Bistro 1968 has a few interesting and really special dishes. We had stewed crab congee, crispy lobster roll, duck, bbq pork, crispy pork belly, golden shrimp shumai, yellow shrimp shumai, pork shumai, bbq pork bao, snow cap bbq pork bao, abalone tart, rice wrapped in bana leaves... It was pretty good, definitely not run of the mill. Standouts included the crab congee and the snow capped bao. Ive never seen or tasted a snow cap bao. I should have ordered 12 to go. The breading was airy, slightly sweet baked, just the correct ratio between bread and filling. Delicious! My five-star rating could be based on this alone. The service was fine. It was a little spendy, but the crab congee ($68) was enough to feed 12, and had a whole Dungeness crab in it. The flavor and the uniqueness of the dish was worth it.
Waited over 2 hours to get inside because the staff kept skipping numbers to seat larger parties before our group of 4 (we saw them adding chairs to tables with 4 seats to turn them into 6-8 seat tables).Food was visually appealing but the quality was on par with other places in the area and the prices were inflated. We also ended up canceling a few orders because the kitchen took over an hour and still hadnt brought them out by the time we were done with everything else.Interior is nicely decorated, but crowded.Parking is difficult.
Best dim sum experience in LA, hands down. Finally a place with actually good quality dim sum. Definitely worth the few extra bucks
Got take out of the bbq items for dinner one night was really bad. The bbq pork was leftovers, reheat and very dry. Went there for dim sum the next day, the food was good. Service is OK. Place is very clean. Will be back for dim sum, but its on the pricey end.
Free parking!!! They have a lot next to their entrance with pretty wide spaces. What a treat. If you don’t want to wait in line for a table, it’s best to get there right when they open or at least by 11am. They also had a projector where sports was being shown. Maybe they do football Sundays?Of the dishes we tried, these stuck out to me:-baked pork bun. Their bun was so unique. It tasted like the pineapple bun topping - the best part of the bun!-sticky rice in lotus leaf. This was a generous portion and had a lot stuffed into it-pan fried noodle in chili oil sauce. I could’ve eaten a whole plate. It came a couple veggies too: mushrooms and snap peas-pumpkin sesame ball. 4 balls in one order. Two of them are red bean and 2 are pumpkin??? Wasn’t really sure why they call it pumpkin when two were clearly stuffed with red bean. They were tasty though!-lobster roll. This was good but I’m not sure if I would order it again. The consistency of the lobster tasted a lot like shrimp and who knows, there might have been shrimp in there. The crunchy wrapper was good though.They have the dim sum staples too including two versions of har gow - regular and golden. According to my friends, the golden one wasn’t really that much different in taste than the regular. It just looked fancy.A dish that fell short was the XLB. There wasn’t much soup and the dumpling wrapper was on the thicker side. It had a lot of filling but reminded me more like a meatball than a dumpling.I’d definitely go back to try a couple more dim sum dishes and their regular menu items. I was salivating at the large plates of noodles that were being delivered to other tables.I thought the price was in line with some of the other nicer ambiance dim sum places. The food tastes fresh and I didn’t feel sleepy after.
This newly opened dim sum place is basically the same restaurant as the defunct Bistro 168 restaurant in Arcadia. The dim sum and food menu is about the same. Their formula is to provide good food and good service at a reasonable price. But with inflation, don’t expect huge portions for each dish.Hearing everyone on Yelp’s raving about this restaurant during their grand opening period, we decided to give it a try to see if the restaurant stills provides the food food as the Arcadia location.We walked in the restaurant and got a modern feel for the place. Its decor seemed to blended in the modern design with Chinese elements.Besides the good vibe decor, their foods is where this restaurant excelled. All the popular dim sums we tried were outstanding. We had har gaw, Siu Mai, char siu bao, sticky rice in lotus wrap that had exceeded our expectations with excellent quality food and delicious tasty.The regular dishes are amazing as well. We got their mandarin pork ribs and it was stunningly delectable. I love the crispy outer layer with tender inner layer meat. The sweet and sour sauce was mixed in the right levels of savory, sour and sweetness. It seems that they have an excellent chef that’s helming the kitchen.The service was equally impressive. The waiters were very quick in taking orders and the food came out in a very short amount of time. I believe they will do well with their dinners.Parking is in the back and the lot is kind of small but there are plenty of street parkings.
What a great addition to the SGV food scene.Probably the best dimsum in LA.The abalone tart is just a beautiful blend of flavors and textures.The rolled changfen 肠粉 is flavorful but I prefer the traditional version.The golden har gow tastes average or below average even. The color of the dough and the gold painted on it does nothing to the flavor - in fact I think it compromised the consistency of the dough. This was probably the only dish that disappointed me.The HK duck is fatty and flavorful, and goes great with the accompanying sauce.The osmanthus jelly is the perfect meal-ender - lightly sweet with a subtle fragrance of osmanthus.They have plenty of indoor parking.We waited to get a table for about 5 mins, at 2.30pm on a Wednesday - this place gets busy.Its not a rolling dim sum place, there are no carts of ready-to-eat food that go around, you have to order from the menu.
This is a 3.5 stars restaurant. Most DimSum are average. The House Special Lobster Roll is the best. The services are excellent.

Delicious reopened dim sum spot. Literally all your classic dim sum dishes hand made and fire. One of my favorite new spots. Meat balls fire. Duck fire. Har gow delicious.
There are much better options in SGV for dim sum. Most of what we ordered and we ordered a lot was fairly tasteless. They also dont offer some of the staples, like chicken feet.They have a parking structure.
Ive had better dim sum in the same area. They are limited in dim sum variety, perhaps because they feel westerners would not like to try authentic dishes like chicken feet. Their har gow tastes like shrimp stuffed mochi and their beef chow fun wasnt greasy enough! 😋

Egg yolk buns2. Siu mai3. Ham sui gok4. Spare ribs5. Radish cake6. Rice noodle w/ bbq porkAll the dishes were aesthetically pleasing and delicious🤤 I loved the presentation of the dishes because it added so much to the whole experience. The bbq pork rice noodle was unique since I’ve never had pork as the filling. The egg yolk buns were a little more pretty than they tasted but I still enjoyed them. My favorite was the ham sui gok (glutinous rice dumpling) because it’s so flavorful and has a great mochi like texture. The spare ribs were my bf’s favorite since the sauce was so fragrant.The dining area is also really spacious which made it really easy to get seated right away. This was a huge plus because many dim sum spots in SGV have long wait times on the weekend.💰Price:$40/meal
Best dim sum Ive had anywhere! No cart service, so everything ordered of menu. Lobster roll was delicious. Place was clean, staff was well organized and service was fine.

San Gabriel City is not a rich area, most of the residents in this area monthly income between $2000-$3800, over 30% of asian peoples here still looking for job everyday.Typical dim sum like other dim sum place, $35-$50 per person, Extremely expensive and unacceptable, only rich peoples can afford.San Gabriel City is not like Marina Del Rey, Santa Monica, Malibu or Beverly Hills. This restaurant charge even more expensive than American franchise restaurants or rich people areas local asian restaurants, i strongly not recommend this place。The current asian restaurant owners are very greedy, it is better to stay away from the asian community. 👎🤧
Overprice dimsum and for a $20 beef chow fun they dont even used fresh rice noodles.
Loved the food. Everything we ordered was very 😋 tasty. I suggest getting there early if your coming during the lunch rush. Parking upstairs was full during my visit. I suggest parking outside if upstairs parking is full if you have a big car or arent ultra confident you can squeeze into tight spaces. There is parking downstairs is for very skilled drivers. There is a super narrow tunnel to park downstairs. I have to admit I was a bit scared I wouldnt be able to make it through the tight space. I could see the side of my car was about 6 inches from scraping the side. You could see scrape marks from cars that didnt make that narrow sharp turn. Compact cars might have an easier time making it through. If you park downstairs and need to make a left onto San Gabriel there is an exit through the black gate. It opened automatically once I approached it. However, you might get turned around not sure which direction to go. If your making a right the other exit might work better. Other than that great experience.
Food is very good, and thr place is clean. So food and atmosphere is 5, but service is a bit slow, so I give it a four. Overall, its a 5.
BBQ duck not fresh made, dim sum not fresh either, parking no good need walked a long way.
Happy to have another Cantonese dim sum option in SGV. Authentic roast duck and BBQ pork. Service was prompt and greeted with a smile. They have private rooms for parties.

Had a great time. the dim sum standards are here and theyre done exceptionally well like turnip cake and siu mai. that almond milk tea covered by puff pastry is quite the visual spectacle! the stuff that sounded more unique like golden har gao and crab egg rolls are fine, nothing special; I found the 1968 version of the standard dim sum dishes to be more enjoyable than their unique dim sum. overall its good stuff. I need to come back to try the more expensive a la carte dishes.

Came here to eat with some friends, we had a good time catching up and having conversations about some good restaurants, parenting, sports, and traveling. During the meal I thought it was cool how they refilled our waters frequently and generally had very good service. One of my friends had planned to go house hunting later in the day, so we wished him good luck at the end
New dimsum place in town and its made it to EaterLA list just in a few weeks after the opening.It is a tiny bit higher price compared to the other dimsum in SGV; most of the items are $6.88, some $8.88. The food was delicious, nice presentation, good service, it is worth the price tag. We got the Golden Hargow, pork shumai, Crab& shrimp spring rolls, turnip cake, salt& pepper fried tofu ($10), crispy pork knuckles ($16). Tea charge is $2 per person, and we got to order 2 different type to try.Everything was yummy and met the expectation!! Moms favorite was the fried crispy lobster roll, I found the Dried- scallop pork shumai interesting, the Crab & Shrimp spring roll was very creative too, it has a bite of avocado and remained me of the avocado roll from cheesecake factory. The pork knuckles is the same portion as other restaurants in the area but it is $8 cheaper!! The skin was just soooo crispy, the meat was flavorful.While the food is great, the restaurant decor is very simple and almost in a minimalist style, the table cloth is the thin plastic table cloth with design. They have 3 private rooms with $800 per table minimum requirement.
To start, I have to mention that its pretty pricy and the names of the food are fancy as well. Of the 16 dish we order, Ill say there was about 3 we truly enjoy. A bunch was only meh~ and a few that gave us the huh, why its texture like that feeling and the rest was like oh we had better at a different location. Its alright I guess but for the price you should have something thats a bit better in quality. Oh p.s., the lobster roll was filled with shrimps and shreds of lobster, and the crab roll was again filled with shrimp w/ cabbage (huh right!!??) And shreds of crabs again so thats pretty much sum up of the things that we had here.
We are so so disappointed with the quality of the food, missing orders, and dirty_unsanitary toilet rooms. The pan-fried turnip cake (a very common dim sum) had a fishy, leftover ingredients taste; the kitchen forgot our orders for the shrimp noodles 蝦腸粉, and the crab meat egg roll 春捲. We guessed that the chefs decided to give the seafood a break by skipping our orders.Managers apologized, yet didnt change the sloppiness of the services. Additionally, the panels inside the toilet stall were so gross and SMELLY, trash can was full, and toilet papers on the floor. The cleaning log was BLANK. Coincidentally, we both had upset stomachs when we got home.
Wu gok (deep fried taro ball) came out lukewarm and that kind of set the tone for the meal-- some potential here but a strong miss overall in execution. Zongzi (sticky rice) were a fine example of this-- looked right, ingredients appeared to be right, but the flavor was bland.Also unusually loud inside, like they hadnt bothered to spare a penny on acoustics.
Skip the Siu Mai and the xiao long bao. Squid ink dumplings were cool looking — the dough felt dryer/harder than I would prefer but the stuff inside were mostly good. The noodle and rice dishes are reasonably priced with a generous portion size.
Quality dim sum - has your usual favorites along with some unique dishes like their wagyu puff and golden Har gow (squid ink). Attached parking garage. Will be pricier than your typical dim sum ($6-$8.88).
Its the first time I tried it. The dishes are good, light and tasty, the environment is clean and tidy, and the service is great!
Just average. The shrimp dumpling wrapper falls apart. Most of their dumpling wrappers are not smooth, starchy and it breaks. I’ve had better dim sum elsewhere.

Only the dish name is in English. None of the ingredients, so I was still unsure of what was actually vegetarian, and the wait staff couldnt give an answer. I enjoyed the bountiful tea and custard tarts. A bit strange having a large screen and speaker playing a sports channel while eating/ trying to converse.

There is no need to queue up for dinner on weekdays. It should be good to see the crowds of people queuing outside when passing by on holidays. After trying the taste, it is really good, the environment is clean, the service staff is very friendly, and the overall experience is great. There is a parking lot. Credit card accepted.Because there are no pictures on the menu to refer to the serving size, when ordering, I kept ordering 😂A total of 9 dishes, 2 people really can’t finish it🫣It should be about 3-4 people to eat such a portion.
I was a little hesitant when I gave the star rating. The taste was four stars, but some textures were only three stars. When I was writing the review, I felt my mouth was full of fluids and felt very comfortable, which shows that the food is really good and deserves a four-star rating!The appearance and taste of the food are very good, but the taste is a bit regrettable:1] To make tea, the water temperature is not enough. Fortunately, the waiter passed by and immediately changed the water for us, which is not bad.2] When I opened the fish soup in Shunde, there were too many cloud ear shreds and rind melon shreds, which affected the smooth taste of the soup. After 80% of the soup was removed, I could taste the deliciousness of the fish. The food is great, very exquisite, and delicious ❤️ More exquisite than New York teahouse dim sum. The most impressive ones are the coconut jelly and sesame jelly, which are very thin and taste fresh.
I used to go to other places to drink tea and thought it was quite ordinary. This time, a good friend invited me here because she recommended some of the more unique dim sum here. After tasting it, I really thought it was good. After eating it, I realized that I had forgotten it. I took a photo and will add it next time I go to eat. Sorry!!!

The environment is uncomfortable, the lights are dim, depressing, and noisy, one star. The food tastes so-so, not good enough, not delicious, barely three stars. The price is on the high side and not worthy of the value of the food. Two stars. There are few waiters and the service is a little behind, so it can only be rated two stars.

Although the restaurant was quite busy with 10 parties ahead of us, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated within just 30 minutes. Now, let me tell you about the highlight of our meal – the dimsums! They were absolutely divine, deserving of a perfect 5-star rating. While the other main dishes were also quite enjoyable, the real star of the show was the quick and efficient service we received throughout our dining experience. As for the tea, it was decent, but I must admit it didnt quite reach the level of excellence as the rest of our meal.

The service is pretty on point too. I have already made a reservation for tomorrow dim sum, bringing my extended family to try it out.

2023-09-27 06:14:05What a pleasant surprise to have quality dim sum here. Shrimp with rice noodles was out of the world. Shrimp was fresh and rice noodles were silky smooth. Dont forget the shui mai and ha gow. They were both very good! Beef tribes was good but it need more wok time. It was just lacking flavor. Overall food was 3.5 to 4 StarsService was greatAtmosphere was...Very very noisy. There was a party going on in one of the rooms and balloons were popping every few minutes. It was a very unpleasant experience.

2023-09-05 00:51:00Best Dim Sum in LA. Get there early its gets packed. We got there about 30 mins after opening and the tables were already filling up. The service is great! We will be going again. The drive from SFV is definitely worth it.

We had everything : Deli plate, fish, lobster, duck, Fried chicken, Veggies...etc. Love the dessert, fried seasame balls, green & yellow, egg tart and fruit cocktail soup. Service was good, changing plates and food came quickly. All dishes are delicious, esp the Fish, very fresh. Higher price range. Dim Sum starts at $7. Normal dish starts at $18-$25 or more. Comfortable seaiting inside a partition room, like NBC Senfood. Front entrance is impressive with 2 shelf displays of Art items. 1968 is busy and attracts a good crowd. 2023-07-25 17:31:08Every dishes we ordered the portions quite big and also delicious, especially my favorite roasted duck so crispy and the walnut shrimps was good my highlight was the braised belly pork with preserved vegetables I can eat that with 2 bowl of rice, one more egg tofu so silky at the end we have almond milk for our dessert not too sweet I loved it,overall not bad I will definitely come back again!😊☺️😄😁😆
