This is the best Thai food place I have been to in Southern California so far. I went to Thailand 5 years ago and discovered their food is on top of my lists. The lady owner cooked so differently than other staff. Shes the best of all Thai cooks, I think. We went to this place multiple times every time we were in town. We are lucky to have her cooking most of the time. There are times that the lady is not available to cook, and its a little disappointing, but still good. I just prefer her cooking, though, so unique and taste different than other Thai restaurants I went to. Take note, we always go to restaurants to explore foods and the ladys food is on top. Green curry and pad thai are the best for me.

Enjoyed the red curry tofu...sauce and veges were great, but the soft tofu, itself, had a watery consistency and flavor. Overall the dish was good, but not great., My friend very much enjoyed the pineapple fried rice. Our server was attentive. Note that while the interior is clean and nice enough, its a strip mall location and kinda has that feeling, vs a dinner house feel. More casual. This teview is only based on one meal, and I think its worth visiting again to try other dishes, too.

I brought home Chicken in Spicy Peanut Sauce and and Cream Cheese Crab Langoon. Both are quite tasty and servings are enough for 2-3 meals for one person. Looking forward to trying other dishes soon.

My experience was with a delivered order. I was treating my friends who do not like any hot spice in their food I had made that very clear when I placed the order. I like it hot but they could not eat their food. It was so spicy. When I reached out to receive a credit or a re-delivery, the owner was very rude and unhelpful. I was treating my friends and it was embarrassing that they could not even eat their food.As much as I have appreciated their food in the past I have never ordered there again.

This is THE BEST Thai restaurant ever, and we have been to many! Fresh, crispy vegetables, rich flavor, ample options for vegan, vegetarian, and meat eaters alike. Friendly owners/staff, comfortable, cool, enjoyable setting. We will be coming back frequently!

I’ve been here a couple times. I’m sorry but 18.95 for chicken phud thai for a bland ( no spice at all, nor did they ask) serving a 1/3 the size most other Thai places give you and 6 boiled (not crispy) pot stickers for 12.95 lol… I’m sorry but there is nothing here but overpriced-nothing-special small servings of Thai food. Also it seems They would rather you get it to go than be bothered waiting tables.

This is the second visit to Blue Orchid and the only thing that is great is the service. Out of three dishes, one was edible. The dishes were very sweet and extremely Americanized even for Asian fusion cuisine. All the dishes had the same vegetables and pricing was $$ for quality. Disappointing for a Thai owned restaurant cooking THAI dishes. A visit down the street on Hwy 111 will bring a more authentic Thai cuisine at a better value. A misrepresentation for a touch of Thai, 5 star reviewers should check their taste palate.

I order Pad Woon Sen regularly throughout the valley. I would say Blue Orchid has the poorest preparation for this item. The Tom Kha coconut soup was almost like cream of chicken soup. The flavor in the soup was acceptable but had to be eaten with a fork. I honestly wont eat here again. I recommend Talay Thai for a better flavor, authenticity, and portion.

They took our order, forgot our drinks after being reminded twice. Then 2 other groups arrived. One party of 4, another of 20. The party of 20 received their entire appetizer and entrees before us. Keep in mind, we placed our order 15 mins prior. After our hour wait, the party of 4, received their food. We asked for our check to pay for our appetizers and drinks. They said our food was coming up. Although the owner apologized, they were still wrong. We will not return due to service. As far as the food goes, The appetizers and blue ice butterfly tea was good.

My husband and I ordered the pad thai (tofu) and pad see ew (chicken) for take out. The flavor of the food was exceptional, probably the best weve ever had! However, the portions were about the size of a kids meal and both of us were still hungry after eating. This was quite disappointing given how expensive each dish was (~$18+)! If they had adult-sized dishes, we would have become lifelong customers.

Great place to have a late lunch. My husband and I went around 2:30 PM and they were quick with taking our order and preparing our meals. I was hesitant to try it becaise it looked like a fusion type of restaurant but to my surprise they served Thai food traditionally with shareable portions and delicious taste (jusy with fancy dinnerware). My husband had the drunken noodles and I had the Yellow Curry lunch special. Both dishes were delicious. They didnt ask what level of spiciness, when we ordered. So I was afraid it wouldnt be spicy enough. The drunken noodles were the right amount of spicy (7 out of 10 spicy level) and I added their red hot pace sauce on my rice to go with my curry (4 out of 10 spicy). This place has great customer service and it didnt break the bank! We ordered the two entrées with Thai tea and the bill was less than $30 with tax minus the tip. We will definitely go back to this restaurant for both lunch and dinner and try out their other entrées!

Ordered pad Thai, massaman curry, and a hot pot of tom yum soup for take out. Food tasted good, but was disappointed in the size of the hot pot, which we specifically clarified on the phone. Pretty sure a hot pot size of soup should be be bigger than this, especially when it cost $14.95! It contained 4 pieces of tofu and 2 mushrooms. High prices paired with average to low quality food = a bad deal.My ginger chicken lunch was bland and lackluster, the rice over cooked, and the quality of the meat was poor (tough over cooked meat).You can get away with this quality level when you charge $10.99 for a lunch entree but not when you charge $21.99.With higher prices come higher expectations.Blue Orchid Bistro is not aiming for quality and is shows. Save your $$ for better food. I won’t be back.

Lovely small Thai place conveniently located in Palm Desert. Clean and quick service. All our food was excellent. My husband always orders beef dishes, and he reported the meat to be tender and fat all cut off...also flavorful. My son always gets satay, and the meat was juicy and tender. The response was, no, thats all you get, moreover, the salad was small and didnt even come with rice. The place was dated and furnished cheaply for the price range. Plastic lotus flowers at entrance. Great service, they greet you right away and make sure to check on you several times throughout your meal. I usually get the Pad Thai lunch special since it comes with some amazing soup. The Pad Thai is pretty tasty, maybe not the most authentic flavor but its definitely good and comes in large portions. To be honest, its really the service that keeps me coming back. One time I asked for some ground peanuts to go with the noodles and I was given a whole glass container to pour on as liberally as I liked. Very surprised and pleased. Also the ambience and music choices are always nice to listen to. This is for sure my go-to place when I need something filling and yummy for lunch!

Hungry for Thai food the wife and I visited this store in the mid afternoon. Once seated the wait was very long for that time of day and then our server shows up. Ordering appetizers, the wife went with pot stickers and egg rolls. Again, the wait was really too long for that time of day but the food arrived. The egg rolls were nothing but average or what you would typically get from a fast food take out offering combos. I did appreciate that they were not greasy, the dipping sauce though was very good, I’ll give them that.the potstickers were crisp and not greasy however lacked flavor. Again the dipping sauce saved the day.My choice was a sum sum something that basically was boiled chicken slivers and shrimp, well 2 shrimp. Priced at twice the real value they could have served at least 4 shrimp . 14.95 is way overpriced for this choice which included glass noodles over a bed of lettuce with a lemony watery dressing. The dipping sauce made it edible, not flavorful but edible.Bottom line, waaay overpriced for mediocre food. The dining dollar is super competitive with so many dining choices in that area. My suggestion is stay clear of blue orchid, it’s not Thai food as I’m used to.

Im giving this place 2/5 stars only because the food here was good. The service was very poor, and our waiter was extremely rude and unprofessional. She didnt have any patience at all and behaved in a manner that is unacceptable for anybody that works in hospitality. We didnt get any plates, utensils, or napkins, and never received one of our dishes. Even though the food was great, I wouldnt recommend this place to anybody solely because of how terrible this service was.

Small quaint Thai restaurant off the highway in a strip mall. Excellent food. We had the Summer Rolls, Blue Orchid fried rice and the Chicken Spicy Peanut. All were excellent. A tax pricey, our bill for the appetizer, fried rice and entree was $45 not including tip and the portions were smaller than one w]wild expect. Service was amazing. Staff was incredible. I am a huge fan of Thai food, and expected something mediocre at best while doing a job out here. I ordered my normal order of Tom Yum Shrimp and Green Curry Pork, and to my amazement, sat down to the best meal Ive had in a few years. The soup had just the right amount of lemongrass, and the curry was spiced just right, with possibly the most tender pork Ive ever had in it. I recommend this place to anyone who loves a good food coma at the end of their day.

My friends and I visited Palm Desert last week and dined at Blue Orchid Thai Bistro. The food was exceptionally good, and the service was exemplary. I had the most amazing Wonton soup and Sweet and Sour Pork and they were literally the best Ive ever had; particularly the Sweet and Sour sauce which had an amazing flavour. My friends tried the Pad Thai and Salmon and the meals got rave reviews all around. We loved it so much we ordered the same thing to go a few nights later and the quality was just as good the second time. Prices are very reasonable as well. You have to try it; I recommend it!

The service was all one can ask for in a bistro- quiet and out of the way, but very efficient and quick to provide drink refills and remove empty plates. We have eaten there many times and had a pretty good and consistent meal. This time we ordered take out. One order was not what we had ordered. The Mongolian beef I ordered was completely bland flavorless and tough. I have eaten Thai food for 30 years and I can say this was not like any Mongolian beef I have ever had. The chicken order was another tasteless order with no spice and some kind of light gravy on it and certainly not chicken lemon grass with green curry that we ordered. This meal was so totally different than anything we had there before that I assume the cook must have changed or some major change in the restaurant occurred. The other half was in the trash and I didn’t make it back that evening because I have 3 young kids and it’s a drive back. Its a pretty fancy Thai place, but it just might be the area. Ive had similar, better tasting food at a family owned restaurant for half the price. Its not cheap. But it tastes good. After driving an hour and a half here by a friend’s recommendation, I have to say, it was well worth it. The thai food is not like any other Thai food I’ve eaten, I always liked the pad kee mao (drunken noodles) but it wasn’t until I tried blue orchid’s drunken noodles that I knew I’ve been eaten the dollar store version from other Thai places all my life. Blue orchid’s drunken noodles are not dry and quite opposite, very saucy with flavor and spice, and the chicken is not in chunks but diced into bite sized pieces. In late April 2022, we were fortunate to find this Gem of a Place in the desert. We have been going to Rancho Mirage for years and have tried many of the other Thai restaurants, but none have compared to Thai Orchid! As a pesca-vegan they were extremely helpful in assisting us in making our dining selections and were just as careful in the preparation of their delicious Thai offerings. All of the dishes were great! They also offered a much healthier option of soft tofu in the dishes instead of the usual fried tofu that so many other places only seem to have in their food. A suggestion if you like really spicy food like we do, then try level medium first as even that was almost too hot. Lastly and maybe most importantly, they are lovely and honest owners. When we got home with our take out food we noticed one meal had the wrong fish in it. They were extremely friendly and accommodating and credited us the amount of the wrong dish and told us to enjoy what was wrongly given to us. Wonderful place and will return again and again. I just ate at Blue Orchid and I think I just had the best thai food I have ever had. My wife, an independent opinion ate with me and she also believes this is the best thai food she has had. The three things we ordered were the beef salad, the drunken noodles and the beef massaman. The beef salad was a nice mix of crisp lettuce, cucumbers, fresh mint and thin beef marinated in tart vinegar. The balance between tart and spicy set up the nice tang of the beef, which was grilled well but still tender. Excellent start. The drunken noodles are smoky all the way through the ramp up to the spicy heaven you go to. The chicken is tender all the way through and has a balanced texture with the noodles. I have had this dish many times. But now I know the way it can and should be prepared. Mind blowing. I didnt know if the Massaman curry could match the huge flavor of the noodles but the rich peanut flavor raised the smokiness to an even higher level but then smoothed out to a warm almost sweet burn that coated each bite of rice, and quality beef with a magic flavor spectrum that made me slow my enjoyment just to savor the combination. Only the potatoes could be slightly more tender to soak in the dense broth. Delectable as the drunken noodles in its own way but more rich and with extremely tender, carefully trimmed beef that massaman needs.I do not live local to this restaurant worry now that I will not enjoy eating at my regular Thai place unless they put the care and skill of Blue Orchid Thai Cuisine into their cooking. Excellent and graceful service from the gentleman who served us also.
