Blue Ocean Sushi & Grill in San Diego

I believe this new restaurant will be a popular spot! They are still in soft opening. We walked in on a Friday lunch time. No waiting time and we got a nice seat. The foods here are very very delicious comparing to their prices. Can you believe the big piece of salmon Kama only costs $7.5? My husband giant chef selection sushi plate is $34 with two pieces of bluefin tuna! The restaurant atmosphere is nice, pretty well decorated, kind of modern and luxurious. The only thing is they wrong calculated the price on the bill and we found out...

Delicious sushi dinner with very fresh seafood! We ordered the Ocean Way, which comes with bluefin tuna toro rolls, bluefin tuna Akami sashimi, and albacore, salmon, and sea bream nigiri. We also ordered the rainbow spider roll (bluefin tuna, shrimp, yellowtail, albacore, salmon, soft shell crab, tobiko) and the heart attack roll (tuna and shrimp). Everything tasted great. We sat on the dog friendly patio and the service was very friendly and quick. Recommend!

Went during a not so busy time with barely any tables filled so service was good, the server was checking in and asking if our meal tasted good (which it did!). She forgot to enter our 2nd roll of sushi and we waited quite a long time for the roll to come out and only after we reminded her did she tell the kitchen to make it “in a rush”. Sushi tasted great and was fairly priced as well.

Each dish and even the sashimi—were beautifully presented and tasted even better than they looked. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the rice was perfectly seasoned.One of the highlights of our meal were the Amberjack Carpaccio and the Tuna Harmony appetizers. We ordered 4 different types of sashimi: Seabass, Amberjack, Salmon, and Bluefin Tuna. Each piece of sashimi was sliced with precision, generously cut, and melted in our mouths, reflecting the high quality of ingredients and the skill of the chefs.The service at Blue Ocean Sushi was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our meal. They were quick to offer recommendations and ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of excellent.Overall, Blue Ocean Sushi exceeded our expectations in every way. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality sushi in a comfortable and stylish setting.I docked one star only because I could tell our server needed to be trained more and we waited awhile for more fresh wasabi which kept us waiting to eat our sashimi for 15 minutes to get a server’s attention and the restaurant was not busy, 15 minutes is a long time…. Other than that the service was excellent and I will come back. This might be my new favorite sushi restaurant.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the service and ambience were great! Shout out to Taylor for being a kind and attentive server. My expectations were exceeded—this is definitely a spot worth coming back to!

Overall dining at Blue Ocean was great from start to finish. Literally. Delicious food, Great experience, awesome service.All in all nothing short than exceptional, will come again to try the hot stone.

Blue Ocean Sushi is consistently excellent.The fish is exceptionally fresh, the presentation is stunning, and the decor is both beautiful and unique. The service is impeccable, and the prices are very reasonable.It is conveniently located directly across from Macys department store.This is the only establishment in UTC where one can enjoy high-end sushi.

Fresh and tasty sushi. They don’t suggest free dessert for birthday! We eat ice cream here and it was delicious.

My husband and I had dinner here and it was a gem of a find! The fish was extremely fresh, especially the albacore! The sake selection was unique and we tried two kinds that we’ve never had before which were both excellent. The best part about the experience was the service from Julianna. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great suggestions! We will definitely be back!

The food was just okay for me. I was expecting it to be much better and fresher tasting with the price point. I really enjoyed the popcorn shrimp although those are not pictured. I also had to keep waiting for my water to be filled.
