A great spot for Korean food in this area. Their popularity is no question with aromatic soups that are perfect topped on rice. Their variety of banchan also does not disappoint with fish cakes, kimchi, and sometimes potato salad. My only comment is that the wait is often long, so I wouldn’t reccomend if you’re in a rush. Otherwise, the overall food and service here is great.

Be prepared to wait; this place stays busy but the food is worth it. The setting casual as they try to take care of all the guests. It’s not fancy but you’re going for the food with this one. The selection is pretty wide. The recommendation is the galbi so I gave it a try. Very good. We also got the fried garlic tofu but had so much food we had to take some to go. My daughter had the spicy pork soon tofu, which she loved. My wife had the galbi combo with the kimchi and pork soon tofu.

I happened to walk by and got attracted by this restaurant then I changed my original plan and decided to give this place a try. It was a real surprise to me because from their appetizers to entrees, it’s so on point! The smash potato opened my eyes because I never know it could be made this tasty with apple and raisins inside. Not to mention the short ribs and tofu soup, portion is decent as well. The service is nice too, the lady came to me and asked if I need more appetizers. Very great experience, if I have a chance will definitely come again.

This place is great but you need to wait for 30-60mins to be seated.The food is awesome! And beware, they come in large servings, including the soup. Two regular-size persons can share, and while waiting for your order, you are given bottomless servings of appetizers. This explains why you pay a bit higher. However, you dont regret coming to eat here.I still want to come back in my next Irvine visit.Highly recommended.👌

I need to write this quick before my food coma ensues me. One of the few sit-down spots open late night in Irvine (probably the only spot.) Walked in on a Sunday night and got seated right away. It was pretty much game over when banchan (side dishes) came out. They are equipped with a armored cart filled with your favorite side dishes; ready to replenish those scantily portioned tiny circular plates. I filled up on 3 double scoops of potato salad before they even brought out my tofu soup. AYCE banchan refills FTW. The interior opened up alot and the wooden decor and lighting gives the place a very homie vibe, which goes perfect with the meal.

Only downside of this place is that even at late night it’s full with people.Last Sunday after all day of moving we were hungry and did not want to cool ourselves.Thanks god this place was open 24 hours!So we went there at 11pm.And the place was full, and there were 9 party ahead of us! We gave up and just went home and cooked instant noodles.Later we went back during day time and able to get a sit.Wouldn’t say best Korean food ever, but definitely up there for a franchise restaurants.And yes we have been to LA main branch since we are from LA. Taste same haha!

I came late might like 11 p.m. in the hope that food was available in the plaza and this place was open. It’s open 24 hours!!! There was a line but it went quick enough. This was my first experience eating a meal at this caliber and I was ready for it! I was Elvia deep in food looked like enough for 2. I got goodies even before my main food. Got the ribs and beef, clam, shrimp tofu soon. Barley tea?!! Yes! It was tasty and Well priced. The only thing I’d say is that the meat on the ribs was a little too chewy. I had been craving raw crab after I saw it online. I didn’t dare try making it myself. Come to find this gem around the corner from my neighborhood. I came in on at off hours bc reviews said waiting time got crazy. I was seated immediately.The crab was everything I thought it would be. Soft and sweet with a delicious spicy sauce. The soft tofu soup caught my eye and I decided on the dumpling option . I am hooked. It was bubbling hot and it was a perfect spiciness at Medium and the egg made it so smooth and creamy. The rice was cooked perfectly and the banchan was delicious as well. Highly recommend

My friends and I visited on 9/16. There was a wait as it was busy but that was no issue. When we began to order our waiter was extremely rude. He seemed very annoyed and exaggerated with facial expressions. When asking simple questions he’d react in a way as if it was the stupidest question. For example we’d ask what made a combo a combo, or what flavors of soju did they have (as it’s not uncommon for restaurants to have flavors). The waiter also did not come back to us once after taking our order as we were left with nothing to drink. We had to get up to get our own boxes, and then that’s when he wanted to help. And the thing is he was seen being attentive to other guest.This interaction was by far the worst I’ve had while going out to eat, so we decided not to tip. I did not feel like it was deserved for the way he made us feel and for the fact he did not even do the bare minimum. The food was okay but nothing to make me excuse the attitude and behavior we received.Lastly I took a picture of the receipt as my friends and I were splitting our meals. Today I look at my statement and I was charged $9 more dollars than what the receipt originally showed. Will be disputing with my bank.

Food only tastes good once the service and atmosphere are good. The service is so slow, like I tried to order but the ladies were like only korean...the lady took about 15 to 25 minutes to take my order... then when I was done. Took 5 minutes to give my check and took roughly 5 minutes to take and give it back about another 5 minutes... literally, they need a manager server at all times.

Easy, crowded location if youre in the mood for sundubu and banchan for lunch. Ordered the bibimbap combo and fried tofu which was portioned enough to share between two people. The menu is quick to understand and the food came out pretty quickly. There are probably better sundubu places but BCD is just too convenient if other places are crowded for lunch.

BCD Tofu House truly impressed me with the quality of their food. Their dishes were prepared to perfection, and the overall meal was delightful. The flavors were well-balanced, and I could taste the freshness in every bite. However, I do feel the service could use some improvement. Great Korean food! I love that there’s a vegan option, it’s rare I can enjoy Korean. The soon tofu soup is really good, and I loved the Banchan that came with our meals. They have something for everyone. I thought their kimchi was just OK, but the other sides were very good. Service is quick, and servers come by often to refill drinks and food as needed. It’s VERY popular, so expect a wait on busy nights. We went on a Friday and we waited about 40 minutes.

Quite good soft-tofu restaurant with a menu that consists of way beyond just the tofu soup. Combo dishes seem better value to order, though the price seems to have increased quite a bit with recent inflation! Like the unlimited refill of the Bandhan and the stone-pot rice. They should add brown and mixed grain rice options to make the meals healthier.

The bill was around 52 and I gave 60 in cash, but the waiter didnt give me any change. I mean, the bill with the tip indeed comes to about 60, and even if the waiter had given me the change, I wouldn’t have taken it back, I would definitely leave it as a tip. However, the waiter shouldnt have skipped the step of giving me my change; I personally feel this does not align with the standard practice and makes me uncomfortable. The food was quite tasty, I enjoyed what they offered, but Im not satisfied with how the change was handled. I can only give three stars. It’s recommended to try their food, and I hope you get better service, but I probably won’t be coming back.

I had a very bad experience. They put a vegetarian sign and served a whole load of stuff made with fish and squid. I clearly said no meat, no egg. I paid 22$ for steamed rice and veggies...waste of my money. I am not coming back. The waitress should do better to explain the dish and what to expect.

Had no respect from greeter. Felt him almost laughing at the fact we were waiting. Greeter literally crossed my name off and had us waiting for 30 min. Worst experience ever with any restaurant. I hope none of you experience this with these disrespectful people. I went inside to ask why my name was crossed off and he apologized. Why? I don’t know. We then started heading out and he starts rushing after us. He said do you want to seat now? Why would anyone wanna sit after this type of service? I visit this location frequently, located in Diamond Jamboree plaza in Irvine. Theres always a line for this place known for their tofu pot and grill meats. The combination meal set will satisfy your hunger. It also comes with side dishes that can be refilled. Come hungry and devour your meal. In terms of service: its a bit inconsistent. Sometimes i got excellent service, and sometimes not so good. And for dessert, if youre craving for something sweet theres a few dessert places to choose within the plaza.

The best Korean food you can find in Irvine! I always enjoy having a meal at BCD. They have a great costumer service and the waiters are very friendly. I think one order of main dishes and one soup will do it for two people. We always have left overs and you will be happy the next day when you have food in your refrigerator. Great Korean food for a great price. Definitely on the expensive side but the portions match the price. I had the stone bowl bimbimbap combo (comes with a sundubu of your choice) and it was a lot of food. The side dishes were also amazing (and a lot). Horrible service! I loved this place, and Ive been here so many times. Food here is still awesome, but their service is not as good as before.Our server didnt refill our side dishes frequently. Most of time, our side dishes kept empty. We asked her TWO times to refill our side dishes. When the first time she came to refill, we asked her to gave us more. The server unhappily told us these side dishes were No to-go. We definitely know that!! We just didnt want to ask her so many times for refill, so we hoped she gave us more at a time.When we asked her to refill the side dishes second time, she did it and then directly put the to-go boxes and the bill on the table without asking anything. However, we were still eating and not ready to leave!! We felt like her behavior meant no more refills and we should pay and leave. Its really a disappointed experience. Well, this tofu soup is the same as most of the Korean tofu restaurants I have been going to. However, the banchan (side dishes) are different. The banchan are kimchi, the pickle cucumber, a scope of potatoes salad (Asian style), fish cake, and a fish per person. All the banchan serves in a very small portion. But they gave out more for the refill. I think it is smart. After all, theres no any business owner like to see people waste the food.For the soup, we ordered one mild seafood and one medium combination. Personally, I think the mild one tasted better than the combination one. But the ingredients inside the soup are not that much. When I said not that much because I only taste lots of tofu, 2 slices of mushroom plus 2 shrimps, 2 clam for seafood and 1 shrimps, 1 clam and few small pieces of beef for the combination in the soup. Other restaurants added more stuff when I had the same type of soup there. To be honest, it is not too cheap for dinner.

Love coming here with family, especially on a cold day. Of youve never been there menu can be overwhelming. The paper people who work there, though busy and moving quickly, are happy to help you understand. I always do a combo which is tofu + entree. Simply put, this place has delicious food and fast service. I went on a late Friday night after a night out with the fam and even with a party of 6, we only waited about 15-20 minutes. Side dishes were brought quick and we feasted on fried mackerel until all our food came out, which came out with good time. Their Kimchi and seafood pancake were definitely the hit of the night. I thought the seafood soondubu and the galbi were pretty good but other members of my party though the food was just average. However, service could improve: When we went Tuesday evening around 10pm. My friend put her name down and we stood near the door to wait because it was raining hard and there was no overhead covering outside. The waiting area was empty, but the manager came over and told us to wait outside for our table even though it was clearly pouring. Luckily the wait was short.

This BCD Tofu House is open again! They recently renovated, expanding the size of the restaurant and improving they overall aesthetic of the dining room. The Irvine BCD is the better of the BCD Tofu Houses in Orange County. While this one was closed for renovations, we were forced to try the other locations. The only other good ones are in LA county. The quality of food and service at Garden Grove is disappointing. Luckily, the Irvine location is back with as vengeance.I went today with two other people, and we ordered our usuals. We were amazed that not only did the sides come out early, the servers cancer by regularly to refill them. I think they changed the recipe for the first cakes, but theyre still really savory and sweet.Im sad that the diamond jamboree location doesnt have 24 hour service anymore. That was the biggest draw to BCD (versus other non-chain tofu houses). I dropped one star because of that.

Place has good food and the convenience of having them open late at night does have its benefits. With that said (and i’m not sure if it’s every server that brings out the sides) each time I have come here to eat, the lady that brings out the sides ALWAYS slams the plate down, and honestly- I always greet them and say hello and thank you. Knowing how brutal the service industry is in restaurants- it can be discouraging working day in day out. But tonight the lady dropped all my plates didn’t respond at all when I said hello/ thank you. Then didn’t ask if I wanted the rice scooped. Purposely, she moves to the next table says hello to them, and scoops their rice! Only reason why I’m leaving this review, Should never single out a guest regardless the ethnicity / environment you’re eating at.

One time dining here, I had kimchi soup and bit into a plastic piece that looked like part of a pen. My gums hurt. And, the manager apologized and did not charge me for the soup. He’s lucky I didn’t swallow that plastic piece. He could’ve at least given me a new bowl, or paid for my dinner. They’re so strung up working so fast with volume of diners, who knows what goes into your meals. Lacking room noise absorbers, you literally need to wear ear plugs when the place gets busy. 5 friends and Me went here last minute and enjoyed the variety of options for everyone. Some had never had Korean food and others really enjoyed several fave dishes. When I asked for food without egg, they gave me food with egg and asked me to remove the egg. But they were gracious enough to make it all over. Vegetarian options weren’t good. Do not recommend it. To top it all, the bill was in Korean and not English so there is no way I know if what I ordered is on the bill or not unless I learn the language.

Sundubu was so delicious! The reviews had our expectations lower walking in, but it was very nice! Our family of four only waited 10 mins for a table and the food/service was great. Next time I will ask that the kids meal come out first. My little one received her plate last and it was VERY hot. A few mins to help my toddler is always a must before the adults eat. I had to ask them to pour water in my pot for 4 times. Also, they didn’t give us a fish in the first place. Once I asked them two more times, the server told me ‘we r grilling it’ and left right away while they were giving out to other tables that customers didn’t even seat yet. When she came back with fish, she told me she didn’t give to us because she thought we wouldn’t want it. Not only are there limited options for this dietary restriction, but after ordering vegetarian soon tofu, they immediately brought 2 full fish to our table (eyeballs and all) and placed them down in front of us along with a couple of other side dishes that they admitted to using fish oil in. I had high expectations and it didnt deliver. I got the spicy pork bulgogi combo and for take out, it took 45 min to get the food.The spicy pork, steamed rice, and kimchi were absolutely delicious but, thats really where that ends.They give you a 5 inch whole deep fried mackerel wrapped in tin foil. Eye ball and all, with mouth wide open, I didnt mind the presentation but, others might. Be super careful though. The bones are obviously still there; they are small and very sharp being inedible. With more work to eat it than its worth.Dont be fooled by the bubbling soup they show and bring out as a side. I was excited about this but, it disappointed greatly. Its barely, I mean barely seasoned. It has meat and tofu in it and thats it. It was eating a spoonful of oil and unseasoned meat or large chunks of tofu depending on the bite. The heavy oil made me start to have a gag reflex so, I had to stop trying to eat it.The dumplings werent the best either. Very basic and not worth the money.Teriyaki chicken is better at flame broiler and half the price.I was a dollar short of spending $40 here for sub-par food. I will easily choose another restaurant in the future.The only things this place has going for it are: they give a lot of food, that its open late, there are dine in tables (outside seating), the staff was nice, and the restrooms are open to customers only. These are the only reasons I gave them 2 stars and not 1.If youre determined to go, you can find things that are decent, however, they might not be worth the price.

Worst service I ever had in US. I ordered to go there, the lady showed no smile and no respect to the customer at all. When I showed her what I wanted to order by pointing exactly the same name and pic at the menus, she had no reaction and just looked at me, doing nothing. My first try of hot tofu soup in BCD. I heard about this restaurant a lot before even when I lived in Korea. It was delicious and side dish was well served. Overall, it was soild and authentic Korean food.

Friendly staff, insanely convenient hours. The menu deceptively makes you believe youre not going to receive a lot of food, but fear not, they shove plates and plates of delicious appetizers and the entree is no joke. Try their spicier flavors!

Shouldn’t even get one star. The boiled dumplings taste like out of a microwave and the food is Just nasty. Besides they waste so much food, it’s all thrown away and the waiters aren’t even allowed to keep their tips omg so sad. It’s a sad place to eat. It’s only “ decent” because it’s “ famous” but other than that worst place ever.

Food always tastes good. Only issue is sometimes I order medium spice level and it is more like a flavored mild. And sometimes I get a mild and its a less flavors medium spice level 50/50 chance of getting your spice level right. But that just makes it more interesting to me.

Love the new expansion. Service was fairly quick. Im surprised how more expensive its gotten. And the entree bulgogi looked like the same size of combo bulgogi and tofu - so I paid $1 more for less food!! It wasnt like that before!! Next time I go Im going to specifically ask the size difference!

Yesterday went here for dinner with my bf. Had an unpleasant night. When I first just sat down and my seat was still not warm yet, the server was already being so pushy and kept on coming to me about 5 times and asked if I was ready to order yet (I wasnt ready apparently!) Felt like I was unwelcome, and they just wanted me to leave the store. Later on, when I was eating, and I needed something else, at that moment, no one was available........ What a service! I remember that BCD used to have the bell system, and the customers could ring the bells if they needed help. They definitely need to bring those back! Since I was very disappointed by their service, I dont think Im gonna come back here anytime soon...

Tofu soup was so good and not too spicy for me. I devoured it. Kalbi was good but it looked bigger in pictures. My pieces were also a but rubbery and one piece had mostly fat. Side dishes were plentiful and they even had fried fish as one side. Gyoza was fried perfect as well. Definitely recommend trying this place

The food tastes a little difference since the renovation. Its not as good as it used to be, but I still like this chain. As one who has grown up eating Korean food, its really nice to have a nice Korean restaurant near UCIs campus.

Great food. Opens late, small combos are only $11. All the side dishes are refillable. Loud, crowd, almost always a wait. No music, just loud dishes being bused. Otherwise always on point.

Took bf to try tofu for the first time - he enjoyed everything. the corvina, banchan, &short ribs were fantastic. he didnt care for the tofu, preferring meats, but I always enjoy bcds food.4 stars because getting service was challenging after good was served.

My taste buds always thank me when I visit this spot. My go to is the short rib and house tofu and hot spiciness.The sides that they give include but are not limited to a small fish, fried tofu triangles, kimchi, mashed potato with tiny pieces of orange (don’t hate until you try it), and more.My GF doesn’t really like tofu much, but she stole my tofu soup bowl and ate it all!

This is my review of post-remodel.I dont appreciate that the banchan is not brought out until the food is brought out. They used to bring it out earlier- which is custom. But on tonights visit, I noticed many tables receiving their banchan about 30 seconds before their meal is placed on the table. This is either sloppy or cheep. Either way, I dont care for it.No paper towels in the bathroom anymore? Not exactly sanitary. Dont believe me? Google it.Waiters walking into toilet stall with aprons on? Disgusting and possibly in violation of health code.Edit: Tonight they brought the entre out with the soup? Really? Is the kitchen not able to properly time meals?Edit: tonights service was definitely subpar. Entre came out well before the soups, which both tasted watered down. Banchan, on this visit, seemed less on point - more of something youd expect of a restaurant that served thousands and not one that was focused on the experience. My fear is that this is what BCD has become.

Always eat here while in Irvine. The food is authentic in Korean flavor. Often a Long waiting line, tho, but thats part of the price for good food!
