I visited Beolas following a recommendation from a friend.I ordered chicken strips and collard greens. I found the chicken and collard greens way too heavy on the salt.The chicken was good and not greasy. However the seasoning had too much salt. My guess is they use seasoned salt and they use too much in the batter.I had the same issue with the collard greens. They really needed to be cooked longer to help reduce the bitterness and to absorb the other flavors.The staff was nice and friendly and the food was super fresh. I will try it again and hope they reduce the salt.

I brought my mother here for some fried chicken and oxtail. We also had cornbread, mac and cheese, butter beans and rice and sweet tea. It was very delicious. I cant wait to come back and try the pork chops. I have already tasted the catfish and that was also very good.

First time here. Has catfish and greens. Catfish was extremely salty, could not eat. Greens were decent. Friend had chicken and waffle, was just okay. I should have looked at reviews first. If people are telling you food is salty, please change salt amount. Spent close to $50. Not worth it. Will not be back. Service was good but there was attitude in there.

Dont waste your money! We were excited when we called and asked if they still had oxtails left for the day.... Well when the guy on the phone responded we never run out of oxtails we should have known.... They were terrible🤮🤮. We also ordered a smothered pork chop that tasted like it had been sitting in grease. Complete waste of money.

Visited this place, and have to say was not disappointed, service was excellent, food was excellent and will return. Chicken and Waffles are awesome, meat is juicy and well seasoned, waffle was differently not original flavor, homemade ingredients for sure. Highly recommend this place for sure.

First time, the fish was salty greens didnt come with Cornbread who eat greens without cornbread and to much vinegar and tough. Mac cheese was just OK, rice and gravey was not homemade. My friend had chicken and waffle and they was thin and they put the Cornbread with the chicken and waffle. So not a great demand for this place, will not come back. Customers Service was not great, when I asked about Cornbread with my greens, he was not pleasant. I SPENT 55.OO

Since the change of location this food isnt the same. I was very disappointed. I will not be returning. The chicken was so bouncy and dry. Also, the waffles were so thin and would crumb and fall apart. The Mac and chesse was just ok. The only thing I liked was the corn bread other than that, I hate it. Worst $55 ever spent. The guy who Im guessing is in charge (had glasses) had a horrible attitude was rolling his eye at me and another customer. My husband got the pork smothered in onions and he said it was OK.

Visited a few days ago. Service was mediocre, gentleman that helped me was not very friendly. Oxtail was extremely salty, so hot I couldnt even taste it right away. Literally threw it away. Mac n cheese was so dry and bland. The saddest food Ive had in a long time. Not to mention I paid over 50 dollars for 2 meals. Very disappointed, dont plan on going back.

I’m trying to place an order and the guy telling my husband no you can’t use the restroom unless you order beware customer service sucks Had to run to Wendy across the way with my husband being elderly he didn’t make it so the hell with his place I’ll never be back never got the opportunity to try the food. If it’s a young black male serving you be ware his attitude sucks.

The food was absolutely delicious. I had the fried catfish with red b3ans and rice. My husband had the chicken and waffles. We enjoyed every bit of it. The Peach Cobbler has me upset that I didnt get 2 it was that good. We were hoping that our drove from Apple Valley was not in vain and I must say we will definitely be back sooner than later. It is worth the drive. The owner was very friendly.

Love this place. Its clean & conveniently located off 210.. The staff is friendly & you can place phone orders.. The owner is almost there everday. You can order & then shop or Starbucks.. then pick up food. The fish meals are delicious, they have specialty drinks avail. The menu has a variety of soul Cajon food.. and they cater..If your in the upland Rancho Cucamonga area stop by and dont 4get to get that delicious peach cobbler!!!

My grandparents came here for Mother’s Day today and they came in hungry and left hungry and said they would never return. I had been passing by their place in Upland while it was being renovated, and when I saw that they were open, I seized the opportunity to have a business lunch there. I went the classic route the first time, with chicken and waffles being outstandingly enjoyable. The chicken was crisp yet tender inside, with perfect seasoning on the outside, and the waffle was beautifully fluffy, with flavor exploding in your mouth.Fast forward a week later - another business lunch. This time the catfish with potato salad. Fish was fried to perfection, and the seasoning was spot on; the potato salad was extremely enjoyable, regretting getting full very fast.Since then, I have been getting their peach cobbler for customers, as well as for my own team. I also had them cater for a meeting, serving fried chicken, salmon in butter-cajun-sauce, green beans, mac and cheese, potato salad and peach cobbler to round things off. All I can say is I had 20 VERY happy and satisfied individuals, fighting to take home leftovers!

If I could give less than one star I would, it’s nothing like driving a far distance thinking you’ll get some good soul food only to be left very disappointed! I was very unhappy with the portion of food I received for the price I paid, my shrimp was dark and tasted burnt it was clearly fried in old/ burnt grease! And I noticed that I ordered red snapper and was given talapia which i really didn’t appreciate! If you don’t have what I’m asking for you should say that! Be upfront and honest so the customer has a choice… I haven’t ate talapia in years. The greens tasted like canned greens with no seasoning… I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone &it’s needless to say that I will not be back

I use to love this place back in Ontario, when I went to visit the upland it wasn’t what I expected. The food was alright. The Mac and cheese didn’t taste the same. I would have loved if they cooked the party wings the same as the chicken strips. The whole reason I went is for the chicken wings and was so disappointed when they decided to take it off the menu. Would probably only go back for the waffles. Overall check this place out for your own opinion. I probably went on a bad night.

This is such a wonderful find. The food is FRESH! The service is amazing. But its all about the food. Its definitely cooked with love. Catfish filet and 1 side was not a meal, it’s not even a child’s plate, it’s a snack. I got 1 piece of fish, not big, standard size and the greens were over salted with no hint of smoked Turkey in mine. Catfish is 10.99 a pound at Stater brothers. You might think about changing where you get your catfish from and maybe either add another piece, or an extra side like French fries. Not worth the value for almost 20.00 dollars. 2 stars due the fish was cooked well and tasted good.

This was my second visit in 5 yrs due to moving out of state. I ordered 6 wings that came with 2 pieces of cornbread, a side of greens, cabbage, rice/gravy. When I opened the container I found 6 half wings, the cabbage was burned, the greens were to salty to consume. I was able to eat the 6 half wings and one piece of cornbread for dinner. I was offered two sides for a replacement. I had already arrive at my hotel Total cost $31.00. Will not recommend

This is for the new location in Upland!Had the catfish, tilapia, sautéed chicken strips with brown gravy, collards, mac and cheese, red beans and rice, peach cobbler and that sweet tea. ALL of it was flavorful and cooked very well! Prices were a bit high and the fish portions were a bit small, BUT otherwise and overall, we left satisfied with the quality and quantity.The menu has a good variety of stuff and I will DEFINITELY be back to try everything on it.We need more family owned places like this where you can taste the difference!I’ve seen some criticism and I get it. Tried the Upland location, it was my first experience with Beola’s. I was not pleased at all. I ordered Red Snapper, Fried Shrimp, chicken and waffles, French fries, greens and Mac and cheese. It was all very poorly done. It didn’t smell or taste fresh. My fish and shrimp were not edible, very rubbery and lackluster. The chicken was over cooked, the waffle was soft. The Mac and cheese just blah. The greens were ok, but nothing to write home about. I was looking for a local soul food joint I could enjoy. This is not it, they needed better quality ingredients freshly cooked not zapped. Especially this type of food.

So very disappointed. This was my first experience and it was an unpleasant one. I ordered the fried pork chop and had it smothered with rice and gravy. First, let me say this place is way overpriced for the meal portion and presentation of food. I chose to sit down and my meal was served in a to go box with plastic silverware! The pork chop was child sized and over fried! It was not smothered with gravy and onions as described. It had a scoop of gravy on top and they forgot the onions! The rice was dry with a scoop of gravy. I had to ask for 2 extra containers of gravy! Only to discover the gravy was bland and tasteless! The pork chop was so over fried I thought I chipped my tooth, when I asked for it to be redone the manager said it was half eaten. No! It was not it was so small it only appeared that way. I was so disgusted I couldnt pretend like I could finish it. I generally dont write reviews, but for this place I have to say please save your money and do not waste your time.

Why cant people cook good soul food. Part of soul food is actually seasoning the food. Red beans & rice was bland, waffle too thick packed with cinnamon and what I hated most is the price of the food. Typical soul food plates coast $13-$15 here its 17.50 and ox tails are $26. The atmosphere was comforting and endearing and the food is always great! Ive dined here a few times and each time Ive ordered something different. I recently had the catfish, shrimp, macaroni & cheese cornbread and greens. The flavor is mouth watering and delightful! The portion is plenty and the price is very reasonable. He said I have other drink orders to get to ect. No biggie so while we waiting a family got up and we decided to get to a different table.My daughter saw it was dirty and offered to clean it he said no and proceeds to clean it.Another family comes in and I guess they were impatient about him not getting there idk because they then just left.You heard there server say I am sorry folks I was going to get right to you I had to clean the tables and then looks at us.So once the table get clean we get or food and drink.My husbands link was $5 and it was so small and wad the size of a hot dog.My daughters chicken sandwich was like school lunch. The food here was decent. We ordered the family meal because it definitely seemed like the best deal for the price in comparison to the others! The chicken was nicely seasoned but sweating on itself so by the time we got it home 10 minutes later it was soggy. The fish pieces were more like large nuggets than actual fillets. Id keep that in mind when ordering from here again. We only received 5 medium sized shrimps, not 6 as promised so one member was left out unfortunately. The seafood was still my favorite taste wise.Unfortunately, the greens should have been cut. It was kind of difficult eating the whole leaf at once and it lacked flavor. The waffles were tasty. I will say that the yams and beans and rice were very good and probably my favorite out of everything. They were a nice size portion and we even had leftovers the next day - soooo no complaints there! Next time, Ill try the mac&cheese. All and all, the food was flavorful and definitely worth the try. Im glad we branched out and tried them. 🥰

Loved this place!Came here for the first time tonight for my husbands birthday. the customer service was fabulous. we were greeted by a very friendly young lady, and our server was so kind and attentive. And the food was so bomb! my husband got the chicken and waffle plate, and I got the catfish with greens and mac and cheese, with a very very good sweet tea. portions were more than enough! Being I used to work in hospitality, you should offer customers complimentary bread or something while theyre waiting that long, but they didnt. The servers were nice but should have been communicative to us as to when our food will be ready. A couple of the teen kids were so hungry, they got Starbucks next door and drank that while waiting for our food. Nothing bad about it but also I cant say i would order it again. The main course we went with oxtail, now this was good, it was with some juices from the cooking of the oxtail and rice, over the top was butter beans. I was extremely happy with this plate. It was filling, in fact I had to pack some to take home and the flavor was good. (I packed this half away so I could have desert) i topped off the meal with peach cobbler heated and a scoop of icecream. I really felt they did a fantastic job of peach cobbler, they allowed the peaches to speak for themselves and didnt over use spices and other flavorings as do many places in my opinion. Really loved this desert. It is good that I liked the desert because as mellow, clean, friendly, and inviting as this restaurant is I am not sure it was a $50 meal. That was the price of my bill for 1 person and all dishes I described. Understanding running a restaurant is not easy especially a specialty place such as this i still would have liked the price to be a little more in line with what I thought it would be based on location and the foods served. The food was very, very good. I am from the South and the food was true to my taste. Although, my sister had the fried chicken and said that it could have had a little more seasoning. But, thats just a preference. I had the seafood platter with fried Catfish and shrimp. My side dish was Greens. Very tasty. I am VERY paticular about my greens, but these were excellent. No stems, and they even had a little kick. Loved them.The atmosphere was really nice. The resturant itself was extremely clean and inviting. The decor was calming and the big screen TVs were not too loud. My big pet peeve with restaurants is dirty bathrooms. There was NO ISSUE here. The bathroom was very, very clean and smelled fresh. GOOD JOB. The staff was great and the cook even came out to chat and was a very nice person.Now, my only issue was the pricing. It was a little on the pricy side. That is the only reason that I didnt give five stars. I truly do not understand the lack of customers. Maybe better advertising is in order. All in all I strongly recommend BEOLAS to everyone.

We were excited to try this place when staying at the hotel next door. Just were not impressed. Service was good but food...meh. First of all - EXPENSIVE. I had chicken & sausage gumbo w/cornbread and it was $20. This is an average size serving. You can make a whole pot for $20 and still make a profit. If you wanted the seafood gumbo, it was $25.50. My girlfriend had shrimp and grits. Again, overpriced, a very small portion and it was $14.50. It was more of an appetizer size and tiny little shrimp in it. Neither dish stood our as having outstanding flavor, nothing bad but just average. I would put my gumbo or shrimp and grits against theirs any day of the week, Doubt I would go back.

Definitely not the most conveniently located for someone who lives in Ventura county but is so worth the drive for those biscuits and gravy! I went on fathers day around 11am and had no problems getting a table . The awesome staff even let me sit at a table while waiting for the rest of my party although the rule of thumb is not until the entire party arrives.Super accommodating and I love the fact that you can order a bottle of champagne with your choice of juices!

A pleasant young man seated us and got our orders going. He had the tri tip plate and I had the pork chops. He had collard greens and mac and cheese as sides, i had red beans and corn bread. We both grew up a good portion in the south and both agreed that the food was very authentic. The pork chops with the brown gravy was amazing. I would ask for the red beans with rice next time. Them by themselves was overwhelming.

The food was terrible, the prices were ridiculous, the drinks were made by a waiter because they didnt have a bartender. He tried but failed miserably, attempting a Gimlet (Tanqueray and lime juice, which shouldve been Roses lime juice at $10.00 a glass) and a Long Island ice tea, for which the ingredients were disproportionate. We paid $19.50 for 2 pork chops with 2 sides, $18.50 for a seafood platter with 1 side, that consisted of 4 catfish fillets (they were actually the size of catfish nuggets), 4 shrimp, with greens. We bought an additional side of mac and cheese for $5.00. The service was the best thing at this place, so we did tip the waiter $9.12. Including the tip, our total was $70.00. I would NEVER go back to Beolas Southern Cuisine, and would absolutely not recommend this place. Id rather go to McDonalds.

Went there because my hotel was next door and recommended by the staff. Walked in and the atmosphere was homely and inviting. The servers were very friendly, as well as the rest of the FOH and BOH staff that we had interactions with. My colleagues werent very adventurous and went with the chicken and rice with gravy entree. I wasnt offered that as a side and with my meal being nearly $18 I didnt want to tempt myself with an upcharge so I let that go. I was asked if I wanted cheese on my grits...of course!!. Then we joked about the mac n cheese and all the cheese so I changed my mind to the rice and gravy but then oh no thats 2 starches again. So the server asked if I wanted some collards. Yes of course I want collards! Why wasnt that on the menu?!? Meals came out, good portions and price was comparable. The catfish was cornmeal fried, I was a bit disappointed because it was really dry but the grits and collards were very tasty. Overall I would rate the food a 3.5-4 but although the service was very friendly it was extremely slow and we never received a side of gravy that was offered to us and the checks took over 15 minutes to run and come back. I am 17 years in the industry so I completely understand if the service is slow because they are slammed but unless they were cooking and I didnt know...Im not really sure why everything took so long. If I were back in the area I may give it a shot again but would most likely try something else first.

My wife and I heard about this new place in Ontario because a Pastor and his wife went. We went on Tuesday this past we and to say the least we were not happy with our visit.The food presentation was the greatest. The macaroni cheese was good but it was warm. We drove all the way down from Victorville to eat at the restaurant. We spent $48 for two dinners and the prices were kind of high for the area right by the air port you guys gotta get it right!! We will support black business but your heart has to be in your own business. Also the owner stood right next to my wife and I dor about 10 minutes and never spoke. There were only 3 people in the restaurant. Custom service needs to improve if they want to be successful. Maybe they didnt get into the food industry to serve quality food at great prices... No disrespect intended but I must say black owned businesses have to do it better because every other people Koreans, Philippinos, etc open up Fish Frys, Fried Chicken Shops etc. They seem to do business better and they give the local communities what they want and they succeed...

They have a young man working....maybe the son, which is good because it teaches good values, but they need some help. It was 2 tables when we walked in, ordered 1 water so far, waited 20 min, then he took the order of the 1st table. By that time there were 5 tables. He came back to take the order and I had to remind him of the water. Most of the other tables still had used cups on them. After about 45 min of sitting and playing checkers, which another lady came and offered to us, we got our food. Everything was ok, except the Seafood Gumbo was sour. I thought it was the seasoning, but it wasnt right. The lady went to the kitchen and the chef brought out a fresh batch. It was night and day. So I was scared because Ive never had food poisoning. They offered a dessert on the house. The Gumbo was $24 dollars and not worth it....IMO. Also, by the time the other gumbo came out, I was full from the red beans and rice and corn bread. The young man boxed it up, and by the end of the day, it was no longer gumbo because the rice soaked up everything. I highly doubt I will be returning, especially with the pricing....but hopefully its a better experience for someone else and I hope they can improved to have a more successful business.

PATHETIC - Ordered the fried seafood platter with sides. Choice of cat fish or snapper, I chose snapper. I did not get an actual snapper and I noticed it immediately. My daughter ordered fried shrimp with side red beans and rice, side grits. The beans were like my greens, diluted and unseasoned. It was practically swimming in the white rice, ewww! - my daughter didnt like it and I wasnt tempted to taste it. Again, like my greens, her grits were too watery. She kept adding butter and salt in an attempt to make it more edible but got frustrated and tossed it to the side. My daughter ate the fried shrimp. We didnt eat most of our food and expressed our disappointment to the waiter. Overall, I should have taken heed to the signs -- the restaurant easily seats 50 or more people. When we entered there was absolutely no customers inside on a Saturday night -- We were the only customers. Despite the huge disappointment, I paid the full price of $46 for both meals - mostly as a charitable offer and in support of minority businesses and employment. However, to be clear WE WONT BE BACK! After paying for our high priced medium quality meal, we kindly pointed out to our waiter that their illuminated sign which states in order to drink alcoholic beverages “YOU MUST BE BORN ON OR BEFORE OCTOBER 5, 1998” was incorrect. We pointed out that since it is 2018, this would only mean that someone is 20 years of age and is a legitimate concern because it is illegal to sell a 20 year old alcoholic beverages. The waiter then proceeds to tell us that we were wrong and that the owner could explain this to us as she had done for another group who had previously brought it to their attention. To that we told the waiter that there was no way to explain it, that the math speaks for itself.Next thing we know, the owner comes out from the back and treats us like we are the idiots. She even pulls out a calculator to show us how we are wrong and that somehow 1998 to 2018 equals 21 years old. When the calculator shows that we are right and she is wrong she says that she must have put it in the calculator wrong. Then she has the nerve to ask us why it offended us so much, which it did not at all, we were just trying to help them. It did not stop there. She brought another table of 2 guests into the matter and when they said exactly what we had said, that the date was incorrect, she unplugged the sign and blamed the state of California. She said that the state alcohol beverage control (ABC) department is responsible for setting those dates, when in reality, it is just a simple dial to adjust on the back of those signs.WOW! Right? What is obvious is the owner’s complete ignorance and stubborn pride which is not the type of person we all should support in this life. We should be supporting humble, teachable people who are kind to others. The scary reality is, if that owner is that ignorantly convinced that being born in 1998 somehow makes you 21 years of age, then how many illegal transactions have taken place where she has sold alcohol beverages to minors?That’s all I have to say. Don’t waste your money here.

Its named after Grandma Beola, the family matriarch, originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, my hometown...and the food is on point!I had the most amazing Southern Fried Chicken and a bowl of seafood gumbo. Oh my goodness! It is clearly homemade from fresh sweet potatoes and the flavor is out of this world. The piece of pie is so large that it hardly fit into the to-go container. Just came across this place looking for shrimp and grits, and found exactly what i was looking for. Do wish the grits had a bit more salt but absolutely delicious anyway. Sweet tea is perfect, just like carolina. Really was hoping to find some fried green tomatoes, but those are hard to get here
