My new favorite place for Sushi. The food was so good and the fish was fresh and delicious. My favorite roll was the Lambada roll. I cannot wait to go back and have more delicious Sushi and hot sake!!!

Honestly the best sushi in the fairfield/vacaville area. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. The sushi chefs can remember my order just from how often I visit. Ayame also has fair prices for the quality and quantity of their products. My recommendations include the ayame roll, red lady, lambda, orange blossom, Alaska, and Philly rolls.

Ordered to go, my sushi was packaged in the same bag with the hot chicken katsu so it was warm and mooshy. Roll fell apart and was not tasty, but the katsu was good.

No see-through sushi here! I miss this place. I frequented here weekly when living in Fairfield, it is the best sushi restaurant in the area. The atmosphere here is great, with fun friendly servers and owner behind the sushi bar. Excellent food with quality ingredients.
Great Sushi. This will be our Go To when we want sushi. Staff is pleasant and friendly, despite what some people on yelp say. Sashimi is AMAZING. Love that they have a Happy hour 7 days a week till 7pm. Volcano Roll, Monster Roll, and Deep Fried California Roll are a staple 🍥 . My husband ate sashimi until I rolled him out the door. Try this little hole in the wall, beautifully decorated, best Sushi in Town in my opinion. A++

Great landlock sushi optionA homie of ours was coming down from the Redding area, and since we live in the bay, it was a perfect middle ground.Walking in 20 minutes after they opened on a Saturday, and already they had half a dozen tables with families enjoying food.We all started with a miso soup. The table had 2 orders of gyoza, which were nice an crunchy.We all got our own things... My lady and buddy both ended up getting 2 rolls (I cant remember which) and I personally, decided on a lunch bento. Chicken teriyaki, and pork katsu were my mains, and I really enjoyed the katsu. Nothing beats fried pork! 🔥 🔥 🔥Our waitress was super attentive, making sure we had all the water and things we needed.Wouldnt go out of my way, but if I was driving through, and wanted something other then fast food, its a great option!

I usually go to mikunis in Davis to eat sushi because I have not been able to find a place I actually really enjoy in Vacaville or Fairfield but I finally found one ! Ayame sushi will be my go-to in town ! The seafood taste fresh and I am really picky about seafood.
We were in the neighborhood and son and mom are craving for sushi. They search and found this place. The owner/waitress was friendly, very nice, and nice service. Food is good. We enjoy it. Recommended.
Still the best Sushi in Solano County. Always fresh; always made artistically. The flavors are great and the fish portions are generous. The other dishes are made with quality too. The prices have increased after the pandemic.
Our family loves to treat ourselves with a sushi night. Weve been to several sushi restaurants in the area, and have been disappointed either with the selection, freshness/taste, establishment cleanliness, service, or inconsistent portions - to name a few. Ayame hit all the right spots in our first visit. I really hope its a consistent experience because everything was top notch. The service was super friendly and attentive, the menu selection was INSANE! Once we decided on several different rolls and sake, we enjoyed every bit of it.

I called Ayame to get some emergency sushi for my immediate post-partum wife. I told them exactly what she wanted “plain tuna roll”. The owner jokingly clarified by asking “you want seaweed and rice too right”? They also let me call it in advance and time it perfectly. She listened to me and let me talk through my schedule and timed it perfectly. When I arrived they were welcoming, accommodating and the place was really homey. Can’t wait to take my wife on several dates here. Arigato ne!

Bad costumer service, yells and tells people to move out their way. They left my food on the counter and said that it was mine and that they’ll bring the rest later, so I picked it up and walked to a seat and sat down with the food while I waited for the rest and they said “HEY THATS NOT YOURS!!!! The CAMERAS ARE WATCHING YOU!!!” Accused me of stealing when I was just sitting down with the food they said was mine while I waited on the rest to be done. This restaurant is so disrespectful me and my sisters jaw dropped when they screamed like that. Horrible. My mom is highly upset that they treated us this way, theirrude and dirty. Would not recommend anyone to come here.
I love ayame sushi restaurant it’s the Greatest! There Dragon Balls are the best. Sushi 🍣 is the freshest a little pricey but it’s worth every penny. Clean, Safe and comfortable seating. Clean rest room and Great service at all times 🤩 WOW. Please come and eat there you will love it as much as I do.

Service was very good with big smiles and good stories from a very friendly staff. My sushi rolls were top notch and my parents bento box was supposedly just as tasty. Service was just slightly slow for a relatively busy Wednesday night. If I could give like 4.6 stars, itd be more accurate.
Good place if you are a regular customer. A first time visitor will see only a melt down on service with wrong orders sent to wrong tables and wait people shouting across tables to the cook owner at full volume. This was quite a show and distracted from dining and overall experience too many times. One older female waitress was blunt and overly loud. Any other place and she would not last more than a few days. Food was very good and priced reasonable. Chef knew many customers by first name which is amazing. I will not go back due to nutty service and loud wait service.
Awesome! Our server was nice and friendly. We are openly lesbian and expect differential treatment but we were in for a wonderful surprise. Our waitress was awesome, the food was not overly priced, the food was excellent and that is a compliment I dont give out unless it is deserved. Definitely an grassy place to eat sushi. You must try the Betty B Roll or the Deep Fried Philly Roll. Ummm ummm great!!! 👍 👍
Walked in. The cook just yelled from across the restaurant were full. I stood there for a second expecting him to tell us how long of a wait. He then yelled No Space. I saw about 4 or 5 empty seats at the bar. I asked if we could sit there. He again yelled from across the restaurant and said your food would take an hour, makes no sense. What a horrible way to treat a customer who walks in to your restaurant. Walked out. Never got to taste the food so I cant comment on that. The only reason I went there is because a co worker recommend it.
I was on my way to a giants game when my daughter said lets stop here and eat. We arrived at 2:40 which is 20 minutes before they closed. We were greeted by a very rude woman who basically tried to close the door on me as I was opening it saying we are closed. She pointed out they closed at 3pm. I looked at her very confused as it wasnt 3pm. She said we call last call at 215pm. I suggested she should update her his to reflect that. Looks like people like the food, maybe they should work on their people skills.
The food was mostly good. The chef was mad mouthing another customer because they didnt want certain items on their rolls. Two of our rolls were very good. One seemed to be improperly cut and had what seemed like fish belly cavity lining on it.
Our family and friends love this place. We visit when we are around the area and sometimes take the hour and 20 minutes drive just to have their sushi. The foods are great and always fresh. We always take the owners recommendation when they have special fish available. It never disappointed us. We have eaten sushi all over but will go here any chance we get. The waitresses we encountered were friendly.

The sushi here is very fresh, and the Teriyaki sauce is exceptional. My children and I really enjoy the rolls- namely the California and the Philly Rolls. The prices are very reasonable and outstanding. There may be a wait-so be patient and kind. Highly recommended!
Exceptional service, quality of food and fresh fish offerings! Their combo specials, specifically the 2 item lunch pickings are great in value. We are a huge fan of their Philly and California Rolls! I called an ordered three rolls for pick up on a Sunday evening. The lady on the phone seemed very frustrated I was ordering food from their restaurant. She told me it would be about an hour. I felt like I should be apologizing for ordering food from them. The sushi is ok.If you don’t want people ordering pick up, state that online or when they call. B****
They were able to accommodate our party of 8 adults + 5yr old + baby. The food was delicious. Sushi was great! Hamachi sashimi was perfect temperature and very yummy! The additional entrees we also tasty! Excellent service...we had a great time!
This is one of the best restaurants in our area. It is sitting in a tiny strip of stores, but manages a higher level of finesse than the very middle of the road places that abound in suburbia. The deep fried oysters were perfection, the ikura so, so fresh, the rice the perfect temperature. The little things are not so little. Friendly place, cozy inside, and enticing happy hour.
Place came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Quality fish, family service and great portions. Came in from out of town on business and I will be back to Ayame on my next visit!
Food was ok for the price. Small-ish rolls, but they were cheap. Friendly waitress, but they forgot 2/4 of our rolls. Had to catch a movie so we just had them take it off our bill. When the waitress came back, they only took 1/2 rolls off so we had to remind them again to take off both. Not a big deal, but it shows how unorganized they can be.. first and possibly our last visit here. Not a good anniversary dinner experience. Btw, pictures of the restaurant makes this place look better than it actually was. It really is right next door to a liquor store.... in a Walmart plaza..
This place great! It was super busy and service was still great! Everything tasted fresh, we had 5 rolls and were really good. Went back 3 days later and had 6 different rolls and again all were really good.

Food was delicious & service was always outstanding. However, our credit card number was stolen during our last visit. Fortunately our bank alerted us and we were able to stop the purchase which was a large charge to our account from Best Buy. Apparently there exist some dishonesty from the staff, therefore we wont return.
I I could give it 0 stars I would. Came here for the first time and tried to order a California roll for my son with no seaweed. The server said we cant do it like yelling to me even tho the cook was trying to help. She did not have any respect for people even the customers that were calling she yelled and cussing. Never coming back!!! If you want to go and try go ahead, dont know how the food was cuz I left but the worst service of all was here
I love this place and i am not a sushi person. Either take out or dining in, its always delicious. I nornally get the grilled chicken roll and vegetable tempura roll but its so good that Ive gone out of my comfort zone and tried my husbands dishes and they never disappoint. Dont forget to get a house salad too. Thier house dressing is AMAZING.
I just returned from a two-week trip to Japan and ate at about 14 different Japanese restaurants there. In all of those restaurants, people spoke with one another in hushed voices, so that tabled customers could hear one another. After this experience in Japan, and now, yesterday at Ayame Sushi, I encourage Ayame Sushi to put in rugs, and sound dampeners on the ceiling and perhaps on the walls also. Then let me know you did this and I will eat at your restaurant again. P.S. the sushi was acceptable, on a scale of non-acceptable/acceptable/good/very good/great.
Delicious sushi and a pleasant atmosphere, definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Vacaville and only a short drive away. I took a star off, however, because the staff gets really pissy if you try to modify a roll. If Im willing to pay for it youd think theyd be willing to make it but I found their refusal to accommodate my tastes unprofessional. Meanwhile, Taros in Sacramento has a fantastic head chef who knows me by name and is happy to make my custom roll. I drive an hour away and have spent thousands of dollars there on sushi. Itd be nice if I could find an equivalent restaurant out here.

Went in with my son ( 8 month old) for a quick bite. And I was greeted with amazing service from Rienne, who was quick and efficient. And not only was the service awesome! But the food was amazing too! Will differently be coming back
I had a lion king roll and my sister had a teriyaki chicken bowl. I vey much enjoyed my roll and she liked her bowl as well. The waitress was sweet and attentive. I would gladly come back and will be recommending this place.

Ok I changed my order last minute here, ladies were friendly, but the man behind the counter was so frustrated w me, I left. This place is not friendly, he got impatient with me real quick. Don’t waste your time here, everyone is allowed to change orders, ask questions, order what they want without attitude. The man behind the counter making sushi was so rude to me. Go to another sushi place. Your better off going elsewhere.

This place is always clean and the sushi has been consistently good for years. The prices of the rolls insnt real steep either. The only real problem is they close down for there lunch hour which has inconvenienced me and few others before- but they need to rat too.
Me and my son were already seated on a 4 seater table in which they told us to sit. As we are waiting for order, a family of 4 came and hell!!! This server rudely asked us to move. We came to your place because it was recommended but how you treated us is unacceptable. I love this place. The sushi is always fresh and its consistently perfect. The place is pretty cozy and clean. The staff is somewhat corky, but super lovable.
We have been eating sushi from Sacramento to San Francisco, Eureka to SLO Town. This restaurant has a special roll called GirlyMan. It is a must try. Every bite has a different flavor. They are generous with their sushi size portions and wonderful with presentation. Easy going atmosphere. We love it and the owner is so personable!!! We will drive from Benicia to Vacaville to eat again. Wonderful freshness, décor, options, food. Owner hand selects his fish locally and brings it straight to his restaurant instead of ordering it from the fish Hub in Sacramento. The atmosphere was wonderful and the décor beautiful. Love the lighting above the sushi bar. The table and chairs were top quality and extremely comfortable for me and my wife. We stumbled on this place by mistake. So glad we did!!! Thank You Steven!!!

The decor and ambience was wonderful, I loved the flooring and the plates and bowls they used, real clay/porcelain/glass instead of plastic. I ordered Nigiri Tuna, Salmon and Yellowtail. And Sashimi salmon, because I love me some salmon. The quality of the fish was great, sometimes salmon can come out a little fishy if not fresh enough or prepared right, but this salmon was clean, fresh, and oh so delicious. I will definitely come back again.

Steve is the best. Fresh sweet scallops, Otoro beat quality tuna Ive ever had and fresh Sweetwater shrimp. For knowledgeable sushi or sashimi eaters, the have excellent quality food. I was so excited to eat it, I forgot to take pictures of the artistically presented sushi and sashimi.
This small restaurant is a great place for a casual date. Though the place doesnt stand out in the plaza it definitely is worth stopping by. Great food and a humble atmosphere.
The fish on my sushi was not fresh. Maybe it’s just because I grew up in LA where it is extremely hard to find a place that does not have fresh fish in LA. You’re Better off going to Hisui and paying a little bit extra

2023-03-20 02:23:36Not too busy when we arrived, but greeted quickly and seated. Hard to decide what to eat, many choices. We had two deep fried rolls as starters (Cal Recall, California Roll) delicious! And the Agedashi tofu always a good choice. First time here, will make sure to come again so I can try other dishes.

2023-04-15 22:19:52I thought the sushi was going to be great after looking at the reviews but it was a bit disappointing. Service was okay. We had takoyaki and shrimp tempura for starters. The tempura was good but two of the takoyaki balls had filling that was a bit too chewy. We also had some cooked rolls and some raw rolls. They didn’t have a huge selection of raw rolls. Most of them had imitation crab. The rolls where nicely presented but too big to fit into your mouth and the rice was just mush and translucent. Might give it another try and maybe try some of the sashimi and nigiri and other kitchen dishes. It came out to about $54 per person so it’s more on the expensive side.Ambiance was quiet but people surrounding us were ordering soups, salads and California rolls. There was only one table with a roll that seemed like actual sushi. Not sure what to think of that.

2023-09-08 04:12:31Just leaving the restaurant with my son, everything from beginning to end was simply perfect! The staff, the quality of the food, the response time, even the music was awesome. Tonight was my first time but I will definitely come back every time I stay in Vacaville.

2023-09-28 00:40:40Our last visit to Ayame this past Friday was awful. We ordered a Nigiri and sashimi dinner. After my wife complained to me that her Hamachi tasted like it was bad, I decided to inspected my Hamachi. It really smelled bad and super fishy. All the redness you see in a nice Hamachi nigiri was all brown. It also looked like the sushi chef had trimmed the brownness away as well. I shouldve returned our meal but I really felt sorry for them. Usually this restaurant is full. This past Friday it was virtually empty, only 2 tables had people.This will be the last time we go to this sushi restaurant. This was the second time over the past year we have had bad fish. Besides, the sushi chef/owner never greets any guests like ALL Japanese/Sushi restaurants we go to. This guy is pretty rude…

2017-07-08 21:39:18Great stop. The staff was really friendly, and the fish was super fresh. Loved the Avocado Bombs. They even had Super White tuna (my favorite) and the Japanese craft beer Echigo Koshikari. Only reason I gave a 4 was it took a little too long after ordering. Highly recommend.

2019-02-13 21:52:13Great food and service very friendly, worth a 40min drive. Food is fresh and chef had a good hand. Would recommend and will come back. Here you have the chef roll ( forgot the name ) crunchy tempura and kids chicken teriyaki.
