Overall, a decent Thai restaurant. We came here on a Friday evening and got seated immediately. But, you may want to call ahead if you have a bigger group or show up at a busier time of the day. Lots of parking in the parking lot.I always get Drunken Noodles with chicken so that is what I ordered here too. I went with an 8/10 spice level but I wouldve handled 9 easily. If youre not one for spicy food, probably better to go with a 5 or 6. The Drunken Noodles was very very good. Lots of flavor, veggies and well-cooked chicken.My friend got a Yellow Curry. In their words, it was cute which basically means it was just ok. Nothing mind blowing.The service could be better. They arent really very friendly, more like, do your job, and move on.

After a day at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, decided to try this Authentic Thai Restaurant for lunch.Ordered their Tom kha soup for me and the wifey, she ordered their Pad woon sen, an order of their chicken satay with peanut sauce, and for myself their Red Curry.Everything was truly authentic & amazing. The word authentic couldnt describe the flavors in their dishes any better. Weve eaten many Thai Food Restaurants and this one had flavors bursting in big doses with every bite.Place was clean & organized. Their service was friendly & welcoming with great energy. If I could give them 10🌟s, I would.Definitely coming back here for more!

First time we tried to go here there was a gas leak. But we had reservations and was seated after 10 minutes. We ordered the Bangkok Boat Bay: Chicken Satay (Marinated chicken breast in a mixture of herb, spices and coconut milk, served with our traditional Thai peanut sauce and cucumber chutney), Golden Flower (flaky flower shaped pastry stuffed with chicken, onions, potatoes serve with cucumber chutney), Golden Fingers (Marinated jumbo shrimp, wrapped in wonton paper, deep fried, and served with plum sauce), Star Ton (Crispy wonton skin filled with avocado and cream cheese), Spring Roll (Stuffed with crystal thread noodles and vegetable, then deep fried until golden brown, and served with our sweet and sour plum sauce). Then I ordered the Kow Sai (Egg noodles in a spicy curry broth topped with crunchy noodles. Its a Northern Thai specialty) and the Pad See Ew (Thick rice noodles with egg, broccoli, and carrot in sweet soy sauce). The apps were super good but the main course was very flavorless.

There were 2 pieces of medium size scallops.-Seafood Po Tak $23— flavorful. Website stated “firepot”. However, clearly soup brought out in a pot, no “fire”. Soup was room temperature. We went on a Friday night. It was cold out, looking forward to hot soup. Disappointed, asked our server to warm up the soup. She did. Absolutely the worst service I’ve ever received in a restaurant. I was hoping to have a nice casual dining experience with my guest and instead was treated rudely and with disrespect every minute by the entire staff. Total impatience and felt rushed to order, eat, and exit the restaurant in approximately 25 total minutes! To emphasize their impatience… The staff turned on bright lights, and started vacuuming in front of our table… I’ll never return and felt like I threw my money away!

Stopped by for an early lunch. Quaint decor and serene atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was generic and not authentic. The sweet and sour chicken/shrimp (Twin Sisters) tasted syrupy and bland like it came out of a can. The Fiery Pad Prik Khan was better but the flavor fell flat.

We were in this area and found this well rated restaurant on Google Maps. It was very busy when we arrived, and we didn’t have reservations. Luckily, we only waited 20 min. They were letting people who can’t after us that the wait is 45 min. The dishes that we ordered were delicious and the prices were reasonable. The staff were friendly and although they were busy, our dishes came fast. We’ll definitely be back.

Delicious food and generous quantity! Everything was fresh and cooked right. Try the BK Bay ribs. Juicy and flavor full! Tip: slightly on the sweet side.Salmon panang curry and pad thai were excellent. Least favorite was the Tom Kha soup just because it could have been hotter.Service was fast and friendly. Actually had the reserved table ready to go upon arrival even on a busy night!

Last minute choice to drop in at BB Thai and we were thrilled again. We were seated immediately and served a beverage. Order was placed and shortly after the food was served. The drunken noodle was really good especially the onions. We also enjoyed dinner spicy basil fried rice at level 5 heat. It was perfect.

Absolute Go-To place for my wife and I. We are so happy they made it through the current challenges. Super friendly staff. Best Thai food in San Diego! They are finally open for in door dining! I know I will regret this review, as I wont be able to get a table when people realize they are open again. My favorite dish is the young bok joy with ginger and tofu. But having eaten here for 20 years you can go wrong. Pretty sure I have had every dish on the menu. They are all on point. They do a lot of takeout. But we prefer to eat there. Love the staff, the food and the environment.

I went about 8pm on a Sunday with no reservations but was about to get seated right away, they had maybe 2 tables available.Service was excellent, from recommendions to attentiveness and keeping my water cup filled immediately from not only my sever, but others as well.For dinner I had the Kow Soi. It was Amazing. I plan to go back again ASAP. It was a large portion and very filling with lots of flavor. Best Ive ever had by far.Note: Any bill under $20 has to be paid cash.

The dining room is full, and still the time it takes for them to feed you after your order is taken could be measured in seconds. The table next to me barely ordered 2mins ago and all 3 of their dishes are on the table. Impossibly rare excellence.KOW SAI NOODLESEgg noodles in a spicy curry broth topped with crunchy noodles. Its a Northern Thai specialty-best thai dish ive ever had. The scallops are perfectly cooked to melt in your mouth, the mussels are also delicate and mild tasting and the sauce is amazing. At 3 spicy, it had just enough kick to feel it on your lips between bites

Mother and I went here for an early dinner and we enjoyed it very much. We started with the golden triangle for the appethaizer which was very good, spicy a little too! Mother and I don’t have the highest tolerance for spice so when we ordered the chicken pad Thai we got a 3/10 on the spicy scale. Still spicy! Not dump your head in an ice bucket spicy we’re not that huge of wimps, but next time might see what a 1 is like. Great service with quick refills. I recommend one of my favorite Thai places in the area!

Omg, really good. Got here when they opened on a Thursday so we were the 1st Table. Started with Chicken Satay, delicious! On to Tom Yum Soup with 4 big shrimp in a small bowl. Fantastic! Next up, Drunken noodles with Veggies, too full too eat much. Boyfriend had the Twisted Sister, fried shrimp and chicken, just awesome. Wayyyy too much food for us, so we will have leftovers! I just had a fabulous lunch that came with a ‘free’ soup for under $13 at a sit down restaurant. Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles, love them, and they give you a 1-10 on the heat so you can choose your own adventure. Server was friendly, chef came out to check on me, and food was ready in less than 10 minutes. Great lunch pit stop!

Based on previous reviews we decided to try Bangkok Bay and are glad we did. Every dish was unique and delicious though the Panang Salmon was the best. Will definitely come back when were in the area again. Just know that its a small place so Id recommend calling ahead for a reservation.

Arrived right about 5:15 for dinner service (2 of us), with no reservations. We sat immediately. There were maybe two open tables, and about six tables already had apps on table.As people arrived after us, they were being told there was a wait. People arriving with resv were sat.We actually only came in for a Tom Kha soup, and chicken satay. So, we were in & out pretty quick. (We were out just cruising around on bikes, stopped by at 4:15 & they were closed. So we returned for dinner service hours; to get that Tom Kha. Once you get ot on your mind...!!!)So you know, if their hours say closed at 8, they are closed at 8. They stop seating around 7:35, 7:40. If they close at 9, same scenario. Weve been on the unfortunate side of arriving mere minutes after their cutoff time. And, we have witnessed it happen to others numerous times.The Tom Kha is a favorite, and always ordered. What we have decided though, the veggie version is best. The chicken is just too cooked through when its in the soup. Eg. Cardboard chicken. And, not to be cheap, but my wife and I both decided that it wasnt worth the extra few bucks, because neither one of us ever enjoyed the chicken. (Put the extra dollars in the tip. The staff is always super friendly & attentive.)But, we do love the chicken satay. I mean, come on, anything with peanut butter. Dont make the mistake of going straight, and only to the peanut butter sauce, their other vinaigrette dipping sauce that comes with it is so friggin delicious. Ask for a straw! And, the chicken (rib meat) skewers are moist and tender. (Theyre how you wish they would be in the Tom Kha.)

We enjoy stopping by Bangkok Bay Thai Restaurant after visiting Del Mar’s Dog Beach. They love to greet our dog and as we wait for our to go order on their bench, we end up getting some socialization time too. The food is one of the best in San Diego County. We are vegetarians and they cater to us so, it is nice. Our goal is to eat outside and it is a nice cool outdoor space but limited. Very dog friendly!

This has to be the best Thai food Ive ever had and Ive eaten at many Thai restaurants but this place takes the cake. I ordered 3 different dishes and they were all delicious. Very authentic, tasty, fresh food. They offer many vegetarian options as well. Friendly and very attentive staff and great seating times regardless of this whole Covid situation. Delicious!! My wife is not a fan of Thai food and she loved it. She ordered the peanut chicken and I had the pahd Thai and we found the chicken to be very high quality and plentiful. The portions were big. We ordered ahead and picked up to eat in the hotel room. The process was well setup and very efficient during the coronavirus situation. We will go back again. I highly recommend this place.

Small place tucked away, dark inside with nice Thai decor and a garden strip outside. I was a bit disappointed in the food. The service was great, the ladies all very nice! I asked for my noodles to be spicy and they totally werent spicy at all. The flavouring was a bit off, I dont know how to describe it other than it recreated that nausea that you get when your pregnant. I would not order the mock duck again (personal preference, other people in my party enjoyed it). Not complaining, I just would not visit there again unless someone wanted me to go with them.

Went with a group of 8 people on a Thursday night. This is a small restaurant in a small mixed use strip mall and it was packed. Be prepared for a 30 -45 minute wait, which can be tempered by purchasing some adult beverages at the small liquor/deli next door. The restaurant decor is pleasant and relaxing, the service was friendly and the food was spectacular. we ordered some appetizers and then 8 entrees to share. The appetizers were OK but not great, the Larb which is a favorite of mine was simply not good at all. They made up for it with the entrees which were exceptional. the portions were generous and the ingredients top notch. everything was well prepared and delivered hot. The sea food soup hot pot and the duck curry were both standouts. Certainly one of the better Thai restaurants in the San Diego area.

Bangkok Bay is the best bite of Thai food West of the I-5 in all of San Diego. It’s nestled in a small shopping center but has a great ambiance for dining. It is a smaller restaurant but they have excellent take-out service. The fountains inside are quite soothing. They have it decorated with several elephants and I always get confused about whether having the elephant trunk up or the elephant trunk down is good luck.My order here would be the Drunken Noodles or the Pad Thai. Both pair well with spring. The Thai fried rice is good with pineapple and chicken. I have not tried the beef. But their potstickers will have you ready for an entree.

Lunch special at other Thai places will usually offer a salad and/or egg roll/wonton; this place does not. The soup of the day was a veggie coconut soup, full of veggies and slightly tangy, I loved it. I ordered spice level 8 for my entree, but it was not even a tiny bit spicy; it came with plenty of meat and veggies though and was still good, just wished it was spicier.FYI - credit cards only accepted on bills more than $20.

Had I known they woud do this I would nt choose it for our birthday party. It was only 2 of our friends and 2 small children. And there were tables free in the main room even when we came in. Great spot! Having spent a few weeks in Thailand recently Im very particular when choosing a Thai restaurant back home now. Dont be fooled by the exterior and location in a small strip mall, once inside the the decor is very authentic and cozy. Thai music gently plays in the background. The staff couldnt be nicer or more accommodating. The food is fantastic and just as good as most any place in Thailand. I found the spice level of most dishes was westernized, so if you like a little heat dont be afraid to ask for more spice in your dish. Very impressed and making this my new go-to Thai spot!

Great place for Thai food. The lychee martini is tasty. The crispy duck panang is one of my favorites. It gets very busy in the evenings, so reservations are recommended. Terrible food and service!1) We went to dine out on a Sunday evening and it took them 25 mins to seat us2) Finally the seat we were given was right by the kitchen and it was the waiting area for folks coming in for pick-up. How can you eat when you have 4/5 people standing right next to you?3) When we asked that we should be moved to another table, they told us that there are many guys waiting outside. Finally, we had to tell them that we are feeling uncomfortable sitting at this small table right next to each other with so many people standing next to us overlooking us while we eat. So, either we should be moved to another table or we shall cancel our order4) Finally, after 25 mins of wait, we got our Tom Yum soup which was decent and after another 10 mins, we were moved to another table5) We order Grilled Salmon and Jungle Curry and I have to say that Salmon was far from being grilled. It was way overcooked and felt like it was boiled/steamed. The texture was pretty bad as the fish would disintegrate while I tried to cut it and was without any flavor. The only flavor was the curry that was poured on top of it. Its a pretty sad dish specially when it was for $176) Jungle curry was served 12 mins after Salmon and I had to start eating first with my wife waiting for food so the fish doesnt go cold. Finally, when the curry arrived, it was sour to say the least with curry missing from the dish and lacked any flavor5) We were so hungry that we just stuffed ourselves with rice and minimal curry that we could get out of our dishesI am not sure how the place has got good reviews but we had a terrible experience and would definitely not go back again
