Hands down some of the best food Ive ever had. The menu is thoughtfully crafted and innovative, but also executed extremely well. Every dish has excellent flavor combos that make you savor every bite.Service is great too, they take time to explain everything and are very friendly/relaxed.Well deserving of the Michelin guide, this is a place you cant miss.

Its been on my list for a while now, but finally made it out here. 3 of us girls came for a bday celebration and we just went down the list and ordered everything that sounded good to us.Red Onion Focaccia Bread - is a must and a great starter. It is freshly baked, and served warm with the delicious herb & parmesan butter.Kingfish Sashimi - the ponzu on here completes this dish.Persian Cucumber & Baby Tomatoes - the tomato gelee - the chefs here are a creative geniuses.Hand Cut Pappardelle - never have I loved short rib ragu papparadelle so much.Indian Egg - our servers suggestion and it tastes better than it sounds - basically Scottish egg with Indian spices.Coffee Glazed Pork Belly - the rice porridge with the fattiness of the pork belly is heavenly.Chocolate Creme Brulee - I didnt think I can enjoy this as much as a regular creme brulee, but the chocolate with the mini marshmallows was done perfectly in this dessert.This restaurant is very small and intimate, but that what makes it a fun and cozy atmosphere. The service is attentive and gave us great tips on how/what to order so that it wasnt too much food. I will be coming back as I heard the menu changes all the time, and again, everything was so good.

Like everyone else, came for the breakfast burrito. It was good but absolutely nothing special. Far better places to get a breakfast burrito such as wake n late. That being said it was good. If you’re in the area then sure definitely go try them out. 7.6/10

The only reason Im giving this place 4 stars is that Ive yet to dine in person. That being said, the breakfast burrito is BOMB!Know that they stop the breakfast burrito sales at noon and, as a pro tip, call ahead and order as the preparation takes around 25-30 minutes. They take orders via phone and Instagram! We did not know any of this before our arrival but the customer service was fantastic and the woman assisting us gave us all the details. She even recommended a coffee shop down the way if wed like to check out whilst waiting (we decided to hit the Saloon instead and the spicy bloody Mary was perfection).Once we acquired the goods we headed down to the beach to indulge. At first glance, the burrito was a thick stubby thing but packed some heft! Then, as we started eating the burrito we were amazed at the balance of flavor and texture! The house-made chorizo was perfectly seasoned, a place not afraid of some salt (yes!). Not to mention, the salsas were a great addition to the burrito with the Rojo being my favorite (Im a Verde girl usually).I was very VERY pleased and satisfied, and I was stuffed to the brim! To say the least, I was not hungry for hours after!I highly recommend this place and I cant wait to experience their dinner service!As a note, follow their Instagram. They offer up limited specialty pre-order burritos!

This is the kind of place you hate to talk about because it’s so amazingly delicious and cool you know that sooner than later it will be impossible to get a table. Unassuming from the outside but bustling and welcoming inside. Just the right kind of busy and volume to feel energized and social. Quickly has become one of my faves. Inviting, rustic interior, incredibly knowledgeable, friendly family, staff and owners, INCREDIBLE food. And they switch things up regularly so savor the bite on your fork because whatever you love may not be there next time. (Good advice for life actually. 😉) From the execution to the presentation to the timing, this place is crushing it. Try the Crudo! In whatever form they have it. Its always phenomenal. Their pasta is spot on... Gnocchi Nero... Im obsessed with BLACK! The Indian Egg! So so good. And if they ever bring a gazpacho back... I might move in. 🤣

Best breakfast burrito ive had. as Chef Tyler says, its all about balance. every bite is full of BAM. I am in love with their red sauce. Good amount of spicy + smoky. If you havent had these burritos yet, you are missing out. Just to give you an idea, theres another spot that is popular for breakfast burritos down the street.... True fine dining in the least likeliest of corners. Barans has been a long time South Bay staple for fine cuisine. However, the word is out. Last year we ate there the night before Super Bowl Sunday and sat next to a father and daughter who were here for the Super Bowl from Chicago. Barans is widely renowned and deservedly so.

Breakfast Burrito = Great. This is the Ferrari of breakfast burritos. I had the bacon burrito which was rich in flavor, well balanced. The texture stood out the most. The burrito has a nice, soft, pillowy, uniform, chew. The flavors mix together nicely. Every bite was a new discovery. Almost, as if, Barans broke the rule and reinvented the burrito. The green salsa was one of the best Ive had and the smokey red salsa was equally inviting. If you want the perfect morning . . . take a friend, grab coffee and a few burritos, park on the esplanade and watch the waves roll in.

This is our favorite restaurant in the South Bay. The unassuming strip-mall exterior belies the excellence of the experience. The service is always wonderful. The servers are attentive, engaging, and know everything about the food. Its a great experience but the star of the show is the food. I had a reimagined tamale here that was one of the best things Ive ever eaten. The fried chicken is extraordinary. You cant go wrong. Barans is an absolute treasure.

I am a foodie who gardens, cooks, makes food based on what is ripe oit my garden from scratch, and has eaten at fine dining establishments world wide. This is some of the best food I have ever had. No joke. The entire ambiance is comfy the staff is amazing professional and attentive and friendly and I ate MANY things off the menu and they were all delicous. Wine list is fabulous. If you go you will be glad you did.

This wasy first time at Barans and I was encouraged by the reviews but wasnt totally sure what to expect. The menu seems to work best when sharing plates, and it lets you try quite a few different flavors during the dinner.Our waiter was really great at making recommendations and we ordered everything he suggested. Minor substitutions or exemptions are allowed and literally everything we tried was great, so I can only assume everything is good.Scallops were cooked perfectly and were deliciousWe also had the crab and gnocchi which were light and fluffy and in a delicious sauceAnd our favorite was the ceviche. Absolutely a perfect bite of flavors and textures.Oh yeah, we also had the churros and chocolate for dessert and what we were given was such a wonderful take on the dessert. This is my favorite restaurant, hands down. Ive not had anything I didnt enjoy, and Ive tried quite a bit of the menu. The menu itself has dishes inspired by different cultures (ex: Indian egg, mojo pork belly, red curry hallibut).Pros:-Delicious.-They Introduce new menu items regularly.-Friendly staff (I think theyre all family as well).Cons:-Can be pricey, entrées range from about 10 to 18, with the higher end items like steak being around 30.-Very busy place with limited seating, make reservations.-Menu changes can sometimes mean your favorite Coffee Toffee dessert is off the rotation.Overall, the cons for the place are negligible. The prices are worth it for the quality of the food, reservations are a norm, and menu changes mean variety (and is also in the pros section for that reason).Its definitely worth a try, and the staff can provide recommendations on the menu. A good place to start is the smoked-and-fried chicken. Also the focaccia is great if you enjoy bread with an awesome sun dried tomato and herb butter spread on the side.

Many people have asked me what are my 5 points of a wonderful experience from a Chefs point of view? Ambience, knowledgeable/willing staff, decor, presentation and flavor. I didnt dislike Barans, by any means, but nothing significantly stood out as truly excellent. That said, nothing was bad either. But with all the other local food options and Barans prices, I probably wont be back.My table had the spicy jerk wings (I liked these a lot, but be prepared to sweat. They are VERY HOT. perhaps slightly salty for my taste, though.) fococcia bread, and civiche as apps. The civiche was the most enjoyable part of the meal for most of us.For main dishes, we had the elk chops (good but not exceptional), the smoked & fried chicken (the table all agreed this was the best main dish - the sweet sauce was delicious), gnocchi (not much flavor. The person at the table who had this does not like any spicy food and found this to have a kick), and sea bass (least favorite of the bunch).They could use a few other non-red meat options on the menu.The butter cake for dessert was excellent.Overall, this was not a bad restaurant at all, but for the price, I think I have better options.

Everything was excellent, but there were a few standouts. Which is to say the bar is pretty high here. The wine list is impressive and well selected along with a good selection of beers on tap and some bottles. Their cheese and charcuterie menu had as many individual items as most restaurants entire menu. Separated by hardness and type of milk. Paired with super top notch smoked and cured fair, its a foodie dream. I had the smoked fried chicken, scallops, brocollini, brussel sprouts and the green beans along with a dark ale. Everything was an explosion of bold flavors spiked heavily with a bounty of citrus in many forms. Flavors varied from Thai to Indian to Moroccan in inspiration, but never lingered in one place to long. Citrus yogurt and shaved cucumber tzatziki were some of the creative touches to these dishes. The scallops were so perfect I felt guilty eating them and I want the brussel sprouts to bear my children. Awesome helpful service as well.

Wow - such a flavorful, well-balanced and expertly prepared bacon breakfast burrito! Not typically my selection for breakfast, it was the COVID option for Sunday morning, and it did not disappoint. In fact it exceeded expectations. The red and green salsas served on the side were tasty with just enough heat to pleasantly linger on my tastebuds.
