Oscar our chef and Alana our waitress were WONDERFUL!! My sister and I went in for lunch and we were the only ones at the table in the beginning then another lovely Lady joined our table and soon after a very nice older couple. We all started talking along with Oscar and it was a wonderful time. You would’ve thought we all came together lol. It was the best lunch hour I’ve had in a really long time. Not to mention the steak was literally melting in my mouth. A+ all the way around!! The manager Joshua was super friendly as well, we spoke with him before our meal and he checked on us again after. Great experience!!

Celebrated my birthday and I highly recommend the Seared Tuna. It’s been my fav for a while and never disappoints! Our chef Patrick was great and his jokes were on point. Overall loved the dining experience here, per usual!

The lobster is good. The garlic fried rice is good. The beef is ok because it is tender. I prefer rib eye rather than fillet. The dessert is great. The zucchini and the onions are tasty.The mushroom soup is meh.

My girlfriend and myself ate dinner here and shared a table with a family of four. We had a very good time and the chef was very kind and entertaining while cooking. I really enjoyed the food and thought the quality was up to par for the price. I would come back here and really do recommend getting the shrimp and the lobster.

Its a spectacular cooking show to watch. The dishes are cooked for each person who gets to choose their main protein (beef, chicken, tofu, and fish). Its a 5-course meal with each appetizer being filling and delicious. The chef will cook and play with your food as the meal continues.2 dipping sauces are provided at the start for extra flavor.1st - Soup, flavorful and light!2nd - Salad, comes with carrots, onions, and lettuce. Benihana is overall a fun way to experience dinner, the food is good but seeing it prepared by a skilled chef is always a fun touch. Though for what you get, the price is way too expensive to be able to justify eating here too often. Even with $30 off for two people, the cost was still about $45 per person.

This was my first time to Benihana. A good friend treated me to dinner for my birthday! The food was great! The chef was a lot of fun and all the staff were fabulous! Service was great! The food was delicious. The server and chef were amazing (such wonderful people). The issue was with the reservation system. We made a reservation for 7:30. We were seated at almost 8:30. We were told they were short chefs. Totally understandable....but please relay that. Keep your customers/guests in the loop.

Dont go if you want an authentic hibachi experience. Its more like stand up comedy, okay food, semi okay service (a lot of attitude) & the place needs an overall upgrade; change its carpet & maybe upgrade the bathroom.Staff: I have empathy for lack of employees but this wasnt that! The lack of attention & service to our table was noticeable. We asked for water along with our drinks when we first ordered, we got it at the end of our meal. Zero offers for refills (like not even once). Ice cream came with some of our food, when taking the order she completely skipped the people that didnt get ice cream & didnt offer... my aunt had to tell them Ill pay for my ice cream you can still offer it. Everyone got a handful of staff singing happy birthday for their table, the lights would go off they light a candle & take a picture. Ours they brought ice cream with candle that went off before my mom could blow it & no pictures were taken & 2 staff that showed up looked like the last thing they wanted to do was be there (one of them being assigned to our table).Chef: if you are looking for authentic chef with skills this is not a place. The only entertainment was stand up comedy. The sauce were not handed out so when my mom got her chicken (she got her food before anyone else) we had to ask for sauce bc the chicken had zero flavor. The chef with attitude gave us our sauce as the rest of our food got over cooked. The sauce are supposed to be given before they start cooking. And when we mentioned that we were given A LOT of attitude. Zero tricks while cooking when he was done servicing (VERY messy) us he made a volcano. He looked tired, he mentioned he was tired and the experience was extremely awkward.Manager: at the end of the meal I asked to talk to the manager I made it clear I am not looking for a refund I just wanted to be heard but instead Most of the time he was telling me about his inspiring life story.

Save your money and time. We made a reservation and it took them 30 minutes to seat us. It took them another 15 minutes to serve us SOUP. Soup! Then another 15 minutes to get salads out. Everything was disappointing- well, the cook did try, but he was fighting an uphill battle. The steak was so bland and tough- we ordered medium and it was so dry. The waitress didn’t even wait to hear us answer her question if we were celebrating anything after she asked. The couple next to us said they were celebrating a birthday and she just moved on after their answer. We went to celebrate my son winning first place at a chess tournament and he loves hibachi steak. We just moved here from the east coast and this was the only hibachi place nearby. Such a disappointing experience. I would NEVER recommend this place. Also, by the time we left the table, they hadn’t sang the birthday song to the couple. Maybe they did it after. I hope so. Hope they enjoyed the night more than we did.

Such a great place for a birthday dinner! Visited this location for my little sisters bday. The chef there was great. Apparently we had the best chef making our food and he didn’t disappoint. The workers Aurelio and Philippe were great and provided wonderful service. Definitely recommend going to this location (Newport, CA) for some fun and bomb food.

We waited long despite having a reservation, then our chef wasn’t funny, hardly talked to us. The food was too salty and had so much soy sauce on everything. Atmosphere was loud and hectic. Tables are so close together I could hear others better then those at our own table! The servers were great, even in the surrounding chaos they were able to assist us with what we needed.

There was no issue with the service. However, the food quality was really a tragedy. I am really disappointed. I will give a one-star review if I don’t take the services into consideration.I ordered the Benihana Special with a “medium rare steak” and cold water lobster tail. The lobster was overcooked and very salty. Speaking of the steak… does that look like a medium rare steak??? It’s almost well done!!! Super super chewy… in a bad way. The chicken breast was overcooked as well. Too bad.We will never visit again and will for sure let our friends know that it is not worth it at all to give it a try…

I booked a table on a Monday night for 5 people for 6:45pm. We waited and waited in the bar. We finally got called to the table approx 7:45pm. We didnt order until 8:00pm. Then it took about another 10 minutes for the chef to come. We didnt leave until approx 9:30 and with an 8 year old thats tough. It ruined my husbands birthday dinner. No apologies either. We will find somewhere else for Teppenaki next time

I highly recommend to encourage your staff to have better attitudes and service, a positive attitude can significantly impact interactions with customers and clients. Yesterday, was my sister’s birthday and I was very disappointed with the customer service and chef service. Underwhelming and disappointing. We had an 8:30pm reservation and arrived at 8:25pm. We were seated at 9:00pm, after several requests for explanations on the delays, and food didnt start until 9:30pm. The staff seemed really disorganized and rushed. They asked several times if we were celebrating a special occasion, which we were for our son, but didnt wait for an answer and then just moved on. The food was incredibly bland, especially the steak. To top it all off, the manager seemed really disingenuous when he did his rounds to check on guests, like he was just checking a box and pretending to care. All in all, we wont be returning. Its wasnt cheap either, over $200 for just the food for a family of 4, but the worst part was they ruined what was supposed to be a celebration dinner for our son.

Reservation highly recommended; otherwise, you will be waiting a long time. Even with a reservation prepare yourself to wait at least 15-20 mins. Your Chef usually does some form of entertainment. On the night that we went, our Chef was not particularly lively. He was more concerned about entertaining a family that could have been a regular because that family was on a first name basis with the chef. The food was decent. We have not been to Benihana in two years but I remember the food tasting way better than the night we went. We had a difficult time understanding our server. Getting a refill on your beverage was a daunting task. Finally, NO PARKING. We had to park at the car wash. The only meal that was DELICIOUS that night was the sashimi appetizer. Oh and if you like ice cream, I highly recommend the Green Tea one. At least we got a $30 birthday coupon for joining the Chef Table. This place is usually a birthday place tradition for us. I was a bit disappointed this time around.

I was really looking forward to some Benihana food. It was a Sunday, last minute choice and didn’t need the Teppan experience so ordered and ate in the bar. Ordered tempura shrimp, pork dumplings, seaweed salad, an eel roll, and chicken fried rice which was the craving that brought us there.Food was okay, the tempura shrimp wasn’t quite cooked enough as the crispy outside was gooey on the inside; the chicken fried rice was pretty salty but bland.The cookies and cream milkshake and nigori sake were excellent!All in all, this supper trip was just okay but Benihana is a tradition in our family so will always go back.

Food is very good. Be aware that it takes a bit of time to be served as you are waiting to have a full table.Salad dressing was odd. Three out of three of us agreed never again because it is not as good as it used to be. It was more of a paste consistency this time. Be warned, they do not de-vein the shrimp, they just toss them on the grill after shelling them off stage. Steaks were good quality.Our chef was kind and efficient at cooking. The show was good.Over-all the price was reasonable for what we had. Other than the salads, it was good. No one left hungry.

What a disappointment?! Im officially not a regular anymore!Went to a late, non busy lunch hour of 2 pm.Luke, our waiter was either new, incompetent or high? Definitely a let down.We weren’t greeted and walked by repeatedly before our server eventually decided to acknowledge us.Although a quiet afternoon, only 3 tables of patrons and server was largely non existent but when he did show up he rarely remembered what to bring? We asked for silverware 3 times with food in front of us and had to wave him down?? Simple but necessary items, like dipping sauces, had to be asked for. Zero sense of urgency for anything. Last three times they have been out of chocolate ice cream so I no longer believe they just ran out, get someone who can handle inventory…Asked for our check. Watched him handle five checks for main dining hall, drop check/receipt holders into garbage and fish them out and hand them to customers without sanitizing them!!! Was on his cellphone too while we wait and wait for a check.The meat wasnt cooked right, the sashimi had an odd texture, and worst of all, unsanitary fruit flies badgered us throughout meal. Yuck - if they are this bad on serving floor - I dont want to see behind the bar or kitchen. Yikes!Again, I used to be such a big fan... but for a $90 lunch we expect a decent experience.

The price here does not equate to the quality of food or service. There are a lot of fees that are not obvious to the menu; incredibly overpriced drinks in particular make up for what appear to be low prices, and I don’t mean the alcohol. I find better food and hibachi chefs for much cheaper back home, something not typical - typically restaurants in California, especially Japanese-inspired restaurants and sushi, are much better than they are in my landlocked home state of Colorado, even if they are more expensive. Not so for Benihana. Some neat decor though!

He was a very large Hispanic man not to be prejudiced at all, but this is not what I expected and she was talking about pico de gallo and other Mexican inferences food wise. Making a reservation and the hostess were fantastic, as was the ambiance of the restaurant. The food was also great. However the server seemed to be in a bad mood and made it seem like a chore to be there. When the cook came out he was complaining about how much he had to work and then made a vegan member of our party feel very uncomfortable. This is not the setting to debate a customers food choices especially when paying over 250$ for a special occasion experience. He also claimed that Sriracha wasnt vegan because it had a chicken on the label. Looking at the ingredients later on proved he was wrong. No chicken in it dude! They have a vegan tofu spicy steak but since they put beef flakes in the sauce (not very vegan) you get a couple slices of tofu and some zucchini. Thats it. I had read the chef will usually put together something special for vegans and they certainly have all the ingredients to do so, but he did not even try, at all.I would highly recommend this restaurant in general, especially to anyone who has never been. The service was subpar and borderline offensive. He wasnt even that into the cooking or putting on a show. Disappointing but under better circumstances it could be a wonderful experience.Also noteworthy if its your first time: they sit you at a table with others depending on how many people youre with. They originally sat us with a girl (and family) who was having a birthday (13) and she was not happy about it and left the restaurant. So make sure you know what you are getting into before going.

In a nutshell, our waiter Felipe was asked to split our bill in 2 for our party of 4. He had a bad attitude about it but agreed to do so, when he brought the bill it arrived (not split) in a leather sleeve with a paper taped to it that said KAREN, no one else in the restaurant had a name taped to their bill sleeve. The waiter left us sitting for over 30 minutes to correct the checks, and the manager tried to rectify the situation by offering me a $20 gift card for a future visit. Super fun experience for everyone I recommend doing so at least once. I think it is great for birthdays or celebrations. They were honoring walking before reservations. Many groups had reservations but were pushed back because of the computer doing the seating. Thats at least what the manager gave as an excuse. 15 minutes after our reservation time, and after multiple walking were taken before us, our group and another group with the same reservation time slot were finally seated. Every server was too busy to tend to us, and when flagged down, they said they indicated they werent our server. A manager never addressed us until I told the chef the location is poorly run and he told the manager. Then the manager (I guess…no name tag and didn’t even introduce or address himself) came to the table and asked if we needed anything!!!!!!! Not …“We are so sorry… “thank you for your patience”….. “how can I accommodate you” !!!!! ….. Not even so much as an apology offered. We havent been to Benihana during Covid years. Finally we got a chance to visit it again. We expected to have a full meal.But we were disappointed at the food although its still delicious. Compared to previous visits, the big concern is we spend over $200 for a meal but the food was so little and everyone was still hungry (1/3 full)!

They charge for fried rice and no noodles come with the meal... Back hm in ABQ, NM our hibachi comes with fried rice and noodles... And the the price we pay is the same... They only get 4 stars because of the cook and server...

Made reservations, waited for our table and it was my daughters 13th bday. She requested Benihana and it was our first time. We were seated with 7 more people (whom we do not know), cramped and uncomfortable and my daughter sadly said, No blowing of candle, Mom. I asked the waitress if we could get another table and was refused. There was no info ahead of time, if we were okay seating with another group of 7. That made us 11 all in all in table. We left because of inconsideration, lack of communication and denying a customer of their right to have a decent birthday lunch.

Was Waiting at the bar section for 1 hour to be seated for our dinner reservation at 8:30...the bar service section was horrible. I Waiting 20 min for a drink... the second drink was even a longer wait...I asked for a bigger drink glass and was given a small glass... the servers were not communicating with each other. Absolutely the worst! Checked in at 6:30pm and was told it was a 30 min wait. I waited 1 hour and 30 min without any update or communication. I went back to the front desk to see what was the hold up, and was told “ oh some stuff went down in the back, and I can’t give you an update “ I do understand life happens, however the lack of communication and acknowledgment was mind blowing. I recommend hiring people that actual like people, rather the alternative. I will never come back!

Food and dining experience was very good but the seating process was complete chaos. It took almost 30 minutes for us to get a seat, even though we had reservations. Took almost another 30 minutes to start our meal. There were a bunch of other issues with the bathroom being out of order and so on. For as much as you spend to dine here...should be much more organized.

Well 1st and foremost I want to get a special shout out to Ethan, he was a great and awesome server! Kept our drinks coming and wasnt overly Attentive. And Ray our chef! Very funny, very very talented :) absolutely loved the food! My boys got the steak, I got the filet menu, my wife wife got the scallops and steak My boys got the chicken and steak, I got the filet minion, my wife got the scallops and steak, One of my girls got lobster and stake, my other girl got sushi sushi and spicy edamome. Everyone just nodded and smiled! Steak was cooked medium and perfectly seasoned! Everything was delicious!

So on New years day, my roommates family came from out of town to visit. The dad decided to take us to this Benihanas. Well, there was a mishap but, the Manager that was there that day(I didnt get his name), was quick to resolve the issue and took care of everything that we needed. It is soo nice to go to a place and to know that if there is an issue, that management will take care of it with no hassle!!! Thank you sir!!! We will be back soon!!! Btw, the food is excellent 😊

If I could give zero stars I would. I went in with my family late night last week on Sunday. My husband asked if we could still dine in. The hostess went to go ask someone and said sure we’ll take you. A simple no would have been better because the quality of the food was disturbing to say the least. Dry and cold at that. $140 for dry cold food. This was our first time at Benihanas and our last. Oh and there was hair in my husband’s food. We were on a family vacation looking to make good memories but this unfortunately wasn’t a good one.

They dont give you much food and very overly priced They must measure their food. We paid 33.99 just for very little steak shrimp the chef gave more food to others. We enjoyed the show. We learned after reviewing the credit card report that the restaurant charged us for an additional bill (not authorized) which was not our bill. We confronted the manager and he apologized and promised to return the money (about $150). 4 month since this incedent, I am still chasing my money and they never returned it !

Inasmuch that the food was adequate, tasty, this restaurante needs a Lot of work. After walking in the hostess never looked up, no welcome! Or getting period. I walked right up to her - was deeply engrossed in her iPad floor plan no doubt. The place just seems in such chaos, as of it was their first day on the job. I went into the bar since I arrived first, got a drink that was called benihana lunch that was the worst. IT was nothing short of pure-syrupy sugar with a slight after taste of vodka. People waiting in the entry way were frustrated, wondering why they still had not been started & the mánager was not friendly or becoming whatever. He seemed to be just as confused as the rest of the staff. Our food runner was excellent as he was very overwhelmed but got things right & our table chef was also on spot. The bathrooms were like something youd see in NYC subways, I used one earlier & was shocked that a prime property & restaurant with these prices would allow this. My son had mentioned to me the mens was a mess as well. If I come back, things will need to be better. I give them 4 stars due to the 2 people whom I saw working graciously under PRESSURE & good food. Eating out is a total experience. The atmosphere, how well its Presented to the people coming their to eat. The staff here all need to get organized, go out of Their way to greet, smile & not make people waiting, feel their suffering from lack of skill & people management. Please, Hire -pay better people because the present stafft takes away from what Used to be an enjoyable eating experience. I Used to love coming here.

Horrible host to begin with. We came at our reservation time. Host told us there was 1 table ahead of us. We asked why? We have reservation. Host arrogantly said we run behind, totally unapologetic. We do understand that things sometimes dont go as plan, but the host attitude could have been better to save the situation. Gave 1 star at first. Now adding 1 stars for the chef, who tried really hard to keep kids awake (they all fell asleep after the soup, salad, and the long wait before the chef showed up). 1 extra star for decent food, especially the garlic fried rice and the filet mignon.

For the past 14 years, Ive been celebrating all my kids, my husband and my selfs birthday at benihana, it was always our first choice but i dont beleive will go there again.Went today for my Daughters 21st birthday, waited for 1 hour from my reservation time, food was horrible, service was the worthest ever, they didnt have enough employees and bill was extremelly high. Had a very nice time. Get there early and start with the happy hour cocktails, 4-7pm. That makes the dinner show even more fun ;-) All the food was great, as was chatting with strangers at our table. No complaints. Gets busy later (even on a Monday), and parking fills up, so early dinner is better.
