This place was rated as #14 best burger in America, according to Yelp. Believe it! That French Pastry dough used to encase the two beef patties make for an excellent combination. This is a small woman owned business but has lots of passion and it shows in their food. Get either the Mac and Cheese or potato salad. Both are excellent side dishes. Outside seating only. Call ahead for pick up. If not, expect a 20 minute wait while they make your order fresh. Everything is freshly made every day. Ample parking in front. Great desserts as well. Outstanding!

Amazing food. Now i know why this is one of best in the country.They bake fresh so either call in early or wait for them to bake it. Been wanting to write a review for this amazing place for a while. Cant say enough good things about Bear bites. Have dinned here multiple times. The food quality and taste is out of this world. Very clean and super friendly staff. Love Chef Bliss and Faye. Unique recepies. Overall mind blowing experience every time.Must try!!!

Faye was so kind! She explained each menu option to us when we walked in. We tried the beef burger and veggie and both were delicious. Everything is made fresh and in house and burger combos come with a generous back of house made chips - will visit again

Unique and delicious! We tried the beef and chicken burgers and they were so good. The spices and the pastry dough really showed that everything was homemade and made with love. Thyme and spicy chips were crispy and the portions were perfect. Everything is made to order and will take about 25 minutes to cook, so call ahead if you dont want to wait.We talked to one of the co-owners, Bliss, and she really cared about our experience and we could tell she had so much passion for the store which reflected in the food. We will definitely be back to taste more of the menu!

Such an original meat patty pie with veggies layered in between. Vegan patty pie was equally delicious. Had the ginger beer soda with my pie. So delicious!!!! Met the owner-chef and she just made a dozen pies that came out of the oven fresh!!! This is truly a bakery in its own right. Loved the menu. It’s takeout or eat on the picnic bench outside. The menu is halal which is a big bonus!!

I moved out of Newark but before I did, I went here pretty much every two weeks for a year and a half and I wish I had discovered them much earlier! I always ordered one chicken and one beef bear bitez and the thyme chips and split them over two days of lunch. So good even left over. The flavor is perfect, always steaming hot inside when I got home. Very nice staff and owner. I moved away 6 months ago and miss this place more than anything else in Newark!

The burgers here wrapped in a layer of puff pastry was delicious. Gooey cheese which complimented well with the beef patty and pickles. Definitely a very unique burger.Also ordered the mac and cheese which was ok but nothing exceptional.Ordered some food using ezcater for this restaurant to be delivered to the office. The delivery experience was not quite up to par since the restaurant did not have the food ready by the delivery time and no notice was given to me. Once the food arrived 30 minutes after the scheduled delivery time, some individually labeled orders were missing. They did eventually get these delivered 1.5 hours after the scheduled delivery time. Thankfully ezcater gave a customer service recovery with a discounted order and future coupon which was nice.

Bear Bitez is a good place if you want to get a snack. The puff pastry wrapped burger is very tasty, but the portions lean on the small side. Definitely order ahead as it takes a while if you walk in an order. Its great if you dont mind waiting because everything is made to order, but it does take up quite a bit of time.

So finally tried this place, and kicking myself for not going earlier. Great service, great food and great local spot! So lets start with most important part...FOOD! My lady and I both got the beef. THEY DO NOT SELL OUT! Unlike other reviews we asked the owner, she says its the wait, if they just get into oven can take 20+ minutes. So they arent out for the day, just until new batch is ready. Our burger was delicious and that crust of the bread was delicious. Down side, you cant customize. For me thats not a problem, I like it how it is. For others, just try it, really, even my lady is picky and she liked it, so just try it. We got 1 of each style chip to try them all. I loved the hot, but thyme and salt were good too. The soda is made in Alameda so its local and its delicious. We also got a chocolate and white chocolate chip cookies. They are made fresh daily and they are so soft and delicious.Service, owner (believe she is since pix are on the wall) was very nice. She helped us order, made sure we were ok with the wait of the beef (10-15 mins) and then followed up to be sure we liked everything. Very nice, very professional, great service.Cons: 3 tables and a bar style seating. So not much room, but thats ok, either squeeze in or take it to go! Worth it.I will be back again, this place rocks! Try it as the chef prepared it and you wont be disappointed!

Please support this local business GEM! This is my first time trying Bear Bitez and I could absolutely tell that the owner/chef here puts lots of love and passion in creating her burgers. This is not your average burger. You can taste the time and effort she put in testing the flaky puff pastry, different blends of meats, and cheese to truly developing her flavor. The beef burger was amazing and incredibly juicy. I was expecting the chicken to be the same assembly as the beef so I was surprised when I found out it was Mexican inspired with a chicken patty, jalapeños, and a different cheese. I would love to try a shredded chicken version of this one. The owner told me before the pandemic they would be making the burgers every 20 minutes. Now with decreased foot traffic, they only make it to order so there is a wait but absolutely worth it. This is an amazing hard to find burger that I would certainly come back time and time again.

This place blew us away. The interior is pretty casual and seems like a simple takeout place, but the actual product is far and above fancier than you’d think! Flaky puff pastry encases fresh double patties with a bit of acidity from pickles and tomatoes. For the price, it’s a steal for this level of quality in craft and ingredients. I also loved their usage of local soda purveyors - the ginger beer has a serious kick to it.

Aside from Bitez which are number one, I’ve never had such a delicious potato salad. While not drowned in mayo, it is moist and sooo tasty. You can feel the freshness of the ingredients. I’m not a soda person, but loved the ginger one!

Unique spin on a classic burger. This is my first time trying something wrapped in a puff pastry and I loved it.The burgers take up to 25 minutes to prepare so it is best to order ahead. The wait is worth it though! I recommend trying a beef burger with a potato salad side and ginger ale. Add some hot sauce to the burger and you got a meal with a spicy bite!

The burger with French pantry with beef, chicken and veg. The taste is amazing. We had beef and chicken that day. Beef is very juicy and they even do the butcher part on their own. Chicken one the flavour is rich. We love both of them. Not to mention the local sourced beverage with cane sugar and chips.The environment is cozy and neat! I will definitely visit the place again.

This is stuffed pastry which looks like a burger. Took few minutes as it is baked after you order. It was flaky, hot and really yummy. The thyme chips were really good as well. I would love to try an actual burger made using the same bun with some fresh greens. Will be coming back again.

Organic, non GMO, never frozen, made in small batches everyday, in house. Very simple menu. Your options are chicken, beef or veggie patties stacked in puff pastry and then baked. Unfortunately, they are pre-stacked and baked. Therefore, no special orders can be made. They also carry artisan sodas made with pure cane sugar. Amazing!

Superb burgers. Very unique. Service was mind blowing. May take a few minutes for you to get your burger because it is always fresh but definitely worth the wait. Customer service exceeded any and every expectations. I was craving for some Turkish tea and what do you know! I see these fancy tea glasses behind the counter. I asked the lady if they actually served tea which they didnt. The glasses and tea was for their own employees. While we were enjoying our burgers she came out with two cups of tea and these delicious soft fresh baked cookies. On the house!!!!!! I was so impressed and humbled at the same time. Thank you!!!!!!

Unique burgers where the bun is a pastry. Big downside is the 20-25min wait, but the payoff is outstanding. Fresh pastries over a burger is an excellent idea. Price isnt bad. Owners/ staff were very patient and understanding.Tried their chips- pink salt flavor- and I was a fan of those as well. Definitely want to go back again.Update: 9/23/22. Food is still great and affordable. Tasted their mac and cheese and cookies, neither of which was amazing, but it wasnt bad at all either. Mac and cheese wasnt overdone. Cookies were soft.

Very tasty food! We finally decided to try it. We have been missing out. We ordered ahead so very easy pick up. Got the beef Bear Bites. Two quality beef patties with cheese and tomatoes inside the pastry. Family loved it. Son even ate the tomatoes which he usually removes from burgers. The pink salt chips just the amount of salt to accent the chips. Also got the apple turnover for dessert. Best apple turnovers I had in quite awhile. Yeah maybe the bear Bites run a lil small but if you did like we did and added a dessert, a very filling and delicious meal. Definitely will be going back and soon!

Such a unique and amazing burger. This is on many aspects, a unique and novel experience that you haven’t seen elsewhere. These guys are really bringing something new with what seems to be a careful recipe for a delicious burger. I loved the savory beef burgers and my husband kept marveling at the veggie burger. Very friendly people here! I came in just to try the veggie burger and was very happy with it!it had unique flavors and cheese on top was just great! It was wad served fresh as well. I dont think itll scratch the same itch if youre really in the mood for beef, but its definitely a must try. The chips and soda they have here are special too. Despite not ordering a drink, they let me sample the different sodas and I was quite surprised! Definitely a different taste made with cane sugar. I tried out the ginger beer made with real ginger and the spices hit it me hard but in a good way. Overall definitely worth at least checking this place out. You can tell that the owners really care about their guests. I know that Ill be back again!

Great place with a unique take on the classic burger. They wrap it up in pastry puff dough like a beef wellington. The burger has a nice crispy crust while the insides remain nice and juicy. Yummy burgers with awesome sodas. These burgers are a little more like beef Wellington than a regular burger. The burger and toppings are enclosed in a flaky pastry. Ive had the beef and the chicken so far and loved the chicken the most - it has jalapenos that cut the richness. The burgers are rich because of the pastry so, if youre not really hungry consider splitting one.The sodas are locally made with cane sugar. They are the best. Im partial to the ginger beer soda but they are all well worth a trip. The chips, not fries, are also fresh and locally made. I like the spicy version.Bear Bitez is all about high quality and you taste it. Its a special place. Enjoy.

Creative take on a burger! The pastry complimented the savory taste of the burger. I tried the veggie mushroom burger and my friend tried the beef burger and we enjoyed the veggie burger more because it was less messy and they really nailed it.Their chips are also creative and I would definitely try all if you can! Eat your words. A burger is not just a burger anymore. It is now baked in a pastry and made just right. If you are a foodie then you would understand that trying food as the chef designed it is the only way you should eat. The one setback is they are as is and no substitutions. Although they are delicious. I had the beef burger and chicken burger and both were excellent. The spicy hand crafted chips were magnificently paired with these flaky delights. I am a fan and really enjoyed the food. The homemade cookies were also a huge success. A must have dessert.

Very delicious, but the liquid cheese shot out and scalded my hand multiple times, I had to repeatedly try to pour it out of the sandwich, but it kept happening. So not necessarily an experience I want to repeat. Also takes very long to prepare (its a fresh pastry), so order in advance.

I love burgers. I love trying new ones and I love making different varieties myself, but this was the worst burger I have ever had and Ive had some bad ones. When I walked in the person behind the counter was evasive about how big the burgers are. Eventually, she admitted they were less than a quarter-pound. It did arrive quickly. The burger was a greasy mess (and I like greasy burgers). It had a strange flavor, maybe they added peppers? Im not sure. It was horrible. The chips werent much better, nor were the cookies. I wont return. Avoid at all costs

The unique way these burgers are put together with pastry puff instead of traditional buns is a treat you arent likely to forget. It adds to the flavor, and the texture is amazing. I had to take it slow, otherwise I was going to inhale the whole thing immediately! Definitely recommended.

This place is nothing short of DELICIOUS. I came in for a quick bite since it was a new place to eat in the area, and I definitely was not disappointed. Everything here is made with fresh ingredients so the quality is amazing! I love the concept and everything is ready incredibly quick. I started with the Beef combo, and after the first bite realized I needed to try more and ended up ordering the Chicken too. I will for sure be making another visit to try the Veggie, and will also be recommending this place to everybody I know.

I went with my family the other day to try out this place. And it was AMAZING. Their burgers are unbelievable. We tried the beef and their chicken and they were so delicious. A great change of pace, with a different take on the hamburger. I really appreciate the simple menu, as most places have too much, just to try and satisfy the largest number of people, which usually results in the quality suffering. Definitely not the case here!The Owner, Bliss, was wonderful! She took time to chat with us, and even gave us free samples of items we didnt order. Imagine beef and chicken burgers a la meat pie. So delicious. Fresh potato chips in salt, spicy BBQ and thyme flavors. They make them in small batches fresh and sometimes the wait is about 20 mins or more so its advisable to call in first before coming in for dine in or take out. Its not really a bad thing unless youre super hungry.

This is a very unique and tasty take on burgers. My wife and I ended up here from Yelp because it was 4pm, we hadnt had lunch and a burger sounded amazing. Once we got there we found out you have three options. Double beef patty, chicken or vegetarian. These burgers are baked in kind of like an apple turnover but theres a burger inside instead of apple and man oh man is it goodm. Its brilliant.They grind their own burger from grass fed high end beef. Everything is very high end. The fountain drinks are hand crafted sodas with cane sugar. I had the cola which was phenomenal.We neglected to get the combo with chips as we really dont eat chips much. The owner gave us a basket because he wanted us to try them. They were amazing. We brought them with us and finished them in the car. They cut thr potatoes and bake them on site. The salt they use is Himalayan pink salt. All ingrediants for everything are very high end. I just cant say enough about how good this place is and how much care is put into the food.I took a burger to go and it was the freshest next day burger Ive had. Because it is encased it stays really well as oxygen is not getting to the burger, tomatoes etc. This place is awsome. I wish it was closer to our house.

Food is great & service is fast. Burgers and chips was delicious so this review is not about the food but the overall experience. I honestly think the cashier lacks customer service. NO SMILES OR WELCOME OR HOW ARE YOU.Secondly, I couldnt find my wallet to pay, it was buried deep inside my bag and she look annoyed as it took couple of seconds to find.After paying I wanted to sign up for the special discount with my email & had trouble doing so. She just let me struggled and didnt offer to help so I just told told her to forget it.Dining experience includes great customer service. I was alittle alarmed when she took the time to explained to the older couple about their burgers. Perhaps, I wasnt the ideal customer. I dont know. I just didnt feel welcomed.

Only a couple tables inside.Seems to be a two person operation. Tried the Beef and Chicken options with pink salt chips and I must say they were both quite delicious. My better half and I both agree that we like the chicken version more. Chicken is a bit more flavorful to us although the beef is tasty as well.Owners as others have mentioned were very very nice and that alone would make me return.The location is a drive off the freeway but I hope they are successful and expand/open another location that is more convenient for me soon.Edit: Returned and have sent several friends and fam here. I love this place awesome food and the staff very friendly. Great customer service, the chips very good cookies as well. And the burgers just cant eat one, Ive been there at least 6 times even went today. I work in SSF so its about a half hour drive well worth it.Burgers anyone ? Go to Bear Bitez

The food here is amazing and service is top notch. Its clear the people here put love in thier food and take pride in their business. The menu looks small but they do it well. I also apprciate the vegetarian options and locally sourced products, right down to the soda! Have never left here disappointed with the food or experience.

Waste of gas driving here at 3pm on a weekday and then they’re closed. No sign stating their hours posted anywhere. Google maps showed they’re open till 7 pm. It is the responsibility of the restaurant to make sure their hours are updated on google maps and yelp.
