Sister restaurant to Burma Superstar, with a much faster seating and similar menu. We have been here for restaurant week and when we were a large group of 10. For the large group, after we got directed from Burma Superstar to B Star, they seated us within 10 minutes.The menu is similar but B Star has their own standouts, like the Salmon Ochazuke, and honestly, the tea leaf salad is just as good as Burma Superstar if not better. I highly recommend coming here if you have never had Burmese food!

Four of us had a nice dinner. The selection or choices is great and gives you some nice flavor options. Two of our group needed gluten free and the Resteraunt was very attentive and careful which was really nice. Our food came to the table a little too randomly, another words one of four entree came came five or six minutes ahead and then the next two dishes came then another five minutes and the fourth dish arrived Not a deal breaker. Everyone in our party enjoyed the meal. I found my rice noodles softer than I would have liked but don’t have enough experience to know if that is how they are served in Burma. Cost of the meal was fair and the ingredients were fresh Quantities were all good as everyone left full. Atmosphere is urban casual. With plastic chairs and patio style tables. While the staff were very busy they were also friendly.

What a delightful treat. Its a nice neighborhood place on Clemente Street. We had the Kau Soi curry dish and the Tea Leaf salad. The Tea Leaf salad was amazing, an absolute abundance of flavors.

This is my favorite place to eat in the inner Richmond. I am not a super fan of Burma Super Star but love the casual vibe and amazing food at this spin off. They are famous for their tea leaf salad but you can’t really go wrong. Specific recs: salmon ochazuke, platha, sesame chicken, green plate, fiery basil chicken. The drinks are also good esp. the cucumber chili basil mojito.

Unique taste with great portions. I was very surprised you dont get food this good at these sizes. Even on lunch portions, we all left very full and happy. Great customer service also with quick seating during the lunch hour.

Great for takeout, not so much for dining in.Waited for over two hours, didn’t get half of the food we ordered. Other tables around us were seated well after us were able to order, be served, and leave well before we even got our entrees. These tables ordered multiple items that we also ordered and got them within a reasonable time while we waited and watched.Server was great, comped the items that were never served and had them packaged up to go.Also we didn’t have silverware for about 20 min after our apps arrived. I wouldn’t call this out but this also happened the other time I dined in at B Star.Overall I’ll say that we probably won’t ever eat in due to the slowness and general disorganization that appears to be the case in the kitchen, as we were told about certain things being “out” over an hour after ordering.Take out is great, I recommend the cauliflower.

Short version: DOUBLE CHECK FOR TO-GO TIPSStaff added an unauthorized 18% tip for a to go order. Called and didn’t get a call back the next day as promised. I had to physically go back to BStar to take care of it. No management present, staff was able to provide a refund but excuse was they ‘pressed the wrong button for tip’ after my card had been swiped and SIGNED with total amount.———On 8/29/23 we placed an order for a tea leaf salad, fiery basil with chicken, and miso cod, brown rice, and coconut rice for a to-go order. The total came out to 74.54.Two days (8/31/23) later I called BStar to inquire why my cc statement had 92.03 charged. They said they would contact the manager and call me the following day. No call on the next day 9/1On 9/2/23, I walked to the restaurant and to take care of it and asked to made it right. I asked for management but lady at the front she said she can help me out. She refunded me but justified it by how the staff need to ‘manually punch in the sales and may have accidentally put in wrong button.I dismissed her plea as there’s no excuse for this, as a consumer I now have seconds thoughts when adding my signature for to-go orders. (Do I cross out the lines for the non service tip?)We’ve been regulars with dine in and take out at bstar and Burma superstar for at least a decade now and this has really tarnished the trust and integrity for this organization. I almost always tip at least 20%, even with subpar service.Adding one’s own tip warrants this google review and shady reputation of this establishment’s staff. The food was overall good. Enjoyed the salmon rice soup bowl the most. The cauliflower was not bad but it was a bit too sweet and greasy. Thinner skin or just grilled would have been nice. The pancake was good! Not too oily. Staff were nice and kind.

Have been to B Star a few times for dinner and each time has been an overall good experience. The Curry Pot Pie is one of their more popular items and I can see why. The bread topping was super flakey and pairs super well with the curry. Lots of veggies and chicken in the curry as well. The salad on the side that it comes with is okay. I also really enjoyed the Firecracker Cauliflower - its a must try! The service was fast and all of the staff were friendly and accommodating.

The ambiance and service were delightful...while the food was delish. The appetizers of Cauliflower and crispy Brussel Sprouts were amazing! The 4 stars were for the main courses. Although both were tasty and gorgeous...the Longanisa was a bit salty and the Kau Soi did not have enough soup/sauce. The Banana Shake was refreshing and perfect!

This is a sister place of the Burma Superstar. At least thats what we were told by the guys at Burma Superstar. We had Khao Sui, Fiery Cauliflower, Jasmine & Coconut rice and an additional chicken dish between the four of us. The food was decent. The portion size is enough for just one person. If you are looking to share, you should order an additional dish.

We hadnt tried Burmese food before and was a bit apprehensive if itd be similar to more widely available Asian food. Boy, we are glad were so wrong. The dishes are so rather distinct and incredibly delicious! Must say, despite being a hard non-vegetarian, their vegetarian dishes made me dripping. Incredible place, fantastic ambience, great folks and very reasonably priced. Cant recommend enough!

Note that parking on weekends is very challenging, especially with a farmers market on Sundays.Veggie Samosa: Potato filled fried samosa in bite size form. Delicious.Pork Jook: Jook is usually a simple dish, so those looking for strong bold flavors just keep that in mind. But this warm hearty jook was exactly what I was seeking, bringing memories from childhood. The toppings were flavorful, and the pork was very good.Thai Curry Pot Pie: What a combo. Something like a Tom Kha soup thats coconut milk based and tangy, but topped with the flakiest pot pie crust. This is a fusion that totally works! Delicious.

This is the sister restaurant to Burma superstar with more fusion Asian food rather than authentic Burmese food. Ambiance is nicer and less wait. Food was pretty tasty. The tea leaf salad is a must try. Also had the lotus chips which were average. The entrees were all very good. Lamb curry was my favorite. Also tried the sangria and china house drink. Sangria had lychee but couldnt taste it in drink but china drink was more tasty and unique. Overall food experience and would come again.

Lovely COVID compliant outdoor space on the sidewalk with tables, chairs, heat lamps, and latticed wood walls.I had the Jook, tasty simple comfort food, and my partner had the pork garlic fried rice which was very flavorful.All tables were full but I had enough space to park the stroller. Lovely Burmese restaurant in San Fran. Looks tiny from the outside but quite spacious on the inside with great food and bar. Recommend the salmon pot pie, though not with the salad, it was a little warm and too salty for my taste. Also the chef can substitute fish for entrees. They originally had the miss cod which I had asked them to substitute for miso salmon.

Waited minutes for anyone to take drink orders (the place wasnt busy), then the drinks came in batches, so some people were left waiting. But the food - wow. Fresh, interesting, delicious. The most popular dish here I think is tea leaf salad! Instead I ordered this Porridge with BBQ pork, ginger, chili oil, preserved egg and pork floss. If you want to come here on a weekend, make sure you have reservations, they fill up quick. Parking can be tough so if you see a spot go for it, even if it’s 7 blocks away. Food was excellent and had a good mix of various Asian cuisines. We ended having Indian, Thai, and Vietnamese all in one sitting. Service was quick and friendly, but never came to check on us. Only reason I couldn’t give them the full 5 stars.

Delicious and fresh! My friend and i split had brussel sprouts and rainbow salad which is mixed table-side. I had fiery basil with tofu and friend had curry pumpkin stew. Fiery basil tofu was definitely fiery and flavorful. Stew was also good but my friend said less pumpkin more meat would have been welcomed. Had to wait 20 mins but better than 45 min wait at burmese superstar down the street. Overall great experience.

This is specifically in regards to the pumpkin ginger stew - I imagined a thick stew, but I was served a watery vegetable soup.The kabocha pieces were about the size of your palm, in contrast to the slivers of red bell pepper and mini cubes of tofu. The bell peppers had an unusual flavor - I think they were starting to go bad. Although the flavor of the broth was ok, it didnt taste of ginger and it definitely wasnt a stew.Ive had other items here in the past that were good - the garlic noodles and the house made tofu.

Went here with my buddy on a trip. We had originally planned on going to Burmese Superstar, but came here because they had a shorter wait. Its very clean and good service given. We ordered the tuna ceviche and stuffed platha to start. The ceviche was amazing, a lot of good flavors. Platha good as well, but ceviche stole the show. For our meals we had the tamarind chili shrimp, and the pan roasted sea bass, which we both split. Both were cooked perfectly. The bass was incredibly flaky, and the sauce on the shrimp was sweet and spicy. Overall though, the ceviche was still the winner, but everything was really good. Portions were good sized and service was great. Would recommend!!

Happy hour specials M-F until 7pm! You can make reservations, very similar to Burma Superstar which is a couple streets down. There is a seating in the back patio area which is through the entire restaurant past the bathrooms. They have happy hour specials, the one thing I cant tell is if the happy hour specials are smaller than the standard appetizers. There definitely was a lot of ice in our coconut lime mint mojito made with suju, but tasty nonetheless. Highly recommend the coconut rice and ordering different dishes to share family style!

Great spot with usually no wait. My most recent visit was a nice table outside with 2 friends. We had very prompt service. The entire staff seemed to have a rhythm that made sure all guests were tended to. My party order the fresh spring rolls, amazing! The peanut dipping sauce is delectable. We then shared 3 regular-portion entrees, family style. Each of us ended up choosing a different favorite dish by the end. Enrolls was a hit! Great food, nice ambiance, excellent service. Went here for my sisters birthday during breakfast hours. I got their butter pancakes and they were the best pancakes Ive ever had. They were extremely fluffy and delicious. My mother had gotten a fruit side and it was organized really well. The dishes are very appealing to the eye and are delicious. Youll also find that they have some more mixed food and then they have more Asian food, both of which are great. The staff are also good. Unfortunately it seems as the place is usually full and when I ate there I had a reservation. If youre willing to wait its totally worth it :)

If you want to wait two hours after you’re seated for mediocre food that is is definitely not Burma Superstar quality, then this is the place for you. We waited 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order. Waited another 30 minutes shivering before she refilled the tank in the heater. Almost walked away but waitress said kitchen was working on our food. Got our kids garlic noodles which was cold soy sauce noodles with some dried garlic on it. Took another 45 minutes or so until our dishes came. So sad to have to wasted a beautiful sunny afternoon here. Don’t waste your time.

Its a well known place that lives up to the hype. I highly recommend it! Cant really go wrong with the menu, but the tea leaf salad is non-negotiable, you gotta order it. Its presented beautifully and tastes delicious. We got the lamb mango curry and the duck skin fried rice, would recommend both. Can get super busy on the weekends, but we walked right in on a Monday night.

What an amazing meal. My second time having a Burmese meal and I am so glad I chose to do it. Came recommended by my very own community manager Ophelia, and knowing that she has some of the best suggestions, we made reservations right away.Came here for a family dinner during thanksgiving week and food was amazing. We started off during happy hour so some of us had pints and I stuck to rose tea (amazing btw). We had the Tea salad, Brussel sprouts and I ordered the sea bass. We also had the Thousands year old egg porridge, coconut rice, lamb curry and beef stir fry. Lamb curry was amazing and I wish I had time to try each and everything on their menu.Their restaurant size is small and they have extended it in the back. There is plenty of space in the back. I was a little surprised by the $16 price, but I assumed it would be well worth it. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The coconut rice was great, as was the sauce on the chicken. Tea leaf salad, Curry noodles and chicken were great and really really flavorful and delicious! However the garlic noodles left me wanting. Coconut Chicken Curry with Tempeh Noodles: this dish was amazing and was the suggestion from our server also. I loved this one and could have easily had another one if I had any space left in my stomach. The noodles were so soft and the curry was so flavorful. The fried onions and wonton chips also went very well with it. Remember to squeeze the lemon wedge that they give with it and you will love the fresh flavors of the dish.Tamarind Chili Shrimp and Egg: this was also a very good dish. Even without the shrimp the flavors of the tamarind and garlic were amazing and I could have the rice purely with that.

Most of the food tastes exactly the same. The pumpkin pork stew was great. But the tea leaf salad fell short. It had different lettuce and much more of it. B*Star is an excellent restaurant on Clement Street and the sister restaurant to Burma Superstar. Quite often when Burma Superstar has a long line they will send you 2 blocks down to B*Star. This is a good thing as B*Star has an excellent (and different) menu and often a far shorter wait. Of course, the tea leaf salad here is amazing and a must order. I also had the chicken and shrimp which was cooked perfectly and delicious. Service here is very friendly and the pricing is very fair. Overall a very interesting menu and everything I have had is excellent. I highly recommend. Casual atmosphere.

I recently dropped by the B Star on my way home from a very long bike ride to Rodeo Beach in Marin and was famished so I stopped by to see what was on the menu, hoping there was plenty of vegan/vegetarian items to choose from. To my delight, there was: 18+ items! I had the coconut tempeh noodles, which was amazing, as well as the rice pudding, which had fresh fruit in it - seriously, the best rice pudding Ive ever had. The menu, we were told, was exactly the same as Burma Superstar. You have to try out the tea leaf salad since you cannot have Burmese without having tea leaf salad. Rainbow salad is also good, but my wife and I liked the tea leaf salad more. We usually get the vegetable noodles and basil chili tofu and they both are delicious. We usually avoid drinks but they have a decent drink menu. Pricing is a bit higher than the average so expect to pay around $15-$20 per person excluding drinks. Parking is a bit difficult in this part of the town but you will eventually find street parking with some patience and perseverance.

This is Burma Superstars sister and less chaotic restaurant. You can actually get reservations here. Its a lot nicer and cleaner than Superstar. Theyre menu is pretty extensive in regards to Asian food. They have quite a variety and they still serve the favorites, tea leaf salad and samosa soup. I usually come here for weekend brunch and order the jook. Its a porridge with all the mixtures of flavors and textures that are similar to those of the tea leaf salad, but with porridge. Its soothing and delicious.

Ive been here about ten times. Great flavors are the only real good thing about B*Star. Service is subpar - I think we had 4 people managing our table tonight, so no one was actually responsible for anything. None of them know who gets what, which messes up orders when people get different sizes. Water went unfilled multiple times. When two cards were put down, a server grabbed our cards and ran and split the bill in half without asking if thats how we wanted it split. I wish I could say that this was something abnormal tonight. Portions are unpredictable - $8.50 for 1.5 tiny spring rolls (I asked on this one since I was so sure it was a mistake, but the person confirmed that was the intended portion), while a $12 dinner might be a pile of food. Soup for 5-6 gives 2 decent sized bowls (dont be fooled by the cups they use in the restaurant, and even then its enough for just 4 cups), a large tea leaf salad seems to be about 25% bigger than a normal one despite a 50% price difference. The food is amazing, but I often leave here unhappy because of service failures, portion inconsistencies, and such an unpredictable experience in general. If I go here anymore, it wont be me that picked this as the meal destination.

Its not too sweet, and went well to calm the spiciness of the basil tofu.The dessert was so delicious and ended the meal well! Its platha bread stuffed with nutella, condensed milk, almonds, and coconut ice cream. My mouth is salivating right now as Im typing this.. Its definitely big enough to share with another person, but I imagine I could devour it on my own. The platha was crispy, yet had soft layers. And you cant go wrong with nutella. My friends and I found this place while wandering around looking for brunch. Most other places had an hour or longer wait on the Sunday that we went, but Bstar only had a 20-30 minute wait and let me tell you, it was totally worth it. They had the most unique bloody mary I have ever tasted (hello Wasabi!) and there are two other unique dishes worth mentioning. The Salmon Ochazuke is Japanese style comfort food, pan fried rice, green tea broth, poached egg. It sounds weird, but the chef must know what he/she is doing; it was surprisingly light and extremely tasty. We shared this as an appetizer, which I would recommend, so that everyone gets a taste. Most of Burma Superstars signature dishes like the tea leaf salad and lamb salad are all here along with some more fusion options. My favorite dish so far is the chicken and shrimp casserole, which has a nice thick sauce over a bed of fragrant biryani rice in a clay pot. I also came here for brunch and really enjoyed the Longgannisa breakfast which is Filipino pork sausages with sunny side eggs over garlic rice with a sweet vinegar dipping sauce. Even if youre not a fan of brussels sprouts, these may convert you!I had the duck hash quesadilla that was delicious, and a large portion. I was only able to finish about 1/3. V had the pork tocino and licked the plate clean.Service was friendly and attentive.

While their sister restaurant down the road was our destination (very long wait), the staff there called ahead and reserved us a table. What can I say? This place is amazing, start with the Rainbow Salad, then move on to th-ORDER EVERYTHING!

This is the little sister to Burma Superstar. Theres hardly ever a wait and the menu is fantastic. It can be a bit pricey, but its worth it. They also have a great drink menu.

My most recent experience was very good food, and a kind waitstaff: this place has it right. i hear the bars tasty but cant vouch firsthand. while its true that a couple years back i had two back-to-back experiences that made me seriously doubt this place, i think they have totally remedied their issues. i will reverse-engineer those b-sprouts if its the last thing i do!!

A friend suggested an assortment of different entrés to share among 4 people and I was blown away by the different flavors and a nice service. It is quite inexpensive for such great quality.
