed this change as a way to better serve their tenants needs.- Screwed up our credit checks and flip flopped about whether we even got the apartment in the first place then charged us an extra application fee that they refused to get rid of.- Office staff lacked basic customer service for at least the first six months of us living there. I think the two that were particularly arrogant and condescending might be gone now as I havent seen them lately. The woman we gave our notice to was new to the building and helpful unlike the previous people weve dealt with.

2 month Update: The experience has been fine so far. Maintenance is an issue though. The team isnt proactive and has to be nudged a lot to get things done. It seems to be a recent phenomenon though.We just moved in a couple of weeks back and the experience has been good so far. Rashmi was very helpful with all the onboarding formalities. The place is good for people seeking safe and fairly affordable accommodation. We had a few repairs to be done in our apartment and the maintenance staff was prompt and efficient. The gym and pool areas are particularly good. While the community is gated, there are rare instances of doors to the community not locking themselves when used. The maintenance team gets the job done but it surely is an area of improvement especially since the elevators do not require keycard access and anyone getting through these doors can pretty much access all floors.I am looking forward to a good experience during my stay here.

We tried to rent here. Cold hearted building and management. They throw you a key and a map and you are supposed to navigate the huge building yourself. Garbage overflowing, smells bad. Not very clean. Not worth the high rent they charge. Heard from a tenant there are homeless that sleep in lobby, and there have been burglaries and car break-ins in the garage. Will keep looking, thanks.

DONT GO FOR THIS APARTMENT. Before we move out, we cleaned the whole apt up, vacuum the floor etc. we move out weeks before ours move date which mean we didn’t use any utilities. Found out that they charge us almost 300 for utilities and 300 for cleaning. Would not recommend. Ripped off company.

Loving my experience so far with Avalon Union City. Right from the day I toured, walkthrough with leasing staff, application process, verifications, onboarding, key handoff and community touring all done by Cali Paez has been a breeze. Ive lived in many apartments over the last many years of living in Bay area and my experience at Avalon has been the best so far.The community is spacious, very neat and well maintained, clean and brand new. Most apartments also has great views of the beautiful mountains. The community gym is the best, the biggest and well quipped fitness center for an apartment complex. The pool and bbq areas are good too. The security has been great.Oh and my favorite, its literally right next to Union city BART. It cannot get any better than that, especially if you commute to city or take bart often like me. 5 stars! Look no further for your rental needs.

I can only speak from my experience to date.1. I love my apartment. It was recently refurbished, and they did a great job. The apartments are very spacious, and so are the bedrooms.2. The amenities!!! The gym - Great equipment and well maintained. The Package Hub - I love it! The pool- I havent taken a dip yet, but its on my to-do list this summer.3. The staff - PJ was very helpful and accommodating during my leasing and move-in process. James is so helpful and accommodating. He always makes it a point to say hello and, surprisingly, remembers my name! Kyle came in to fix a few things when I moved in. He was helpful and friendly. I must say the staff here are all great. Thus far, all of my interactions with the team have been helpful, friendly, and pleasant.

Look out when you move out.When we’re moving out, Avalon is offering this $180 cleaning package option that you can leave the apartment cleaning to them. We decided to do our own cleaning and didn’t select this option. We cleaned the apartment perfectly for ready move-in condition and scheduled an inspection prior to our moving date with Avalon team to confirm that there are no maintenance issues or broken items. Even during the inspection, avalon still try to ask us to sign up for the $180 cleaning package for “assurance”. We refused and did a deep cleaning ourselves. After moving out, our security deposit was deducted by a $235 cleaning bill. This is not acceptable and Avalon does not respond our request to show evidence of the cleaning. How can you spend $235 on cleaning a ready to move in apartment while your cleaning package offered $180 only to clean a messy one???Avalon is just trying to get money out of you and if you don’t give them $180 upfront, no matter how many effort you put down in cleaning your apartment, expect to have $200 bill to you because you did not buy their cleaning package.As a tenant renting so many apartment in the past, this is the first time my security deposit is not returned in full. So disappointed.

We recently moved to this place and find it to be super quite and spacious. The community is pretty well maintained and has all the amenities one can look for. Specially the gym is pretty huge with all necessary equipments required for a good workout. The maintenance staff is also good completing all your requests on time.Pro-tip: Before renting out any new place, make sure to click all the pics of any dents/ marks etc. in the apartment and share beforehand with the owner. This will avoid any unnecessary deductions in your security deposit when you move out

Avalon union city is an utter dangerous place to live. The 4.4 rating doesn’t represent the true current state of the place. Too many break-ins, extremely poor management that tows cars without notice, doesn’t fix any issues reported, wouldn’t address the broken parking garage gate …list is endless ! We lived in Avalon Union City for close to 3 years and spent our best time here. I truly miss living there. Our apartment had 2 beds 2 baths, was on the 5th floor, had in unit laundry, island in the kitchen, faced the hills and had a beautiful view of the city. They are recently constructed buildings with lots of storage space, the convenience of its location (right next to bart station, walking distance to so many shops & restaurants) & best amenities like private parking in garage, amazon hub, gym, swimming pool.The best thing about living in this community is the staff. Management staff are all very friendly & helpful. Most recently I was helped by James, Farrah, Rashmi who were very considerate & helpful. Service Staff, especially Kelvin are also very helpful. I still remember the day I moved in, the previous resident did not move out on time, so I had to wait for an extra day to move in. All the management & service staff prepared a card for me & delivered along with a cake! They also reimbursed 1 day rent for me.Thank You team Avalon Union City for making our stay beautiful & pleasant. I miss you guys!

I’ve been living in these apartments for 3 years so far and love it. My experience from day one has been amazing. The staff on site is very helpful and kind. The community offers affordable housing which is super helpful (especially in the Bay Area) and our affordable housing specialist Erica Galaviz has been the best. We have lived here for close to 2 years, and have had such a great experience. The management team has been nothing but accommodating, professional and very responsive. They have been such a great help making our move to the a two-bedroom apartment smooth. Shoutout to Matt Andar and PJ Yann who have been with us since we first moved in.1. The apartment community is clean and quiet as well as the surrounding neighborhood. The leasing office always keep residents notified of events/issues. Along with the maintenance team, they are always helpful and reliable to our needs. The amenities we frequented are the gym and pool which are always clean and well-maintained.2. The apartment is adjacent to BART station which had been very convenient for my commute to my previous job. Nearby also is the Charles Kennedy park which we frequented. What’s not to love! Avalon’s Union City apartments is perfect for me. It is a beautifully landscaped property which is well maintained inside and out. It has been my home since 2011. My level of satisfaction is 100%. My experience with the on-site leasing office and maintenance staff has been comfortable, cordial, and professional. There have been personnel changes and technology updates but what has remained consistent is the level of quality customer service. An outstanding example of this is Erica Galaviz. She has patiently assisted me remotely with the new format for my Lease Renewal which has been challenging since I do not have a computer or printer. As I said, “What’s not to love”❣️

Lived here for a year but have to move to east coast due to the work location change. Fair price, nice environment, almost never lose any packages because of the Mail room and the amazon locker.The maintenance team is also amazing here, I submitted a maintenance request for my wash machine in the morning and Jose and Kevin came in the afternoon and fixed it in 10 mins!!There was another young guy helped me on the tub and the AC a while ago but I forgot his name (probably Kyle?), we chatted about Disco Elysium and I shared 2 slices of pizza with him.

I wanted to give a huge shout out to one of the community consultants Keana Sanchez! I lived in the Avalon Community for a full year & decided to move into a 2 bedroom with my partner at the time, unfortunately 8 months into moving in we decided to part ways. With that being said we had to figure out our options with breaking the lease early or being responsible for the lease until it was taken by another resident. Keana did a great job a explaining all of our options & helping us in our final decision, she was confident that she would be able to find a family to rent out the unit we were vacating. Although this option was a huge risk for us at the time I myself felt confident in the fact that she was very good at her job! Throughout the entire process she sent updated emails to reassure me that she was doing her part (which I highly appreciated) A HUGE THANK YOU TO KEANA!

My time at Avalon was amazing! The complex has everything you need, such as safe parking, a gym, and a safe location for packages to get dropped off.The best part of my stay though was the staff. Having lived in many places, I can say that no one was as responsive to my needs as Matt Andar. The application process has been seamless, and that was before it got easier with doing it online, all thanks to Erica Galaviz. Matt Andar assisted us from the very beginning—by giving us the tour and really taking the time to show us around the community (even to the parking garage), helping us with the application process, all the way till move in. Apartments are spacious; there is a package room, amazon hub for secure delivery of packages; gym, swimming pool facilities are excellent. I had the opportunity to meet with one of the new members of the maintenance team Matthew and it was definitely a 5 star experience. I was attempting to take some larger items to the dumpster and Matt was kind enough to help with getting the dumpster open as well as with getting the items to the dumpster from my apartment.I did not open a service ticket to request his assistance; so I really think that this is a great example of the awesome customer service of the team here at Avalon. Ive been really impressed with all of my recent interactions with maintenance team including Eduardo who completed the last few service requests that Ive had. My personal experience is that the maintenance team here does high quality work and are really pleasant to interact with.

This apartment had been our home for the last 9 years and we enjoyed every single day living there. Not only because the unit is so spacious with very organize closets, in unit laundry, island in the kitchen, walking distance to shops and very close to Bart but also the staffs are very helpful and friendly. They are just like family to us. We loved coming to the leasing office just to say Hi and talked to them.Rashmi would always greeted me with her smile every time I entered the leasing office and helped me with our needs promptly with her great working attitude.James is the best manager. He is very professional and respectful.James and Farrah would raised the bar to do whatever they can to help us with all of our needs. 5 stars for Avalon Union City, and why I have called it home for the last 12 years! I love living here! The office team and maintenance team continue to go above and beyond. During this last crazy year full of challenges while in a pandemic, they have changed the security company, added more cameras throughout the community and parking, and are currently remodeling the gym and common areas. Things are looking so nice for when everything can open back up. While everything has been closed due to the pandemic, Farrah has been really creative in what they are offering our community. She has scheduled different food trucks to come weekly (which has been so nice to be able to try different foods every week and not cook), and offered online classes for fitness, art, cooking, games, etc. She has different events for the community every week and has really made them social distant friendly. My son loves to stop by on each holiday because she always has special treats for the residents! We are very appreciative for Farrah and the rest of the Avalon team for always thinking of our community and truly caring!

The maintenance crew is very on top of it! On a Sunday I submitted a service order to get my dishwasher repaired and Angelo came in under 30 mins and got it fixed! Shoutout to Angelo, he was so friendly, followed covid protocol and got my dishwasher fixed in no time! Not to mention he was so personable as well! Would recommend the maintenance crew at Avalon! So far, a great experience with them!Update: So after living here for about 7 months. My car was parking in the GATED Garage and one day, I tried to drive my car out and my catalytic converter was stolen. The main office was not of much help and took many days to respond to my emails until I finally walked in to the office to talk to them about it. They did not bear any responsibility for having a gated garage being unsafe for us residents. All they told me to do was file a police report, talk to my insurance company and they would cooperate with the Union City Police department about the investigation.I asked the office how this makes my family feel unsafe being in a Gated apartment complex with a separate gated garage. We lived at Avalon for over 4 years and were really sad to leave our home when we had to move this year for our jobs. And Farrah is a big reason we felt that Avalon was home for us. She has always been welcoming, warm, understanding and helpful irrespective of the problems Avalon Union City faces. And yes there are a lot of issues with the community in general - being by the bart where homeless people sometimes get in, or solicitors tailgating and disturbing residents are a common occurrence. But these are not issues the leasing office can fully control - especially after-hours. Both James and Farrah have been tirelessly driving to better the community and we as residents have been positive changes over the last few years. We have seen James and Farrah tour the community and get things cleaned up personally. And Farrah totally inspires me by being always so friendly and helpful even after working the number of hours she does and the problems that keep coming up here.We would have loved to stay more and hope that we can in future find a home here. I could always go to her if the dishwasher did not function properly or if there was a noise issue or something and she would ensure things got fixed right away. My family and I lived at Avalon for just about two years, and though we absolutely hated living in the East Bay, the staff at Avalon made our time at least bearable. James and Farrah specifically are dynamite, and whatever they are being paid, they deserve a raise because these are the kinds of people you are lucky to have working for you. Hear that, Avalon Corporate overlords? Any time we had any sort of issue, the office staff were responsive and provided prompt service with kindness and a genuineness you dont find most places, especially in the Bay Area. Farrah always went out of her way to say hello to my son, chat with my husband and myself for a few moments and ask us how we were doing. She is such a nice person. James runs the place well from what I can tell and they take security and safety in the complex very seriously. I saw James once personally confront a shady tailgater who was trying to follow me in to the parking garage while James just happened to be there, and he chased the guy off. It was awesome. So if you have to live in the Bay, this is the place to be. I can say the apartments are spacious, the grounds are kept up well, and the location is good (right next to BART and Safeway) but its the people who make the place. James, Farrah and the awesome maintenance staff (cant remember names, sorry!)

Living here has been such a blessing! It isn’t just for the amenities (pool, gym, Amazon locker, storage overflow room, bbq pits) and the convenience of stores and restaurants close by, but we always have an amazing experience with the staff here, especially with PJ, Matt, James and all the facilities staff. They aren’t just customer-driven, but genuinely friendly, respectful and want to make sure they address your tenant needs.We always receive constant and prompt communications the entire time we have lived here such as updates on facilities work and phone call reminders to pick up our packages.From the friendly onboarding with PJ walking us through the application steps, making sure we set up our individual accounts and moving into a clean place TO Matt helping us add a new person right after our lease was renewed (apparently there’s extra steps) and placing an order for extra keys TO James helping us speak to a tenant we met crying on the premises. I have been living here for just over a year now so that I feel I can leave an honest review of this place. There are some businesses that are just impossible to get high ratings like car dealer shops and apartment communities since you cannot please everyone. However, I can say for sure that the staffs at Avalon Union City do their very best to satisfy everyone.I moved here just before the pandemic and shortly after, i started working from home. Yes, the pandemic cost us not to use gyms and pools, but the staff tries their best to accommodate our needs by providing other activities including food truck Friday, online excercise classes, bingo nights via Zoom, etc.The apartment is clean and safe. The staff is always out to clean the area. They just updated the security and installed bunch of additional surveillance cameras to make sure we are safe from rising crime around the neighborhood (well, it seems crimes have gone up everywhere).The maintenance team is very responsive so you get things fixed in your apartment within a day or two once you submit the work order through the tenant portal.Office staffs are the main reason that I am giving a 5 star review. All of them are very kind and they treat you sincerely. Especially, PJ Yann is the main person you probably get in touch with once you end up living here, and he is by far the best manager that I had from different communities. He remembers you and always look out for you. You are treated like a friend, not just a random customer. Someone should give him a raise.After all, my family originally planned to move out to a bigger place after our one year lease, but we extended the lease for one more year and decided to move to a bigger apartment within the building just because we have been very happy living here at this apartment complex.

We have been living here for almost two years. It has been a great experience. For an apartment, besides the apartment itself, the convenience of its location, and the included amenities, from my opinion, the residents experience highly depends on the interaction with the management team of the apartment. The team here is the best that I have experienced so far.Rashmi is very professional, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, we have to cease our lease earlier than expected. Speaking of it, I have tons of questions regarding to how to sublease our contract, how to choose between penalty and rent responsible when ceasing the lease earlier, how to handling the cleaning, security deposit, moving, etc. She gave as clear as crystal answers to all my questions. Our moving could not be smoother.Of course, others are great as well. James and Farrah always give us timely update about our community. Kelvin/Fred always respond our service requests timely in a very satisfied way. Kelvin is particularly awesome. The central AC was broken in our unit last summer on a day of 102F. He amazingly managed to identify the problem, and fix it in an hour.Its a pity that we have to move away. We will definitely revisit here in the future when we are back!

I am updating my review that was posted several months ago. The initial review was written after a series of break-ins, car thefts, and other security issues that had many residents here on edge. While the problem hasn’t gone away, I’m happy to report that it’s gotten better.The new Amazon HUB lockers are fantastic. No more stolen packages! They’ve cleaned the hallways and sprayed the outdoor stairways clean. They’ve taken a stronger stand against residents smoking in the community. And they’ve even started conducting audits on those who keep garbage on their balconies. James also held a community meeting to discuss security concerns with local police and the security team. While it didn’t solve the community’s issues it did get us talking. All of this has helped make the community feel safer, cleaner, and overall a more comfortable environment for everyone.I appreciate the owner and management taking our initial concerns into consideration and have overall been very happy with the recent changes here. Amazing place to stay. Rashmi was very friendly and helpful during the leasing process. The deposit is extremely low compared to other places. It is easy to pay rent and put in maintenance requests online. It is worth it to pay for the safety provided by Avalon Union City, since it is a gated community. So far I can not hear my neighbors. There is a gym and pool included which are open almost all hours of the day. It is right next to the BART station, Dollar Tree, Safeway, and Starbucks. Parking is included. 4/30/21 update: This issue has been resolved. Thank you to James, Community Manager, for addressing this and checking in along the way. It also looks like many of the community amenities are being upgraded and re-opened just in time for summer, so we are really looking forward to that.Weve been living here for a little over a month now. While we generally like it overall, we have one complaint. However, it is a big complaint.Our neighbor, along with other residents, smoke cigarettes on their balcony multiple times a day despite it being a non-smoking building. Smoke has seeped into our unit every day since weve moved in, at all hours.We sent an email to building management to help take care of the situation. Apparently we werent they only ones experiencing this issue. Shortly after we reached out, they sent out an email to all residents noting that they received numerous feedback from residents that people are smoking in and around the building. They reminded everyone of the non-smoking policy, however, that email was ignored.The smoking persisted so we called management to complain. They told us that they would call the resident (we gave them the specific unit # of the offender) and they also told me that he/she was moving out in 10 days. After 2 weeks, the resident is still here and I called again. They then told me that he/she is moving out in 4 days (?). This was over a week and a half ago and they are STILL here, and are still smoking. We even took matters into our own hands and put a respectful note on our neighbors door to request that they stop smoking, but nothing changed. Clearly they dont care about their neighbors or the building rules and there are no any repercussions. We dont know what to do at this point.

Ive decided to delete my negative review which was written when I was angry. I am sorry. That is not my true feeling about Avalon apartment. I have been here for almost two years. I am very happy 99.99999999% of the time. Rashmi is always helpful. She helped me to find my lost packages in the end. This is an amazing place with amazing people. I had an appointment to lease a unit, and when I was heading out the door for the appointment the leasing agent called me and told me someone had already leased the apartment already and when I asked her why they didn’t inform me that morning she kept saying that it’s first come first serve and that they don’t allow multiple applicants which just doesn’t make sense. She later said that she wanted to wait until the other applicants credit was approved before telling me when she could’ve told me that morning instead of wasting my time like this.. She was rude to me and made me feel like this was my fault when they lied to me because it takes 24 hours for a credit check so her excuses did not add up. When I tried calling back for clarification she kept refusing my calls. I had called the office 8 times. I had someone else call the office from another phone number and she picked up right away. She was deliberately ignoring a prospective renters calls which is completely unprofessional. Beware of the leasing agents here. They’re rude and don’t care about their clients at all. She wouldn’t even help me when I told her I’m interested in a 2 bedroom instead of a 1 bedroom since they were unavailable. She told me she can’t help me with anything and everything has to be done online which is ridiculous.. I felt completely discriminated by this person and hopefully they get fired for this. Which I doubt because they don’t care about anyone but saving themselves when they need to.

This is my favorite apartment complex in Union City. We have been here since the start and are raising 2 young children after swiftly moving to the Bay Area. Staff here at Avalon Union City are not only very professional but also really care about you. They are trying to help you and it shows. Aside from the fact that the building is quiet and good looking, it is also located in a really good location where you can access bart with in 5 minutes walking. I drive to Redwood City for work everyday and that takes me about 45 minutes in the morning and 55 minutes at night. I would say this is probably the best apartment complex i have lived around bay area and a big shoutout to the working staff here.

Ive been living here for more than 1.5 yrs now. I lived in a different apartment community across the street for 2+ yrs before. Given a choice, I would choose Avalon again over others in this Union City neighborhood.Firstly, this is a modern (built, I believe, in 2009) multi-level apartment building with space-efficient floor plans. No more wasted space for fireplaces, which not only do people of this region not use in this day and age, but also they are a nightmare to childproof. The units are also wired for Cat 5e Ethernet. So, you can put your internet modem in the closet and out of sight.Second, Avalon has elevators (it even has a big freight elevator). Having lived in an apartment which did not have one, I can vouch for its utility. Carrying check-in bags, water bottles, groceries, babies, strollers and car seats up and down four flights of stairs is no joke!Third, the management and the maintenance teams are very friendly and efficient. This is not unique to Avalon. But, the way they get to issues reported by residents (there are 450+ units) within the promised 24-48 hrs is truly commendable. Additionally, the common areas and amenities are well maintained.Fourth, admittedly, there have been instances of car break-ins at Avalon in the last year (being located so close to Bart and other commercial activities has its own share of disadvantages), but the management was quick to take feedback and install CCTV cameras in the garages. Im not noticing as many incidents in 2021 as I did in 2020.Update 1: Taking a star off for planned water shutoffs. A day ago, we were informed of a planned event for hot water for up to two hours. It got changed to hot & cold for two to five hours all of a sudden without any notice. Secondly, there have been instances in the past where we would be notified of a event a few days in advance, but after waiting and planning for it, the event moves to the next day. Since the water mains are likely to be same for the entire building which has hundreds of units, many people are inconvenienced for no fault of theirs

Avalon Union City was built in 2009 so quite new and its resort Spanish architecture is pleasant and makes living quite relaxing. Its super convenient location next to BART and buses while also walking distance to Safeway, Marina Asian supermarket and dozens of other stores and restaurants make living fun. Edit 11/7/2019:Recently my packages directed to Amazon Hub had all been turned away and returned to sender. They also announced last week that they would refuse all packages unless the Hub was full, and would refuse heavier packages outright. As usual, they have been ignoring all my inquires including this one. Whatever it is, the current management is lacking good will. Will be looking for another place to live after my contract expires.I have been living here for about a year.Pluses:Office staff is in general friendly, welcoming, and willing to help you. Rashmi is especially patient, nice, and helpful and has assisted me in solving some renewal issue caused by a computer glitch.Location is great for commuters. BART is just steps away. Despite this you can hardly hear BART trains even at night.Amazon Hub! Had to mention this as this thing is a God-send. We used to have packages stolen right in front of our apartment doors. With this wall of high tech (~ish) lockers, almost everything is delivered there, even when it is not from Amazon. Each delivery is password protected and you will never get packages stolen again.Minuses:The Avalon office does not respond to email inquires. When I first moved in, they always responded to my questions and concerns over email. Now for the past few months, they have been ignoring my emails entirely. Not sure what happened. Maybe a change in upper management? Their office hours are short on weekdays and i can only go to their office on Saturday. It would be nice if they could answer my inquiries in email so that I don’t have to wait until the weekend to go to their office in person. It would be more professional too, you know, to not ignore your customers.Crimes. We have had our share of break-ins and thefts. Unfortunately this is one of the results of being very close to BART. Criminals can make a quick and easy getaway hopping over the BART gates after stealing stuff from our apartments.It’s expensive! Even with the cheapest contract terms it is still around the upper range in the area. Maybe it’s the location. They do increase rent every time you renew your contract.The “environmental friendly” shower heads they had us switched to are horrible. The flow is so tiny that it’s like someone is peeing over you. Not sure about others but our shower time has increased substantially ever since they made us switch. Water fees are shared among all residents and I bet they could save more water if they had installed separate meters for each unit, instead of trying to switch to some barely useable shower head.

I have been living in avalon for almost 5 years now and there are definitely good reasons for it. Apart from obvious advantages such as walking distance to bart, grocery store, the part where I am usually impressed is that every apartment looks new. The design suits perfect for everyone.In case of any repairs, fix is almost done immediately making you forget if there was any problem in the first place. The leasing office folks are very kind and living there for a long time now I must say they are always accommodating to your requests. Let me start by saying one thing before, I not writing this review because some one asked me to sugar coat anything. I rarely write reviews for any product or service and I do that only in value of my time and value of the service or product.Avalon is a great community to live in. I have scouted a couple of apartment complexes in Newark, Union City and Fremont before choosing Avalon as my home. Avalon seemed like the best considering the price vs amenities. All the apartment in Avalon are standard a central heating-cooling system, attached laundry room, carpet flooring and kitchen with all equipment (freezer, stove-oven, microwave, dishwasher and garbage disposal.) The apartments are build fairly recently and maintained meticulous by a 24/7 on-site maintenance crew. The complex has common area with pool, sauna, bbq and fitness center which are well equipped and maintained. What is not there here to like to live in Avalon? The rents are comparable to other apartment complexes with similar or even most of the times lesser amenities. Another thing to consider is Avalon Union City is location right next to Union city BART station. It a central location that is closed to public transportation, shopping complexes, restaurants and banks. Hence, i didnt ever regret my choice to live here because, it indeed feels home.During my stay here, I have visited the office more than I can remember and always greeted well. Jennifer Sepulveda and other staff members at the leasing office are great to work and talk to. Everyone in the leasing office treats every single person like a friend, are always ready to listen to problems and happy to help. Its not the amenities that make a good home, its the people who provide the service that make it better and the staff of Avalon Union city go above and beyond to make the customer (you) happy.I did have few inconveniences here and there... and of-course stuff happens all the time. Some of them include,1) my apartment was completely ready on the move in. The additional evaluation took 1 hr and it cost me $110 because movers were waiting for the inspection to compete. But, guess what, Avalon staff reimbursed me that amount in the next month statement because they were responsible for the delay. They could have just ignored my trouble and go on but they didnt. They took ownership of their fault and did their best to resolve it. I even had flowers and chocolates sent to my apartment with a card signed by all staff member apologizing for the inconvenience.2) The boiler broke down twice and there was no hot water supply for an entire day. This happens and no once can anticipate the issue. But, Avalon Union City was quick to resolve the issues thereby minimizing the inconvenience to userSo, the bottom line is, there will be issues no matter where you live but, the way your troubles are addressed actually make a lot of different about how you feel about the people and community. Avalon Union city did an outstanding job in keeping up to its reputation in customer service. I really recommend everyone to consider Avalon Union City for your future housing needs. The only reason i am moving out is because i am moving out of state. Thanks for your time...

Am a resident who lives here for two years.I love how convenient the location is and Avalon has excellent service on a fast response in every meaning.BUT.Read your lease.I do not feel it is really welcome pet lovers.For example, there is a little park inside of the apartment, but it is not for your pet.I received the email from the manager it indicates:I wanted to send another reminder out for all of our dog owners in the community. When walking your dog please take them to the exterior of the community to do their business. Once they finish their business it is your responsibility to clean up after them. Residents that can not follow these simple guidelines will be asked to remove their pets from the community.I have following response for that1. Most dog owners DO pick up after their dog. I have two dogs, And I carry waste bag all the time.2. I have moved in here with dogs and the leasing office did not tell me there is an area where I could not bring my dogs.3. Instead of telling what residents should not do, the leasing office has a lot to do, for example, set up a supervision camera, and check the record, it is easy to identify irresponsible dog owners and also increase the safety inside of the apartment.4. Set up more lighting in the park area. It is easier to see in the night so dog owner could SEE their pet waste.5. We also pay rent and these little areas do not only belong to people who live closer in there.SO PLEASE LET THE RESIDENT TAKE OFF THEIR SIGN.(Leasing office has noticed we do not suppose put anything in the balcony but they feel OK about it has a sign about no welcoming dogs)I asked if they know there is a sign, they say yes they do know but it is OK.I do feel it is just a gesture to say we welcome pet owners, it has no real deep remaining.

Angelo came over a few weeks ago to help fix our broken garbage disposal under the kitchen sink, which was causing the sink to clog. He fixed the disposal which solved our clogging issue. The property manger was super sweet before we signed the lease, and after we signed the lease she was super rude. She got irritated just because we asked a few questions and she raised her voice in front of us. I dont expect this kind of behavior from a property manger whose job is to answer our questions during the move in process. Stay away from this building and the property manager in particular. Theyll only be nice to you until you sign the lease and then theyll treat you like animals.

You will become very familiar with the following statement: ATTENTION ATTENTION AN EMERGENCY HAS BEEN REPORTED IN THIS BUILDING. It tends to go off around 3 am for +-30 minutes as you wait for the fire or police department to end the false alarm. They let you know it was a false alarm but we already know that because it happened at least 20 times since we moved in.the neighborhood is terrible. Dont be fooled by all the nice landscaping this is the ghetto. Cant think of anything good to say about the place.$3000 per month to be in prison. Youll have to decide for yourself if its worth it.

He just recently did a couple jobs at my place, he was very expediate and the job was done with excellent concern and care, hes always easy to talk to and is always willing to assist you on the spot if necessary, he had his sidekick Derrick Alforgue with him,both these employees were very very professional in their duties.I must also acknowledge Mr KevinTurner Ive seen many maintenance personnel come and go,but Mr Turner goes above and beyond to assist this property and the residents, Ive seen Mr Turner in the rain with a picker picking up paper with a bucket on several occasions, Ive witnessed him monotoring the pool area on his off time, asking questions to guest to assist them. Hes always concerned with any needs that you have . I watch him as he interact with other residents, hes always dressed professionally, clean cut and very mannerable, polite and especially kind to all the residents. I must acknowledge, Mr Donato Salubides, I think hes one of the fastest moving maintenance employees Ive ever met, hes always moving, doing a great job with keeping up with his duties, Mr Donato is always friendly and is very professional and courteous to the residents. My husband and I are into our 4th year living in Avalon.One of the main reasons for coming here is that we didn’t want to be bothered with upkeeping and maintaining a private residence. Avalon’s outstanding, knowledgeable maintenance crew managed by Ashley and headed by Troy does just that for us. No matter if it’s an appliance problem or a burned-out light bulb, help is but a phone call away and problem fixed in no time flat. Actually, in the 3+ years that we’ve been here, there hasn’t been any major problems at all, because fire alarms, sprinklers, pipes, etc. are routinely inspected anyway.Furthermore, for any concerns other than maintenance, the friendly, personable, front office personnel – Jenni, Megan, etc. -- is always ready to listen and take care of whatever.Thanks, Avalon, for making it possible for us to live hassle-free, with peace of mind.

Nice enough apartments and conveniently located but in the short time Ive been a resident there seems to be a large focus on profits and none on complex security. They got rid of the security and installed cameras. The cameras are great for reliving the crime they capture but not much else. Except 1-2 hard working people, other officers will treat you as you are living at them home and they are feeding you. No matter what they won’t let guests in even during the working hours. Two times they did not let my father in the leasing office, my father was staying outside until I reached. Just because he doesn’t know English and treated as a thief by LEASING OFFICER.As a resident, when you try to ask for any information about the leasing policy, they won’t give you proper answer unless you ask them more than 2 times and tell them how serious you are. I don’t want to tell more than this.If you do not need any respect or professional treatment from the leasing office, then you can safely ignore this side and live your life.

Ashley has the best customer service Ive seen in a long time, she answered all if our questions promptly and professionally awesome.I must say I failed to thank her coworker Farrah as well, being a business owner I often engage various people in my travels, we had an issue that I didnt think could be easily solved and Farrah stepped up to the plate coming up with what one can only consider as top notch out of the box thinking she painted a scenario that although not guaranteed could possibly save my organization thousands, months later the cost savings were evident, management does an excellent job on training their employees on how to cope with issues that impact there consumers bottom line, all the while remaining knowledgeable on Avalons business practices and extremely professional, when we return we will definitely stay here again!

They will increase renewal price to be higher than their market price, every year. If you plan on renting for more than a year and dont want to be ripped off or move every year, I recommend you look somewhere else.Also, I lost two motorcycle, a laptop in the garage, and tons of packages in hallway. They said theres surveillance camera, but they never caught anyone. They even refused to take in Amazon delivery in leasing office, which leave you no choice but bet on your luck.Guest parking is seriously limited and inconvenient. Youll need to get guest permit in leasing office in business hour. Your guest usually will have no choice but park at Bart.2 star (not 1) because room, facility and service are good.

Moved a week back into this community and would say, not all apartments are thoroughly checked before they put it on the website for new lease.Avoid apartments near to Trash dumping area. Check Carpet condition before moving in. Swimming pool etiquette not followed by all residents, so need more monitoring.Apartments are very expensive so be a bit careful before choosing the right one to enjoy the stay with all the amenities.

I moved to the bay area about 6 months ago and one thing was clear: you either have to make 3 times the rent in order to even be CONSIDERED as an applicant at apartments, or settle with a dirty and unsafe area.
