2023-09-01 07:34:06This was our second time visiting. Both times the food and service were exceptional. We started with the mixed tempura. It was hot and crispy on the outside. The vegetables and shrimp were perfectly cooked. We also had the Pepper Fin. It was fresh with a slightly spicy sauce. We also ordered 3 Makimono, the Azayaka, the Fire Dragon and the Sassy. All three were beautiful to look at and and full of flavor. The fish was very fresh and the sauces while delicious didnt overpower the fish. We definitely ordered too much for 2 people. Next time we want to try the Omakase. We arrived about 5pm on a Thursday and it was not busy, but started to pickup by the time we left. The staff was friendly and attentive. Really appreciate a good restaurant take a chance on a suburban location.

2023-07-23 02:29:29The sushi bar serves decent food with generous portions. However, I prefer smaller sushi pieces that can easily fit into my mouth, which is not the case here. Overall, the experience was satisfactory, but the larger sushi portions were a bit inconvenient for me.

2023-09-17 16:19:42I love omakase and was excited to try this new place. It did not disappoint. The ingredients were fresh and the presentation was on point with the taste. Yuzu flavor played a big part in several courses which I loved. My favorite were the toro and uni but all the courses were good and different. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and I am glad I dont have to travel to SF for good omakase anymore when there is one close to home now. I cant wait to come back to try the spring and summer menu.

2023-06-10 08:22:19Stepping into Azayaka Japanese Fusion, youre immediately greeted by their beautiful interior, making for a refined, yet relaxed, environment. Id say this would be an ideal spot to go for any occasion whether thats a date night or a weekend family dinner.Their expansive menu offers something for everyone - a plethora of fresh fish options, artful bento sets, and appetizers of both the warm and cold variety. They also offer an omakase menu for those who want to be a little adventurous and leave their tastebuds up to the chefs expertise and skill. We arrived around 7pm on a Sunday night; the restaurant was sparsely populated at this hour and so we were seated quickly without wait. We selected the mixed tempura (which consists of three shrimp and a five-piece vegetable variety), the sunshine roll, the hamachi kama, and the shiozake set.Im usually a roll person as I like the variety of flavors you get in each bite, and as much as I enjoyed the sunshine roll, I have to admit that the absolute showstopper of the meal was their set. The shiozake set (which is grilled salmon season with yuzu salt) also comes with chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), harumaki (vegetable egg roll), side salad, miso soup, somen and rice - a complete meal if I ever saw one. The set also comes beautifully plated, bringing new meaning to the adage you eat with your eyes first. All components of the set were well prepared and flavorful, making for an enjoyable eating experience overall. If youre a fan of beautiful Japanese cuisine, then I highly recommend giving Azakaya a try!

2022-12-24 08:49:03I was browsing to look for any interesting new restaurants in Sac. This popped up and got my attention. I did my homework and read through many reviews. Couldnt help myself and felt compelled to try it out. I came around 2:45pm so should have been not too busy. However, there were 3 tables with large parties that just got there a little earlier and started ordering. Took 10 minutes before someone even came around to get me a menu, but yeah, they dont have many waiters. I saw their Azayaka Jubako for $60 between 12/19 and 1/8. Looked interesting. I may go back and try it.One Yelp elite mentioned that the kaisen-don set, and I pretty much knew thats what I wanted. The kaisen-don is $28 and you can make it a set for $3. That extra $3 gets you a side salad (with grapes), chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), fried egg roll, somen (thin cold noodles), and miso soup. Thats quite a good deal for $31 in this high-inflation time. The kaisen-don was pretty good - 13 pieces of sashimi over rice. The sashimi was above average. Yes, I would even order just the kaisen-don for $28. Having seedless grapes in the salad was a nice touch and I loved it. Ive had chawanmushi several times and since this was part of the added set at $3, it was plain. It wasnt bad, but it just didnt have much in there. I wonder if ordering chawanmushi separately at $8 would be different. The fried egg roll was meh. I didnt care for it. The somen was a bit too salty from its sauce. The $3 set was indeed quite a bit of stuff, but the quality wasnt all there.Since I sat at the bar, I heard the chefs speaking in Mandarin. I then asked one of the chefs a few questions. The chef said their uni (sea urchin) are delivered every 2 days. I would have ordered uni nigiri if I wasnt so full from the kaisen-don set. Also, they may have omakase (chefs special meal) with walk-ins, but they highly recommend customers make reservations for omakase, especial on weekends. Wish they had draft beer, but they didnt. I am a sucker for draft beer and almost cant resist one when consuming Japanese food. I want to come back and try some other items. =)

2023-04-25 04:04:07Been there 4 times now and every time the service is friendly, the serving plates are so elegant, and the sushi and tempura dishes are always fresh and delicious. Definitely one of the best sushi places in Sacramento.

2022-10-18 05:01:21The name sums it up pretty well - if my elementary Japanese is correct, Azayaka (pronounced: a̠za̠-ja̠ka̠) means Bright future which describes the restaurant quite well. The staff were helpful, the fish was fresh and the prices were good! I seldom see that combination at a sushi restaurant in Sacramento. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very modern, bright and upscale and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful. I had the pan fried pot-sickers, the Rich Asian roll and the sushi nachos. Everything was prepared rapidly and was exceeded my expectations.I plan on visiting again soon!

2023-01-03 06:22:56FINALLY! The College Glen area has a bomb sushi place. This place has a broad and delicious menu, plus the staff is great. Highly recommend making this a new staple in the area.

2023-11-21 00:26:08I have dined in and gotten takeout from Azayaka and both are wonderful. The staff is attentive and friendly. The to go packaging is very nice, especially for the ramen. The prices are great considering the exceptional quality of food. And they are family friendly! The double toro roll is our fave. The eggplant starter is mouth watering. The ramen is delicious. The bento boxes are a lot of food and very well priced. My goal is to try everything on the menu. I have not been disappointed yet. My husband and I plan to try the Omakase very soon. The food is beyond delicious. We eat here close to every other week. We desperately needed a place like this on La Riviera! It’s amazing being able to walk to a restaurant of this quality. I hope they stick around for decades to come!
