Been here a few times and always have a pleasant experience. The staff is really friendly and the food is also really good. If you’re not sure what to order they’re helpful with their recommendations and don’t disappoint. The price is great especially for the portions. The overall aesthetic is so cute as well. They’re very attentive and good comes quickly and tastes fresh. They offer free deliver as well

I didnt have high expectations walking in at 930 pm on a Monday night, for this small, hole-in-the-wall Chinese food place located on Polk Street in SF but the food and service were good. They give their loyal customers good value with relatively decent price points and quiet but attentive service for those dining in or takeout.This small place feels comfortably communal rather than crowded but you can hear other peoples conversations, which oddly enough adds to the ambiance.Their open until 10:45pm or so every day so if you are ever in the vicinity, stop by for some honey walnut shrimp and rice.

Small, beautiful and one of the best hidden gem. Upon arrival they served us complimentary herbal tea and then warm soup.We order main entree and desserts but they served us desserts first and then the main entree which is extremely common in allAsian restaurants. They will serve you which ever is cooked first and fresh. Over all the food was delicious but the service of the guy was above and beyond. He was taking orders, attending phone calls, serving dishes and may be cooking as well. He kept checking everyone for water and food. Over all really satisfied with the quality,$$ and the service.

I read the reviews and still wanted to try it but we decided to have it delivered. Food like the crab Rangoon and the pork dumplings were not bad. Definitely did not like any of the sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken. Way over salted for me. I couldnt eat the rest of it. Just the rangions, pork dumplings and the rice. Im just visiting here from NY but I wont be back to this place. Will definitely try one more spot before I leave.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT! Spent $43 and tipped the delivery guy $7 prior to seeing our food. This is their attempt at fried rice and orange chicken. Both obviously day old and not at all appeasing to the eye. Our fried rice is 90% brown rice, the orange chicken has a rubbery texture and chunks of orange peel in it. The worst Chinese food I’ve ever ordered. If I could give them a negative star rating I would. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT!

Affordable, extensive menu, and safe & cute location! The customer service was friendly and efficient. We got 6 rolls for take out: Dragon, rainbow, spicy mango avocado, 49er, Tokyo, Philadelphia. Favorites were Spicy mango avocado (sounds weird but was a really refreshing and good combination) and Tokyo roll (deep fried salmon tuna and eel). Something was missing from some of the other rolls—maybe a sauce or pickled vegetable could be added to make the flavor pop. But I liked the generous portions, good price, and fresh ingredients. I would come again to try the rest of the menu.

Won tons in my soup were gummy. The teriyaki rice plate was terrible. Chicken was not freshly stir fried. Sauce was overly corn starched and had no flavor. Side salad was warm and wilted. Rice was okay. Basically, Couldn’t eat it.

There didnt appear to be any difference with the sauces cooked with the lamb or tofu dishes. Combo Wor Wonton Soup ... tasted better ones on Larkin and Golden Gate Avenue.

I ordered mongolia beef and brown rice, mongolia beef is ok I guess but brown rice is very old and bad taste, it feel like too old to eat, in fact Im not eating it. I took the food because it was open late but it was a bad decision.Update 5min later: I found like... Noodles (?) MY FAVES AT THE END.If I could give this restaurant 10 stars, or had the understanding/authority to award a Michelin I would vote for them to enter and ascend.I’m $700.00 + in with this place! The money doesn’t matter truly, I’m just sharing to highlight that I keep coming BACK.My goodness! The consistency, flavor profiles, FRESHNESS, attention to quality and authenticity. I have never had a complaint and I’m a very attentive foodie.Another thing, the impression I have is from delivery ONLY. THAT SHOULD SPEAK TO THE INTENTION they put into their food.I have yet to dine-in and I’m always craving it. Wanting to share with my partner and refer to friends. We were staying at the Holiday Inn nearby. My wife ordered Thai food from a restaurant on the same street and had me walk down the hill to pick it up for her. I wasnt in the mood for Thai and decided to pick something up from Bamboo. I was glad I did.I walked in and looked at their lunch menu. I ordered a combination lunch special... Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, and white rice. I could have had chow mein or fried rice instead of white rice. Based on how great the food tasted, I regret not getting it with chow mein, . The lunch special even came with and egg roll and soup (egg drop soup or hot & sour soup). Unlike back home, they even gave the soup when getting take out. This was a nice surprise. I chose the hot & sour soup.I had no complaints about any of my choices. All were delicious.The Kung Pao looked a little different than I am used to, it was tender sliced chicken and I am used to chucks or cubes of chicken. It had a very good sauce and I like it a lot.The Orange chicken was wonderful. It also looks a bit different than I am used to as the sauce was a little dark and it had thin slices of orange peel nested in the sauce. None the less, it was great., maybe the best I ever had.The egg roll was still crisp when I got it back to the room. And the soup was pretty good. A nice touch was a big wedge of orange in the container. They gave me two fortune cookies and two sets of plastic wear.An added bonus, I was served tea while waiting for my order. The place is small and not a fancy place, but the tea gave this place a touch of class.The price was very reasonable too.In short... I was very happy I went to Bamboo. If I had another day in San Francisco, I would have probably gotten food from here again. But would have tried the chow mein with the lunch special.The walk back up the hill was the only thing I didnt enjoy about this excursion. I am old, out of shape, and not built for hills.

Yes I ate at the Bamboo Restaurant tonight December 16,2021: I enjoyed Soup. Barbcue Pork Won Ton with mixed Greens. Very Delicious and a Satisfying meal for everyones pallet. The menu is much to view as theres so many dishes to choose from. Go there dine 🍽 in or takeout 🥡. Its worth going there to eat at a Neighborhood Chinese Restaurant or coming from out of the Bay Area. My Experience has always been an Exellent Experience for the past 32 Years or so? I have eaten here a few times now, and the food is always great. I have had food delivered, and I have ordered for pick up, and I have walked there and placed an order to go in person. Tonight I ordered for pick up through GrubHub. My food was apparently ready way before I showed up, even though I showed up right when the app told me too. My food was still hot and everything so its good. The reason I only gave four instead of five stars is because they will not give you fortune cookies unless you ask for them. Usually they are always just included at all other Chinese restaurants Ive been too. When I had it delivered there was no cookies, and then today when I ordered for pick up I looked in the bag to see if there was cookies and there wasnt so I had to ask for them. Other than that, the place is great. Idk why they are so stingy on the cookies.

Overly greasy, disgusting Chinese take-out food. I ended up with a bad stomach after eating from here and the following day.I ordered the Mapo Tofu, Walnut Prawns, Appetizer trio and the Chow-mein. The Prawns were decent, but everything else was not good. Overly fried, too oily or odd-tasting (some dishes tasted as if its a day or two old and then re-heated up for delivery). I will not be ordering here again, nor do I recommend this place.I regret giving this restaurant a chance.

I absolutely love this place for private parties. Cant speak much to the dining experience, but private parties are an absolute guaranteed good time. Your music, your run of the place, all you can eat and all you can drink. Also having individual guests pay on their own rather than one person paying for everyone makes it easy on the host

I love this place! I’ve been going for years, excellent and kind service, very comfortable and the food is AMAZING. Just try to avoid going on Sundays... there’s a specific waiter there on Sundays who is just all over the place, forgets to give tea and soup and plays club music really loud to where you can’t even have a conversation with whoever you’re with over your meal lol. Other than that the owner and other waiters are fantastic and sweet.

I love the food at this place. Its been at this location for 18 years. The cook takes lots of care to combine sweet, small onions and a very few peppers to make the best food, for your money, in San Francisco.We had mu shu veggie with rice pancakes, on request. Pork dumplings, green beans with tofu, and salmon with veggies. We both shared the extra to take for the next day for our lunches. 50 dollars in all with tea included. Dinner plates are 13 to 15 dollars, plus extra for the rice.The service was good, friendly, for a nice change! Found parking in the area on a thursday evening. Enjoy!

Visiting San Francisco from Los Angeles and a hotel employee suggested this place. Terrible customer service. Quality of food was terrible in the sense that it completely lacked any taste. I do not recommend the fried rice or egg rolls. Also, they charge higher prices than those stated on the menu. Eat somewhere else.

Was very impressed with the food. Tofu had the perfect texture, eggplant was cooked beautifully and seasoned excellently- all of the flavors were flowing out of the food onto my palette. My spicy dish (Shanghai chicken) was also wonderfully balanced, chicken was tender and delicious, and the pine nuts were just icing on the cake (I love pine nuts). This chef obviously cares about his food, and it shows.

We were on holidays from Peru.We decided to enter one late evening. We ordered through them while using the ubereats app. We are vary familiar with the Uber app and found the app and ordering super easy. Then we got our food and found we were missing half our order. We were missing our order of crab ragoons, and an additional order of fried rice. To top it off the chicken fried rice looked and tasted like they made white rice, mixed in soy sauce and threw an egg in. The orange chicken is so bland and super tough. The sesame chicken was also nothing special and the chicken was tough. The only good thing about ordering from this place is that they refunded us our money no questions asked. Lucky for them we are here from out of town.

We were viziting San Francisco and suddenly my daughter felt really sick. We parked the car and looked for a restroom in the area- we couldnt find any. We saw the restaurant and since it was an emergency we entered and asked politely one of the waiters if we could use the restroom. He saw my daughter was not feeling well and he said it wouldnt be a problem. While I was waiting for my daughter, a lady approached me asking if I want to order. I explained the situation to her and thats when the hell started. She started yelling and tell me I have to get out of the restaurant if I dont plan to order anything. I tried to explain again that I have a kid whos not feeling well, that I asked before we entered the restroom and we were allowed by one of her employees to use it, that I completely understand it is not public restroom, and that I appreciate her understanding. She kept yelling at me that her employee doesnt know anything and shes the one running the place and I have to leave the restaurant. I had to knock on the door twice and rush my daughter. I got her out of the bathroom livid while the lady was yelling at her employee. The most poor customer service and heartless person I have met in my life. I wouldnt reccomend this place to anyone, end if they would serve free food.On another note- the bathroom was absolutely disgusting and unsanitary.

I ordered from Bamboo through Grub Hub minutes ago and received my food and it was totally incorrect. One of the dishes I ordered was vegan and it came with meat. When I called the restaraunt to inform them, they told me that they didnt remember what I ordered, so I reiterated it and they remembered, then blamed the Labor day holiday for making the mistake, and offered me a discount. I stated that I wanted my money back instead and they kept pushing the discount. I followed up with Grub Hub and they called them themselves as well but the restaraunt hung up twice on them. The only nice thing about Bamboo was the delivery driver and he was from Grub Hub!

The orange chicken was delicious, and so were the few sips of the soup brought out before my main course. But, there were many bugs in the soup... not just one that flew in like the one waiter casually asserted. These bugs didnt have wings. Small bugs that might have been on one of the vegetables, like broccoli; not sure.I was disappointed in how my waiter vehemently tried to disregard my observation until I finally extracted one from the soup to show him. Once he saw, he apologized and offered me a new bowl. I just said no thanks.

Ive only ordered takeout. Its well seasoned and consistent, but not anything extravagant. The beef teriyaki is always surprisingly tender. The secret to this place is their Japanese dinner box. Go on grubhub and check out the options. 2 entrees, steamed rice, small salad, and a pint of (boring) soup. if you are hungry and dont feel like cooking, Japanese dinner box is your man.

The Worst Chinese food ever, the sweet and sour pork had to be at least two to three days old dried and tasted moldy, even the hot mustard sauce was spoiled old and hard as a piece of wood, beware of this restaurant. Small, cute and cute. Classic Chinese restaurant, the bathroom is not the best. Hearty food at a reasonable price - classic salt-free Chinese food accompanied by sauces. Good value for money, I went often, I was satisfied and I was able to eat gluten-free and according to my blood group. The two managers are kind and dont ask for the mandatory tip but to be fair, I always left it a little. Easy to reach, from CALIFORNIA bus No. 1 or cable car to the Polk stop.
